If a Podcast is recorded in a Tearoom and no one is there to hear it, does it even exist? This is the question pondered by North Mancunians (Film & Theatre Writer-Director/Community Organiser) Paddy Nicholls and (Multi-disciplinary Artist/Owner of Annie’s Tearoom) Lou Beckett. Left with a podcast shaped hole in their lives, new ideas began to be dreamt up and now *DRUM ROLL* from the ashes of ‘Have I Got News For Lou’ rises ‘Never Mind The Baldness’: a random selection of bizarre features conjured up by the two to help stave off the boredom as they dwindle a couple of hours away catching-up as they do…As well as the usual, enjoy parts of the show such as ‘When In Rome’ and ‘Guantanamo Bay Beats’ (Desert Island Discs, but less pleasant) – what more could you ask for? (apart from…A LOT MORE…) Each episode will launch every fortnight on Tuesday evenings and the features on the show will be subject to a Poll on Social Media, which will then be voted on by YOU each week to see what they end up going on about for that particular episode! Feeling guilty about Paddy being ill (and unable to record the last full episode) and both being on Holiday after, the two decided to record another short bonus episode a few days ago to keep you from shedding too many tears. They talk about the "joys" of getting older and put their money where their mouth is by actually drinking (in real life) one of the Serbian spirits, from their infamous Belgrade "trip", on the show itself.
Part 2 of the episode ‘And On The First Day, Lou Created…’ finishes off where the 2 left off in discussing the beginning of Lou’s religion/cult (inconclusively called either ‘Beckettism’ or ‘Beckettology'). The ‘When In Rome’ trip to Addis Ababa throws up some highly ill-educated discussion about Ethiopian culture, as well as a few choice encounters with some shady characters on the night of the trip.
Part 1 of this special double-episode sees the lads discussing the joys of getting unknowingly caught in the midst of Chinese patriotism, ‘Guantanamo Bay Beats’ throws up some genuinely poignant conversations, before they test the boundaries of tastelessness in their new feature: ‘The Gospel According To Lou’.
