In this special summer reflection, Kathleen Kenneally is back in the energy of Fire—but this time, not to teach, but to offer. Flowing gently from the afterglow of her seasonal acupuncture gathering, she opens a space to rest, recalibrate, and reconnect with the deeper pulse of the season. This isn’t a lecture—it’s a soft, heart-forward companion for those feeling stretched thin or low on spark.

Kathleen speaks with warmth and intimacy about how Fire can both illuminate and exhaust: how the same energy that brings laughter and connection can also leave us feeling scattered, anxious, or deeply depleted. She names the subtle symptoms of burnout and extends an invitation to return to your center—not by efforting, but by receiving. Through a guided visualization and reflections on heart-centered living, she helps us refill the well from within.

“Lead with love,” she reminds us. “Open your heart before you open your mouth.” Whether you’re buzzing with summer intensity or quietly burned out, this episode is a gentle medicine—a space to return to yourself and let love do the leading.

IYE Intro (00:00):
Hello and welcome to In Your Element with Kathleen Kenneally,
where we explore the wisdom of naturalhealing and the deeper rhythms of life
from the five elements to live out loud.
Spirituality.
This is a space to reconnect withyour most authentic self, whether
you're seeking balance through Chinesemedicine, tuning into your energetic

(00:21):
blueprint, or fully embracing themost vibrant, alive version of you.
This is your space toexplore, expand, and.
And realign.
Let's dive into today's conversation.

Kathleen Kenneally (00:37):
Hey there everybody.
Kathleen Kenneally here with In YourElement, and today I wanted to kind
of part two of, the fire element andthe summer season, and I just had my
seasonal, uh, acupuncture event that I do.
four times a year, and it's aboutbringing in the energy of the season.

(00:59):
It's about plugging everybodyinto the energy of the season and
aligning everybody with the energyof the season by activating the
fire element points in the body.
I. And it was a fantastic event.
And if you ever are in the Los Angelesarea, uh, when I'm doing them, I
absolutely invite you to come and join us.
It is a celebration.

(01:21):
It is a coming together of community, and it is just a whole lot of fun.
That's all I can say about it.
I mean, there's much more to say aboutit, but that is the essence of it.
And, It's about families coming together.
It's about friends coming together.
There are people that come tomy event that sometimes this is
the only time I see them and.
They have been, I have a family thatalways comes at my 9:00 AM appointment,

(01:45):
a group of four, and they've beencoming for 18 years at 9:00 AM I think
they missed one seasonal, which was,you know, threw me off for a moment.
But it is phenomenal.
It is that kind of community eventwhere people are coming together.
And celebrating the seasonal turn.
And so the day as it progressed and, andall the fire energy, which I've talked

(02:06):
about last time, is very fast moving andfast paced and there's lots of energy
and it's the most young time of the year.
It is, again, most young, fast moving and so on.
In that, you know thefire energy of itself.
Fire.
You know what fire does?
Fire burns and burns, and burns.
Burns brightly, expands outward, connects with other people, or connects

(02:29):
with the world and then it's out.
Fire burns out, and so when somebodyholds the fire, constitutional energy.
that you can see that as, as somethingthat happens within a person is
that that fire energy, which I'ma constitutional fire element.
I dunno if you can hear it in my voice.
There's a little bit of a burnt outenergy of my voice in terms of the tone.

(02:51):
But nonetheless, it's, likeburning, burning, burning, burning.
And it's so much fun.
And then the fire's done.
And so it does take some Timefor recuperation and restoration
and basically just resting.
And, that's typically what I doafter most seasonals the next day.
I spend a lot of time because I treatupwards to 50 to 60 people in one day

(03:14):
which in a, it's just an amazing energy.
So what I wanted to focus on today is tofocus on the message of the season and I,
did share a little bit of it at my lastpodcast, but I wanted to kind of expand
upon the energy of this message because.
When I'm doing the seasonal with eachgroup of people, I go into the room and

(03:36):
I'm treating before I actually treat them.
I share the message of the seasonand I talk about what's going on.
And depending on the group of people, sometimes there's just a slight
variation depending on who's in theroom and perhaps the emphasis of what.
They might need to hear more of.
and so I never know what's gonna comethrough or how it's gonna present itself,

(03:58):
but today I'm going to share with youthe message of the season again and,
really in a more concentrated way, so.
As I've said before, season is, um, inChinese medicine there are five elements,
wood, fire, earth, metal, and water.
And the fire energy is about, again, the most expanded time where it is

(04:19):
about, we've planted the seeds inspring, we've woken up in spring, and
then everything grows and expands inthe summer, bringing its everything
into full bloom, if you will.
And so we have a. Continuum, if you will,in terms of what happens on the emotional
level within this fire realm and so on.

(04:39):
The most positive end of itis when we're most balanced.
We are happy, we are joyful, we arefeeling connected, we are alive,
we are in our creative expression.
I mean, it's just a wonderful energy.
We are in our heart space.
We're loving, we're fullof love and that's awesome.
And when we are.
And an extreme imbalance.

(05:01):
If you can imagine.
You know, we start up in the centerof the whole spectrum here, and
it's, we're happy, happy, joy, joy.
And we're moving along.
And now we're feeling a little anxious.
And now we're feeling a more anxiety, and now we're going into panic.
And now we are angry and agitated.
And that's the extreme.
The fire is burning.
Way too hot, way too harsh.

(05:25):
We come back to center.
And here again, we are at center.
Happy.
Happy, joy, joy.
And then the other end of thespectrum is happy, happy, joy.
Joy going along, feeling content.
Now I'm feeling, hmm, a little lethargic.
Don't have a lot of motivation, not feeling any energy.
Now I'm moving into feelingsad and now I'm depressed.

(05:49):
And that is when we areexperiencing a lack of fire energy.
We do not have enough fire to motivateus, to drive us, to move the energy,
to inspire us, to be creative,to connect us to other people.
We feel isolated and alone.
That is the extreme version of sadnessand grief and, no fire energy at all.

(06:12):
So again, coming back to the middle, youcan feel the energy between these two
extremes, and that is on a greater levelwhat we are experiencing in our world.
And so here is this microcosm of thismacrocosm of all the different things that
everybody's going through right now and,and our world is struggling right now.

(06:37):
And that's all I need to say.
And everybody can draw from thatwhat comes to them in terms of your
own personal struggle right now withwhat's going on in your own life
or the extended life of the world.
and that's where we'll leave it.
The world right now is struggling andso now it is so important more than

(06:57):
ever to really activate this energy of.
The summer of the fire energy toreally, really connect to this and
acknowledge where we are in the spectrumof any moment in time because we are
sliding up and down this whole thing.
It is not, we are not, stationary.
We're not staying in one place.

(07:18):
And again, I'm sure everybodywho's listening to this can
understand and feel what I'm saying.
And so for a minute I just wanteverybody to stop and take a breath.
Deep breath in through your nose, outthrough your mouth, and I want you to
take a moment and just check in andfind out where are you in this moment?

(07:43):
How is your fire energy?
I. How is it feeling?
Is it feeling it's a warm firethat's burning gently easily?
Is it feeling a littlebit fired up to the point?
Not in a good way necessarily, butthere are good ways to be fired up, of
course, but not, you know, maybe you'refeeling too fired up a little too in

(08:04):
the excess side, or are you feeling.
Kind of sad, kind of overwhelmed, alittle bit depressed, unmotivated.
So just for a moment, let'stake a moment and just check in.
Where is your, how is your fire energy?
How is it doing?
I.
How I am doing in this moment is I'mso glad and so happy and joyful to be

(08:25):
here, and I'm feeling a little depleted.
I've not quite filled my fire energyback up after my event, which was
glorious and amazing and magnificent.
I loved every moment of it.
However, the fire has burned quitea lot and so I am feeling a little
more mellow, a little gentler, andnot at full bore, but I feel good.

(08:48):
I feel good.
That's where my fire energy is.
So in recognizing where yourfire energy is just in these
moments is also a good place to.
again, as we are looking at thisspectrum, I'm gonna give some suggestions
to you now of how to connect moreto the positive aspects of your fire

(09:09):
energy and how to connect into thatplace of filling yourself back up.
So first thing, what I findhelpful in my own practice is I
think of something in my life.
An experience, a person, my pet, that whenI think of this, when I have a thought
of this, I immediately go into my heart.

(09:32):
I immediately feel joyful, or I feel love,or I feel, ugh, that makes me so happy.
And so again, take a moment.
Think of something that makes youfeel joyful, that makes you feel
like, oh, my heart is exploding.
So for one thing, I think about evenstill, and my son is 24 years old, but.
All I have to do is think of my sonand my heart immediately opens up

(09:56):
and is filled with so much love.
So I'm right in my heart.
I'm no place else but in my heart.
And so from that place of fullness, fromthat immediate spot of being like, oh
yeah, that's what it feels like to bein my heart and feel that love space.
That fullness of love, imagine if youwill, that you are dipping into this,

(10:18):
well, this, well this endless bottomlesswell of all this beautiful love energy.
And as you're dipping into it and you'removing through your day and you're
moving through your life, you are sendingthis love energy out in front of you.
You are moving it out in front of you.
You can man putting your hands up andyou're sending it out in front of you
as you're walking or moving through yourday, so that as you are walking forward,

(10:43):
as you are moving forward into yourday, you are always stepping into love.
That you are always surrounded by thisenergy of love and it's, it's like this
self-generating love energy becauseyou're sending it out and then you're
walking through it and you're sendingit out, and you're walking through it.
So you're always in love, and it'sthis love that you are creating for

(11:03):
yourself, and you're filled up somuch in doing this that it spills over
into everyone that you connect to.
Everyone that you touch isalso touched by this love.
Isn't that beautiful?
Doesn't that just feel so?
Fricking awesome just talking aboutit, and I'm doing it right now.
I'm sending that love out to you.

(11:24):
I'm sending it out as I'm movingthrough and I'm filling myself up.
So this is, so helpful and if youcan think of, the quantum field, if
you will, the field of energy that weall are connected to, that we all are
connected to each other within this field.
that just imagine if weall did this every day.

(11:46):
Every time we move through our daythat we did this, just imagine how
different our world would feel because.
Any change that we make withinourselves ripples forward and affects
everybody else within the quantum field.
Everyone, we're all impactedby everybody else's energy.

(12:08):
And so if we can manage the selfgeneration of this energy of love
where we're constantly filling ourselfup, my gosh, what a beautiful thing
that would spread through our planet.
And so this is a way forus as individuals to.
Keep ourselves centered, keep ourselvesin our own presence of love so that

(12:31):
this is what we can do for the world.
Especially in those moments when we feelhelpless, we feel frustrated, we feel
angry, we feel unable to, what can I do?
How can I help?
And it doesn't seem apparent.
This is what you can do.
This is what you can do.
So that is the biggest partof my suggestion for you.

(12:53):
And then another reminder that goes alongwith this whole idea that we're pushing,
putting out love before us sending itout, is that to remember, and this came
from a friend of mine, my friend LindaCormier, amazing, really inspiring woman.
And she said at one of her trainings, she said, be sure to open your

(13:16):
heart before you open your mouth.
Open your heart beforeyou open your mouth.
Such a simple concept, yet so powerful.
And again, remember both ofthese things that I'm bringing to
you today, these are practices.
And what I mean by that is that.
It takes practice.

(13:37):
That, the more we practice these things, the more that we remember to bring
ourselves into this energy of love.
The more that we remember toopen our hearts before we open
our mouth again exponentially, everybody benefits from this.
And so this is the energyof the fire element.
This is the highest, most.

(13:58):
Brightest version of the fire elementthat I wanted to bring to you today.
So with this I'm bringing youhope, I'm bringing you love.
I'm bringing you a sense of peace.
That is my hope for this message fortoday, for this episode, is come be
part of this fire energy and sendthe love forward so that all of us

(14:18):
may remember what it feels like to beloved, to be supported, and to be held.
In this great loving vibration.
So with that, that is my shortand sweet message for today.
and I'm wishing you all a beautiful, beautiful rest of your day, your evening.

(14:40):
And please go be love, be love, lead with love, lead with love, and
there can be no mistakes in that.
And I wanted to mention that if youare free this weekend, I am offering a
class on Saturday, June 28th from threeto five where I will be, spending time

(15:02):

I. We'll be looking at thedifferent associations.
There'll be essential oils, acupressure points, talking about
the fire element, the Constitution.
And I'm gonna be sharing some recipes.
I'm making some food, so it's gonna bea very celebratory, an intimate, event.
