Sorry. I had to reupload this podcast. It was getting cut off at the end.

Imagine a room sealed shut. No hidden panels. No alternate exits. No clever puzzles left to solve. There is only one way out. In the center of the room stands a man holding a key. He is not shouting. He is not forcing it into anyone’s hand. He simply says, “This is the key.”

Around him, conversations multiply. Some argue about the walls — how thick they are, who built them, and who should be blamed for being trapped. Others debate strategies, hierarchies, and theories. A few suggest the real exit must be hidden somewhere else—something more complex, more impressive, more fitting of the situation.

The man with the key is noticed but dismissed. It cannot be that simple. It cannot be him. So the discussions continue. Plans are made. Time passes. All the while, the key remains in plain sight.

This is the setting of John 7:32–36. Religious leaders are debating authority. Crowds are speculating about power and outcomes. Officers are sent to take control. And standing in the middle of it all is Christ — clearly speaking, plainly present, openly offering what no one else can provide. Yet the question echoing through the room is not, “Is this the key?” but, “Where else could the solution possibly be?” What follows is not confusion due to lack of clarity, but confusion born of unbelief.

“You will seek Me and will not find Me.” (John 7:34). The tragedy is not that the way out was hidden — but that it was rejected because it was too obvious.
