(00:00):
Get out of your head. Stop making it more complicated than it needs to be.
So many people take the simplest activities and because of their fears and insecurities,
because they're trying to justify their argument or their point or gear themselves
up for what they think is gonna be difficult,
they make it harder than it ever needs to be and then they don't ultimately

(00:20):
accomplish whatever they want.
So get out of your head. Start being lazy, being dumb. Just go do the thing
you wanna do. You pretend that it's easy and it will be.
If you need to have a hard conversation, get a job, get a promotion,
do something, start a business, just go do it.
We all know it. We know that the shortest distance between any two points is
a straight line, but we take the scenic route anyway.

(00:42):
We go into a conversation where we have one point, one point that we want to make.
And instead of just going in and saying, hey, I want a raise.
We go in and we say, well, I think I want a raise because Mary gets paid more
than me and Dave got promoted. And, you know, I've been covering for Jane this
whole time and you never gave me credit for the time that I stayed late during
that event. No, don't do that.

(01:03):
Just go in and say, I want to raise and I think I deserve one and see what happens.
If you do it the other way, you're going to end up negotiating and debating
the key points that you walked in with instead of the key event or activity
and outcome that you wanted.
And you might be wrong or they might have a different opinion.
And now your whole point is derailed, negotiating or debating something that

(01:24):
wasn't even material to the point that you wanted.
We know this in everything else we do in life, but we still get stuck in this
habit of being in our head and overcomplicating things. We want to get into shape.
Do we just wake up early and start going for a walk or skip a snack?
No, we start researching new gyms and new activities. We buy equipment and smartwatches

(01:45):
and monitors because that's the thing that's going to make it better, but it's not.
You might ultimately need those things. You might need to be aware of the reasons
why you should get a raise, or you might need new equipment to really motivate
yourself or take yourself to the next level.
But it's not the thing that you ultimately want to do.
If you just want to accomplish that thing, just go do it. Be lazy.
That's how I've done most things in my life.

(02:07):
I don't know if it's that I'm lazy or that I'm stupid, but I just do the thing that I want.
I try and take the shortest distance because I don't have the energy or the
focus or the stamina to do it in this roundabout way.
It's exhausting. I watch other people and I'm genuinely exhausted watching them
trying to convince people to their points, trying to get me to give them what
they ultimately want or need or deserve because they take such a roundabout way.

(02:31):
If you want to make a difference, if you want to do things a little differently,
just go and do it, make it happen.
And I'm not saying this, that you're lazy. I'm saying be lazy.
Assume that it's going to work out. Assume that you are worthy of whatever it
is and know that it's just going to take a little bit of action and start doing
that. today and every day.
Make conversations simpler. Get to the point. Do whatever you need to do to

(02:55):
accomplish the things you want and you'll sleep better.
You won't worry about all of the what-ifs and why did they say this and what
do they mean. Just assume that people are good.
That's what I do. When I'm having a conversation with people,
I don't walk in with this preconceived notion that they have some hidden agenda
or that every word is coded to mean something.
You know why? Because I know that I don't mean anything else except for what I say.

(03:16):
And maybe there are are people out there that are doing that,
but I don't want to change my life to conform to the way that they are.
I'm going to continue just being direct and honest and open.
And I'm going to find the simplest way to ask for what I want to say what I
want and to get what I want.
And yeah, there's going to be people out there that do it differently and that's
okay, but I'm not going to waste my time and energy on them.

(03:37):
I'm just going to go and say, this is what I want. I deserve.
If I want a job, I'm just going to call someone up. I'm going to call the right
person. I'm going to find a way into that organization because it's the shortest way.
I don't want to have to go through all the hoops. I just want to see if I can
talk to someone and find out if it's a good job.
If I want a promotion, I'm going to go in and say that. And yeah,
they might say, no, you're not good enough.
We don't have the money. And that's fine. At least I asked and I found out.

(03:59):
Now I'll work on whatever's next for me.
So get out of your head. Just start doing something that is more direct.
Find a way to be lazy. Lazy people succeed.
Not the lazy people that don't actually want to do anything,
but the people that find the shortest path.
They will be the ones who have the most success because their projects succeed or fail faster.

(04:20):
So do that. Enjoy it. Find a way
to do that every single day and see what difference it makes in your life.
