Hello, welcome to Practically Magic.
Today I am your local witchand healer and mystic.
I'm here today because, and the day I'mrecording this is actually October 1st.
It's going to come out a few weekslater than that, but we're getting

(00:47):
closer and closer to Samhainor Halloween, All Hallows Eve.
And people love to get witchyduring this time of year.
We love the feeling of fall.
We love that it starts to,the veil starts to feel thin.
So today we're going to talk aboutsome dark and spooky topics, which are

(01:09):
actually going to be very helpful foranyone and everyone in their lives.
So let's start our episode pulling a card.
Okay.
All right, all right, all right.
I pulled this card earlier and I don'tknow why, but I felt like I just needed
to put it back and try again and pulledit just now and it's the exact same card.

(01:34):
That is usually how itworks with Demination.
I apologize if I soundlike I'm a little stuffy.
The fall time comes with thebeautiful fall colors, but it also
comes with a lot of dust and pollenand unfortunately it interacts with
my body as if I have a very bad.
So I am working through it and itfeels like every time I start to record

(01:59):
something or put myself on camera forany reason, all of a sudden I have
eyes watering and sniffly nose and Imade sure I was all ready to go before
I got on camera before I hit record.
And now I'm sittinghere just crying tears.

(02:22):
Yeah, I'm just gonna go with it.
I'm gonna go with it.
It's just what it is.
It's what's happening.
I'm gonna be a little puffy,a little wet, a little snotty.
It'll be fine.
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [02:09.324]
Okay.
It's not my favorite.
This is the card that came up.
I'm using my elemental Oracle deck today.

(02:43):
One of my first Oracle decks andit's very science, very scientific.
And the one that keepscoming up is the magic card.
And the word that comesup with it is alchemy.
It's so interesting because I wasactually going to do an episode
on alchemy, but I felt like I justdidn't know enough about it yet.

(03:03):
to talk about it on a podcast episode.
But there is a lot about alchemythat's very fascinating to me.
And the way that I engage with alchemyor the way that I understand it in
the world of healing and what I dowith clients and energy is that we

(03:24):
are turning what we have been given
what resources we have available tous in our own mind, in our own energy,
in our own body, to be able to spinthat into gold and to be able to
transform that into something that isvery powerful and useful and valuable.
And I feel like what we're about to dotoday is going to take some things that

(03:50):
people have deep rooted fears about.
and turn it into something thatmakes them feel powerful and magical.
So we're talking about today'sspaces and cleansing spaces.
Basically, the topic is haunted houses.
I love a good story.

(04:11):
You know I do.
I love to tell a good story.
And I especially love the hauntedhouses, stories and ghost stories.
I think they're fun and entertaining, but
Even still as a child, think I wasterrified, terrified of my house
being haunted or actually seeinga ghost or having interaction with

(04:34):
something that would be a ghost.
One of my favorite TV showswhen I was a kid was X-Files.
And although there is a main plot inX-Files that had to do with aliens and
alien conspiracies, actually my favoriteplot lines were the kind of obscure
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [04:29.602]
off the beaten path episodes wherethey would do something about the

(04:58):
paranormal or about ghost stories.
They were the most spooky to me.
And honestly, for a long time, when Iwas a kid, a teenager, probably late into
my early adulthood, I was a little bitterrified of mirrors in the bathroom.

(05:19):
And when you would get out ofthe shower and the shower steam,
would make the room and the mirror steamy.
There was something, I must haveseen it on unsolved mysteries or
something when I was a kid, but therewas sort of those ideas of paranormal
experiences that people would have.

(05:40):
these paranormal experts would talk abouthow that ghosts had to, or spirits or
entities had to be able to interact withenergies going on around them in order to.
manifest or make themselves seen.
And I thought the steam from theshower was going to make somebody
appear or something appear.
Or if I looked in the mirror, there would be that image.

(06:03):
We've seen it on horror movies whereit's you look in the mirror and
there's a person standing behindyou and the reflection you turn
around and there's no one there.
Those kinds of things.
And I did have some experiences, especially because when I
was a teenager, we moved into
my dad's childhood home, whichwas his father's childhood home,

(06:27):
this, this home, the old readerhomestead, we called it, was built
in 1880 something, 1883, I think.
So even when we moved into it, itwas over a hundred years old and,
it was a great old, used to be afarmhouse, kind of Victorian style.

(06:50):
not as...
maybe lavish as Victorian homes thatyou see in haunted house type things.
But
it was a little bit more like a farmhouse.
had a front parlor and a familyroom that were both in the
front of the house and a porch.

(07:10):
It had an upstairs that was onceone big room that had been kind of
shifted to several bedrooms upstairs.
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [06:55.928]
When my family moved in, we addeda bathroom upstairs because the
only bathroom in the house wasone that was built on the back of
the house where the kitchen was.
So it was the only bathroom andit was right off the kitchen.

(07:31):
So one of those houses that wasprobably built in phases because,
you know, families changed andneeded needed different things.
And it probably startedout with an outhouse.
I'm just assuming.
But my great grandmotherraised her children there.
She had my grandfather in that house.

(07:52):
before he was born, herhusband died tragically.
And so she had to raise thosekids herself, by herself,
and manage the orchard.
And part of the orchard was sold off.
And so this house had a lotof history, a lot of families.
And I just happened to be a descendant of

(08:13):
the family that lived there.
So when my grandfather passed away,I was in high school and I had been
living in this house for a while.
he, my grandfather had taught us how todo the irrigation and how to kind of take
care of the tractor and things like that.
I think he was very much attached tothis house because he grew up there

(08:35):
and he loved it and he took care of it.
And he put a lot of love and hard workinto it and raised his family there.
And so me and my sister being the newgeneration of family that was living in
this house, there were some instancesthat just unexplained things would happen.
My grandfather's favoritesinger was Johnny Cash.

(08:56):
And when he passed, we had our radio, our CD player, entertainment center,
whatever, you know, we called itthat would all of a sudden start
playing Johnny Cash out of nowhere.
when no one had touched it and it wouldturn, the dial would turn up loud.
So the volume would turn upand our family would be like,

(09:17):
who's playing music really loud?
Can someone turn that down?
And when we realized that nobodywas actually playing it, that
it was just playing, we wouldrealize that must be grandpa.
He's playing Johnny Cash, he's letting usknow that he's here and that that's his
favorite, that was his favorite singer.
So.
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [09:11.16]
I remember one time I did get outof the shower in the new bathroom

(09:38):
we built upstairs and we had darklinoleum that we put in that bathroom.
It was a dark green and kind oftrying to renovate the house and
make it updated a little bit.
Put in actual light switches becausethe house had those pull string lights
upstairs when we first moved in.
Like I said, very old house.

(09:59):
And I remember when I got out of theshower, you you step on the dark linoleum,
your feet would create a footprint on the,you know, from the steam on the ground.
And I, one time I looked down and Icould see where I was standing, where
my feet were, but next to my feetwas a footprint that was not mine.

(10:20):
It was not my size foot.
And it was right nearby me whereI had not stepped yet when I
was stepping out of the shower.
So.
There was just a moment where I waslike, wait, whose footprint is that?
And I was pretty terrifiedbecause I didn't know what to do.
But haunted houses are someof our favorite stories.

(10:41):
love the idea that a space thatpeople can live on after they die
or that we can interact with it.
There's a lot of ghost huntershows out there that try to
contact or to get evidence and
proof, recording andvideo of what a ghost is.

(11:02):
There was even a court case.
was learning about theStamwowski versus Ackley case.
A man named Jeffrey Stamwowski wasbuying a home in the 90s and he didn't
realize upon signing his contract
to purchase the home thatit was notoriously haunted.

(11:24):
Nobody wanted this house.
It had been on the market for a long time.
the neighbors and the community in thearea knew that this house was, there
was a lot of stories about noises andfootsteps and things crashing around.
And people were well aware thatthis house was possibly haunted.
He was not aware whenhe purchased the home.

(11:46):
So he went ahead and went under contract.
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [11:25.267]
But when he realized the rumors, hetried to back out of the contract.
And there was thispretty famous court case.
They called it the Ghostbustersruling because in the ruling of the
case, the judge had actually said,we need to make it part of the law

(12:10):
to disclose any haunting rumors.
You need to let a buyer of a home knowif a house is rumored to be haunted.
or
they can decide to back out of the sale.
that being an actual ruling of somebodywho it sort of legitimizes the idea
of a haunted house that some thata house or a space can be affected

(12:34):
by energy or have an entity thatdoes not feel safe for some people.
I know I am a big fan ofwatching the dead files.
show because again, it's sort of aninteresting dynamic to be able to
legitimize the things that mediumsare experiencing when they go into
a house or when they go into aspace and they can feel entities,

(12:58):
can feel certain people, certain.
perhaps people who've passed on or peoplewho have never inhabited a body but
are surrounded by a sort of heaviness.
so that show is interesting becauseit has a very logical minded private

(13:21):
detective retired from the police force.
He's really good at investigations and
He investigates the property separatelyfrom the medium who investigates the
property from a mystical point of view.
So she goes into the home and she talksabout what she sees, what she feels.
She even goes to a police sketchartist and has them sketch any

(13:44):
images that she receives in herchanneling, in her being able to,
what she's experienced in the home.
And then separately, the privateinvestigator will investigate
the history of the home.
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [13:32.647]
any events that happened there, anyone who's lived there, died there,
anything he finds out and he bringsit to the end of the episode that,

(14:06):
you know, the owners or the peoplewho live in the home, whatever they're
experiencing, it's usually not good.
It's usually like they are terrified.
They are having experiences thatthey don't want to continue or
they don't want to affect them.
And this is an effort to find out more.
find out why.

(14:28):
so it's interesting when they get tosit across the table from this medium
and this private investigator andboth of them reveal what they found.
My mom and I love this show becauseit is really, really fascinating to
see how many times, how often she isreally accurate in what she discovers.
She discovers sometimes peoplewho actually lived or have a

(14:54):
connection to the property.
And the history that the PI hasdug up will corroborate that.
it's very validating with that.
But what I've noticed at the end ofthese episodes is that when it comes
time for people to say, well, what dowe do if there is an entity or if there

(15:14):
is a certain spirit that seems to bewanting to harm us or wants to bother
us or doesn't like us living there?
What are we going to do about it?
she will often give kind ofa formula for what you could
potentially do to help the situation.
And she talks about cleansingthe space or cleansing the home.

(15:36):
She talks about finding aspiritual leader or oftentimes
she will mention a Reiki master.
She says, find yourself a Reiki masterand have them come and cleanse your house.
And I kind of love thisbecause I am a Reiki master.
I do understand that.
do understand what she's sayingand why a Reiki master would be the
perfect profession or person whocould come and help cleanse a space.

(16:01):
But what I'm hoping to be able tobring forward today when we talk about
haunted houses and types of hauntingand cleansing spaces is I'm hoping to
be able to help people feel empowered inthat whatever they've got experience that
they're experiencing with their space.
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [15:56.377]
that they are not helpless with it.

(16:24):
I'm going to share another story.
So I have a friend who is a realestate agent and she just happens
to be very connected to the worldof energy and mystic type things.
Woo woo, if you will.
She is really great at selling housesand she is extremely personable

(16:44):
when she works with clients.
So she's the kind of person who's like,
you know, during the sale of yourhouse, your water heater happened
to go out or leak or something,I will pay to have it repaired.
I will help you.
She's very much about making sure that thebuying and the selling process of homes

(17:05):
is very rewarding and it isn'tas stressful as it needs to be.
And she's very good atputting people first.
So she had a property thatshe was trying to sell.
The owners had a teenage boy and forwhatever reason, the teenage boy just

(17:28):
seemed to be kind of in a dark place.
He was getting into a lot of trouble.
He was alienating himself.
There was a lot of tension inthe home, know, things like that.
But they had asked her to selltheir home and she was having a
lot of difficulty even gettingpeople to come and see the home.

(17:49):
doing showings and she'svery good at her job.
So I know it wasn't that andI had seen the home myself.
So I knew this was avery desirable location.
It was a large home, lots ofbedrooms, lots of big open spaces.
It was light.
There really wasn't any logical physicalreasons why this home was having

(18:12):
trouble being sold or being seen.
So
she invited a Reiki masterto come and cleanse the home.
She gave no informationwhatsoever to this person.
She just knew that they are good atcleansing energy and cleansing spaces and
healing the healing work that Reiki does.

(18:34):
Reiki is just an energy of love andlight that helps when infused into
a space or into a body, it can helpcleanse and balance those spaces.
she had
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [18:23.465]
The Reiki master come and drum, whichwe'll talk about in just a minute.
But in drumming the spaces and goingthrough the space, she also was doing

(18:56):
smoke cleansing and things like that.
She did go into one of thebedrooms that the home was empty.
They had already moved out.
So she went into one of therooms and she was like, there
was a teenage boy in this home.
And this teenage boy was very disturbed.

(19:19):
It's possible that he was harming animals.
And that was interesting because inour neighborhood at the time, there
were some reports of some people'spets being harmed, like at night.
And it looked like that thewindows in this boy's room were

(19:39):
tampered with, like he had brokenthe seals or something like that.
been sneaking out of his room at night.
So whatever was going on, whateverthis young man was involved in
and how he was doing life, itwas what you might call dark.

(20:00):
I don't know if I prefer the term dark.
I think that kind of has a negativeconnotation, but it was very heavy.
It was a very heavy space.
She did some work to cleansethat energy out and to remove
it from the space of the home.
After she did her cleansing, the homewas under contract very soon after.
So I'm always relaying this kind ofstory to real estate agents when I'm

(20:27):
networking with my business Prism Healing.
I'm talking to real estate agents andI'm like, you might think that the
work that I do is not valuable to youor that it's just woo woo or you don't
necessarily understand how it works.
I can assure you that the effort put intoand the intention putting into cleansing

(20:51):
a space of any energies, whether they'reheavy or not, but cleansing the previous
owner's energies out of the home andallowing the vacuum or space to be emptied
out so that they can attract new ownersto the home can be really, really helpful.
And if you're not looking tosell your home, if you are
just a person who is like,

(21:11):
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [20:47.865]
Listen, I just want to make surethat my home is optimal or that
if there is entities in my home,
that I can have a home that's cleansedand uplifted and raise the vibrational
energy of the home itself, that thefamily that's in it is protected.
And so I'm going to talk abouta couple of ways to do that.

(21:32):
So there are a couple of typesof hauntings, if you will.
I'm going to just go overa few that I know of.
I'm sure that there are experts onhauntings and spirits that can dive
into this much more than I can, butI'm going to talk about what I know.
There are spirits, for example, spiritbeing or souls being that they had

(21:57):
inhabited a body they have passed on.
And by the way, typically if they arestaying in a space, it is because they
have not yet moved on to the next realm, moved into the light, if you will.
So they're hanging around.
So these are the types of entitieswhere it's like, they don't know that

(22:19):
they're dead or that they have unresolvedissues or they have something that keeps
them connected to what they believe tobe their physical body or their ego.
This is a painful state for them to be in.
It's not helpful to not go on.
And most of the time when spirits aresouls of somebody we know and love who've

(22:40):
passed on, they no longer remain inthe physical state of what they looked
like, what they were wearing, whattheir body, what their struggles were.
I have heard it said that when a spiritmoves on, so let's say you have grandma
or grandpa and they've passed away andthey've decided to move on, they're able

(23:02):
to move through the light and move on.
When they're in their white light selves,
you probably wouldn't evenrecognize them because they have
shed all of their earthly ego.
They are no longer in a statewhere they care as much about
what's going on on Earth.
They are ascended beings, if you will.

(23:24):
And there's many levels of that.
But I think there are certainsouls that can remain attached to
the Earth and to their lives here.
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [23:12.99]
Now, there are something calledshadow people, and I don't think
that these types of entities haveheld a body at any point in time.

(23:48):
I'm not exactly sure what they'reconnected with, and I'm not sure
they're all exactly harmful.
This is and many people willunderstand this if I say this.
This is the type of thingwhere you're not quite looking.
Your eyes are not focused on
something, your eyes are focused onsomething else and in the corner of your

(24:09):
eye, it's as if somebody walks past thedoorway or somebody walks through, you
could just see movement in the cornerof your eye and it's just a shadow.
There is a really, really greatway to make sure that your space
is safe and protected from theshadow people, whether they intend

(24:30):
harm or not, that just there are,
I some from a market one time.
There's these pyramidsinfused with crystals.
They have a bunch of crystalsin them and they sometimes have
like sacred geometry or symbols.
It really doesn't matter what theobject is, but these ones all that I

(24:54):
bought have selenite in them, whichis a cleansing crystal we talked
about in our crystals episode.
I purchased four of these.
that were intentionally infusedwith protection from a shaman
or from a person who does thiskind of work, cleansing work.
They basically put a spell on it.

(25:15):
You can call it whatever you want.
They blessed it.
These four are placed in the cornersof a space and it is protecting
the space from these sort ofentities, these shadow people.
Why or where they come from?
I'm not sure.
but they're there.
And there are a lot of people whowill agree with me who can attest

(25:38):
that they have felt or seen theseshadow people around, trying to get
into the home, trying to influenceyou in some way, trying to kind of
infiltrate the energy of the home.
There are entities and entities don'tnecessarily have to be spirits of

(25:59):
dead people, people who've passed on.
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [25:37.44]
but entities can be fromthe people who are living.
And these are like energies.
it's kind of like spirits shadowpeople, entities and energies.
Now, if someone in the home happensto be going through a really hard
time is suffering from depression andanxiety and self loathing and self

(26:26):
not participating in selfcare, there can be what
What sort of grows from that, it'ssort of like as if that person were
creating a dark cloud over them and thatdark cloud just hangs over the person.
And it can actuallyjust stay in the space.
It can stay in the home.

(26:47):
This is why a lot of spacesare affected by teenagers.
When teenagers are going through kindof that transition, they can attract a
lot of energy that can feel tumultuous.
It can feel like
chaos, just because that's sort of thetime of life that they're in already.

(27:08):
know, being a teenager is not easy.
There's a lot going on for them.
So when someone is going throughsomething like that, they can
actually create this dark energy orthey can have it manifest as if it
is an actual entity or a personagethat doesn't exist or that wasn't.

(27:30):
person in real life, then thatentity or that poltergeist
can act out in physical ways.
So there can be, you know, booksflying off of shelves, things
dropping, you can hear noises, can hear whispers, you can hear...
So lots of different waysthat that can manifest.
And for people who are empathicor really connected in that

(27:51):
way can feel it and sense it.
So people who are going to visit yourhome, for example, can walk in and...
they can sense that something isjust not quite right, that something
is heavy or off in the home.
But here is what I would like to offeryou today is that there are a lot of ways

(28:11):
to cleanse and to protect and to empowerthe living and the spaces of your home.
So I'm going talk a littlebit about that today.
So there's going to be, so I have acouple of spells that I've collected.
I've got some
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [28:04.82]
I don't know.
They're just pre-writtenspells someone made.

(28:35):
There's the sacred land and spirittree spell purification ritual.
This one is engaging with thedeity of Isis who is a healing
goddess of the Egyptian mythology.
And it says to use salts from the sea.
Salt is very cleansing as well.
So I've seen a lot of spells wherethey'll put blocks of salt or salt

(28:58):
mixed with water and that is placedall around the perimeter of your home.
So all the way around your yardor in inside the home all the way
around every room of the home.
So salt, sea salt, being a part of it.
This one says, Isis in your wisdomhelped me reflect your image.

(29:21):
My body is a temple to the goddess.
Here I worship today withhead, hands and heart and soul.
Temple of love spell.
This room is my temple, my altar to love.
I light the flame.
So this would involve a candle.
I light the flame.
I found the flame.
Each candle I burn is a wish.

(29:43):
I desire and will be desiredin return and so it is.
That's giving some, someinvitation for love to inhabit
the space and to allow that the
people in the space would love each other.
Home, this is a housewarmingspell for a new home.

(30:05):
By the way, if you've just moved intoa home, I highly recommend doing a
ritual to cleanse the home of anyprevious energies and to make sure that
your energy is invited into the home.
So kind of making the spaceyour own is really important.
Home of my body, I accept your shelter.
Home of my heart, Ireceive your blessings.

(30:26):
Home of my heart, I'm open to joy.
And so it is, and so it shall be.
So whatever way that you decideto create a ritual, there are
certain herbs that can be helpful.
If you've ever watched the moviePractical Magic, which we are reviewing
on the Witch Movie Project, so makesure that you hop over there and watch

(30:47):
that episode when that one comes out.
But we talk about theending of that movie saying,
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [30:29.572]
plant rosemary by your garden gate.
Rosemary can be very effectivefor protection, for cleansing.
But I have this book, The Holistic Witch, which talks about some ways to plant

(31:10):
certain things into your garden, whichare great for home protection, and some
indoor plants and herbs that you caninvolve in the indoor protection and
cleansing of your home.
they recommend using cow slip daisies.
Daisies and their happy little faces,of course, are excellent for just

(31:36):
sort of, how do I put this kind ofwelcoming the positive energy into the
home or any guests who are coming in,making sure that they are in a good
space when they come into your home.
and that they will be warded.
So warding is like casting a spellof protection so that nothing can

(31:58):
enter the space that is going tocause harm or is going to leave
their heavy residual energy.
Honeysuckle,
foxglove, raspberry.
I have raspberry bushes that justhappened to already be there when we
moved in, but they are kind of on theperimeter of the border of our yard.

(32:20):
I super love raspberry and raspberrycan be a great way to create space.
Here's a card that hasraspberry create space.
It's like nesting, right?
The image on that card is little birdsnesting, making their nest their own.
Lavender, jasmine.

(32:44):
One way to be able to create
to kind of include these herbs that I'mtalking about when you find the herbs
you want to use and they can be reallyanything that's meaningful to you.
I'm listing some that are in somebooks and spells, but honestly, if
it feels like, you know, this is anherb that my grandmother used to cook

(33:07):
with and when I smell it, I thinkof her and her warm and nurturing
and loving energy, then that's...
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [32:49.493]
is going to be just as powerfulin your spells as anything else.
But what I'm going to suggest, oneway to incorporate these into a spell
or a ritual is to make a simmer pot.
So in the hearth fire or on your stoveor in the center of your home, usually

(33:33):
your kitchen, you are going to boilsome water on the stove and you can
include any herbs that smell good or that
infuse that your senses withthose positive feelings.
So being able to include someorange slices, some lavender
in there, some rosemary.

(33:55):
It's kind of like you're playing potions.
When you're a little kid, if you everwent outside and you got a bowl from your
mom's kitchen and you went around andyou just started putting things in your
bowl to mix up and make a potion, that'show you make a really good simmer pot.
So you just go around findingthe herbs and the flowers and the

(34:17):
essences of things that feel likeprotection and warding for you.
And what we talked about in thefirst four episodes of Practically
Magic, if you haven't gone back andlistened to those episodes, when
you're creating a ritual or a spell, you are wanting to include the will.
So.
That's what's in your heart.
That's the feelings you're infusingin this is I am infusing gratitude.

(34:41):
I am infusing this with protection.
I'm infusing this with good feelingsthat I want to envelop my entire
home and space in with this.
You want the words.
So as you're putting your herbsand things into your pot, you
are saying, this is for love.
You know, maybe you put some rose petalsin there and you say this is to invite

(35:03):
love into my home and orange slices, which is, you know, helping me create
positive relationships with each other.
Maybe some rosemary.
And as you put that in, say this isto ward off any negative energies
that do not serve me and my family.

(35:24):
And then you're putting that allin your simmer pot and letting it
simmer and letting that steam and
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [35:05.367]
good essence, just fill your home.
Another great way is,again, we mentioned sound.
Sound healing for witches, for healers, for anyone, absolutely anyone, you can

(35:44):
infuse your home or use sound healing.
One thing is a witch's bell.
So I have here.
This is an apple bell for school.
But really apples are sacredto Celtic mythology and the
Isle of Apples is Avalon.
And so I went ahead and purchasedthis bell specifically for ritual.

(36:08):
I also have a staff with bells on it thatI use for this exact purpose as well.
But I go around to doorways, doorsthat are going to go outside the front
door, the garage door, the back door.
and I just make sure that I ring thebell around the perimeter of the door.
And as I'm doing this,I'm putting the will.

(36:30):
My intention is to ward off anything thatdoes not belong in my home and to create
a barrier of protection from anythingentering my home that does not serve me.
Before I got into any of this mysticalstuff, when I did not know a single thing
about energy, energetics, or anything

(36:51):
how works.
I remember there was a time whenour house, our home was very heavy.
We were all going through a lot.
My husband was very stressed outat his job and struggling with
quite a few different things andmyself being the partner of a
person going through all that.
Plus I was, I think at the timeI had just had my twins and

(37:13):
that was a really hard time.
I was trying to take care of a littletoddler and twin babies and kind
of doing a lot of that on my own.
so the house and homejust seemed very tense.
We were kind of at eachother's throats a lot.
It did not feel like a loving space.
It felt like we were all alittle bit hard on each other.
And I just remember thinking, we haveto do something to change this up.

(37:35):
We have to, we have to do something.
And I told my son who was fourat the time, I said, do you
know what we're going to do?
We're going to go around thehouse and take all the nasty away.
We're going to take all this nasty.
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [37:25.142]
out of the house, all the badfeelings, all the yuck, all the, you
know, just anything we don't like,we're gonna take it all out and we're

(37:56):
gonna send it out the front door.
And I went around the house and weliterally just with our hands, we were
scooping up bad stuff out of the air, outof the corners, out of the shelves, out
of the doorways, anywhere behind beds.
We went all over the house and I just keptsaying to him like, come on, let's scoop
it up, scoop it up, let's scoop it up.

(38:18):
And we did that and he had a blast.
He thought this was thefunniest fun game ever.
We went around and scooped up all the badstuff and we sent it out the front door.
We opened the front door and weliterally just pushed it out.
And come to find out years later thatthis ritual that I created before I even

(38:39):
knew how to do a ritual was exactly right.
It was exactly what we needed.
all felt a difference.
felt a shift in the world and it feltlike our home was peaceful again.
That whatever we had letdevelop or bring up in this...
So that's what you can do with bells.

(39:00):
You can send it out.
Drumming is an extremely effective way.
I have my drum, of course, that I use during healing.
sessions, reiki sessions withclients, but drumming is breaking up
the energy and sending whatever youwould like to move out to move out.

(39:21):
Of course, there is smoke cleansing.
However, I am going to bevery, very specific about this.
A lot of people engage with sagingwhen they first decide to start
doing ritual cleansing or preparinga space for something ceremony.
A lot of people are using white sage.

(39:43):
Now, white sage is aindigenous people's practice.
The people who lived here in NorthAmerica, many different tribes of
the North American continent, usedsage practices during their sacred
and spiritual ceremonies, and theyare not for us to appropriate.

(40:04):
So,
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [39:42.211]
For people who maybe don't understandwhat Sage was used for, what its
purpose was, and it's not our cultureto be using Sage, I would invite you
to second guess that and think ofanother way that you can engage with

(40:25):
something that is more appropriatefor your culture or for your heritage.
I was also told
by members of tribes that saging practiceswere actually used to invite spirits,
not cleanse the space of spirits.

(40:45):
And so you can imagine how spiritswould feel if they were in your
home and they were standing aroundwatching you and you're just over
there with Sage being like, getout, get out, get out of my home.
They're probably just standing aroundthere going, what are you doing?
What is that?

(41:06):
But you can cleanse a spacewith smoke and it is possible.
The Nordic tradition of usingsmoke cleansing is called seining.
And you can use seining with someitems that are indigenous to your own
heritage, cultural homeland, right?

(41:26):
So I have here, if you're watching onvideo, this is a bundle that I've made.
I went foraging for some plantsthat are invasive here because
it's not indigenous here.
Mullen or Mullane is one thatcreates those big stocks.
and they get really invasive.
They're kind of everywhere.
a friend of mine, Bergen at NourishingKin taught us how to go and forage for

(41:49):
these and they have really big fluffy, soft, almost like lamb's ear, leaves,
which are great for creating bundles.
Now you don't need to light thisor smoke this in order to use it.
It, inside I have.
pine tree and lavender leaves, lavendersticks, and a couple of other things

(42:10):
that I found that are more indigenous tothe places that I have my family comes
from or my cultural heritage comes from.
And in studying, saying and what itis and how to use it, it's appropriate
to know what you're doing and whatyou're engaging with before you.

(42:30):
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [42:07.107]
participate in that ceremonial practice.
And that is why maybe, you know, finding somebody who is a Reiki master
or someone who is a shaman or a mysticwho has done the work is a good idea
if you want your space cleansed inthat way, rather than just heading
over your local shop, buying some sageand then being like, I sage my house.

(42:54):
Look at me.
I'm so witchy.
Okay, so.
You absolutely don't have to engagein any of that if you don't want to.
But one of the reasons why witchesare associated with brooms is because
a lot of witches, or those even thatweren't witches, were just accused
of witches being witches, woulduse brooms to cleanse their space.

(43:19):
I actually have purchased thosereally great cinnamon infused
brooms that you see at the grocerystores around this time of year.
I love to buy a new one every year.
I have made my own besums.
Broom is actually the grass.
It's called broom that theywould use to make besums.

(43:41):
And besums is the wordfor what we call a broom.
So in making a besum, havegathered, you know, plants and
different things and then, youknow, tied them to a large stick.
And that is not for cleaningmy home of dirt because
probably would actually dirty my homemore, losing leaves off of it and stuff.

(44:04):
But while I'm making it andwrapping it, I am also infusing
it with spells, intention, asking
for what it is that Ineed this besom to be for.
But I will buy those cinnamon infusedones and I have a space above my
front door where I hang it every year.

(44:26):
So I take the old one down, I'll burn itin my fire, I'll burn it outside or I'll
do something, you know, a ritual with it.
Taking that as a intention of allof the energy that this broom has
collected throughout the year is nowjust going to be sent back into the
universe and repurposed into positivethings and fertilize the world of

(44:50):
energy for new energies to take place.
So
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [44:31.886]
What that broom above the door is forme is it's kind of like a cleansing
of anyone who enters the home.
So for guests who come into my homeor for any of those energies that
someone might have had a rough day orthey're going through a lot and I don't

(45:13):
want that to come into my home andstay, that's what that broom is for.
Okay, so.
I highly recommend that certainspaces that have a lot of people
coming in and out and kind of leavingtheir stuff, a therapist's office,
beauty salons, I have offered theplace where I go get my hair done.

(45:40):
The last time I was there, it felt great.
It felt like an amazing space, butthere have been times when I've
gone there and I felt the heavinessof every person who's come in and
out in the last couple of months.
It feels like people come and they sitin the chair to get their hair done.
And sometimes they just leave their stuff.
Either they're talking about theirthings they're going through or

(46:00):
what's difficult, or they are kind of
just a lot is weighing on them.
They're kind of coming in with all ofthe energy they're holding in their
body and they might just release it.
They might be there to relaxand to let a lot of it go.
And so they'll

(46:21):
Dump it without even realizing it.
A lot of people do this andthey don't even know it.
Now this isn't, you know, the samething as being haunted by ghosts,
but it can create an atmosphere wherepeople start to feel very irritable.
They start to feel the energiesof things that have been left
behind without realizing it.

(46:42):
They might even ask themselves, Iwonder, I wonder why I feel this way.
I feel, you know, soirritated lately, or I feel.
You know, like I'm carrying a lot or I'mreally stressed out and I don't know why.
So I have offered and you know, typically I will just do this for
anyone who asks me, but it's basicallythe same thing as a Reiki session.

(47:05):
If someone is coming to me tohave their body cleansed and to
have, you know, to let a lot go.
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [46:49.183]
I know how to keep myself safe fromthose energies and I know how to keep
my Reiki room safe from those energies.
So I cleanse the spaces quite often.
Again, I have these crystals on thesedifferent rituals that I participate

(47:27):
in to make sure that whatever peoplelet go of during Reiki session, that
doesn't stay on me or in my space.
So
that is a really great point.
to remember is that if you have a spacethat is your business space or it is just

(47:50):
a space where a lot of people are comingin and out and you want to make sure
that your space remains clean of anythingthat the people are leaving behind,
you can cleanse that space as well.
And there's a lot ofdifferent ways to do this.
So we've talked about some of them today.
What I hope that you will understandabout this discussion today.

(48:11):
about cleansing spaces and haunted housesis that no matter what's going on in
your home, whether you feel that it'shaunted, that there are spirits or ghosts
that are haunting your space, or youjust feel like there's a real heaviness
going on, you can't quite pinpoint whatit is, or you feel like you're waking
up in the middle of the night a lotand you feel like it's not coming from

(48:34):
you, but there is just something thatkeeps waking you up and bothering you.
There are a lot of really, reallyhealthy practices that can keep you
safe from any entities or any energiesor spirits that might be affecting you.
that the living, those of us withthe living energy, the force that's

(48:56):
inside of us that creates our aurathat makes us alive, that is a
really powerful, powerful energy.
And that most of the time it'smore powerful than whatever
energy is that's trying tobother you or inhabit your space.

(49:16):
So even just creating a ritualor an intention, something that
banishes, wards and protects you
is really effective.
Even when I started to becomeaware of the times when I...
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [49:10.009]
been woken up in the middle ofthe night and I feel like there

(49:36):
is someone who's actually tryingto bother me or get my attention.
It's usually not harmful.
I've never had anything thatwas really actively trying
to harm me, scare me maybe.
I've had a couple of instances where theimages that are coming into my view during
those moments have been pretty scary.

(49:58):
But as soon as I started torealize that I had the power to
that to banish it or to excuseit from my space and that when I
did that it actually did leave.
That's when I knew that if we allknow this about ourselves, if we

(50:19):
are able to understand our ownpower, we never need to be afraid.
There never needs to be a reasonfor us to be scared of our home
being haunted because when we speak
and step into a space ofempowerment, we can do the work of

(50:39):
banishing or excusing or warding
and protecting that spaceand saying, you can go.
And one more thing to remember isthat if there is an entity that was
a spirit who is probably alive atsome point and is now kind of hanging
around, it's not usually the spacethat they're hanging around, it's you.

(51:06):
They're trying to feedoff of your life energy.
They're trying to, and in most cases, and this is something that I didn't
realize at first, but now I do.
In most cases, when someone has anentity influencing them, they might
start to feel like they just feel off.
They don't feel like themselves.

(51:27):
They don't feel like when they look in themirror, they don't recognize themselves.
We can pick up these energiesanytime, anywhere, any place.
And then they are justsort of following us.
They're just sort of part of us.
And when that happens, it's not usuallythe entity or the spirit that wants to
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [51:22.535]
harm us.

(51:47):
It's usually because theythink they can help us.
And I'll give you an example.
I know somebody who was really, really struggling with addiction
and they were just really goingthrough a very difficult time.
Their children were having to golive with their mother because

(52:10):
they were just struggling a lot.
trying to figure out life.
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [51:58.096]
This person found out through, again,a Reiki master that they had an entity,

(52:31):
a spirit of a large, burly type ofman who also struggled with addiction
in his lifetime when he was alive.
And he attached himself to herbecause he saw those similarities.
He saw or resonated or vibrated with her.

(52:52):
in that sort of addiction space.
And instead of moving towards thelight and moving on like he, as a
spirit, should be able to do, hefelt like he needed to be around
her because she was struggling withaddiction and he thought he could help.
What was actually happening was that hisown energy of struggling with addiction

(53:14):
was just hanging around her, attachingto her, and it wasn't helping her.
It was
causing her to stay in thatstate of mind, in that state of
energy, in that vibration, right?
So when she went to a Reiki master tocleanse and to let go and to send that

(53:34):
person through the light, to move on.
she began to start to heal, tofigure herself out and to move
into a space that was energeticallyready for recovery from addiction.
That's an example of howthat can sometimes happen.

(53:55):
So if you ever feel like, I don't knowwhat's going on, but I do feel like
something's just not right, or I feeljust kind of like I'm being affected
by energies that are not necessarilymy own, I would highly recommend a
Reiki session to help cleanse that.
There are Reiki masterswherever you are, I promise.
Wherever you're listening, you will beable to find somebody who can help you.

(54:19):
And I absolutely believethat if you set it out,
Ride The Wave MediaPodcast Network [53:58.125]
the intention of looking for someone whois just the right person for you, you will
find the person capable of helping you.
If you live locally here in Daybreak, you can come to my practice locally.
However, here is thebest part about Reiki.

(54:41):
One of my favorite things aboutReiki, it can be done at a distance.
It can be done over technology.
I
have done Reiki sessions with people, and I have even done home cleansings
with people who do not live nearme, who live across the country.

(55:03):
And there are ways to do this.
So I highly recommend you canget ahold of me, find me on my
website, message me, whatever youneed to do to get in touch with me.
And if you are havingissues with your home,
your space or yourself, your own body and space.

(55:24):
I highly recommend entertainingthe idea of a Reiki session.
So how to find me?
Well, I am on Instagram atprism underscore healing.
