(00:00):
So your dreams feel out of reach, right? Well, trust me, you're not alone in feeling that way.
Here's the thing. Achieving your dreams is probably more possible than you would ever imagine.
You just have to know how to try and you have to go for it. So stay with me,
because what I'm going to do is in this video, I'm going to share with you my
dream and I'm going to share the actual steps that I'm doing to achieve it and

(00:20):
why you should be doing the same thing, even if it's scary.
Because believe me, as someone that has chased their dreams and that's doing
it again, it's going to be scary.
Before I do that, before I share the steps, I want to talk about just how loaded
it can be or feel to have dreams, to chase them, and to talk about them.
When we're young, we're told that we should all dream big, and we do.
But then as we grow up, when you chase your dreams, when you talk about them,

(00:44):
it sometimes invites skepticism, even from the people that are close to us.
Sometimes people question your ambition. They see you as selfish.
They look at you like you think you're better than them or like you deserve
more just because you want to do something big or do something different.
But I don't see it that way. and neither should you.
Whenever I have a dream that I want to chase or whenever someone tells me about
their dream, I think, well, somebody is going to do this, right?

(01:06):
Somebody is going to be successful.
And the person that succeeds is not necessarily going to be the person that's best.
It's going to be the person that tried and that stuck with it.
So if that's the case, then why not me? And why not you? It's not about deserving
more. It's just about believing in yourself.
It's about having a dream and it's about giving it your best shot.
But as I said, sometimes not always but sometimes the people around

(01:29):
you will introduce doubt and they might make
you question your own dreams and it it happened to
me when i was starting my last business some of my closest friends
said things to me like nah i just don't think that one's a
good idea or no one's ever going to pay for that i think they were genuinely
trying to help me i think that in their own way they thought that by challenging
my idea they would make it stronger or maybe they thought that they were saving

(01:52):
me from some inevitable heartache and failure but But more than anything else,
their words were just demotivating.
They felt dismissive and it was deflating.
But I went for it anyway because I believed in it and because I just wanted to try.
And what's funny is that business that they said no one would pay for and that
wasn't a good idea, it was successful. It grew and it grew and ultimately it was acquired.

(02:13):
So what did they know? So if you want to do big things, if you want to step
out of your comfort zone, then at some point you're going to have to be prepared
for the good and the bad times.
You're gonna have to have answers to questions like why you
and what makes you so special why do you think you're so
special but there's good news here because if you're the type of person that's

(02:33):
watching this video if you're someone that is actually going to start something
if you're someone that will see it through and stick with it then you are special
you're different than almost everyone else so why not you anyway i promised
that i would share the steps what i'm doing so So here goes.
The first thing that I do, and I'm not going to lie, this one is always a little embarrassing.

(02:54):
It's always a little scary because it will feel selfish. It will feel egotistical.
You have to say your dream out loud. No matter how scary it is,
it's the only way to start. So for me, here goes.
My dream is to become the most trusted YouTuber for topics like success and failure.
I kind of joke with my family that I want to be the next big failure on YouTube.

(03:17):
Just a fun way of saying it, and maybe I need a better way. But for now,
that's my dream. And what I just did there was I set a goal for myself.
It's a massive goal. It's almost unrealistic in its scope and size,
but it's my actual dream.
And now I've said it out loud and I've made it real. Now you know it.
Saying it out loud opens me up to some ridicule.

(03:38):
It opens me up to maybe some doubters, but it also opens me up to the type of
support and accountability that I ultimately need if I want to be successful
and I want to be successful.
Why else would I take on this type of an endeavor?
And that's what you should do too. If you want it, then you should set yourself goals.
And the bigger, the better. And then when you have a goal, don't tuck it away.

(04:00):
Don't just hide it and put it in a journal. Talk about it. Share it with your friends.
There's a concept that I used to talk about a lot when I was a founder called Parkinson's law.
It's basically the idea that says work will always expand to fill the available
time because people rarely finish their work early.
Even if it doesn't add any more value, even if it doesn't get any better,
if we're given two weeks to do something, then we're going to take two weeks

(04:23):
to get the job done. It's just human nature.
We tend to work within the targets that we're given or the targets that we set for ourselves.
And I would talk about that in terms of why we set deadlines,
but you can also use that when you understand it to your own advantage,
to trick your brain to do impossible things by setting massive goals for yourself.
You see, the bigger the goal you set, the harder you're going to work to achieve it.

(04:48):
And the higher you aim, even if you miss that goal, even if you set something
that is so out of reach that is nearly impossible to get to,
chances are you would get further trying to achieve that than if you had set
yourself a smaller goal, a more attainable goal.
You work to fill the space you have. So if that goal is that big,
you're going to go after it.
And then when you have a goal like that and you say it out loud,

(05:10):
as I said, you open yourself up for support, even from unlikely places.
Faces take me because I said my goal maybe you
are more willing to like this video or share it because
you want to be a part of my dream or you want to support me or maybe there's
someone else watching that has a podcast and maybe they invite me on because
they say hey maybe I can help that guy out he'll get a little more exposure
it doesn't matter what it is but these are opportunities that would have never

(05:32):
existed if I hadn't said my goal out loud none of you would know what I'm trying
to accomplish and you wouldn't be able to help me and the same goes for you
and your dreams when you say it,
people will be there to help you if they can.
Now the second thing I do, even if I don't think I'm ready, and I'm never ready,
is I push myself to move just a little bit faster every day.
And I'm doing that right now.

(05:53):
I'm taking a leap of faith and I'm taking on a little risk because I just hired
my first editor to work with me on these videos.
And on paper, it doesn't make any sense. It's way too early.
I'm not making any money from this channel, so I'm paying out of pocket. it.
But I believe in what I'm doing and I crunched the numbers and I found a way to make it work.
So as scary as it is, it's a strategic investment and it's an investment that

(06:16):
I believe is going to help me get where I want to be even faster.
Because there will come a point when you have to take some form of a risk if
you want to achieve your dream, particularly when it's a big dream and your goals are big.
Now it doesn't have to be a financial investment like I'm doing.
The risk could be anything. It could be how you spend your time,
where you put your effort.

(06:36):
It could be you giving up some form of control, but whatever it is,
it's probably going to feel uncomfortable if you're doing it right.
Especially if you're early on in pursuing your dream, because you're never going to feel ready.
As I said, for me, I know what I want to do. I've told you my dream.
And I know that bringing an editor on will free up more of my time so I can
spend my time on the thing that's most valuable, creating videos,

(06:59):
sharing my ideas, and that the videos will ultimately be even better.
So it's the best thing that I can do because the more videos I make and the
better they are, the more likely I am to succeed.
So it's a risk that I just had to take. And so when it comes to you, think about your dream.
Think about the risks you can take right now or the ways that you can make yourself
go just a little bit faster.
And I know some of you have maybe never chased your dream before.

(07:22):
And I remember being there myself and I didn't know exactly how to do it.
Now I have a bit of muscle memory.
But if I were you and this was my first time, what I would do is I would start
by looking at the things that I'm doing every day that are adding the most value.
Whatever they are, do more of that and eliminate or minimize all the other things.
Figure out ways to bring other people on if you can.
To delegate the tasks that aren't essential or just generally

(07:45):
push yourself to do a little bit more go a little bit faster do
something that you're not quite ready for but do
it anyway because as scary as it is that's part
of chasing your dreams it's meant to be scary and it's meant to be uncomfortable
but the outcome and the potential result is massive and it's worth it and finally
the third thing that i do every single time is i find a way to create accountability

(08:07):
for myself because it's what i
need to motivate me and to stay on track so i'll do it now starting today.
I'm going to make a commitment to you if you're watching this video my commitment
is that from now on i will post at
least two videos every single week and i
actually need your help to make sure that i'm held accountable because accountability is
what i'm after i am willing to do anything to pay any price any shame any embarrassment

(08:30):
within reason if i don't meet that goal if i don't meet my commitment so what
i would love for you to do if you're willing is to go into in the comments and
come up with what penalty I should pay when I don't post two videos.
Do I have to say something? Do I have to make a particular video?
Do I have to reveal something about myself that I normally wouldn't?
Whatever it is, come up with it, put it in the comments. And I commit right

(08:51):
now, I promise you that if I miss the mark, I will do that thing.
You better believe that's going to keep me motivated because I'm sure some of
you will come up with terrible ideas, but that's what will keep me accountable.
While I'm at it, I'm going to do another one. I've been thinking about this
and I'm just going to say it out loud because once I do, I know that I'll follow through.
I want to get into the absolute best shape of my life. And I'm not talking about

(09:12):
losing a few pounds. I'm talking about getting ripped, about a body transformation.
So I'm going to do that as well. And I don't need your help on what to do on
this one. I know exactly how to embarrass myself. I'm going to take some pictures tonight.
And in four months, four months from the day this video goes live,
I will post a before and after transformation. And I hope that I'm not embarrassed
to show the before because the after looks so great, but maybe it won't.

(09:35):
But that's going to motivate me every day when I don't want to work out to get
to it because I'm going to remember that I'm going to have to take another set
of photos in four months and you best believe I'm going to want to look as good as I can.
So why make those type of promises? Why commit to that type of public embarrassment
and body shaming or whatever it is that I'll have?
Well, for me to succeed, I have to find ways to hold myself accountable and

(09:57):
have others hold me accountable. Obviously, I'm using this platform.
I'm using you, not in a bad way, but I'm using you to help me stay accountable.
I want to earn your trust.
I said I wanna be the most trusted, and that means practicing what I preach.
I live up to the expectations that I set in my videos.
I do the things that I say I'm going to do. And to keep that trust,

(10:19):
I need to follow through. And that will keep me accountable.
Most of you probably don't need to do it the same way. You might not have a
channel. You probably aren't willing to do the same embarrassing things that I am.
So for you, you just need to find other ways to be accountable.
It means sharing your goals with your friends, joining communities and groups,
or setting check-ins with someone you trust to make sure you're on track.

(10:40):
Because if you don't, if you have a dream, If you've told people about the dream
and then you don't do it, it'll be the most disappointing thing that you've ever experienced.
Time will go by weeks or months or years, and you'll realize that you haven't made any progress.
And that's worse than never chasing your dreams at all. So those three things,
the things I just did saying your dream out loud, finding ways to move fast
and holding yourself accountable.

(11:01):
Those are the essential things to do. If you want to have any chance of achieving your dreams. Sure.
It's not a guarantee. There's There's no promise that you're going to be successful,
but the odds are that you will be closer to achieving your dreams if you do these things.
No one can promise success, but I've done my part now. You know what my dream
is. You know how I'm holding myself accountable.

(11:22):
And if you do the same thing, if you give it a shot, then at least you're in the game.
At least you have the potential to realize your dream and that in and of itself
is incredibly exciting.
Chasing your dreams also means that there's a pretty high likelihood that you're
going going to experience some forms of failure and that's okay.
Failure is part of growth. In fact, I made a video about how much I love failure,

(11:45):
about how much I love telling failure stories.
And if you really want to make a change and do big things, I highly recommend
that you watch that now because embracing failure, seeking failure and learning
from it is probably the biggest change you can make to put you on the path to achieving your dreams.
Now I'm excited to see how things go for me. I'm excited for you.

(12:06):
I know that however it turns out, I'm currently on my way to becoming the next
big failure on YouTube and to getting ripped.
So I'm going to see how it goes.
Check back often, share your dreams in the comments, and remember to hold each
other accountable so we can all do amazing things.
