After years in academic research, Lin got a wake-up call when his long term girlfriend broke up with him, and decided to get a better paying job. His professor linked him up with Dr Zhou for a startup job.
Lin arrived on the island, finding the fascinating details of the project.
While the project technically progressed well, there was no solid prospect of making money. Lin helped Dr Zhou with the fundraising.
COVID threw the whole project into disarray. With limited travel, previous plans were on hold, and the team sought a new direction.
The team partnered with a simulation gaming startup, to bring AI to the simulation world.
In an attempt to speed up the AI training in the simulation world, the team sought super computer resources with a surprise outcome.
When even supercomputers were not enough, the team discovered a new approach. However, was it ethical? The debate caused disagreements among the team and leadership changes.
With the big release, the team faced a surprise outcome. The humanity faced a threat never seen before.
