Gemeinsame Entscheidungen zu treffen, ist besonders schwer, wenn die beteiligten Akteur*innen sehr unterschiedliche Meinungen vertreten. Dieses Problem begegenet uns allerdings nicht nur in Politik und Gesellschaft, sondern auch in der Informatik.
In der 36. Folge von Informatik für die moderne Hausfrau beschäftigen wir uns damit, wie innerhalb eines Netzwerks ein Konsens gefunden werden kann, zum Beispiel, wenn verschiedene Server einer Bank unterschiedliche Informationen über einen Kontostand haben. Um dieses Problem zu lösen, gibt es die sogenannten Konsensprotokolle. Das bekannteste davon, nämlich Paxos, schauen wir uns in dieser Folge genauer an.
