A dubious character named Harry Connors is in his New York brownstone room, nervously pacing the floor. Finally, the phone rings. He says "Hello?". The voice on the line says "Connors?" He says "Yeah, where you been, Lorenz? I've been waiting". Lorenz says "You're too nervous, Connors. Irritable, a sign of insecurity". Connors says "Your telegram said you'd call..." Lorenz says "I'm calling long distance, my friend. Words are expensive". Connors says "Okay, Lorenz". Lorenz says "Do you have a pencil handy? Take this down. It's a grey convertible, 1953 model. New York license plate 24S373. You can learn the name of the owner from the motor vehicle bureau or whatever it's called in New York City". Connors says "Yeah, that'll be easy". Lorenz says "You'll find our prize in the left front wheel. Understand?" Connor says "The left front wheel, okay". Lorenz says "Car should be in New York within the next 48 hours, a young couple driving. They went through customs here at the border two days ago". Connors asks "No trouble?" Lorenz says "Why should there be trouble? They seemed like such respectable people". A couple of days later, Jerry and Pam North arrive home from their three week vacation. While they are getting the luggage out of their car, a man walks up to them and says his name is Connors, and he is a new tenant in their apartment building. He says he is getting acquainted with the neighborhood. Connors says "I'm from out of town, you know, and I can't get used to this New York parking situation. Where do you park your car?" Pam says "Well, Jerry usually keeps ours on that street behind the building". Jerry says "There's usually a space or two there. Connors says "Oh, that's good to know. Thanks, Mr. North". After Connors leaves, Pam asks "Jerry, do we know that man?" Jerry says "No". Pam asks "Then, how in the world did he know our name?"
