In this episode, I interviewed Mercedez, who's mission is to create a safe space for massage that's accessible in all the ways she can make it: compassionate, understanding, trauma informed, consent based, queer, and all gender friendly, body positive, and disability friendly.

Mercedez aims to to make receiving bodywork a priority and not a privilege as a woman of color, a person who has experienced trauma, body shaming and queer phobia herself.

We talked about:

  • her journey as a massage therapist
  • how she makes her work accessible
  • how body work can help heal trauma
  • fat liberation
  • the importance of care work through all of life seasons, from birth, post-partum, child care, elder care, and end of life care
