(01:00:00):
This video is about your biggest fears.
The fears you breathe
every single second.
But it's not about death.
It's all about life.
After a busy day, a stressful one,
with all my fears,
I started on bed reading Fear by Ocean,
understanding and accepting the
(01:00:20):
insecurities of life.
Fear by Ocean
But my fear was still there.
It was haunting me.
Fear of death, uncertainty, failure,
enemies, ducks, strangers,
(01:00:42):
name it, there are a lot of fears.
Day in and day out, it is haunting me.
Fear by Ocean
So, how can I get rid of my fear?
How can I become fearless?
(01:01:02):
Not to be without any fear,
but fearless in front of my fears.
So, where does this fear coming from?
You were not born with fear.
When you are in the womb,
(01:01:24):
there was no fear.
For sure, your
parents, doctors, relatives,
whoever was there,
present when you were born,
they were all in fear.
But you were not.
So, you were in the
womb with eternal security,
with all the freedom you have,
and when you were born,
you were just born into the unknown.
(01:01:46):
But still, you were not in fear.
You start identifying people around you,
then among that people,
you identify yourself.
Then, fear started.
So, fear is the result
of a false identification.
(01:02:09):
So, a born child is
actually very much vulnerable.
He has to depend on a lot of people.
He won't carry a teddy bear,
not as a toy, you will think like that,
but as someone, a friend,
who he can ask for help
when he is in trouble.
So, we create that psychological barrier,
even when we grow up,
(01:02:30):
we have those teddy bears.
You will ask me, where is that?
Actually, God is a teddy bear.
We used to pray for God,
or we used to think God as a parent,
an elevated parent who
is there to protect us.
And when you start learning prayer,
(01:02:50):
you think that this is
the way to inform God
that you are alone,
and he must be there to protect you.
In John 3, Jesus replied,
"No one can find the kingdom of God
until they are born again."
So, that born is not something
(01:03:10):
you are going to get born after you die.
No.
You have to die
yourself with that false ego,
and then you born again, without that.
Then, you will see that
kingdom of God within you.
There are three
fundamental fears we have.
First one, fear of dying,
second one, fear of going crazy,
(01:03:33):
and third one, fear of letting go,
or fear of orgasm,
all these things.
So, we will come to
detail on each of them.
So, fear of death,
that's actually not about death.
It's all about life.
We miss to live that life.
Somehow, we try to postpone the life.
(01:03:55):
Maybe that's correct.
So, then you are fearing
because you put
everything for a later period.
So, what happens if you die now?
You are not able to
enjoy what you postpone.
So, that unlived life,
that's actually the fear of death.
It's not actually we fear the death.
(01:04:16):
It's the other way.
So, instead of just postponing your life
for retirement or for later,
tomorrow and tomorrow,
just try to live the whole life today.
Just live for everything what you have.
Then, fear of death disappear
because there is no unlived life.
(01:04:38):
If you think that, okay,
you just earn
everything, have everything,
then on the retirement,
you are going to enjoy everything.
Actually, it's a very false strategy.
You are going to lose
70 or 80% of your life
and then the last 20%
(01:04:58):
you will have just left everything what?
Like the rose,
it lose every fragments
and every juice of that.
Then, it will be just like
an almost like a dead flower
waiting for death.
What's the point of
enjoying everything at that time?
Life is as beautiful as a rose.
(01:05:21):
So, rose,
it will just bud,
then it will become
bloom with a good flower
and couple of days,
it will just die, right?
And also stilling,
that is the beauty of rose.
If we want rose to be permanent,
(01:05:46):
then it has to be a plastic rose.
Then there is no beauty.
Same applies to your life as well.
If the life is just plastic,
it's not beautiful.
Life will have its own
spontanities and uncertainties.
That actually makes it beautiful.
So, the whole universe
(01:06:07):
work in chaos and uncertainty.
Stars are born out of uncertainties.
Like that everything.
So, we have to somehow appreciate
that spontaneity and
uncertainty and mortality.
You have to die,
then only it is beautiful.
(01:06:28):
Rose has to just drop from its plant
otherwise it's not beautiful.
It is always there,
nobody is going to appreciate it.
We actually fear God.
Even Mahatma Gandhi,
the father of nation of India,
even people respect him, even myself,
I do respect Mr. Gandhi.
But also stilling,
(01:06:50):
about a quote from Mr. Gandhi,
is that,
"I fear no one except God."
That was the quote from Gandhi.
And also stilling,
that's absolutely stupid.
God is not supposed to be fear.
And God really don't want
you to be fearful with him.
(01:07:12):
He don't really want your money.
He don't really want the
food you give it to him.
I'm just telling, I'm not
telling any particular religion or
anything, generally.
Just think it in another way,
he is a universal heartbeat.
He created everything around you,
even including you.
(01:07:32):
So, if he really expects something,
that could be,
the love, appreciation and gratitude
towards the life he endured upon you.
Otherwise,
he doesn't much care about the fear.
And also, we try to
(01:07:52):
trade with God.
If you do that,
I will give you this.
If you don't do that, I don't care.
But that doesn't change anything.
So, the point is that,
if you think that, okay, I do this,
then he'll be there to protect me.
(01:08:13):
Then that's different thing because,
he is protecting everybody,
even somebody who is praying to him,
or not praying to him,
because he's a God for everyone.
So, God is not fear.
He's actually love.
God is not there to control you,
because he provided you a life
full of choices.
(01:08:33):
So, you have to take your choice
and make your life.
That's all about life.
And religion,
it is not about restriction.
Religion is not about fear.
Even though your priests and politicians
may be selling fear,
God doesn't want to do that.
He is omnipotent,
he is omnipresent,
he has everything what you have.
(01:08:55):
You don't have to give anything to him.
So, he is helping you,
he is loving you,
so just love him back.
Your fear is incurable.
Yes, it's an incurable thing because,
it is not a disease.
It is just a symptom.
So, you cannot cure a symptom.
(01:09:15):
Or,
in another way,
you cannot solve
something which is absent.
Like, if you are in darkness,
you cannot solve darkness,
with darkness or anything.
Only,
with light,
you can just get out of the darkness.
So, what is absent,
(01:09:36):
is not the thing,
what is present,
you have to focus on.
So, fear is not the cure you need,
what you need is love for your life.
You cannot escape that.
Even if you go to Mars,
you run as a captain, wherever.
Or, if you go deep under the ocean,
or somewhere in the cave,
still,
you cannot escape that,
(01:09:57):
because,
it's already with you.
You,
death doesn't need to find you.
It is just,
part of the life.
It's just a completion of life.
Actually,
you live and die every single second.
Like, if you breathe,
you are living.
(01:10:17):
If you exhale,
you are dying.
So, that,
life and death,
is happening every
single second of your life.
So,
death is not something you have to just,
not believe,
because people look at it,
most of the people,
believe that they don't die.
(01:10:39):
Only, they get that revelation,
when some of their close relatives,
or their friends,
then they will think that,
okay, maybe I am going to die.
Otherwise, they live most of their life,
not,
putting a thought,
that they are going to die.
They believe that they will be immortal.
But actually, you cannot escape.
(01:11:00):
Second one, fear of going crazy.
It's abnormal, right?
So,
you are actually,
in a society,
we will try to fit in,
we be normal.
And somebody is behaving differently,
we call that person abnormal, right?
But actually,
you are,
born as unique,
(01:11:21):
then,
you cannot actually be normal.
But we try to
sacrifice ourselves and all.
So,
there is two things,
social distilling,
self-consciousness
and self-awareness.
Both do not say,
it's different.
Self-consciousness is the "I",
who I am,
(01:11:41):
that consciousness of you.
And that actually,
it is not going to help you,
for sure,
it is going to help you,
when somebody is attacking you,
right?
That's your ego in the place,
like it's a prison of "I".
But in another way,
if you took self-awareness,
(01:12:03):
that is something,
you are looking deep inside you,
that is somehow understanding the truth,
or getting pregnant with the truth.
That is actually,
a recipe for freedom.
So,
you don't have to be
self-conscious all the time.
(01:12:24):
Just,
don't have to be in the prison of "I".
Just be self-aware,
then you will be just expanded,
or you will have that freedom.
Also,
it's telling
something very revealing here.
We used to consider
ourselves as a unique entity,
right?
(01:12:44):
But actually,
we are very much negligible.
We are just like a drop
of water in the vast ocean,
of all the people,
or whole universe.
We are also part of that universe.
But what's actually happening,
we are compressing that whole universe,
whole ocean,
(01:13:06):
into a drop.
What will happen?
So, imagine,
you take all the water of the ocean,
you compress it to a drop.
It will have its own pressure,
just to release.
That's what's
happening in your life as well.
You are actually part
of that whole existence.
You are not only you.
You are part of that
(01:13:26):
collective consciousness.
So, be with that.
You are not in you.
So, that self-awareness,
like Rumi used to tell that,
you don't have to follow the fear.
Look within.
He used to just roll around,
around he was telling,
(01:13:46):
around 36 hours.
He just roll around and
roll around and roll around,
like a meditation.
Meditation is something
like looking inside you,
because there is no "I" present there.
So, dive deep into the ocean of life.
You should be called crazy.
That's okay.
Because there are two
ways to swim an ocean.
(01:14:09):
You can swim on the surface,
or you can swim in the deep ocean.
Right?
But all the beauties and
abundance of the whole ocean,
that's all in the depth.
You are just skimming the surface.
So, you should be somehow
able to dive deep inside you.
(01:14:30):
Or in another way,
just try to enjoy
everything what you have.
So, you should enjoy your foot.
You should enjoy your whatever it is.
You enjoy your home.
Enjoy your car.
Enjoy your life.
Enjoy your touches.
Enjoy the fragments of life.
(01:14:51):
Enjoy the delicacy of
the foot, everything.
So, enjoy everything.
Be abnormal and dive
deep into the ocean of life.
So, third fear is fear
of letting go of yourself.
It happened everywhere.
Like Hosho is telling,
when a cutter, a wood
cutter is cutting a wood,
(01:15:13):
actually there are two things.
One is a cutter and there is a cutting.
The moment the cutter disappears,
then it's all spiritual.
It is just merging to
the whole consciousness.
When you are in work,
you lose yourself.
That's actually, you are just subliming
(01:15:34):
to the whole things.
So, that is letting go.
That can happen in all the ways.
If you do it in work,
if you do it in your bed,
if you do it in
boardroom, wherever it is.
So, we fear the intimacy.
It is not because we
are afraid of people.
No.
Actually, we are afraid of ourselves.
(01:15:55):
Or in another way,
we are afraid that
people will see our emptiness.
We are afraid of exposing
our emptiness inside us.
That is why we are away from intimacy.
But actually, the first step
is to accept that emptiness.
(01:16:17):
Emptiness is normal and
emptiness is abundant.
The whole universe is empty.
But stars are born out of the empty.
Planets are revolving
around that emptiness.
So, emptiness is infinite.
You should appreciate that emptiness.
Just next time,
when you have that fear of intimacy
(01:16:40):
or when you plan to go and meet someone
or just go to an event,
if you have that fear,
just try to test this one.
Just accept the emptiness
or just tell yourself,
"I am okay to be known to them.
It's okay to just be
as me in front of them."
(01:17:00):
That moment,
your fear of intimacy disappears.
Intimacy needs to fly.
So, Osho is telling,
"If you want to intimate
relationship with two persons,
it's not necessarily like
a couple, marriage couple,
whatever, whoever it is,
two bodies cannot combine.
It's a matter.
(01:17:22):
But two psyche can combine.
So, instead of that
intimacy or love making
or whatever it is,
like love, a platonic love
in terms of friendship or whatever it is,
that should happen on a
higher realm than the body.
It should do it on a spiritual level.
(01:17:44):
Then it will just fly.
We destroy something by possessing it.
For example,
people used to complain
that when somebody is dating,
they are very nice,
but the same couple
when they got married,
there is no love.
Nothing is there.
Because that ownership,
that possessiveness
actually destroy the love.
(01:18:08):
So, we think that,
"Okay, whatever is nice,
I want to have that dream home,
that dream car,
who are the dream partner,
whoever it is,
we try to own them."
For sure, part of the society,
we have to own something.
But actually, that
ownership is very much relative.
(01:18:28):
Actually, in some way,
like, "Okay, I own that land.
I own this home."
That is very much
restricted to some document
or something like that.
Right?
But instead, you try to
appreciate that thing.
Because when you try to own something,
there is a problem here.
(01:18:48):
We will have the fear of losing that.
So, if you don't own anything,
there is no loss here.
You are just appreciating it as it is.
And also, ownership
actually complicate the things.
If you think that,
"Okay, that is your husband,
or that is your wife,
or whoever it is,
(01:19:08):
that is your friend,
you own that friend,
then that's the problem."
Then you will have that expectations
and such things will come in place.
Instead, if you just take
them as a separate entity
and appreciate them as they are,
then there is no such problem there.
So, actually,
(01:19:29):
ownership or possessiveness,
or your desire to possess,
is a recipe for your
own headaches or fears.
So, as a summary,
we are now going to
conclude with the antidote to fear.
First one,
the most precious
antidote to fear is love.
You cannot remove fear.
(01:19:52):
Because fear is an energy,
you cannot destroy it.
It can be only transformed.
So, transform that into love.
Then another one,
escape from the reality.
So, you have to understand the reality.
If you escape from the
reality of who you are,
(01:20:12):
what is the reality happening?
What is the life?
What is the truth?
You cannot escape from fear.
Be self-aware.
Just be aware of yourself.
That's important.
It is not self-consciousness,
as we mentioned, it's different.
So, that awareness,
understanding of yourself,
how much short the life is,
(01:20:34):
what life is supposed to be,
then you will
understand all the potential
uncertainties and spondenities of life.
And you will appreciate that.
Whatever frightens you, go into it.
Fear is always in the future.
There is nothing in the present.
Fear is not there.
Fear is all about the unknown.
(01:20:56):
Right?
So, just try to go into it.
Just do it.
When you're going to do it,
that's the present thing.
It's not about future.
And there is no fear.
You are just in action.
You just learn it,
or you just fail it or succeed.
Whatever it is, there is no fear there.
You are all in action.
(01:21:16):
Don't be in a hurry.
Follow the rhythm.
So, there is the rhythm
in the whole universe.
Like if you try to speed up yourself,
it will not work.
Like there is a
rhythm for a rose to bloom.
There is a rhythm for planets to revolve.
There is a rhythm for everything.
It's all analog here.
(01:21:37):
Nothing is digital.
So, you try to just
change your rhythm of life.
It will not happen.
Just try to enjoy the process of life.
Like you cannot make it fast.
Okay.
This is now and this is the end.
You don't have to just switch from
beginning to the success to the end.
(01:21:57):
No.
Just enjoy the process.
Follow the hurry.
Don't be hurry.
Follow the process.
Don't make fearlessness as your goal.
You don't have to be fearless.
You only have to understand, accept,
and appreciate the truth of fear.
That should be your goal.
(01:22:18):
Don't be afraid to exhale.
Or don't be afraid to die.
As we mentioned, inhale
is life, exhale is death.
It's all part of it.
That's what life it is.
It is telling you yourself, if you stop
exhaling, you cannot live.
If you stop inhaling,
you cannot live as well.
So, that is part and parcel of life.
(01:22:42):
Birth and death is part of life.
That's it.
If fear is there, accept it.
That's the best thing what you can do.
If you enjoy this summary, we have got
another book from
Osho about Haril Jibran.
Please try to watch that.
