🎙️ Niurka Meléndez, directora de Venezuelans and Immigrants Aid (VIA), nos habla en este nuevo episodio de Raíces acerca de las medidas migratorias que afectan a personas venezolanas en Estados Unidos.
⚠️ Para Meléndez, una activista comprometida con los derechos de las personas migrantes venezolanas en ese país, es preocupante que detrás de medidas como la suspensión de la extensión del Estatus de Protección Temporal (TPS), exista una narrativa que intenta mostrar que la situación política y económica del país ha mejorado.
Recalcó la directora de VIA que la mayoría de las personas que han usado las protecciones migratorias lo que desean es contribuir con conocimientos, experiencias y buena voluntad al país de acogida. Por ello considera necesario que se revisen los términos de esta revocatoria y que se establezcan otras protecciones, analizando caso por caso.
A las personas que están a la espera de resolver su situación migratoria en Estados Unidos, Meléndez les recomienda:
✅ Buscar información solamente en canales oficiales y fuentes confiables.
✅ Revisar detalladamente su caso.
✅ Buscar la ayuda legal necesaria con abogados acreditados en EE.UU.
✅ Evitar escuchar a personas que no conocen su situación específica,
✅ Ser compasivo con uno mismo, reconocer que se está pasando por un momento difícil, con una fuerte carga emocional, que requiere apoyo.
