Mission 1:8 with First Dallas

Mission 1:8 with First Dallas

Based on Jesus’s final charge to His disciples in Acts 1:8, Mission 1:8 with First Dallas seeks to transform the world with God’s Word one life at a time. We will produce resources that help you to abide in the Lord each day and more fully conform your life to reflect Jesus Christ in all things. We’ll also talk about the strategy and vision of our church, so you can put this into practice as you serve and lead here. We hope each episode will encourage you with biblical truth and equip you to live a bold, gospel-centered life!

In this episode, Senior Executive Pastor Dr. Ben Lovvorn teaches from Acts 4-5, on Peter and John’s boldness. As he walks through these chapters in Scripture, you will see that the more the disciples were persecuted, the more the church grew as people gave their lives to Christ. This episode will challenge you to be more bold for Christ yourself as you listen to what God did through these great heroes of our faith.

Here is the audio of Dr. Ben Lovvorn’s sermon on Matthew 25:1-13, “Don’t Wait Until It’s Too Late.” When we stand before Jesus Christ one day, we will either be found ready or found wanting. This seemingly simple story, Jesus’ parable of the ten virgins, includes one of the most sobering warnings in all of Scripture. Christ cautions His followers to make sure they are ready . . . really ready.

When that day comes, we will either be found ready or found wanting. Whether we go before He comes, or He comes before we go, we must all be prepared to meet Jesus.

In Week 4 of Spring Training: Abide, we’ll be reading through John 15:18—16:11 together. Just before He left, Christ told us we would experience conflict with the world. But He promised to send the Spirit to dwell in us, to guide us into truth, and to empower us to be bold witnesses for Him. At the same time, the Holy Spirit will be at work in the world, convicting people of their sin and drawing them to the Lord.
