Prior to joining QFES, Joanne gained experience in many countries ranging from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe leading responses to pandemics, epidemics and natural and manmade disasters for the UK Government and the United Nations. Joanne has been the UN Cluster lead or UN Coordinator for events across hazards ranging from earthquakes, cyclones, landslides, civil unrest and cholera, HIV/AIDs, SARs and H1N1 pandemics as well as national recovery operations in Kosovo and Pakistan.
