Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, and welcome back to the Mathsphony Podcast with me
Joshua Foxing. Today, guys, I have got a treat for
you and a blast from the past, because do you
remember Tracy Jewel And of course you do, because she
is married at First Sight icon she was there as
part of the first ever cheating scandal when Dino did
her dirty and was like hooking up with Devin. Did
(00:23):
they have actually the hook up? I'm not sure anyway. Yeah,
Like that was probably the first iconic storyline of this show,
and it like set this precedent of everything that's followed.
And I feel like it's been a while now since
I've actually seen or heard of anything from Tracy. Like
Dean pops up on socials and in the press. Divina
did the Jungle the other year, and she's quite prominent
(00:44):
on social media. But Tracy, I've got no idea. So
this week, Lachlan and Talia, who hosts the Confessions of
a Reality style podcast which is in this feed, have
been doing a little bit of dig in, a little
investigation to find out, you know, what's happening with Trace.
Does she still speak to Dean? Does she still speak
to Devina? Yeah, what's happened in Trace why have you disappeared?
(01:05):
And well, yeah, they got in touch, had a chat,
and all those things are now answered. And there's actually
a very cute story here about Tracy and her current partner,
which fills me with hope that our dream person is
out there and we may already nail them, and we
may already have kissed them many years ago.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
These days. Married at First Sight is well known for
cheating scandals and couple swaps, But years before Jackie and
Clint started dating, before Ellie and Johnno walked into the
reunion hand in hand, and before Jessica and Dan shocked
everyone by recoupling and then breaking up on Live TV,
there was Tracy Jewel and Dean Wells.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
These two had an absolute rollercoaster relationship on the show,
with Dean attempting to pursue Divina Rankin in the first
ever quote unquote cheating scandal on Maths before changing his
mind and then trying to make it up to Tracy.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
So these two made it to the end of the experiment,
Dean wrote an apology rap for her, Tracy, my little lady,
you driving me crazy after last week on the couch,
Yo one, No, you probably hate me, but you gave
me your shot. You're so hot, plus your brain is
next level. Come and show me what you got. And
he professed his love for her at final vows before
(02:22):
she ended up dumping him.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Iconic behavior. To be honest. Seven years on, both parties
have well and truly moved on. Tracy is married and
had a second child. Dean is engaged, and Lachlan had
a chance to speak to Tracy about her math's adventure.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
Before we get into my interview with Tracy, I just
want to point out that we decided not to contact
Dean based on how he has treated Talia in the.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Past, basically because I haven't heard anything about this interview,
like you're keeping all the secrets from me right now.
And I could have reached out to Dean to get comment,
but he had an incident back in one of my
old workplaces where he came to my Facebook page. He
didn't like my old workplace Junkie, and he came to
my personal Facebook page and left a bunch of very
strange comments, So I thought it's best not to message him.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
And look, we have had some redemption with these types
of people. We clearly got on with Bryce and Melissa,
they unblocked us, and now I would say they're friends
of the pod. We could have had that moment with Dean.
We might save that for another day. We also did
reach out to Divina to try and get her side
of things, and we would love to talk to her.
But it was so lovely just getting to talk to
Tracy and walking down memory Lane with her. The first
(03:27):
thing I wanted to know, though, was whether she and
Dean are still in contact all these years later.
Speaker 4 (03:32):
Well, in a what I'm so glad that despite all
the crazy things he did and said, we've maintained a
friendship for this long. Like, you know, I was invited
to his engagement party, his weddings coming up. You know,
we talked to each other, you know, a few times
(03:53):
a year, and I have to say, like, to go
through such a crazy experience, it's so nice that we
don't hate each other and we've like remained friends. And
I think that's really, you know, a great thing outcome
to have on a show like Maths.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
I think it's really nice that they're actually still friends
because they did go through a lot of shit on
the show, and we did see them in their reunion
episode two and they seemed pretty fine, but it's hard
to know whether that friendship can then still live on
all these years later. So it's quite nice to hear that.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
And I think it's pretty surprising to hear that she
will be attending his weddings. Wedding, but what happened for
many former MATHS couples to go to each other's weddings.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
So I'm kind of curious though. Her and Diana fine,
but what about Divina.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Well, that was my next question for Tracy. Here is
what she had to say.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
No, Like, you know, you hear things in the real world,
but it actually like I went in there trying to
just be friends with everyone and get along. I wasn't
there thinking I'm going to create drama. Like I went
in there to have a real experience and to make
connections right and hopefully have a relationship at the end
of it. Obviously, her agenda was different to mine and
(05:02):
just someone that I wouldn't ever be friends with or
have any reason to connect with after the show, and
you know, I wish her well and whatever, but and
if it was like staged, that would be different. But
I believed at the time that was who she was,
So yeah, I wasn't that interested to continue pursuing things
(05:25):
or communicating outside the show.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
I have heard.
Speaker 4 (05:28):
I don't follow her, but I've heard, you know, unfortunately
she got divorced from her marriage after maths, and you know, like,
regardless of personal opinion, like it's sad. I think we're
all just navigating our way through really tricky situations, especially
when kids were involved, right, Like, we're all in the
same boat, just trying to keep our head above water
(05:49):
and make it work. It's tough.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
I didn't actually know Divina got divorced. Yeah, I feel
like the last time I did a little stalk of
those kind of people from that season, she was like
happily with someone baby, that kind of life. So obviously
my slothing skills, YE leave a lot to be desired.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
But also I do think it's nice for Tracy to
kind of wish her well. Obviously she didn't have the
best experience with Divina, and even watching some clips from
the reunion, Tracy was very much like, Hey, can we
sit down and talk about this. I really want an apology,
and Divina was like, no, I've done nothing wrong, sorry,
when she basically just tried to steal her man looking back.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
Tracy really held herself with class, like the whole season,
and I think that if I think back on that season,
that's not necessarily what I'm thinking about, because I was
just like, oh, like so distracted by the Dean, Divina Thinn,
Dean's wrap, like whatever, and I was just like, why
is this woman still with this man? But you kind
of go back and you watch the clips and you're like, oh, no,
she was good at like putting him in his place.
(06:48):
She was like an adult. You know, you don't really
see an adult on the show very often.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
She took the high road, and she's still taking the
high road. You mentioned looking back at some of the
clips as well. Though, I actually forgot that Tracy did
a couple swap after the show, rocked up to the
reunion with Sean Thompson.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
Dude, I forgot all about that.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
We've seen so many couple swaps now, literally so many
people going to the reunion together. She paved the way.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
That is so true. I forgot about Sean. He was
like blonde, spiky hair.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
Yes, so, not only did Divina indeed have the cheating scandal,
but Tracy and Sean rocked up to the reunion together honestly,
they didn't date very long though they ended things after
six months, and Tracy says they haven't spoken much since then.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
We're not in touch. I did bump into him because
he was living in Perth and I'm a Perth girl
and purse a small place you bump into each other,
and you know, it was fine. It was a chat
like I think it was at the local shops, and
you know it wished him well and that was really
really it. That was a big regret, for sure, big regret.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
So was it actually genuine or do you think they
were just kind of trauma bonded at that point and
they've just come back to their reunion and obviously it
hasn't lasted that long after that.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
That's really interesting because I think people either gravitate to
one another because they've been through that same experience, or
you see some people, not to name and shame, but
Ella and Brent. They were clearly building up the hype
of their relationship.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
Bit about Jamie and Elliott perhaps well, yeah, people.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Could say that they're also trying to make the most
of their time after the show. A couple soop is
a great way to do it. I did ask Tracy.
Whether it was real or whether it was just for
the headlines and that big bombshell moment, it was.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
One hundred percent genuine. It wasn't about the bombshell because
remember at that point, we didn't really understand what we're
getting into. But like it was one hundred percent one
of those was it called rebound relationships, And you know,
it's really bonding when you go through with other MATHS
participants because you're going through all together, you kind of
(08:58):
trust each other and you fall these connections that you
wouldn't normally go for. And that's one hundred percent what
that relationship was. It was a rebound relationship. And in fact,
if you remember that reunion episode, he came up to
me and kissed me. I was happy to like totally
downplay the whole thing. He was the one I think
(09:20):
that wanted the airtime out of it, making it this
big thing where I was just like hanging back, going okay,
here we go.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
Look, we all have the old rebound from time to
time that we regret. But what about now she's moved on,
Obviously she has a kid. Is she happy?
Speaker 2 (09:39):
Yes, very happy to report that Tracy has since found love.
She married her husband Nathan in February twenty twenty one,
which was actually right after the Mass Grand Reunion aired
on TV.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
Oh, she was pregnant.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Pregnant during the reunion, she married her love, and then
she welcomed her second child. The interesting thing about their
relationship though, was that they knew each other before she
went on Maths.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
My reason for going on the show was I'm a
relationship girl, right Like, I love relationship. I love being married,
like it's my vibe. So like, I genuinely wanted that
out of math So after Maths, when it was a
train wreck, I didn't give up on what I wanted.
But after reality TV, it's hard when everyone knows who
(10:22):
you are, especially in Perth. Dating apps are kind of
out of the question, right because I can recognize you.
And I dated Nate in high school, so he was
already on my Facebook and he was reaching out asking
if I was okay. After the experience, we caught up
a couple of times and then it just developed from there,
(10:43):
and I think that's really like beautiful and cool that,
you know. He was my first kiss ever in high
school and here we are, we're a four year old
and being together. Yeah, six years.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
I love that for her because it's not often you
hear these really sweet stories post Maths, and she was
right like they were obviously on a season before it
really like it was a season that probably really exploded
things in a lot of ways. But it's nice that she,
especially in a small place like Perth, can meet someone
and just put it all behind her as a learning
(11:17):
experience and find that happiness.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
Yeah, I think we're so used to seeing Math stars
come off the show date people from other seasons, date
people from other reality shows. It's not typical that they
kind of find love with a normal person because they
are no longer a normal person. They are this public
figure that everyone thinks they know. So it's so lovely
that she reconnected with the first person that she kissed.
That's insane, dude.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
I'm so happy for her because I think she just
deserves all the good in the world, especially after having
to suffer through Dean's wrap. Like, I will never get
over that.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
I don't know how she did, Tarlia, could you imagine
getting married to the person you had your first kiss with?
Speaker 3 (11:54):
Look? No, for a couple of reasons, it was a
one off event. The kiss I was at a point
where I was just like, God, I need to like
just learn how to kiss someone. And I met him
at some walker house party. And secondly, he's actually passed
away a few years ago, so it would be impossible
(12:15):
to what about you.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
I believe my first kiss is still alive. Maybe I'll
have to check on that, but is no. I would
not get married to them. Good on Tracy, though, happy
for her.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
Your boyfriend's listening right now. Okay, back to Tracy, Let's
move on to the star of this episode.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Honestly, I was so happy to chat with her. She
hasn't really been a part of the public eye for
the past few years. She came back for the reunion.
She hasn't done any other reality shows really, so it
was lovely to check in with her. She's just living
her best life. She's got her four year old, she's
happily married, She's.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
Going to Dean's wedding. All's well, that ends well really
for both of them.
Speaker 4 (12:59):
I never wanted to go on it for like the
fame or live that kind of lifestyle. For me, it
was like the experience of just doing something fun and interesting,
and I always wanted to be a full time mum.
Always wanted to get married and I'm living that. But
I still also get to meet amazing people because of
the MATHS experience, right, So, like I get to connect
(13:23):
on Instagram and you know, collaborate with amazing brands and
really pick and choose who I let in my circle
and community and Maths gave me those kind of opening doors.
But at the end of the day, I'm just you know,
a mum working doing the school runs and you know,
(13:44):
trying to have some self care and downtime and a
couple time in the meantime like everyone else, like every
other month.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
If you want to hear more from Lachlan, Talia and
of course the legend that is Tracy, do you will
head over to the Confessions of Reality Start podcast for
part two of that, where Tracy reveals the reality show
that she turned down after married at First Sight and
shares a few more updates. Have a lovely day, say Yer.
