Join gal pals and standup comedians Mandy Simonson and Lisa Rimmert as they talk about their late starts to comedy, pop culture, overcoming bed wetting, and much more. Originally from the Bay Area, Mandy Simonson is a Portland-based comedian whose older brothers’ childhood tormenting left her with thick skin and a sharp wit. She began stand-up mostly to escape the suburbs and prove she can stay up past 9 PM — then it turned out she was onto something, parlaying that into a residency at NYC’s Broadway Comedy Club and East Austin Comedy Club as well as performances at the HaHa Harvest Comedy Festival. Mandy’s comedy takes on tough topics with a light heart, like staring down breast cancer and giving it the middle finger. After all this she’ll leave you feeling like you just left a gab sesh with your best friend. Lisa Rimmert is a standup comedian and writer based in the Seattle area. Her skillful joke writing and natural charisma have delighted audiences all over the country, from one Washington to the other and throughout the midwest. She performs regularly at comedy clubs and bars throughout the Seattle area, and she has participated in festivals in Oregon and Colorado. Lisa brings to the stage—and the pod—infectious humor, confidence, and congeniality. Whether she’s making puns or discussing women’s rights, she does it with a lighthearted demeanor that’ll leave you giggling. She’s also an award-winning author, no big deal (dusts shoulders off).
