Hey all. So as you may or may not know I spent the beginning of last year performing a new version of my one man show, Life and Other Deceptions, at a fantastic theatre in Pittsburgh called LIBERTY MAGIC.
The more I worked with the staff there, the more wisdom I heard.
Not being magicians themselves, I realized that their attitudes, criticisms and ideas relating to magic, magicians and one person shows were pure gold, and unfiltered by politics or dogma and needed to be heard.
So, I sat down with their Venue manager, Zoe Ruth, for an in-depth, and brutally honest interview about her experiences in running and booking Liberty Magic, and it was eye opening.
Listen to this with an open mind and heart, understand that all we want is for magic and magicians to move forward, not stagnate, and you will gain an incredible amount from the interview. The advice on creating a show, taking notes and being authentic is probably the most important thing you’ll hear all year.
This is Part One, enjoy :)

Takeaways
Are You A Charlotte?
In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
