🗑️ Garbage in Hochelaga: Explained… with Jonathan Haiun

Montreal’s current administration has reduced garbage pickup in Hochelaga to once every two weeks.

According to Jonathan Haiun of the citizen group Ligue 33, this policy has led to:

  • Residents without balconies forced to keep trash inside and deal with the smell.
  • Others leaving bags outside early because it’s unbearable. ➡️ Result: messier streets and a lower quality of life.

Haiun says the measure may have been well-intentioned, but when citizens voice strong opposition, leaders need to listen.
