We yap about VenetianPrincess, the late 2000s parody music queen.

Neither of us was familiar with VP before this episode, so listen to us track her content journey from the early Disclosure series, to her breakthrough with a Hillary Clinton friendship song, to her highly popular parodies of pop songs.

VP would become ‘The most subscribed female on YouTube’, and her videos featured cameos from some of YouTube’s top creators. But it was not to last, and an algorithm change led to declining view counts and eventually, VP stepped away from YouTube.

(00:00):
In 2006, an early 20 somethingJodi from Brockton, Massachusetts
started her YouTube channel.
She quickly gained popularity throughher early videos, featuring high tech
editing, fantasy, world building, and a quirky sense of humor before
exploding in popularity with her parodymusic videos, and became YouTube's
most subscribed to female creator.
But as the years continued on andthe algorithm changed, would this

(00:22):
YouTube royalty continue her reign?
Welcome to Rewind Time, thisepisode, Venetian Princess.
Yeah, it's, it's rewind time.
Rewind time,
. Welcome to episode 10 of rewind time.
Wow.

(00:43):
Double digits.
I know they said we would nevermake it and they are wrong.
Who's they?
The collective.
They, you know who you are?
The haters.
The haters watching.
Oh.
Oh.
You think we have haters?
Oh, I, I know we have haters
episode on one episode.
Episode.
Oh, one episode in particular episode.
I won't name names.
Wow.

(01:03):
Wow.
You know.
Okay.
Starting
Mosh has shooters.
They didn't tell me that when Istarted the podcast, but there
are some OG YouTubers who die.
You're entered Die Controversy
era.
I'm in my shock jock era.
No, I'm in my no insert.
YouTube name here?
No.
No.
Okay.
How are you?

(01:23):
I am all right.
How are you?
I'm going well.
You're going well.
You got have Oh, having a little sip?
Yeah,
having a little sip.
This is actually a Sunday record.
Wow.
Did it inside baseball for you guys.
Normally we do Saturdaymorning, but I gave you a
reprieve from the content minds.
Wow.
Yesterday I took you for a walk.
We went to a,

(01:43):
went to a bakery, a lovely
inner west location.
Wow.
That we won't name.
Yeah.
For fear of.
We we're, we're gatekeeperson this podcast.
Yeah.
Uh, well anyway, uh, for those ofyou who are returning, you know what
this podcast is, but if anyone isnew here, welcome to Rewind Time.
Uh, this is a YouTube history podcast.
I am Lucy, a YouTuber whospends too much time on YouTube,

(02:08):
both now and historically.
And this is my co-host, max and Max.
What's, what's your deal?
Oh, I haven't seen any YouTubereally at all until before.
Probably, probably 2019.
Okay.
Yeah.
But through this podcast with someexceptions, but, um, largely and not
familiar or know anything about, uh,what I would describe as quote unquote,

(02:32):
like YouTube culture YouTubers.
Yeah, yeah.
But you're learning throughexactly the course of this podcast.
Well,
the thing is, I think man on the street,if someone was like, tell me about
2007 YouTube culture, given we are10 episodes in, I'd actually be like.
I'd be telling themeverything they need to know.
Wow.
Okay.

(02:53):
Then they'd be like, what happened next?
And I'd be like, I have no idea.
Um, I only watch early YouTube.
I should be like, it's likea, I'm a YouTube hipster.
I'm like, oh yeah.
It's all like, it'slike too commercial now.
Right.
I only watch And speaking of YouTube, hipsterism our subject today.
Mm. The YouTuber we're covering issomeone who, if you ask her about
what YouTube is like, she's very muchlike, it was different back in my day.

(03:16):
Back
in my day.
Yeah.
Back in the years.
I think she is very representativeof early YouTube actually.
And you know what?
So, so much so that I think with mostof the early YouTubers we've covered,
not all of them, but most of the oneswe've covered on the pod so far, I
have somewhat familiarity with eitherbeing subscribed to them or having
watched them quite a lot, you know, back when I was in middle school.

(03:39):
But this YouTuber, I actuallydid not, I. Know about.
Mm. And we, a friend of thepod, Fran recommended that we
cover her and obviously she hasa place on the YouTube Yeah.
Wikipedia page.
But I also got DM from one of my followerson Instagram saying we should cover her.
Yeah.
So you should, um, the thingis, the actual first encounter

(04:00):
we had with Venetian Princesswas in the Michelle Fahan.
Why I left YouTube video.
Mm. When she did an animated mockupof the early YouTube interface.
Yes.
She featured five creators.
Mosh being one of them, butVenetian Princess was another one.
And we at the time were like,we don't know who that is.

(04:22):
Yeah.
And that's when I spoke to Franand she was like, oh, you need
to talk about Venetian Princess.
She's like, key to early YouTube.
Okay.
Okay.
Yeah.
But I think,
is this the first.
Creator that neither of us have
any
Yeah.
History with,
I think other than, uh, I was aboutto say redacted other than Philip
DeFranco, who I wasn't like a subscriberof, but was like very aware of.

(04:45):
Yes.
Um, I think this is the firstYouTuber on the pod that neither
of us like knew about at all.
Mm. Which is quite interestingbecause she does have a spot
on the YouTube Wikipedia page.
Like she's an early big YouTuber.
I mean, obviously in this episode we'regonna get all into it, but, um, I think,
yeah, I guess, I guess a bit of a, adifferent pathway and a bit of a different

(05:07):
journey than some of the other YouTuberswe've covered so far to, to a degree.
Would you say that's,
well, without spoiling her career is muchshorter than some of the other creators?
Y
yeah.
Yeah, I think the span of, um, contentand we cover is from 2006 to about 2014.

(05:28):
14. Mm-hmm.
So, yeah.
Um, I think maybe a couple of othercreators have been a bit like that,
but then they sort of go on to do othersocial media stuff like they change to
Twitch, um, as we saw with Ryan Heger.
Or they change to be like more of acontent, content like aggregator or
network or change to another channeland do different kinds of content.
But this is a, this is a differentsituation with Venetian Princess, but

(05:50):
Max tell we, should we get into it?
Do you wanna take us away?
Yes.
I will preface all this with, uh, afamiliar sort of announcement in that, uh,
Venetian princess has pried or ah, yes.
For copyright reasons.
Some of her early videos mm-hmm.
Have been taken down.
Some of the more personal ones havealso been taken down, I imagine.

(06:11):
Not for copyright reasons, uh, but wewon't really get too much into that.
But the early series that she becameknown for, uh, was disclosed it
later became the Princess Chronicles.
Yes.
And essentially what this is.
So there were many episodes of this.
We come in at episode 11 of disclosed.

(06:34):
Yeah.
Um, but actually, my apologies.
We actually come in at episode four.
Then the next video onthe channel is episode 11.
Right, right.
So I think that kind of.
Uh, shows how, like,
I should also say this skips about toanyone new because I feel potentially we
might get some new listeners through this.
'cause I don't think therehas been a lot of coverage on
Venetian Princess as of recent.

(06:56):
So if anyone new listening, um, the way wedo the podcast or just a refresh if you've
been listening, um, is we go throughthe channel in chronological order.
Um, hence why we're talkingabout the fact that a bunch of
episodes are private and missing.
Like we've got a kind of a,a gap in history, I guess.
Um, yeah.
So we'll be going through from the earlychannel to her more recent content anyway.

(07:17):
So we start with, uh, mission Xbox.
Yes.
Which is disclosed episode four.
Mm-hmm.
And this is like a Charlie'sAngels spoof, would you say?
Yeah.
It's like Charlie's Angelsand Mission Impossible.
It's sort of yeah, like acombo of different spy tropes.
The matrix.
Yeah.
Big matrix energy.

(07:38):
Uh, this video camp.
Yes.
So sleigh, yes.
I think we were not expecting, like I knew that Venetian and
Princess', like mainstream thingis parody songs and we'll talk
about those.
Yeah.
People
love those at YouTube at this time,
you have no idea, like you thinkwe're done with parody songs.

(07:58):
There are so many more YouTubers.
I know there's so manymore parody songs to go.
I don't wait.
Um, but this series is likevery one very edit intensive.
Mm. Even though it's all shot in herhouse and there's like a, a premise
of her trying to like get through herhouse to get to the Xbox, to play Xbox
in like various like household things.
Mm-hmm.

(08:19):
Like
come alive and try andprevent her doing that.
Mm-hmm.
Um, but it's like you as someonewho works in video production Yes.
Would you estimate.
How long do you think thiswould take to put together?
So when we were first watchingthis video, my instant, like my
first instinct was, oh my gosh, like this would be an insane edit.

(08:40):
Um, for reference, in case youdon't know if you're listening, um,
I am a YouTuber, but I mostly dolike fashion, lifestyle content.
Probably more typical to what youwould see for like a typical YouTuber.
I don't do like, obviously I doa lot of editing, but it's not
like super intensive level edits.
This is like artistry in editing.
Like every, I, I cannot imagine howlong this would've taken her to edit.

(09:02):
I would say like a hundred hours.
Yeah, it's maybe that's true.
No, I think that's probably right.
'cause it's like a four to five minutepiece of content and it's like every
other like three seconds has likesome insane like effect or edit.
She's using like green screen stuff.
It's really highly, highly impressive.

(09:24):
'cause it's 2006.
I've never seen,
and she's using like the consumerediting software available
in 2006 is, uh, a fraction ofusability compared to what we have
now.
I straight up, I saw this and I was like, this woman is like an editing savant.
Yeah.
Like she is an alter.
This is cinema.

(09:45):
Um, I've not, yeah.
It was so impressive and so funny.
It's so camp, um, and I don'tknow if it's like self-aware camp
or not, but it's extremely camp.
It's so funny.
I think in terms of early YouTubestuff, among the best videos
that we watched we've ever seen.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So if anyone wants to go watch it.

(10:07):
This one was, uh, disclosed.
Yeah.
The Xbox.
Yeah.
One Mission X Xbox.
It's the earliest, um,video on her channel.
Yeah.
And it's.
Delightful.
Um, it, it's just, and I feel like wealready said the premise, but the, the
entire premise is just like, my boyfriendis always on the Xbox, and I'm always
wondering what's so good about the Xbox?
She goes on the mission throughthe house to find the Xbox, and

(10:28):
then she plays the Xbox and she'sbasically like, yeah, I get it.
Playing Xbox is fun.
That as a premise, you'relike, walk, how could that be?
But this girl is fully doing likematrix, like shot for shot remakes.
And I just wanna say my firstinstinct was Mil Kovich.
Is that who's in the Matrix?
Yes.
Yeah.
Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
She's not in the Matrix.
She's in Resident Evil.
Oh.

(10:48):
I just had milli Kovich on the brainbecause we were looking at all of those.
What's that movie?
No, you're thinking
of Kate Beckinsale.
So who's in the Matrix?
The Matrix.
The woman that plays Trinity.
Yeah.
Carrie Ann Moss.
I believe her name is
Mos.
Okay.
That's a random name, but sure.
Fine.
Trinity could, no, Venetian Princesscould do the Matrix, but Trinity could do.

(11:10):
Mission Xbox.
No, no, you're correct.
Sorry, that was a really,I fumbled that joke.
So, so quickly we get to
episode 11, just given all the othervideos have been taken down and this
one is a complete like tone shift.
It's like medieval in setting and itopens with, and I'll use this 'cause

(11:31):
I'm sure everyone is familiar with it.
The beginning of Shrek, wherethere's the picture book.
Yeah.
That opens and they go page by page.
She does that, uh, to intro thestory, and then it's like a medieval
sort of, it's like a comedy video.
I admit I didn't understand the plot tothis at all, but clearly she's playing
every character in different costumes.

(11:53):
It's
so impressive.
Oh, and oh, I didn't even say, andI'm sure I'll say this multiple
more times, but the makeup again, like, so this woman is an editing.
Master, like such impressive editing.
And I can say that as someone who spenttoo many hours in Premier Pro and just
doesn't bother, like after effects,dunno, her can't, I won't do it.
I'll just do like low, low, low, uh, what's it called?

(12:16):
Low, low effort, butlike high return edits.
You are,
uh, you're about efficiency.
I'm about efficiency.
I'm about efficiency.
And I also prefer, I'm from theschool of like, Antonio Gaza.
Like, I, I love her like a, asort of like a, a low quality,
like shitty, but like funny edit.
Um, that's my, that's my sense of humor.
But there's woman high qualityedits, but also doing full s effects.

(12:42):
Makeup, like really impressive, likefull like latex noses and stuff.
And I'm like, what can't this woman do?
Because at this point VenetianPrince is in her like early twenties
and I'm like, she is so talented.
And we come to find outshe's even more talented.
Like it's like a, uh,like a, what's it called?
Wow.
My brain is so not working today.
No.
Uh, like the nesting dolls or likean Russian doll, if we're gonna use

(13:05):
the Shrek thing, she's like an onion.
Every layer we peel back, there's more layers of talent.
Um, so yeah, the SFX so good.
Both like in post-production and actuallyin the, the makeup wigs, costumes.
It's so impressive.
But yeah, we are crucially missing a lotof, there's, I, there's a lot of law and
it seems like inside jokes, which we don'tget at all because we're on episode 11

(13:30):
and there's clearly been a bunch of otherepisodes, which would probably make this
funnier, but it was still impressive.
Yeah, she does do a joke about PrinceWilliam and that sort of ties into
her name Venetian Princess, whichif you go by Wikipedia, is about her
loving Venice and Princess Diana.

(13:51):
So it makes sense thatshe is into the Royals.
However, we did actually watch anothervideo where she gave a completely
different reason for her name.
Um, yeah,
yeah, it's like, that was the later.
So that's on Wikipedia, her lovingPrincess Diana and the Rose.
And that's in like later videos.
Yeah.
In like the most recent.
It's like she updated her own channellaw because the earlier example is what

(14:13):
I look, don't we both, uh, andof course we don't know this for
certain, but I think we suspect thatVenetian Princess herself has made
some additions to her Wikipedia page.
Oh, we're gonna bring that up right now.
Look, no, just,
just while we're on it.
Okay.
Well.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's fine.

(14:34):
Her, okay.
I, a lot of
celebrities do this at a certain levelof Yeah, the agents will let publicist
go and Yeah, it's not irregular, it'sjust that, um, there are just lots
of like, details on her Wikipediapage where I'm like, Hey, why would
anyone know that other than no source?
Like, and, and no source.
I think that's the thing.
Okay.
Wikipedia is all about those citationsand it needs to, you know, you are citing

(14:57):
what website or what interview that, that factoid came from, and there's just
a lot of stuff on her Wikipedia page, which like doesn't have any sources.
So then surely if it has no, youknow, second party citation, it has
to be first first primary source.
Primary source.
Um, but what did her, what, what is her, what was her first
explanation of her channel name?
Do you remember?

(15:17):
It was like the
one on Yanks interview.
It was, so her name is Venetian Princess.
She said it was Princess Diana.
And
in the yank interview she said itwas because she liked Disney movies.
Right.
Yeah, she
loved princesses.
She likes princesses.
And the Venetian part was the Venetian
has to be about Venice, right?
Oh,
no, she said she's, she's likehalf Italian or something.

(15:39):
Isn't that it?
Oh,
I don't know.
Look, it was, look, there'sbeen different, uh, law slash ex
explanations for her channel name.
I'm sure they're probably allactually true in some form or another.
Whether it's Princess Dianaor, you know, Cinderella.
All the same as
we've seen with Ryan Heger.
You know what, you startjustifying your name.

(16:00):
You can
change history.
It's flexible.
Yeah, exactly.
It doesn't have to be forever.
Um, but yes.
So third and most likely thefinal, uh, like disclosed, sorry.
Disclosed.
Disclosed slash The Princess Chronicles.
Yes.
Disclosed slash The Princess Chronicles.
Again,
style video, different
names.
You can change the name of a series later.

(16:22):
Why not?
Uh, CIR.
The mystique, which is a, likethe setting of this, sorry, the
like the cinematic style is anearly 20th century silent film.
So think black and white thinkflashes to captioned, like title
cards to explain what's going on.

(16:44):
Think like guy playingthe piano in the theater.
Like instrumental music.
Yeah.
And it's her base, it's like a fairground.
And she similarly like, plays allof the characters and there's like a
full narrative with the title cards.
And then she also sings in this video.
Yeah,
she sings.
Is it, it's like anoperatic style, I would say.

(17:05):
Yes.
Yes.
And so then it is revealed to usin our immediate Google searching.
'cause we're like, whoa.
The singing is kind of giving.
She is a trained opera singer, likea classical singer, and she went to
the Boston Conservatorium of Music.
Yes.
So again, it's like editing prowess, tick.
Makeup prowess tick.

(17:25):
And now she's like a trained singer.
I just, in these early videos, like you have to understand
we're only on like a video four.
And I'm like, who is this woman?
Like where has she been all my life?
She's so talented and so, so interesting.
Um, but that's kind of the, theend of those like really early
highly edited style videos.

(17:47):
We do see the editing kind of returnthroughout her content, but yeah, in, in,
in all my ears, in my ears on YouTube,I think the closest or like the most
we can liken her to and other creator, and it's not just because we've also
talked about him on rewind time, butNeil Riga and some of his editing Yeah,
I agree.
Editing
content, just like so creative.

(18:10):
I think that's what I'mtrying to get at here.
It's like I have not seen anyother creator make any type of
content either of this, like ofthis kind and to this quality.
Yeah.
Like that combined.
I just, yeah.
Truly incredible.
I can't recommend herearly content enough.
It's so cool.
Yes.
So before we get to the mainstreambreakthrough, which happens in 2008, at

(18:36):
the moment, all these clips are in 2007.
Yeah.
We get a what's left on the channel.
That is, we get an update fromVenetian Princess because she has
been getting a bunch of media coverageas one of the sort of somewhat, um,
popular female creators on YouTube.
Mm. Um, and so she's featuredon a attack of the show, hottest

(19:00):
Woman of the Week segment Wow.
At number eight.
And she's very proud of this.
And, you know, they even,it's actually crazy.
She shows the clip in thevideo and the guys are like.
Now she's a bit more clothed thanour usual pics, but number 80
is YouTuber Venetian Princess,uh, which is like a, that

(19:22):
with the, the Australianaccent is so funny.
Um, it's obviously
they're American, but she
says that, um, she's got a millionchannel views at this point.
Mm-hmm.
25,000 subscribers.
Wow.
Same.
Exactly.
Wow.
Why aren't you on Gfour attack of the show?
Hottest babes of the internet?
You know, it's actually
a great question.
I am not sure, but um Okay.

(19:42):
That's a shame.
Yeah, it clearly, it's early YouTubeand she's, she's killing the game.
Well, she mentions, she's like, I'mtrying to get the Jay Leno appearance
on my channel, and we are like, what?
She was on Jay Leno?
Yeah.
Well, I don't know.
Or maybe she.
So she had an interaction withsomething to do with Jay Leno.

(20:03):
Mm. We tried to find it.
Couldn't find it.
Yeah.
She clearly probably couldn'tpost it, but I imagine she
was just on the Tonight Show.
Yeah.
It is sad because I feel like withsome of the creators where we haven't
been able to, like where they've maybetaken some videos down and stuff,
like we've been able to find archivesof them because they, you know, but
unfortunately for Venetian Princess, itseems some of this is just lost to time,

(20:25):
which is a bit sad, but nonetheless.
Alright, here we go.
This is our first big video.
Mm-hmm.
Sort of propels her to a newlevel of YouTube popularity and
also a new channel direction.
Mm-hmm.
Because it's sort of like influencesbasically all the videos after this.

(20:46):
Yes.
The video is Hillary Be My Best Friend.
So in 2008.
2008. Okay.
And what it is, is a, Idon't think it's a parody.
I think it's
an original song.
I
think.
Yeah, I agree.
Um, but it's a video directedtowards Hillary Clinton.
Clinton, uh, our former secretary of State

(21:08):
presidential nominee,
uh, as fellow Americans.
Uh, and yes, unsuccessful nomineefor president, unsuccessful
nominee in 2008 for the Democraticpresidential nomination.
Mm. Um, so serial loser.
But this song is about how, uh, basicallyfrom Venetian princess perspective,

(21:29):
she's like, Hillary, you are so cool andeveryone's hating on you, and we could be
best friends, but the perspective of itis somewhat making fun of Hillary Clinton.
Would you agree?
Yeah.
There's that one line that I reallyremember where she's like, because
you know, you need a tent pulling herpale, which I don't know about that.

(21:49):
I don't know about the, thewhite on white tan hatred.
I don't know about that.
Yeah, I, so that's very likemid two thousands, like.
You need to be tan, like you look pal.
I think
people would still,
no, people still say that, especially in Australia.
I say that all the time.
Always crazy when girls are just like,Ugh, I look demented and I'm just here.
Like, it's also when, when

(22:10):
the person in question is like thetarget is 60 years old, it's like, I
don't know if we need like 60-year-oldwomen to be fully beach babe hand up.
I don't know if that's a vibethat really works at that age.
I also need to say
that we do find out that we're notdoing like fake tan, like airbrush
we're doing like going in the solarium.

(22:32):
Yeah.
Which in case you didn'tknow is so bad for you.
Um, if visual, uh, video listeners canprobably tell I'm, uh, anti anti-cancer.
I, I don't think you should
IC from the pod.
We are antit tan.
Tanning is bad.
Tanning is bad for you.
Tanning is skin cells and trauma.

(22:52):
Correct.
It's literally so bad for you.
If you want to use like spraytan or like fake tan as fine.
Like live your best life, but alsojust like you're fine as you are.
Mm.
Uh, you are beautiful.
You
should disclose your working relationship
with the cancer council.
Yeah.
Just for ethics.
'cause we are journalists.
Wow.
Yeah.
Hmm.
Ha ha ha.
Uh, so I did one sponsoredvideo with the cancer council

(23:14):
because I am seeing you're just
biased on cancer.
I,
okay.
So there this Hillary video, shehas like a cut out of Hillary.
Uh, she's like really glammed up.
Um, it's the same thing.
She's, she's serving face so intensely.
I feel like I'll just say thisso many times throughout this
episode, her glam is crazy.

(23:34):
But she's got the cut out ofHillary, but it's all green screen.
The editing is like on a similarlevel to the disclosed slash
the Princess Chronicles series.
Yeah.
It's really well put together.
It's so impressive.
And you can see why thiswould be a viral video.
Yeah.
Like an early viral video.
Yeah.
Because it's timely political.
I know, exactly.
Yeah.
So it's
CNN, Fox News, NBC, Washington Post.

(23:55):
Everyone posts this video.
Um, so she has a massive uptickin like channel subscribers.
Gets a bunch of views and she even, she puts in the description here.
She's like, I am a Hillary supporter.
Oh, this one pokes fun at the press she'sbeen getting at recently, not at her.
Hmm.
It's all in good fun.
Hmm.

(24:15):
Even if you are not aHillary supporter, come on.
You know, it would befun to hang out with her.
Would it be fun?
Uh.
There's also some, uh, referencesto Bill, bill Clinton in this one.
Uh, like we should dye his hair.
Um, it'd be good to do ona double date with him.
And given, I
mean, I'm kind of hisrelationship on Bill,

(24:37):
you know
Monica Lewinsky?
No.
Well, I was thinking of a certainlate financier of note who has
an affinity for private jets.
Oh.
Um, and his own island.
Oh.
I don't know if I'd want to go ona date with Bill Clinton to be real
y Yeah, yeah.
No, yeah, no, exactly.
Anyway, look, this one channel pops off.

(25:00):
We get a little update, uh, from herin terms of this video Fear of Flying,
which is half sort of vlog, half,it's like a skit, skit, comedy video.
Yeah.
But she mentions she's going to lawhich obviously if you're a pop in
YouTuber in the late two thousands,it seems that's the place to be.
It's, it's the YouTuber pilgrimage.
You have no idea the law aboutis moving to LA is so, I mean,

(25:21):
I suppose you do have an idea.
I
mean, it's just likeworking in entertainment.
In entertainment.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But yeah, you'll see some later YouTuberswill cover in future episodes where
it's no longer you've changed, butthere's a narrative which is like,
you've changed because you moved toLA and that becomes like a big thing.
I
have, I'm so tired of the, you'vechanged narrative on YouTubers.

(25:43):
I
like the person, the IQ ofsomeone to comment a video
being like, you've changed.
It's literally like.
It's things used to be better.
Like my friend used to be myfriend, and it is, oh, I just,
and I used to still now, in 1945,
I bought a house for $2,000.
Everyone's
just like, I like old thing better.

(26:03):
It's like, well then watch old thing, bro.
It's still
there.
Except actually notwith Venetian Princess.
It's not there anymore.
Yeah, it was at the time though.
But
yeah, no, um, I feel, I'm so sorry.
'cause you're like, I'm so over peoplebeing like, YouTube you've changed.
And I'm like,
it's gonna come up in prettymuch everyone we ever cover for
the rest of time

(26:23):
anyway.
So she goes to LA.
And we now start a part ofthe channel, which I, I don't
think she moves to LA though
Unclear for,
I think she just goes tolike do some for work stuff.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Some, some auditions meetssome, meet some people.
'cause she's like the Popin.
And at this point, was shethe most subscribed to Uh, no,
it's coming shortly, I believe.

(26:45):
Sorry.
Sorry.
The reason horses and the
reason we're saying mostsubscribed female, which very
clunky in terms of it's um, I
hate saying female.
Yeah.
Anti female in any like no.
That you are so diabolicalfor saying that.
No, of course I'm not anti female.
It's more that I find that, Ifind the vernacular of saying
like, female is so like.

(27:05):
Like red pill vibes being likethese females, you know what I mean?
It's like woman, it's very scientific.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's, it's weird.
It's, it's almost liketaking the pers Okay.
Not in every instance, but you know what I mean.
Like, it's just, it's look.
Yeah.
The reason we're getting into thisis that her brand, like her tag for
ages is the, it's at the time it'slike the most subscribed female on
YouTube or now it's like, for a timethe most subscribed female on YouTube,

(27:29):
but, and not woman, which is fine.
And I suppose maybe that's like what, how they would categorize it at the time.
It's just an odd, it's a, it's a just,
I, I think both of us would probablynot have gendered stats in our.
I mean, I think it's, but that's a
personal thing, I think.
No, I think it's fine.
I think, I

(27:49):
think it's okay to say you arethe most subscribed to men or
like woman on a platform orsomething like that because, well,
it's, no, it'd be really weirdif Jimmy Beast was like the most
subscribed man in the world.
Well, he is.
No, but he just says YouTuber.
Well, but he is though.
If you are, no, but he
wouldn't say.
Okay.
But if you are number one of both,
yeah,
then of course you're gonna pickthe one where it's like, I'm the
most subscribed of any person.

(28:11):
But if you are number three inthe world, but you are the most
subscribed to woman, that is meansyou're number one in something.
Right?
Yeah.
So I get, I get it from that perspective,it is like a, it's like a, it's,
it's, you know, you put it on yourLinkedIn, you put it on your resume.
I was the number one mostsubscribed to definitely woman.
Definitely LinkedIn
friendly,
LinkedIn friendly.
But okay.

(28:31):
I wanna get
into, okay, the Miley Cyrus,we're getting ahead of ourselves.
Seven things guys don't have to do parody, which is a parody of the Miley Cyrus song.
Seven Things, you know, that song.
Um, the seven things I Hate About You.
Yeah, yeah, yeah,
yeah.
I shouldn't say this banger I
have listened to probably on the radio.

(28:54):
I don't think I've ever listenedto a Miley album besides Bangers
and the follow up album to that.
Mm-hmm.
Where she briefly was doingsome interesting stuff, uh,
but not this era of melody.
I had seven
things on my iPod, Nana?
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
Seven
Things is a good pop song.
Yeah, it's good.
Um, but this video is like, um, soit's a full parody, so it's the same

(29:16):
like melody and, well, we'll getinto it, but not it's what is so some
parody songs, they just take like the, the, the instrumental the stem Yeah.
Or the instrumental from the actual song.
Mm-hmm.
And they will sing over that and theyare like, well it's fair use 'cause
we're parodying so we can, and it's
transformational.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah, it is.
So no
one sues us.

(29:36):
Mm-hmm.
Um.
But, um, what Venetian Princess doesis that she has someone recreate
the sound of the original song, andthen she will perform over that.
And in the description she's like, well, this is like literally a new song.
So like, it's not like you can'tsue me, me, uh, they couldn't

(29:58):
sue you anyway.
They couldn't sue you anyway.
Maybe, you know, all the YouTubesthat had their stuff taken down,
maybe she was ultra conservative.
I think if
you were really worried aboutcopyright, and to be fair, if you're
using an instrumental, sometimes theinstrumentals will flag the copyright.
So I understand that.
Yeah,
I do understand that.
You can also use like the, thelow quality karaoke tracks,

(30:19):
which is like, well, low quality,a bit objective, I would say.
No, I mean, like the quality ofthis, her self-made recreation
is worse than the karaoke.
It sounds really bad.
It's, and I don't know ifit is specifically in this
one, but it's in a bunch of.
Like, spoiler alert, there's somemore parody songs where she just,
like, I, I'm, I'm trying, I thinkI know why she does it, but I sort

(30:41):
of still don't, is she changes themelody of all of them very slightly.
It's actually very, uh, to throw back toour last episode, it's very, um, lonely
Island doing the Jack Sparrow song.
Mm. Where it's like, sounds almostlike the pirate of the Caribbean theme,
but it's like slightly different.
She does that here too, where it'llbe like one or two notes off, or like,

(31:04):
she'll just slightly change the rhythmin the chorus where it then becomes
like, it's like she doesn't, it justfeels really weird 'cause it's like
we already know it's a parody song.
You're already not playing.
It's like you did the full, like, redo of the instrumental, but then
you've also changed it so thatit doesn't totally sound like it.
So it sounds a bit off on purpose.
I get it.
But then it just sounds wonky.

(31:26):
I don't know how to, I don't know.
And it's hard to like do it becauselike how do you do it wrong?
But it'd be like.
The seven things I hate aboutyou, but she'd be like, the
seven things I hate about you.
It would be like that, whereit's like, why I get, I get it.
Like I, I, I see the thinkingbehind it, but it does just feel
from what we know now and for howcopyright works and fair use works.

(31:46):
Now you are a bit like, whydo, maybe it's a case where
like if you have a musical background, like she does the urge to like make it
your own work is actually too strong.
It works against, well maybeit's just a, a real respect
for copyright where she'sjust like, that's wrong.
Like I should make my own music.
But then it's like, but you're doinga parody song, so I don't know.
Anyway.
Yeah, look,
we are pretty negative on this, but atthe time this, everyone was like, this is

(32:09):
one of the funniest videos of the year.
This is, this is good stuff.
This is
so, okay.
And the reason why I think we werebringing up the most subscribed female
thing is because this video is so.
If you're familiar with like Buzzfeedstuff or like college humor stuff, which
is, comes maybe a little bit later, more in like the, you know, early 2010s.

(32:31):
But this is, so girls be like, boys belike, I just, and to me this is some
of my least favorite type of comedy.
Like, and I'm not saying that we can'thave things where it's like women relate
to X, y, Z, but it is so like womenhave to shave their legs and boys don't,
and it's like, okay, I don't know.
This is so unfunny to me.

(32:52):
I'm sorry.
I feel so mean.
It's, it's just not my cup of teaI get, but I get why it's popular.
'cause it's very, like, men don'tunderstand what we have to go through.
Men affirm Mars women.
Venus,
uh, yeah, I, I broadly agree it's,I know maybe I'm a bit naughty, but.

(33:13):
The premise where it's like womendo all these things just for men.
I understand In the contractsthere's the patriarchy.
Yep.
No, but I also think if you lookat, uh, something like the cosmetics
industry, overwhelmingly all
careful here,
that is not, uh, naturally marketed.
No.
It's marketed at the decision.
This is maybe whereoverwhelmingly women, this is
where we disagree.
I'm not saying that.

(33:33):
Yeah.
Women can't look at this podcast.
We're like, let's talkabout YouTube videos.
Women we're also like, but whatabout the patriarch in 2008?
Well, yeah,
that's why I don't, that's why I'm not,I'm not putting my full chest into this.
I just think it's, it's, I don't know if
I totally agree that's a parody
song, so it doesn't need to be like,
it doesn't have to.
I just think, I think yes, obviouslywomen contribute to the patriarchy in

(33:56):
their, in our own like way through inlike internalized, you know, misogyny and
all that good, all that good fun stuff.
But I will say that I don't reallytotally agree with you because the
amount of like men, we could show them.
A picture of a woman in likesoft glam makeup and they'll be
like, that's a natural beauty.
Like stupid.
You're stupid.

(34:16):
So like, yeah, no, I don't really, I thinkthis is more so creating a joke about like
all the things you do to like invis theinvisible labor of beauty that you do.
Um, and also it's just like havinga period, which again is like,
this is obviously, it's like 2008,so this is very just like women

(34:38):
afab, like, you know, we being verygender essentialism kind of stuff.
But it is sort of is true that youdo a bunch of stuff for men that
is not acknowledged, but it is kindof the equivalent of like, when you
wear makeup every day and then theone day you wear don't wear makeup,
everyone's like, you look tired.
You know what I mean?

(34:58):
Like, they just don't know that you'rewearing make, you're not really a great,
you don't really, this isn't really you.
I'm not really attackingyou in this instance.
I you're not like the other men's sweetie.
You're different.
I wanna say Miley Cyrus herselfmade a comment on this video
and it's actually crazy.
A lot of her channel, there's a lotof Miley Cyrus content it and other

(35:21):
YouTubers she collabs with alsomake lots of Miley Cyrus content.
This is very, you know, becauseit's that era where like Miley Cyrus
is like Post Hannah Montana prebangers and she did that, um, video.
Oh my gosh, what's it the, um.
Can't be tamed.
Yeah, that's like 2013.
That's like, oh really?
Oh, sorry.
Come on.
Come on, mom.

(35:41):
2013 I think is bangers.
Can't be tamed, but this is inthe, like, Jamie, pull that up.
Who is that?
We only have two peopleworking on this podcast.
Um, from what I understand, who's Jamie?
Jamie is, uh, the produceron the Joe Rogan experience.
Oh my God.
And he says that, do you listen
to the team?
I, I, I have tried.
It's very long.
It's like four hours in episode.
I don't know.
Time, price can't be doing that.

(36:01):
Uh, so count be tamed is 2010.
Okay.
I, I remember that being like sexy.
And everyone's like,wow, Miley's going crazy.
And then like, she just uppedthe ante even more later.
I think.
So this is pre that,
but was this in?
Okay.
And this is where we come intoit issue because we were like
children at the time of this era.
Like we were not adults.
Um, but this was, I think in theera of like, oh, like Miley's

(36:24):
partying, like tabloid Miley stuff.
Mm. Um, and Venetian Princessdefinitely does lean into a lot of the
tabloid celebrity stuff I would say.
Yeah, we later learned that.
We later learned
that.
But there is, yeah.
This is the first that we see.
Sorry, sorry.
Multiple videos.
Hannah, Montana.
Hannah was still on the air, it air till
2011.
Wow.
Yeah.
Iconic.
Did you see the Hannah Montana movie?

(36:45):
No.
Last episode I said thatit was a Nickelodeon show.
Yeah.
So that shows the extent ofmy Hannah Monte law knowledge.
Yeah.
Uh, you
don't deserve to speak her name.
No, I, I like Miley Cyrus.
She's cool.
Okay.
No, no one asked.
Like that's my extent of
no.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
But so, but they, but this isthe first in several videos and

(37:06):
we didn't watch all of them.
'cause there's like a bunch on her channelwhere she does like Miley Cyrus parodies.
I think she does good.
Well she does a pretty solid, like,Miley, it would be impersonation.
Oh yeah.
We should
talk about on Miley, the Miley Cyrusversus Selena Gomez boxing video.
This is weird.
Where it's like first person perspective.

(37:27):
Celine's head on the respectiveboxes and they're punching
each other, and then she's
wearing wigs and makeup.
It's not like,
oh,
I don't think it's, no, no, it's,it's Venetian princess in Oh, wig.
Wig and makeup.
She does, you know, lookalike makeupfor both of them and is doing boxing and
like a, a wrap battle kind of thing where

(37:47):
she's, it's not a very long video.
It's
is, this is odd,
but the hook is, she's like, you guysdecide the winner comment down below who
you want to win,
which is like, very transparent, like engagement bait.
Hey, have to respect it.
Like
two stands, two respective Stan Armies.
Mm-hmm.
She's like, you guysfight in the comments.
Mm-hmm.
Spam your creator's name.
Mm-hmm.
And Ashley, do you remember who wins?

(38:10):
No.
No.
Selena.
Wow.
The Selenas, the,
the Seline.
Is that their names?
Pretty sure.
What's, does Smiley have stands?
What are they called?
Smiley's.
Oh yeah.
Okay.
Maybe.
Sure do know.
Uh, but Selena wins.
But yeah, so there's, there's alot of just Miley Cyrus obsession.
Miley commented, I didn't saythis, she just said, you have the

(38:31):
biggest eyes I have ever seen.
Which is kind of funny 'causeit's neither like, it's not like
positive, but it's also not negative.
It's
not being like, haha, this video's funny.
It's not being like, what is this?
This is so mean.
Yeah.
It's just, you have the biggesteyes I've ever seen, period.
Miley.
That's funny.
Yeah, I agree.
Medium.

(38:51):
Um,
but do we, I don't know if we get intoit later, but you know why she makes
all this content about Miley, right?
No.
There's like, that'swhat I was saying before.
No, what are you kidding?
There's an ongoing feud on her channelwith Miley, because Venetian princess
was the most subscribed to female Oh.
But is competing with Miley Cyrus.
'cause Miley Cyrus has aYouTube channel, so she's like.

(39:15):
Trying to rally the troops behindher to be like, obviously like,
let me an ordinary girl beat this.
Yeah.
Basically YouTube Nepo Baby iswhat she's trying to Oh, okay.
Yeah, it's
coming back to me now.
Yeah.
So there's few, have youalready watched Blocked Out?
We only watched it like videos in
between here, but yes, there is a,like a pity pie vti series kind of

(39:37):
drive where Venetian Princess islike, I need to be the number one,
the number one female on YouTube.
We hate
saying it.
She, she wants to be the numberone girly pop on YouTube.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Uh, and so she does a parody song,uh, with a line, the number one
female spot can be a normal girl.

(39:58):
And, uh, she basically has all of herfans send in videos, I mean, of support
that are like the background to this song.
Yeah, the music video.
Yeah.
I mean, at least she's,she's punching up like.
Miley Cyrus, you know, teen immediately.
Okay.
She's punching up.
But equally, I think Miley islike quite a bit younger than her.

(40:18):
So that's the, is she stilla teenager at this point?
Yeah, I think that's my only awkwardnessis when people have like beef with
like celebrity teen slash children.
Like if you are beefingwith like Surrey Cruz.
Yeah.
I'm kind of like, that's a child.
Mean it's a very
one-sided beef, it seems.
Well, yeah, I, I would actually befascinated to know how much Miley
Cyrus knows about Venetian Princess.

(40:39):
'cause like, you know, if you arelike a teenager and there's one woman
on the internet who just obsessivelymakes like parodies of you, but
like, I don't know, you're filmingHannah Montana, filming Hannah
Montana movie, you're writing music.
Uh, maybe, maybe you don't have the time.
I don't know.
But uh, yeah, that's like thebeef, that's like the long running
beef of this channel is just herwanting to be number one over Miley.

(41:03):
So she makes like severaldifferent Miley Saras song covers.
Yeah.
Um, it's like the ongoing Miley SARS
Christmas, she does that one.
Does Miley Cyrus impressions in it?
I have no recollection of this.
We watched it bit.
Yeah.
Look, we,
okay, let's smash through this.
By the way, the Miley content, the, the Miley Drive, she did
successfully become number one.
She does, because
she becomes the number one mostsubscribed female on YouTube Neo.

(41:26):
And I'm the most subscribedfemale on YouTube.
I don't know.
Sure.
Doing the number one mostsubscribed female in, and then
it's like your street name.
Maybe I'm the number one mostsubscribed female in Sydney, whose
name starts with l who, uh, like, uh,uh, was born in another state and uh,

(41:54):
uh, and has a boyfriend named Max.
Correct.
I am.
Winner.
Everyone clap.
Um, so the seven things video pops offand then we get more parody videos.
Uh, we have an eye kiss to girl parody.
Mm.
It's called the Elderly Remix.
Oh yeah.
This one.
And it's like sort of the same premise, but it's What if you kissed an old lady
Yeah.

(42:14):
Instead of a hot woman.
Um, and the joke is, well, old people are gross.
They're
not mutually exclusive.
But in this video, the joke is no.
Well, I mean, yeah.
The comedy in some of thesevideos is sort of like a bit, I
don't wanna say like confused.
It's just like the joke is, oldpeople are gross, but then the
other joke is that old people aregross, but she doesn't think so.

(42:37):
'cause she's kind of into it.
Ha ha ha ha ha.
Yeah.
It's tough to be the parody musician thatwe do after The Lonely Island episode.
Yeah.
And it's, I would say also tough tobe the same person who made those
really sick videos on green screenswhere you do like matrix bullet time.
Yeah.
And then you.
Uh, like, aren't old people gross?
Yeah, it's not okay.
It's it's not that serious.

(42:57):
It's just, it's a joke.
Is it?
Particularly in my taste?
Oh, I think
it could be funny.
Oh.
It's just the quality ofthe parody song is bad.
And also the jokes are not funny.
I, I need to talk about this becauseit, it reminding me of this point
of I Justine, who we've recently, you know, cut on friend of the
podd friend of the pod commenternumber one commenter on rewind time.

(43:18):
We love you.
I Justine.
I Justine, we love you.
Um, but it is reminding me of thatbecause I do feel like at the time,
and maybe you can speak to this, 'causeobviously you are new to all this,
I'm like somewhat familiar with songparodies and whatnot, but I Justine's
parody songs are like quite bad.
Right.

(43:38):
But they're really funnybecause they're so bad.
Yeah.
Or they're so like silly, liketonight's gonna be a profile pic
night, the Black Eyed Peas one.
I still think that's funny.
Yeah.
And I still think about it all the time.
She also
only did a handful.
And she did like quite
a few.
She did like 10.
No, but
like it wasn't her whole channel.
No.
Which is what we went through herewatching like 40 of these in a row.
Yeah.
But you were like, wow, these are terrible.

(43:58):
But I think, you know,it's like the They camp.
Yeah.
Yeah, they camp.
It's like the uncanny valleyof like parody music videos.
And I think some of this does sit in thatvalley where it's like they're not so bad
that they're funny because she does havelike, she's, she's vocally proficient.
Yeah.
So she can sing.
The quality of the music inthese is imp is a bit better.

(44:19):
Yeah.
Like she's, and you know, she's fullyrecreating all of the instrumentals
and stuff, so it's like she's tryingreally hard, the quality of the
video itself is not poor, like.
Bless, bless our Queen I, Justine.
But like those green screenvisuals were like atrocious.
Like the edit was like a bit cursed.
Whereas the edit onthis is like quite good.
Like she's trying really hard.
Yeah.
She's trying to recreate themusic video of from Ka Perry.

(44:41):
But then, so then you are only sort ofleft to really criticize the humor and the
lyrics, whereas like there's a lot morefor you to pick at at the i Justine ones.
Does that make sense?
So it just sort of sits in thatweird thing where it's like it's
not bad enough to be camp funny.
Right.
Yeah, a hundred
percent.
Yeah.
Okay.
I was just, just checkingthat you agree with me.
Um, they're not, we may not likethese, but they were very popular.

(45:02):
Yeah.
Her channel at this point hada hundred thousand subscribers.
Wow.
She did the classic ahundred K subs video.
Uh, she used videos from her fans.
This is like a commonmotif she'll go back to.
This is
really cool.
Yeah.
And so impressive.
Basically she gets a videomessage, not messages, but video
like clips submissions Yeah.
From her fans.
Yeah.
And she features themsort of like in a collage.

(45:23):
Through the video, likea montage basically.
But I think
she even almost does it in like the waythat you would do like a fan project
where in some of her videos she willgive them instruct, like she will
record and write the song in advance.
Or sometimes I think even she'spotentially informed by what
the fans do in the videos.
Yeah.
And then they're likecontributing to the music videos.
So she'll say something like, you know, I do my eyeliner wonky,

(45:46):
I'm just kind of making this up.
But then it'll have video clips of herfans like putting their eyeliner on wonky.
Like she, I don't know how she, whetherit's, you know, which way around it is,
whether she tells the fans, I need thismany clips of people doing this, I need
this many clips of people doing that.
Or if it's like, I'm making asong about this, this is the vibe.
Send me some funny clips.
But I think it's really heartwarming.
Like she clearly has such a community.

(46:08):
Yeah.
The rallying cry of her beingthe number one female YouTuber,
please help me achieve my dream.
Clearly worked.
Um, and she had thecommunity to support back.
And you wanna make
any comments about thecommunity, the fan demographics?
Um, they're young.
Mm-hmm.
Would you like to say somethingthat's, I feel, it seems like you're
pushing me.
I would say sensitively.

(46:30):
Oh my God.
It seems that Venetian and Princesscultivates a sort of, um, a teen
audience and she agrees with this.
She's like, yeah, my audience areprimarily teens and I would say
they're mostly young women and menwho, without knowing their, their
alphabet, I would say young gay men.
The, yeah.

(46:50):
Quo.
And, you know, yeah.
I'm sure you know, that's not exclusive.
Maybe those people are more inclinedto send videos of themselves in, but
like that is sort of it that it gives, that, it gives very different to
Fred, which we just saw with his fans.
Mm, yes.
Like
these fans skew older.
They skew, uh, female, like olderteenagers as opposed to young children.

(47:11):
Yeah.
Uh, and.
Yeah.
Like, you know, there, there weren'tguys with hot girls on their, on
their bedroom walls in these videos.
It was giving boys doing little dances.
Uh, there are lots of boys.
Yeah.
Honestly slay.
But I was like, but to me that's so cool.
'cause it's like if you are like ayoung gay man, you're gonna stand Lady

(47:32):
Gaga, like Selena Gomez, lady Gaga,
lady Gaga parody.
Yeah.
Lady Gaga, Selena
Gomez, Venetian Princess.
Yeah.
I think being a Venetian princess Stan, like that would actually be an incredible
time to be alive and it would be very fun.
Uh, and she's very interactive withher fans, so it's a rewarding K
is in this video.
'cause we were like, is theregonna be like a YouTube community?

(47:54):
Because, uh
Oh, in the 100,000subscribers celebration.
Yeah, exactly.
It's
a mix of her subscribersand other famous YouTubers.
And it's so nice 'cause it'slike mixed up between the two.
Well, famous, we don't, we didn'tknow, we didn't recognize many.
We didn't know.
But
like the notableYouTubers of the time Yes.
Who we weren't familiar with.
I was expecting to see a few YouTubers.
'cause I was like, really?
Why not these people?
But don't worry because they come later.

(48:16):
Um, I, I was worried that we weregonna have an episode without, um,
cameos, but that's not the case.
Um, but it's cute 'cause she likedoes a mix between, you know, people
congratulating her who are like, you know, random subscribers of her along with other
YouTubers and it's, it's very wholesome.
You can tell she is very gratefulfor her success and for the

(48:37):
ability to make YouTube her job.
She was one of the earliest YouTubersto be invited to the partner program
where like, YouTube called her onthe phone and we're like, Hey Diva.
You wanna make some money on YouTube?
Um, yeah.
She says she, like, theycalled me about a beta program.
Yeah.
And that's you actually the videowhere she calls out future of
YouTube.
Yeah.
It's so cool.
Um, so yeah, I think her, her communityis very, very cute and they seem

(48:58):
very involved and very wholesome.
So let us know if you were a,uh, Venetian Princess fan in the
comments on the, on the YouTube bitor on the other podcast platforms.
I don't know.
Um, she does at thispoint an original song.
It's called, uh, the JonasBrothers Addict Anthem.
And it, as the title suggests, it'sabout standing the Jonas Brothers.

(49:21):
Yep.
Which pretty savvy.
Lots of,
lots of submissions from her fans that, that we just talked about with them all
being like, we love you Kevin Jonas.
I mean like doing the Mileyv Selena and then also doing
a Jonas Brothers stand video.
She's really laser targeting.
Uh, a subset of children's entertainment.

(49:42):
Can you
Google stands?
Yeah.
Can you for me, since you have the, what's the name of the guy, Jamie?
Pull that up.
Jamie.
Pull that up.
Jamie, can you pull up when theJonas Brothers released Burn it Up.
Burn it up.
Burn.
Burn it up.
Burn it up.
Yeah,
they the album.
Yeah,
because I'm not gonna target anyonehere and this is so not relevant, but
my younger brother did buy a JonasBrothers album, I think in 2000.

(50:07):
There's a song in 2008.
Yep.
When's the album?
Can you show me?
Like Jonas Brothers album releases?
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
What's the album you're thinking
of?
I don't, I don't know.
A little bit longer.
Yeah.
2008.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Just, I just thought I wouldmention that my brother bought
a Jonas Brothers album in 2008.
That's crazy.
'cause he's a zoomer.
I've never bought an album in physical.

(50:29):
I remember he bought the album,we went to the CD store and he was
like, I'm gonna buy this album.
And I was like, why?
We don't like the JonasBrothers probably had some bops.
Um,
yeah, I think it did.
So, yeah.
Jonas Brothers Anthem.
This video, this is actually probablyone of our, our preferred parody songs.
Well, it's Tinseltown Nanny
Oh, banger.
Yeah.

(50:49):
Which is a parody of, uh, the MaryPoppins song, uh, A Teaspoon of Sugar.
Yeah.
Um, and it's, except she changes thepremise to, she's like a Nanny for
the Stars in la Mm. And so it leadsher to do a lot of references to like,
pop culture scandals at the time.

(51:10):
Yeah.
Um, a lot of stuff about TomCruise and Kay Holmes's marriage.
Yeah.
Branch.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Very funny.
Very 2008, like gossip tabloid stuff.
Yeah.
And it like switches.
She does a beat switchand she starts rapping.
Like, it's, it's pretty cool.
And I think as we know, she is a fan of.
Celebrity news and sortof Hollywood gossip.
Mm-hmm.
So it sort of matches two of herinterests quite well together.

(51:31):
Yeah.
Has
some of the early style editing, which is like really involved editing.
She also does the full, like JulieAndrews, like full costume makeup.
Get up.
It's pretty cool.
Um,
I just wanted to shout, therewas an update I think on the
description and it just says
this video was made over a yearbefore Michael Jackson's death.

(51:52):
No disrespect was intended.
May he rest in peace.
And his legend live on forever.
Vp.
He, he, yeah.
R-O-P-R-O-P to our favorite man Of who?
Who?
Men.
Who's men who would sleep withchildren in his bed with completely
find, with alert co repute and alarms.
Yeah.
Definitely not.

(52:12):
Anyway, anyway, we're not,
that's, we are not doing theMichael Jackson rewind time.
That's not what this podcast is.
Um, we're not, we're notlitigating that on the pod.
But Yeah.
Is pretty funny to be like.
Guys don't be mean.
It's like why not?
Um, anyway, so
there's something else we liked inthis, uh, era is, and it's very funny
'cause it's just called Tim Burtoninspired Frightening Fairytale.

(52:35):
Um, and this is like a,
so this is in between, she'sdoing a lot of like music, video
parodies, a lot of celebrity videos.
We're doing, like Britney parodies we'redoing Selena, uh, Miley Cyrus, sorry,
Gotman Gotman, Disney Star confused doingMiley Cyrus parodies, blah blah blah.
But then she's just like, you know what?
Fuck it.
Green screen again.
Yeah.

(52:55):
And we get this like full Tim Burton,we're doing like Victorian era costumes.
Lily Rose DNOs, FRA uh, sleeperHollow, eat Your Heart Out.
Um, insanely Blue and Gray Color Grading.
Yeah, it's cool.
It's original work.
It's not my favorite of her likeoriginal videos, but it's still cool.
And like I just, I have to respectthe creativity in the skill it make.

(53:17):
Yeah.
Takes to make these videos.
Has like the skeletons you like.
In the background.
Yeah.
You saw there were all these like,um, little animated skeletons and
you were like, babe, skeleton army.
I was like, yeah, you're learning.
Um, I do, I do love skeleton humor.
Um, as you mentioned, there wasa womanizer parody around this

(53:38):
time, which got 45 million views.
Mm-hmm.
Um, and we, I mean, we watchedit, but I, once again, I don't
think we particularly enjoy it.
The humor
is not for us.
But I will say once again, theglam on this video is so crazy.
Venet and Princess, you serveyour face card never declines.

(53:59):
You are like so beautiful.
I'm just addressing this toher as if she will watch it.
But Venetian princess, you are so beautiful.
Um.
And she looks amazing.
And she does the like perfectBritney Spears in a corner.
Frosty like metallic highlight.
Yeah.
I literally was like, that iswhat Britney Spears looks like.
So she fully does like goodtransformation, like celebrity makeup.

(54:20):
It's so impressive.
I can't stress enough.
I'm like looking at you because I feellike you don't, you don't understand.
It's so tricky.
Well, yeah, I'll,
I like, I'll take your word for it.
You know,
it's the seven things that womendo that men don't, you know,
classic
Britney, Britney makeup.
I think
like we can basically copy pastethose observations to the poker
face parody, which is outer space.

(54:41):
Also similar, did huge views.
This is the most huge
video on her channel.
Yeah.
And, okay.
No, I just, I thinkit, I did write, I just
wrote, did she use the MichelleThn poker face makeup tutorial?
Was this the one where I got moreannoyed because she still wasn't.
Doing the same melody.

(55:01):
Oh yeah, that's right.
It was, 'cause you know how likephotographers is like, oh wow.
Oh, oh wow.
Oh right.
She's like, oh wow, wow, wow, wow.
And I'm like, just do it.
Just do the same one.
You're not gonna get copyright claimed.
I don't think it's copyright.
I think she's just flexing.
Oh.
But like she's riffing.
She's like a jazz artist.

(55:21):
You know?
It's like, it's
fine.
I think maybe it's this oneI could, I apologize if I'm
talking about the wrong one.
We listen to a lot of song parodies.
Okay.
But I just, and yeah, the memeis just Lady Gaga's an alien.
Well, I mean like everyone atthe time is like Lady Gaga's,
like she's a hermaphrodite.
Like she's so twisted.
But this is like, no, she's actuallycrazy 'cause she's an alien.

(55:41):
You know, lady Gaga had like the most slayresponse to those interviews where like
serious journalists would be like, there'sa rumor that you're a hermaphrodite.
And she was like, okay,
what was the response?
No, she would literally just be like, and.
Oh, she didn't disprove it
well because they were like, no,like do you wanna like clear it up?
And she's like, why would it matter?

(56:02):
Yeah,
she
slay.
I love you Lady Gaga.
You are so slay.
Like actually Ally very slay.
She said, what would it matter?
Why does it matter?
Um, we take a breakfrom parody briefly for,
sorry.
Do we have nothing else to say abouther most viewed video on her channel?
Like,
I'm sorry guys, feel freeto watch it yourselves.

(56:23):
Maybe we missed
the makeup.
You know,
the fashion, all of that stuff about itis really cool and really high effort.
And the editing, the quality of thejoke and the parody is not there.
Again, we do apologize to VenetianPrincess 'cause you are coming directly
after the Lonely Island episode.
I think from a week ago.
I think
broadly, none of the, sorry.

(56:44):
None of the parody songs leftany impression on me at all.
I literally just hademptied when I was watching.
And that's
not to say that she isn't talented.
And she doesn't make good contentbecause we love her original work, but
the parody stuff is just not for us.
Yeah.
We'll wrap it up in the Legacy, but I wanna talk about this, which
I did remember Transformers twoparody, revenge of the Twitter icons.

(57:07):
This one's really,
so I, we really struggledwith like, I couldn't even,
okay, I'll give you context.
So, so Transformers two, Sam, Witwicky, shy, Leba, Meghan, Fox, you know,
the, the robots Save the World.
Uh, the parody, this is like a parody and,uh, VP is playing the Meghan Fox role.

(57:29):
She looks so good once again.
Exactly.
Yeah.
She's doing job.
Big Meghan Fox impression.
She looks so good.
She even does like the face.
Yeah.
For our video viewers.
She's doing the like, like the,the like sexy, confused face.
She does it really well.
Yeah.
So, yeah.
Uh,
but people in this video are beingattacked by, I think the Twitter bird,
but also like other sort of like.

(57:51):
Icons, they're callingthem like an elephant.
The
Twitter cons, which I think is meantto be a joke on like decept cons.
Yeah,
right.
But I'm not familiar with likeany of the icons in the video.
She pulls up one
that's like a full, like a square imagewith like multiple, it's like a picture.
I remember
One's an elephant.
Yeah.
And I'm like, what is, and I
tried to Google Twitter icons.

(58:11):
Yeah.
We would, nothing.
We researched.
I was like, go into the commentsand no one was saying anything.
Excuse me.
Uh, and I was like,
I was trying to find what thisvideo meant and I was unsuccessful.
But
yeah.
And to clarify, you were onTwitter at this time, right?
Or Yeah.
Well, maybe not early.
You were an early Twitter user.
I've, I've used Twitter for quite a while.

(58:32):
Wow.
Um, so, but no, I had no ideawhat it was talking about.
Anyway, we don't know what the joke.
Exactly was, but it wasstill funny because, yeah.
Well there's a very importantcameo in this video.
Oh, where Shane Dawson appears.
Yeah, that's right.
I immediately saw it and Isaid, is that Shane Dawson?
And in one second I recognized him, whichis maybe concerning for me, but it's more

(58:55):
'cause I just emerge historian of YouTube.
But I was like, that's Shane Dawson.
And they show the creditbeing like, Shane Dawson.
And I was like, yep.
I knew he would be on this channel.
I just had a sense, I was like, there's no way that Shane Dawson
didn't like this woman doing likeKaty Perry music video parodies.
There's like, no way.

(59:16):
And I was right.
So Shane Dawson, I feel like we shouldhave a bingo, we should have a rewind time
Bingo sheet where it's like Shane Dawson.
Um, there is something funnyin the description here where
uh, at some point VP starts.
Uh, I think as an SEO tactic, you'd be able to speak to this.
She starts putting, uh, like longtail keywords in the description,

(59:40):
just in quotation marks.
Uh, so below like the, this isthe video X about y you just
get, where is Megan Fox from?
Fox Picks Meghan Fox picksphotos of Meghan Fox, Meghan Fox
images, transformers, Meghan,Fox, uh, and so on and so on.

(01:00:01):
I saw this and I audibly laughed.
So for anyone who doesn't know, this isa little, a little behind, uh, what is it
Inside baseball from a YouTube uploader.
So on YouTube, when you upload a video, you have a section where you can put in
keywords, and this is like on the backend.
And so you put in keywords.
Typically it's like SEO stuff.

(01:00:22):
They say it doesn't really like matterthat much, but I do it like it's
important and it's part of, you know, all the different things, including
the title of the description, whatever.
But like, this doesn't appear on thevideo listing, but you can, by the
way, if you ever want to see whatkeywords a YouTubers put, you can, uh,
right click inspect control F keywordsand you can see what they've listed.
But it would typically be like, so for me,if I'm making a video about a particular

(01:00:44):
fashion brand, let's say I'm making a, avideo about whatever fashion brand A, then
my keyword would be like fashion brand.
A fashion brand, a reviews, fashionbrand, a try on dah, dah, dah, dah.
Right?
You guys understand how SEO works.
So it's extremely funny that she's putthem just in the description because
that's the kind of thing where you'dlike pictures of Megan Fox, like, you

(01:01:04):
know, and sometimes you do use keywordswhere you're trying to get your video to
be like aligned with like maybe anotherYouTuber, like, or if another YouTube
is made a video and you are doing like asimilar type of video that, and it's done
well, or like, you know, you're doing adifferent take on a trend or whatever you
might be using like that YouTuber's name.
But it's very funny to just includethem in your description and
being like, Meghan Fox Pictures.

(01:01:25):
'cause it's like, you're notMeghan Fox, but it's really funny.
. Um, after this we have another prominent YouTuber.
And this is more than a cameo.
He's like the, the loveinterest in the video.
Mm-hmm.
Uh, it's the, you Belong with Me Parody.
It's called Just a Zombie.
Uh, and it's the premise where, you know, VP is a, is a monster

(01:01:45):
and she lusts after Ryan Heger, our like teenage boy love interest.
Yeah.
Uh, and you know.
True to the song You belong with me.
She's like, oh, well you can't be withme 'cause you know, I I'm a monster.
I'm hideous.
You don't see me.
Yeah.
Because I'm a freak.
And this got 50 mil views.
So this one
was good.
You liked it.
Okay,
cool.
We, we, I think you also, this isa better, this is one of the better

(01:02:09):
music video parodies in my opinion.
In my humble expert opinion.
Because it's like working withthe actual concept of the song.
Like for example, poker face isnot about space or being an alien.
The joke is just that LadyGaga is kind of weird.
Right.
But you belong with me is about likethe yearning for love and being a

(01:02:31):
high schooler and being in love.
Yeah.
And this video is still about that, but it's just like, what if I was
a zombie and they can't be with me?
'cause I have these like insane teeth.
The SFX video on this video is also crazy.
Yeah, it's
really cool.
It's really impressive.
Um, kind of scary.
She's got like big, bigspooky zombie teeth.
Um,
well this video endswith a huge jump scare.
Oh yeah, it does.

(01:02:52):
Yeah.
It like comes back with uh, amonster baby and you're like, wow.
I guess the love interest, I guessthose crazy kids made it work, but
they, they present, like the way theydo it is a really big jump scare,
which, uh, I think is maybe a first
to clarify the video is her asTaylor Swift with Zombie Teeth.
Yeah.
Ryan Hager as her love interest.

(01:03:13):
They're like back and forth andtrying to make the relationship
work and she's like, he'll never bewith me 'cause I have, I'm a zombie.
And then she goes and there's likea little graphic where she goes
to the dentist and so she getsnormal teeth and then she goes to,
it's like people eaters anonymous.
Mm.
And she's like becoming reformed.
I'm like, that's a funny gag.
It's like being like, I'm gonnado what I need to do to be with
this person with the Taylor Swift.

(01:03:33):
And also at this point, I think we'renow just doing the instrumental of the
actual song with the lyric changes.
We're not doing like melodicinterpretations of what You
belong to me sounds like it justsounds like you belong with me.
Which makes it, um,funny 'cause we're not.
Being like, why does it notsound like the song at all?
Um, so a good bit exceptfor the job scare.

(01:03:54):
I did scream 'cause I'm quite jobs scaresensitive, but good video liked this one.
This one's solid and RyanHegar, the YouTube prints.
We have a first with a channel,uh, as far as we can tell, which
is a fully sponsored video.
Oh
yes.
And this is I think probably the, oneof the best sponsored videos we've seen.

(01:04:16):
It's called How to Get YourPoptarts Toaster Pastry at Night.
Uh, and it's like a black and whitefifties noir style like Hitchcock.
It's
so slave like, uh, little like shortfilm with VP as like a, both, all

(01:04:36):
the characters as you know, you'dexpect, but she's like a fem fatal.
She's like the, the UE detective.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Uh, and.
Like the, basically the gist is that,uh, her dog with a mustache, like
an evil villain, has tied a bunch ofPop-Tarts in front of a runaway train
and like she has to save the Pop-Tarts.
And it's like, uh, once again, like somuch effort went into producing this,

(01:05:01):
it's so silly and youjust have to respect it.
It's a bit of a returnto original form here.
Yeah.
And
it is made all the funnier becauseit's like a Pop-Tart sponsorship.
Yeah.
Um, and she has to say the fullphrase where she's like, okay guys,
well I hope you like this videoand leave a video response or a
comment below letting me know howyou get your Pop-Tart fixed at night.

(01:05:22):
And it's like poptarts with like the,the r symbol, like the TM or whatever.
It's so funny.
Um, I would've loved to seeVenetian princesses take on the
Carl Jr. Portobello Mushroom Burger.
I know a last, she's not included.
She did another PoptartsSpawn video the next year.
It was a collab with Dave Dayswho we like didn't know, don't

(01:05:42):
know, but he was at that point.
The most subscribed musician on YouTube.
Wow.
So maybe a future episode subject.
Miley Cyrus.
Yeah.
Oh, rip Miley Cyrus.
Ripped
Miley.
Um, okay.
That is the end of 2008.
Oh my gosh.
So I've been going for like an hourand we're only at the end of 2008.
Yeah.
I would suggest, unless there arespecific parodies you wanna call out.

(01:06:06):
'cause guys spoilers, we getfour more years of parodies.
Uh, we'll, four more years.
We'll not be going in depth onthose, but when's I will call out
in the sponsored land, uh, Marvin'sWish, which is a 2009 video.
Oh, that Venetian princess directedfor a careers guidance company.

(01:06:28):
This video
is so out of pocket.
It's so, and
it's not in her style of really at all.
Uh, and it's just a man basically.
Uh, going on the computer to use acareers guidance website and learning.
He should like be a social workerand doing that and he's happy.
But it's, think of like the lowest, likelocal TV ad for something like completely.

(01:06:52):
It's like, I mean, yeah, like there'slike a slight green screen element to it.
There's like a bit of editing, butit's pretty, like, it's not, it's
giving cashing the check, which haveto, but the check was not large at all.
'cause this company did not seem likeit had a lot of money for marketing.
You know what?
No.
Maybe the cash, maybe thecheck was large enough.

(01:07:13):
I, I am very pro creators gettingtheir money because I think people
often think that creators make a lotof money when sometimes they do not.
Um, I think, yeah, it, it can reallydepend from creator to creator
and the kind of content they make.
And also depending on thecreator, like some creators
you get offered a check like.

(01:07:34):
Every, every day you're getting offersfor money and you have plenty of
options to pick from, and sometimesyou don't and you are just, you know,
and it feels probably, you know, likethis is the only sponsorship I've
been offered in like six months, so
I gotta pay rent.
I gotta pay rent.
And you know what?
So valid.
Um, I don't know if that isnecessarily the case here or if she

(01:07:55):
just genuinely wanted to becauseit's like, it's actually like a cute,
like it's, it's a, it's a recruitmentor like a, a, a career guidance.
No, come on.
If we, I know it would be
laughable if you saw this ad.
I, I, I just, they she,she wrote a song for it.
Yeah.
She like, writes a song
and she posted on her mainYouTube channel, which I
don't know if that waspart of the deal or not.
I have to assume it was.

(01:08:16):
Yeah.
Um, because it's so unrelated tolike, it's, so you would, if you,
this came up in your subscriptionbox, you'd be like, what is this?
Like genuinely what is going on?
Because it's not a Venetian princess.
Like it doesn't have the Venetianprincess, DNA in that like.
It's a parody or it's funny orit's got like her weird editing.
It's, it's like Venetia and Princessapproved for corporate dm. Yeah.

(01:08:39):
Um, but you know, sure.
It, it's funny, I enjoyed itbecause it was funny that it exists.
Mm-hmm.
And it, I hope that she got paid.
We have a stealth sequel to our a JonasBrothers addict anthem in that she made a
I am Gleek, which is a parody of firework.

(01:09:00):
Yeah.
How does the chorus, it'sSubT Glee fan's Anthem.
How does the chorus go?
It's like this
baby, you know, I am a gleek.
I think, I think it's something like that.
Yeah, I
think that's fair.
Sure is.
But uh, this is like, uh,same as the Jonas Brothers.
She's using fan submissions to belike the backing video for the song.

(01:09:22):
Uh, and I. Uh, this is not,you know, this is supporting my
thesis as to who her fans are.
Uh, 'cause it seems to be one-on-onewith who are fans of Glee?
The show.
You need to tread carefully.
King.
I liked maybe half a season of Glee.
That first half season ofSeason one is pretty good.

(01:09:44):
Yeah.
It's five
and a half seasons ofPretty Bad show after that.
See,
weather you lives on, there's lotsof culturally has a, a remarkable
like, lasting cultural impact.
I know.
Especially when there wasonly like Matthew Morrison.
There's like half agood season of TV there.
I
think about the, like theBusta move like all the time.
Yeah.
Or the, like, the, basicallyany Matthew Morrison moment

(01:10:06):
from Glee I think about a lot.
Good shit.
Good shit.
Um, but I did, I actually did think thiscould potentially be sponsored by Fox
or like, I was like, yeah, good call.
Could this be sponsored?
I don't think it was.
Uh, there are some videos here which likeyou can tell are sponsored, but, but they
don't like the, the second Poptarts video.
I'm like, this was definitely sponsored, but this was like pre YouTube,

(01:10:29):
like them having, you know, FTC
Yep.
Regulations so they like, don'tdisclose things properly, which we've
seen with other channels as well.
That's like not, you know,a dig out Venetian princess.
Like none of the YouTubers, they had no guidelines.
So brands would just be like, you have to post it and just
be like, I love Pop-Tarts.
Say no, say no more than that.
You know, even though it'slike clearly sponsored.

(01:10:50):
Um, so I thought this could bethe case with this one and maybe
it's, but I don't think so.
I think she just was like, glia reallypopular and this would be a good YouTube.
I agree.
I think it was that
she also probably is a fan of Glee, like she is a, someone with a musical
background and it's a musical TV show.
Great.
Good.
Um, so there's that one.
Are there any otherones that are Um, yeah.
So yes, this series, uh, this first oneis it's just official video, silent Night.

(01:11:16):
Which is so funny 'cause it'slike, girl, you didn't write,
silent Night is not your song.
Like you don't, there's no official video.
Jesus, Mary
and Joseph just, uh,
official video.
Jesus' birth in Nazareth.
Uh, sorry.
Bethlehem.
Uh, but yeah, so official
video, the Lord's Prayer.
Yeah, basically.
Uh, so what she does is, uh, forthe next few years you will get her

(01:11:38):
not parody completely, sincerelydoing covers of Christmas songs
and like some other songs.
We do get some other ones, I think.
Yeah.
Like
she will do some, she'lldo like an Adele covers.
Yeah.
She'll do.
Oh,
she does do an Adele.
What, what's that reaction anyway?
Um.
This, this rocks.
She's completely glammed.
She's looking so good.
She's obviously a beautiful singer.

(01:11:59):
Um, classically trained.
We
should wrap up, I think,Christmas chat in this segment.
Mm-hmm.
Because, uh, later on she will have herhouse and you see her house in the video
profiled for a magazine like a, it's like
romantic homes or something.
Yeah, like an interior decorating design.
Yeah.
Like
household via a triad wife.
Mm-hmm.
You know, type of type of breed.

(01:12:21):
No,
you don't have to be a triadwife to like interior decoration.
Don't be mean.
Ah, don't be mean.
Her house is
like so beautiful.
She has like a century home.
I
have such insane envy of this woman'shome and she does the most insanely
stunning Christmas decorating.
Like, actually I'm pretty sure I've seensome of those pictures on Pinterest,

(01:12:41):
like the Christmas tree decor.
Stunning.
And also she talks about this in likeeither an earlier, later video, but at
some point we watch a video where shetalks about her favorite Halloween movies.
This is related to the Christmas stuffbecause she talks about how she loves
the movie Practical Magic, starringSandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman.
I have seen that moviequite recently actually.
Rocks such a great movie.

(01:13:02):
But that house in that moviewhere it's like set is the most
beautiful, like, yeah, historic Home.
So stunning.
And they have this kitchen and I'mlike, I would live in that kitchen.
It's so good.
Um, and so she describes that, likethose, um, like that set dressing
for that movie and other, you know, movies like it are her inspiration

(01:13:26):
for her home and you can so see it.
She, and again, it's like thetalents of this woman don't stop
makeup, editing, singing, and nowinterior design and interior decor.
Her house looks stunning.
I could never, I could never do that.
I have, I do not have the gene.
Um, and it's so beautiful.
Sorry, I feel like I'm standing too hard.

(01:13:47):
I just, I'm in awe of this woman's talentsand the way she's so casual about it.
Like, oh yeah, this is my home.
And I'm like, what do youmean you did this yourself?
She's like, yeah.
You know, and I'm like, you're ina magazine for interior design.
So crazy.
Your thoughts on the home?
Oh, I just, it would becool to be rich, you know?
Cool.
To be an early YouTuber, um, andhave the, have that early success.

(01:14:10):
Yeah.
But anyway,
um, so House
Envy
there are for the rest of2010 more parody stuff.
Mm.
She starts a vlog channel.
Yeah.
Um,
which is not somethingshe really gets too into.
We know what uploads
Yeah.
We don't, in some of our episodes, we kindof cover the vlog channel as part of the,
the content we watch for the main channel, but there's not really, she doesn't

(01:14:33):
upload that much on, it's not popular, and she starts uploading some of the
vlog content to her main channel later.
Anyway, so we ended upwatching some of it anyway.
It's, there's not, it's not a prolific.
Uploading vlog channel.
Yeah.
Yeah.
By um, 2011 though, some of,like you mentioned, the vlog
stuff is on the main channel.
Mm-hmm.
Um, and there is, she's like,oh, I've taken some time off.

(01:14:54):
I had to have gallbladder surgery.
Mm-hmm.
Um, and she is saying, oh, like I knowthat some of you guys are not seeing my
videos in your subscription box, which issomething that, from what I understand,
every YouTuber complains about, okay,
we, you don't believethat this is a thing.
And I think it's so rude of you becauseI know it's, this was like an epidemic on

(01:15:19):
YouTube and there is a particular YouTube,I dunno if we'll cover them at some point,
but there was a particular YouTuber who.
Had this like instance where their channelwas like going really well and then
something like happened overnight and itwas like their videos went from getting
every video getting like a million viewsto all of 'em getting like a hundred.
And they contacted YouTube.
Um, for anyone listening, I believethis is Swoop or like Spanky
Valentine, it was her original channel.

(01:15:41):
Um, Maxwell, not know who that is.
That's fine.
But they like got in contact withYouTube and talked to a YouTube
representative and they're like, yes.
Like something happened, like we canconfirm there was a glitch where something
happened where your channel basicallygot like shadow banned in the algorithm.
So you being like, it's not truethat these people's videos don't
appear in people's sub boxeslike it is because I didn't

(01:16:03):
say it wasn't true.
No, but you don't believe it.
You are thinking that they're blaming.
'cause it's like a two.
You are literally sitting here smiling.
I'm gonna,
guys, I just think that
you think it's cope.
The most
simple explanation for whyyour video isn't getting views
is that it isn't very good.
Okay.
It's a two-prong issue, right?
And she does talk about this muchlater, or like, not much later,

(01:16:26):
but like in one of the last fewvideos that we will talk about.
But there is a combination effect, right?
YouTube is changing, the platformis getting more saturated.
All of that's happening.
But equally, if your subscribers who haveyou in your subscription box, and this
is back when subscriptions were like moreimportant now YouTube kind of has a bit

(01:16:46):
more of like a TikTok style algorithmwhere most people stay on the, like the
homepage or the like recommended page.
Rather than going to the subscriptionbox, I still go to my subscription box
and I'm sure a lot of people do as well.
If you're a prolific YouTube,uh, viewer and user, you do it.
But like the homepage is pretty goodat serving you like a nice mix of
things that you might be interested in.
But previously the homepage usedto be like random kind of stuff.

(01:17:07):
And then the subscription box is likeall the stuff that you subscribe to.
So then people are being like,I am subscribed to you and I
your video is not in there.
You are saying that that's nottrue and that was like a big thing.
It was happening.
I can't, yeah.
I
just don't see why YouTubewould not want their videos.
Well, because just
doesn't seem to be in their interest.
There are
many.
No, of course there's many differenttheories about why, but there was, and

(01:17:31):
I think there has historically been, andplease correct me if I'm wrong, anyone,
but there was like a historical thingwhere like a lot of YouTubers were like,
my stuff is not showing up in a proportionof my subscribers subscription boxes.
And people would like, and youcould be able to verify that.
Like people could send them asubscription being like, these are
all the videos that came out this day.
Yeah.
If
I see someone put the evidence togetherlike that, I'll change my tune.
Okay.
But I, I think that this was somethingthat was, you know, happening to Venetian

(01:17:55):
Princess and other YouTubes at the time.
And I do think it was, I, I, and Idon't, I don't know how widespread it is.
I don't dunno how much percentage ofher audience, and I think she even
herself acknowledges that like, it'snot only that we should clarify,
we, she was not getting as manyviews as she used to on her channel.
She was not uploading as frequently.
And any video that wasn't a parodymusic video was not getting the numbers.

(01:18:18):
It would be like the parody music videoswould get a million views minimum.
And then the other videos wouldget like a couple hundred thousand.
So a very, a pretty starkdifference in view count.
Um, so yes, I do think it was a mix.
It can be a mix.
No,
that's so diplomatic of us.
Uh, wow.
Continuing on.

(01:18:39):
So there are some more parody songs.
There is one original I want toshout, which is, it's Halloween,
which was her 2011 Halloween song.
Oh, a banger.
Yeah.
This song
Rocks.
Do you wanna tell us about it?
It's Halloween.
Yeah.
I mean, yeah, it's Halloween.
How does it go?
She's just like, it's Halloween.

(01:19:00):
No, that's not, I thoughtyou said it rocked.
Yeah.
I can't remember it.
We listened to it onetime, but it's really good.
And she looks really good.
She's fully glam.
I do
think it is like a step upfrom where we were musically.
It's a banger with the parodies.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like it's, it's quite good.
I wrote down this line that stoodout to me where, uh, it's, it's fine
to be a Obama, just don't be a Samand she's talking about costumes.

(01:19:23):
Yeah.
I would argue you'd have to becareful with how you did your
costume for both of those people.
I agree.
Yeah.
But she didn't reallyget too into the details.
But it is funny to think about, um,now this, this is, uh, a parody with
a, uh, you know, some controversy.
Mm-hmm.
Uh, we found love parodyKardashian boycott Oh.

(01:19:47):
And vp and this becomes a running sort of,uh, you know, ideology I guess for her.
Mm-hmm.
Where she is very criticalof the Kardashian clan.
Mm-hmm.
For those of you that don't know theirKardashians are a family of LA based
influences, most notably Kim Kardashians.
Is this,
what do you do?

(01:20:08):
Uh, no.
No, no.
Um, I feel
like everyone has at least some.
Understanding.
Yeah, of course.
But yeah, this would've been likekeeping up with the Kardashians era.
Like Kim just getting married to Kanye.
No, she's
bullying her.
Sorry.
She's, she's criticizing Kimfor her divorce from Chris
Humphreys after I believe 72 days.
Yeah, obviously I remember thatbeing gossip at the time and having

(01:20:30):
a very like misogynistic bend to it.
Obviously getting divorcedafter 72 days is pretty unusual.
Um,
but it actually was 72 days.
Wow.
Guys.
A lot of useless informationbanging around up here.
So good.
But no, she's like beingKim in the video making.
She's got like a really large bar.
Making my butt is so big.
Yeah, she's like stuffed her.

(01:20:51):
But I feel
like there's so many, we'vecovered multiple channels already.
We're only 10 episodes in andwe've covered multiple channels.
Who do, like Kim Kardashianis a stupid bitch.
And I'm not saying that because I thinkthat, 'cause I don't think that, but
like that's literally like there, thejoke is like Kim Kardashian's like dumb.
Well, I mean she talks and there's acommentary bit at the end of this video.
She's quite serious about.
Well, there's a, a movementtowards boycotting the Kardashians.

(01:21:14):
That's
right.
She like bookends the video.
She does this, the view of parody video.
She like book, she like starts thevideo being like, Hey guys, you're
about to watch a parody videothat I made about blah blah blah.
And she does like an intro and then it,she does the one minute long parody,
she calls them pint-sized parodies.
'cause she says that she didn'twanna do like full length parities
'cause they're too much work.
She couldn't producethem on a regular thing.
So she only does like one minute long.

(01:21:34):
So it's like verse chorus, verse chorus, whatever.
Yeah.
Um, but then she does a conclusionout tour, like talking about the
video, which is very like old schoolYouTube style content instead of just
like doing the video as the video.
But yeah, at the end shefully talks about it.
Sorry, I interrupted you.
You were saying, she's like,
oh, I just think it's funny that theboycott of the Kardashians was such a.

(01:21:58):
Uh, just a, a, a take that wasso popular seemingly that it,
it, it comes up in this VP video.
I mean, people cared so much about it.
I just, I think it's funny of the waythat she's like, people are talking about
doing this and it's like, it's giving,um, it, people are talking about holding
space for lyrics and defying gravity.
Like, it's like people, andit's like, I didn't know.

(01:22:19):
I literally almost felt like watching thisVenetian princess, like Outra being like,
I didn't know if they were doing that.
I can imagine Kim though, ona, like a confessional just
being like, I survived boycotts.
Like, you
know.
Yeah.
Just people try to boycott meand, you know, I just think
that's, but clearly unsuccessful.

(01:22:40):
Chris being
like, they, they boycotted our family.
Like it didn't, anyway, itclearly didn't work though.
Obviously
unsuccessful in every way, butalso like what does that even, I.
What does it even materially mean?
Just like not watching theKardashians, that's just called
not watching the Kardashians.
It's not a
Yeah, actually, like, not to, notto say that I don't, 99% of the
world are successfully boycottingthe Kardashians at that point.

(01:23:01):
'cause they're not watching.
Uh, Bravo.
Is it Bravo that did or isit e It's I think EEI think.
Yeah.
But yeah, I, I am, yeah.
I'm not to say typically not to saythat like, I don't think, you know,
consumer boycotts can like work likethey totally can, but this just seems
like it, it's like, yeah, it's likeme, when I boycott, I should just start

(01:23:22):
saying, when I don't watch something, Ishould just be like, I'm boycotting it.
I'm like, oh, I'm actually boycottingyellow Jacket season three.
It's like, no, I'm just notwatching it this season.
Um, a sponsored campaign, much likethe Boycott Kardashian movement
that I just wanted to address,'cause VP did a video on it.
Um, it was the, oh, this one?
The Sleep Naked campaign.

(01:23:43):
Uh, the video video justcalled me without makeup.
Me without makeup.
Yep.
Uh, and the whole campaign is like.
Uh, that's what whispers women, girls, youshould not be wearing your makeup to bed.
That's it.
That's, that's the PSI
And we should be, we should.
It's the sleep Naked campaign.
Yeah, we should be our tru.
So Swisspers is sponsoring her, likeSwisspers make cotton pads and like

(01:24:05):
cotton buds and they're telling you toremove your makeup before you go to bed.
'cause it's good for your skin.
I just thought this was verylike of the time because saying
that now, I'm kind of like, what?
Yeah.
Okay.
Yes.
I
mean, clearly a lot of people don't do it.
Didn't remember.
Well, she kind of says it like, yeah, I never used to do it.
And then now I'm like, I should do that.

(01:24:26):
And I'm like, you haven't beendoing that Queen looking good.
So good.
Uh, no, it's just funny.
Um, also the entire thing is like.
And I wanna be brave and be authenticallymyself on the internet and like,
you know, show you that you don'tneed to wear makeup to be beautiful.
So I, you know, and I know lots of peopleask me, Venetian Princess, you know,
what I look like without makeup on.
Because obviously as we know, face card never declines.

(01:24:47):
She does incredible glam and all ofher videos, she always looks so slay.
Her makeup is gorgeous.
And so she's like, peoplewanna know when I look without
makeup, so I'm gonna show you.
But she doesn't show in the video.
She's like, you have to click the linkbelow and you have to like vote like,
like the photo on Facebook or whatever.
I just think it's really funny.
She, she's always, because the videois sketcher, I'm gonna be my real self.

(01:25:08):
But in this video she'salso just fully in glam.
Oh yeah, of course.
Which is incredibly sleigh.
Um, but yeah, I don't think, Idunno if she won the competition
or not, but I thought this is fun.
I actually love camp sponsored content.
Have you ever seen thatvideo of, um, Shay Mitchell?
Is it Shay Mitchell?
No.
Doing the, the makeup removervideo where she's like not, oh,

(01:25:28):
I love advertising.
I just like the idea of like.
Being a toothpaste brand, and you pay vpand she's like, guys, we have a campaign.
Before you go to bed, youneed to brush your teeth.
Okay.
I mean, he's in
Colgate.
I just think it, it makes sense.
I, and again, get your bag queen.
Um, but yeah, but it's so funny.
It was, it's actually just that I canjust picture, and I can tell you this

(01:25:50):
because I have had these experienceswhere like, the brand comes to you
being like, this is specificallywhat we wanna do with this campaign.
And you'd be like, okay.
And they're like, but you can't, youneed to like, get people to click
through to Facebook and, or like, youknow, they're like, and for people
to enter this competition where theycan win like a thousand dollars, they
have to make a full YouTube video.
And you're like, that's sucha high barrier to entry.
I personally have run, uh, I, I workedwith a brand, I won't say which one, but I

(01:26:14):
worked with a brand where they were like,we want you to do like a giveaway as part
of our partnership to your followers.
And I was like, that's really nice.
Sure.
What is it?
Like what's, what's the, and theywere like, the details of the
giveaways that they have to likepost a full like Instagram picture,
like dedicated to our brand.
And like
on grid and
use and on grid and use like a hashtag.
Like a branded hashtag and like tella story, you know, in 50 words or,

(01:26:36):
and I was like, that is so much work.
And I did actually suggest to 'em, I waslike, can, can we just like get people
to comment like, my photo instead?
Or like, maybe that would be, and they'relike, no, no, no, they need to do this.
And I like, I got like three entriesand I was like, honestly or something.
And I was like, or maybe I got like oneor two entries and I was like, well,
they deserve it for, yeah.
I just, I need everyone to know thatif you ever saw me do that, I was

(01:26:58):
like, can I please do something else?
And they were like, no.
And I was like, okay, I don'tthink this is gonna work out.
'cause the idea was that theywanted to like generate content.
Yeah.
For the, uh, yeah.
And I'm like, just, just do it.
And I got to leave a feedback like formafterwards and I was like, don't do that.
Just let people leave a commentor like, you know, like comment,
share on your Instagram stories orsomething like that at the most,

(01:27:19):
anyway, sorry, that's my little.
Insight into influencer marketing, uh,vision Princess Slays the campaign.
She does good with clearly whateverthe intense brief she was given
at this point, it's 2013 andthe videos on the channel now.
Uh, uploads seem to be more sporadic.
Mm-hmm.
Obviously, maybe they were morethan they've been taken down,

(01:27:41):
but for the most part it lookslike it's a mix of re-up uploads
of her original content.
Yes.
Yeah.
Uh,
Tinseltown Nanny comes back
Exactly.
Brand Angelina please adopt me,which we didn't talk about because
she deleted the original version.
Yeah.
But she does
a video about wanting to be the, thenext, this one actually rocks, but
it's quite funny.
Yeah.
It's, and this is also fromlike 2008 or something.

(01:28:01):
It's like a really early, maybe in 2006.
It's an early Venetian princess.
Like it's
in, it's in four, three aspect ratio.
Yeah.
You can tell it's old.
So, um,
but it's, uh, about her wantingto be the next adoptee of the.
The Jolie Pitt family, um,which includes her like green
screening her as like into Africa.
And she like, that's prettycrazy, but like, yeah.

(01:28:24):
Good, good OG Venetian Princess content.
Yeah.
She reloads a video, whichis called Knighting Dax Flame
Tax Claim is a YouTuber.
But did, did you know about Dax Blame?
I've heard of Dax Flame.
Yeah, I don't idea, but I do gethim confused with Dax Shepherd.
'cause there's onlylike two men named Dax.
Uh, you know Dax kind of close to Max?

(01:28:45):
What's that?
What's that
about?
That's almost like alternative Max.
I never thought about that.
Everyone would be naming
their kids Max.
Not me.
Yeah, I'll
call my kid Dax.
I'm gonna call my kid Dax.
Um, and also Dax
exclamation point from Drag Race.
Dax Flame.
I think based on me Googlinghim being like, who's this man?
I think we will be doingan episode on Dax Flame.
Woohoo.
Because there's a lotabout him online, so, and

(01:29:06):
he's still active.
I'll take your word for it.
He's, I feel like he's come uprecently and where it's like return
of the OG YouTuber and I'm like, question mark, question mark.
Question mark.
Bit of a gap in my, mypersonal history VP does
draw my life.
Oh, we have ca we havecovered a lot of it though.
Yeah.
But stuff that is new, uh, very funny.
She was a child actor and mostnotably was in Hocus Pocus,

(01:29:30):
which you haven't seen.
No.
Yeah.
You have though.
Yeah.
You're a fan.
Good movie.
Fun movie.
Fun.
Spooky times.
She also talks about how she went toCatholic school in New England, so
the, the sort of Boston area mm-hmm.
For international listeners.
And she's like, I was in thislike big gothic, like, you

(01:29:52):
know, 200 plus year old school.
And I would walk around imaginingthat I was like in boarding school.
Like in Hogwarts or something.
Yeah, exactly.
So Hogwarts coded.
Yeah.
Um, and I think like thatinterest in like gothic.
Uh, like sort of Tim Burden esque stylingsis something you see a lot in her videos.
Yes.
Yeah.
You can tell she loves ahistorical architecture.

(01:30:15):
She, she, yeah.
Enjoys it.
But yeah, she also goes, she saysshe was bullied, which, you know,
that's all YouTubers, but why you
say this?
So like she says she was bullied, but no, every YouTuber, yeah.
They all, all of the onesso far have been bullied.
Yeah.
I invalid me, kind of.
Are you, are you also doingDraw my life right now?
I'm not gonna do, no, I'mnot, but like, but okay.

(01:30:38):
You wouldn't, surely you wouldn't sayyou were bullied as part of your draw?
My life,
my life story?
Yeah.
Probably.
Well, I mean, it depends.
I think, you know, some people, like, I feel like, okay, correct
me if I'm wrong, was like, noteveryone bullied like a little bit.
I was not bullied, no.
Oh,
okay.
Just me.
Then you said not me.
You say you stay safe though.

(01:30:59):
Uh, yeah.
No, but like, I, I mean you, I was bullieda bit, but like, not like what can you do?
You just.
Like, okay.
Yeah.
Why, why would you bully me?
I
think like bullying quite gendered.
It's quite different for boys and girls.
Yeah.
I did.
I mean, yeah, maybe all girls are bullied.
I wouldn't, I wouldn't know.
Well, but Ryan HEAs says he was bullied, but, but, but was with, it's very
much like, there's like a pack effect andkicked, but he was also bullied litter.

(01:31:21):
That
also didn't make it.
Whoa.
But I think it was more thathe was like, they were racist.
So there's that.
Well,
that's still bullying.
Yeah.
Obviously it's still bullying.
Yeah.
But like, it, it's different to justbeing like, you're a, you're a nerd.
It's just like children are racist.
Uh, what a crazy episode this is.
Uh, anyway.
No.
Yeah, I was like bullieda bit, but I just don't,

(01:31:42):
I don't know.
I, I
try not to like, I don't think, you know,if I'm doing my own Wikipedia page, I'm,
I'm not gonna be like, I'm just bullied.
Well, like, I was just, I dunno, I wasbullied the normal amount for probably
the normal amount of annoying I am.
I'm, I'm a bit odd,but I'm kind of normal.
I don't know.
I. This is not about me.
I was gonna say, this is
actually VP's episode, not Lucy.
Wow.
This is so rude.

(01:32:03):
But, so she meets actually her highschool boyfriend through a OL very Leigh.
And then when she made this video, she was still with said boyfriend.
Yes.
Some.
So they were together for like 11 years.
Oh my
God.
Not about us.
But
um, um, but then she basically, shetalks a bit about her early channel
and she's like, I really like doingspecial effects and the disclosed series.

(01:32:25):
And Princess Chronicles reallyallowed me to explore this.
And I got featured on the frontpage of YouTube at that time.
'cause it was manually sort of curated.
Yeah.
And I got like, so much like hate'cause people didn't like the videos,
but she, and as, as we've come toknow ironically, like all those hate
drove engagement on the channel.
And that's what saw herinitially surge in popularity.

(01:32:49):
And then she does go on to say thatshe liked doing those parrot, sorry,
she liked doing those creativevideos, but they took a long time.
And so once she started doingparody music, that was a lot
easier to create and yeah, alsoa lot more popular at that time.
Yeah, it, it was like a commercialwin-win for her to change.

(01:33:09):
Yeah.
Which I feel makes sense.
And again, as you've seen me saymultiple times throughout this
video, I'm like, get your bag.
Like, so get it.
I do think it is a bit sad ish that likeshe couldn't be more rewarded for like
that original style of content she made.
'cause I think it is some of her best.

(01:33:30):
Mm. And she's really talented at it.
Um, but fair enough.
I mean this is, again, it's similarto like the Niels Riga stuff.
Some of his like non pota Papa Pal stuffis really funny and really good, but
obviously it's just, it's more niche like
Yeah,
I think it's really cool.
But admittedly as shesays, like people would.
Look at it and be like, what is this?
Because admittedly what is goingon, if you get it out of context,

(01:33:52):
like you don't really know.
She talks about in a Q and A actuallyhow someone's like, and this is a
crazy question, so like comment vibes.
They're like, your videos used toget millions of views and now some of
them barely get a hundred thousand.
Oh yeah.
She
uploads a Q and a to be clear.
Yeah.
What's going
on?
And she's like, oh, theYouTube algorithm has changed.
And so when she was doing most of herparody videos, if you are watching,

(01:34:15):
for example, Katie Perry's Raw, the topsuggested video would be a parody of that.
'cause the YouTube algorithm islike, oh this is a similar video.
It's the, yeah.
So you'll see Thor, which is theVP parody of Raw and so, which is
about Thor.
Exactly.
And I think Thor is hot, which, sure.
So you would get so
many views.
'cause you are.

(01:34:36):
Basically piggybacking off these like, super successful international pop songs
with like hundreds of millions of views.
Mm-hmm.
Uh, but YouTube switched at somepoint to not promote stuff like that.
So it's most likely, it's likeKaty Perry's Raw is here, and
then Katy Perry's ET is here.
Yeah.
All the other vivo stuff is there, like other professional musicians,
which meant there was like a bigdrop off in parody music views.

(01:34:59):
Do you
believe that?
Yeah, of course.
Oh, so you believe some?
I mean,
I don't know.
I've been on YouTube and I, I don't seeparody songs anymore, so I, I don't Yeah,
they do.
They, I, and I have to wonder if, like, artists or Vivo or some, some of the
big cheeses on YouTube, like maybespoke to YouTube and were like, can you
Yes.
I I would not be, be surprised.

(01:35:20):
Yeah.
I wouldn't be surprised.
Like record companies or something.
Some, some big wigs maybe intervened.
Um, but yeah, but she says that, but shealso acknowledges that it's just like.
Her, she's like, I don't makejust music video parodies.
I don't want my entire channel.
I'm not gonna stop makingthem, but I don't want my
entire channel to just be that.
Which is a really good example of,I think what a lot of YouTubers do

(01:35:42):
end up doing and probably shoulddo, is, um, you know, she doesn't
wanna pigeonhole herself too much.
It's a really hard line to walk, as we'veseen with like, you know, Ryan Heger and
some other creators where they don't wantto, like, they wanna branch out creatively
or they want to make other content, orthey want their audience to like them for
other things other than like their onething that they're really well known for.

(01:36:03):
And so it's hard to straddle a linebetween continuing to make your, like
number one hit like your, your bangers, but also get people to, you know, get
to know your personality and stuff more.
So she, but I, but I think it's, you know, she's very matter of fact of just being
like, I don't wanna make them all the time'cause it's not the only thing I wanna do.
I wanna do other stuff.
Um, and I want people to like me for me.

(01:36:23):
And so I just wanted to, youknow, pull back from doing them.
Unfortunately, though.
And I'm not like saying that that wasthe wrong move or anything like that,
but unfortunately though, like this doeskind of directly impact her channel.
And you can see the view count does godown as she does more and more like new
formats of videos and less and less.
Yeah.
I want video par.
I wanna just quickly touch on shefor blogTO, uh, she does like a

(01:36:47):
series of, uh, commentary videos.
Yeah.
Uh, the first one just titled Kim KAss News, Bruce Jenner Cross Dressing.
Is this Floto Christian Gray?
Yeah, it's blogTO three.
She only does three.
This one was upload, I remember.
'cause we, she does two, like she does oneon October 1st and October 2nd doing vto.

(01:37:08):
For those of you who don't know if VTOis, um, like a YouTube trend, it's very
similar to, um, vlog mis, or this is
at episode three of VMIs, bro.
Sorry.
Vto.
Yeah, but so it's just where youupload every day for that month.
Like VMI is where you uploadevery day until Christmas.
Oh.
But the thing is that she does one ofthe first October, well, trademarks,
vlog, miss No, you don't have to.
Oh.
Like some people do.

(01:37:29):
Like a weekly vlog Miss or a weekly Yeah.
Michelle Fa
did vmi, she only did two videos.
Yeah.
But so to vp she did blogTO.
She did vlog October, sorry, October
1st, October 2nd, and then October 31st.
And then it's done.
It's there.
Fair enough.
Why
not?
Uh, but maybe wrong.
Yeah.
So like she does some pop culturecommentary in this episode and there
were a few videos like this, so it mighthave been something she was trying out.

(01:37:52):
Yeah,
she was trying like a commentary style.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Um,
she fan casts Henry Cavel asChristian Gray, uh, from 50 Shades.
Oh yes, you're right.
Sorry.
And thank you Henry Cavel for not
doing that.
Tanking
your career.
Yeah.
I mean, well he could've probablygot the bag, but it would've
would've been, I. Pretty sad.

(01:38:13):
Yeah.
Um, she also then talks about theKardashians for quite a long time.
So the boycott clearly failed 'causeshe's indulging in all this stuff.
Uh, being like Kim is a, Kim has agood heart and she's a mom, but she's
very vain and she wears so much makeup.
And why is she showingher butt on Instagram?
She's a mother.

(01:38:34):
She should be more like Kate Middleton,uh, which is like, just, we don't,
I don't think we even go into it
to be honest.
I, all I'm gonna say is that sometimeswith certain creators I follow for
whatever niche they do, and then theydecide that from their popularity.
And then now that they have like alove, you know, a big audience who

(01:38:57):
just, you know, love their takesand wanna know what they think, they
then decide to expand into thingsoutside their area of expertise.
And then I learn their opinions on thingslike, you know, society and politics.
And I wish.
I didn't,
well, this next one is, uh, I thinkquite funny in that, uh, she talks

(01:39:20):
about Caitlyn Jenner in the context ofthe time Bruce Jenner, and she's like,
does Bruce Jenner wanna be a woman?
Well,
I don't think so.
I just,
uh, they like golf and stuff.
Um, I think, uh, as you know, historyhas shown that is obviously, uh,

(01:39:42):
completely the opposite of what occurred.
Um, but, you know, uh, yeah,
I don't, I don't, I just, I'm likethat meme of Tyra Banks where it's
like, we were rooting for you.
We were all root for you.
Yeah.
I just, I, I, I'm kind of, and we didn'twatch all of them, but yeah, there's just
no, this one got 16 Kviews, so fair to say.

(01:40:03):
It did not connect with the 800 or so.
A hundred thousand subscribers.
It's, it's the kind
of thing where like when you seethese videos and you hear her takes
about like Kim Kardashian for example.
It makes you, and this is the thingwhen, and I'm sure even probably for
some people, not again, not too center
myself,
that's not what I'm trying to do.

(01:40:24):
But like I'm sure for some people in thecontext of this podcast where I'm like
being a little bit more opinionated,I'm speaking for a longer period of time
about topics and we're talking aboutpolitics and stuff in relation to YouTube.
People probably wouldn't know certainopinions that I hold and now they do.
And if they feel differently, they mightfeel differently about my other content.
Right?
Like maybe, but like it's the kind ofthing where I'm like, oh, okay, now

(01:40:46):
that I know that Venetian princess feelsthis type of way about like women who
dress provocatively and think like itclearly there's like some conservative.
Light conservative vibes there.
I think that's safe to say.
She being like, you're amother, put your butt away.
It's like, okay.
So then I'm like looking back at likeher old videos or like, of course
I immediately, I'm like, oh, okay.
So those videos where I'm like, oh,it's like maybe tongue in cheek,

(01:41:06):
she's pretending to be conservativeand you know, maybe doing some like
slut shame of behaviors, but I'm like, now I'm like, well, I don't actually
know if that's tongue and cheek or ifthat's like actually how she feels.
Like it's, it's, it's the trap.
It's the eternal creator trap ultimately.
Yeah.
Because the advice for manycreators is to like be to say your
opinions and to connect with youraudience, but sometimes I'm like,

(01:41:29):
oh, maybe you're gonna lose me here.
I don't know.
Do you have any thoughts on that?
No.
Okay.
I would like to touch on 2014 vp.
All of a sudden, basically, andlike the uploads have sort of been
teetering off, but she's still active.
But the channel basically, therestops being new videos uploaded.

(01:41:52):
Yeah.
It's just reloads.
Yes.
The reason this is in sort ofinterviews she's given more
recently is that her mother passedaway and she also had a child.
Yeah.
So she became a mother.
Okay.
Uh, and that basically, and she did aninterview advice where she spoke about
this and she was like, pretty much sincethen, I haven't done YouTube anymore.

(01:42:14):
She talked about to awaycompletely, I saw something
on her Wikipedia page.
Mm. And I dunno if it had a source or not.
Um, but it just was like, she said shewas gonna retire, but she announced that
she was retiring or like, I guess Yeah.
Semi retiring or whatever from YouTube.
Um, in light of, uh, yeah.
Having a child and, um, grievingher late mother, which Yeah.

(01:42:35):
Obviously is very pretty sad.
Yeah.
And there'll be like,um, there's some uploads.
Not sad about the baby, to be clear.
There's some uploads on the channeland she'll re-upload occasionally.
Um, and so it's not a case whereshe shut the channel or swore off
ever, you know, posting again.
Yeah.
Even in this interview, she's like, oh, Iwill still post if something interests me.

(01:42:56):
Yeah.
Nowadays, the one post sort ofsemi-retirement video I wanted
to talk about, and I, I know,uh, you enjoyed this one as well.
Uh, in say 2020 or so.
She did a, so she only
uploads, sorry, I just need to sayshe only uploads like once a year.
Yeah.
If that, and I will say that islikely, and I'm not a hundred percent

(01:43:18):
sure, but as again, YouTube insidebaseball, YouTube monetization you.
If you are a channel that hasYouTube monetization, you need to
upload like once a year to keep it.
Turned on essentially.
Yeah.
Because if you become inactive, they'll send you like an email being
like, Hey, you haven't uploaded inlike nine months, blah, blah, blah.
Um, if you don't upload something withinthe next three months, like you will

(01:43:41):
lose money to this on your channel.
They'll still run ads on yourchannel and make money from it.
You just don't get in cut anymore.
That is crazy.
It's kind of crazy.
Yeah.
Um, so for example, I had like aninactive channel and like I had
monetization on it and now I don't,I wasn't making really any money
from it anyway, so it doesn't matter.
But like that is an example.
Um, the Venetian princess, I assume wasdoing these re-up uploads or uploading
every now and then just to ensure thatshe kept monetization on her channel.

(01:44:05):
'cause she's got quite a bigand famous video library.
So, so to be clear, still uploadingonce a year from like 2014 and
then just nothing until 2020.
Yeah.
Uh, this video washing our dog and it isa sponsored video for a hypo, uh, allergic
hypoallergenic.

(01:44:26):
Hypoallergenic, yeah.
Sorry, what?
Hypoallergenic.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
Uh, I'll take your word for it.
What?
I, I've never, I'm not,you've never seen, I'm not
hyperallergenic.
You have allergies.
Yeah.
But not to, huh?
Not to washing products.
Not to like shampoo.
Not like a dog.
This is dog shampoo.
Sure.

(01:44:46):
Uh, concerning that you have, it's,it's like a dog wash sponsorship.
Yeah.
And it's her and herdaughter washing their dog.
It's like a 4-year-old child.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Uh, and it's like, I'm fascinatedon how this came to be.
I mean, do you think they justoffered her free dog wash?
No, I think they probably, soagain, more inside baseball, the

(01:45:10):
emails that you get as a YouTuber ofreally any size or any view catalog.
Like at some point you just startgetting these emails and you
just get the most random emails.
I get offers to do stuff for pets.
I don't have, I don't have a pet.
And they're like, Hey, diva, would you wanna like make a review
about our dog, like callers?

(01:45:30):
And I'm like, I don't have a dog.
Um, and I just don't respond.
But like, they're automatic emails sentout, like, and they just, you know,
they're crawling the internet for YouTubeis over x many subscribers or whatever,
and we'll just email pretty much everyone.
So I guess that's what happens.
I, I assume I could be so wrong, but like, yeah, you, you could be inactive for a

(01:45:51):
period of time and still get, um, emails.
I still get emails on my, about myold channel that I haven't uploaded
on in like, over a year of peoplebeing like, will you, um, make a
video about like pool cleaner pumps?
I'm like so serious.
I get multiple of those a year and I getemails about pool cleaners all the time,
or like robo vacuums and things like that.

(01:46:11):
So I'm assuming that's what happened.
I don't know.
It's, it's very random.
Yeah, it was
funny.
Um, and that's, that's kind of it on vp,
it's not the last videoon her channel though.
That's the second last video.
What's the last video?
Oh, it's just a, it's a TikTokuploaded that she's like cropped,
but the crop is broken, so you can'treally see what the video is about.

(01:46:31):
It's,
it's a living room transformation.
It's like an interiordecor before and after.
And it looks good.
Yeah, I think she meant toput it up as a short, but she
put it up as a main channel.
It's fine.
The aspect ratio,
it's good.
That's fine.
But yeah, that's, that's it.
That's it.
Got
legend.
Anyway.
Yeah.
Uh, so for considering neither of uswere familiar with vp, what's your

(01:46:55):
thoughts, what's your takeaways?
The, oh wait.
Is this the legacy or
this is the legacy.
The legacy of Venetian Princess.
This is the conclusion.
This is the conclusion.
Uh, I think Venetian Princess is.
So talented.
I think she has incredible editingprowess, incredible makeup skills.

(01:47:17):
Um, I'd be interested to see if she at anypoint, I mean, I know she said in one of
her videos that she was a YouTuber, likefull-time for like a decade basically.
But I'd be interested to see ifshe's not uploading anymore, if
she's just a stay at home mom.
Um, or if she's consideringlike, you know, if she's still
working in some capacity.
Obviously being a stayat home mom is a job.
I understand that.

(01:47:37):
I'm not saying it's not, but if shereturned to the workforce in a more
traditional sense, um, if she cameback to YouTube or if she Yeah.
Like wanted to do something else, likeshe could easily be a video editor,
a makeup artist, uh, like a singer.
Like she has so many skills.
Mm.
Um, and I just think she's so impressiveand such a pioneer and so creative.

(01:48:00):
And I hope I, I would love to see areturn of the Princess Chronicles.
Oh, also I wanna say is this, I don'tif this counts 'cause this is legacy.
Venetian Princess, if you see this, Ithink you'll be so good at ASMR because
the ASMR girlies love a green screen.
They love a costume.
If you love all of that, you should do ASMR content.
'cause like you could be so good at it.

(01:48:21):
Um, that's my, sorry.
I guess this is meant to be thelegacy of Venetian Princess, but
I just did a message to Venetian.
Yeah.
Wow.
We can, we are sure wecan talk to the creators.
Yeah, I just, good luck.
Shoot your shot.
I, no, I just, I think, I feel a littlesad in a sense that her channel didn't

(01:48:44):
like, and obviously if she's likehappy to leave YouTube and kind of
leave it where it is, that's so fine.
But I guess I feel a bit sadbecause I think she just is,
those early videos I'm like, wow.
She's like so cr and I'm surprisedI haven't heard of her before.
Do you know what I mean?
Like, 'cause they're so good.
Yeah.
The really early ones.
I will say the music video parodiesare a bit hit and miss for me

(01:49:04):
personally, but to be such an icon.
Yeah.
And like her, her legacyshould be remembered.
Your thoughts.
I think it's tough 'cause we didn'tget a full spectrum of videos.
Mm-hmm.
That's true.
What I saw of the, um, princessChronicles was really cool.

(01:49:26):
Uh, not something I personally wouldwatch, but in terms of like the early
YouTube stuff we've watched, I thinkit's definitely of a high quality.
So impressive.
Yeah.
I
think it's just a shame that thevideos that came after the parody stuff
mostly, and also the commentary andthe other various things she tried, uh,
I didn't really connect with at all.

(01:49:47):
And I thought the parody stuff wasparticularly quite bad in terms of the
spectrum of parody stuff we've seen.
Mm-hmm.
Like it doesn't help that there'sso many of them, whereas like other
creators, they spice it up a bit.
Yeah.
Um, so we just got hit withlike, it was like listening to
it, three albums of bad music.
Uh, but you know.

(01:50:08):
A pioneer like many of these people.
So I gotta give you props forbeing the original and you know,
as we said at one point, the mostsubscribed female on YouTube.
So true.
Yeah.
Did you have a favorite video of hers?
Um,
it's Halloween.
I was thinking, do you thinkPhoebe Bridges listened to

(01:50:28):
that when she wrote Halloween?
I have no idea.
Yeah.
Um, my favorite video, probably Mission Xbox
the first one.
Yeah.
Otherwise, Hillary be mybest friend is pretty good.
I kind of wish everything hadgone more in that direction.
Yeah.
And there were original songs.
Yeah.
The original stuff is really good.

(01:50:49):
I, I would have to say.
Yeah.
I also really liked Mission Xbox, but youknow what, shout out to it's Halloween.
Okay.
Because I
think any of her original songs, yeah.
Like she's musically talented.
She has a voice and an earfor, and she does the glam.
So, well, maybe the, maybe the, um,transformers video as well is so funny
because what is she talking about?

(01:51:10):
Like what are the Twitter icons?
I don't, I actually don't knowwhat it's about, but it makes it
funny to me because I'm like, whata relic of like Twitter culture.
Um, but yeah, that's, yeah.
Alexa Chung showed thatvideo on her MTV show.
Wow.
So when the IT girl is likeshouting out VP that video,
clearly the meaning lost to us.
But everyone at the timethought it was very cool.

(01:51:31):
Venetian Princess is the IT girlto iconic it girl Alexa Chung.
Yes.
So, yeah, it's pretty, pretty impressive.
Cool.
Yeah.
That's Ian Princess.
Yeah.
Uh, as we do at the end of each episode.
Lucy, what are yousubscribing to this week?
This week I am subscribing to hotcross bun because they're yummy.

(01:51:54):
Happy Easter.
For those I have all ofmy who celebrate, have
all of my things recently been food.
Uh,
no.
Right?
Yeah, yeah.
Bit food is one of the great joy.
It's an open
category, you know, youcan say whatever you like.
It's a category.
Um, particularly, uh, you can get likejust a slightly a bia hot cross bun
with like maybe a sourdough or like alittle bit of like candied peel in there.

(01:52:16):
I'm not, I'm not really about theclassic like plain sultana hot cross bun.
I want something just to step up fromthat little bit of like a, a mama
like glaze or something about it.
It goes crazy.
Put it on the toaster just to grillthe top part a little bit of lu pack.
We're living
yum now.

(01:52:37):
I am.
What, what are yousubscribing to this week?
Subscribing to.
A literal subscription.
Oh.
Uh, it's Xbox Games Pass.
What?
Which is Microsoft's Okay.
Netflix like product.
Wow.
So one theme
for this video?
Yeah.
You
pay like 15 bucks a month.
Mm-hmm.
And you have access to all thegames that Microsoft create.

(01:52:57):
Oh, wait, so we havegames, bars again right
now.
Yeah.
Nice.
I know what I'm doingafter this episode anyway.
Go on.
Uh, yeah, so I've beenplaying a few games on that.
Mm-hmm.
And it's quite fun andit's pretty good value.
Any particular game you wanna shout out?
No, nothing in particular.
Okay.
Yeah.
I'll save that for future weeks.
Oh

(01:53:18):
yeah.
Saving up your subscriptions.
I've been a bit dry on, bit shorton subs recently, so I don't
want to blow them all at once.
Wow.
I
don't wanna blow your load.
Anyway, um, that wasepisode 10 of rewind time.
Venetian Princess.
Thank you.
And yeah, milestoneepisode 10 of our podcast.
How you feeling?
.Yeah.
I think it's pretty coolto reach episode 10.
Um, it's been cool to see peopleenjoy, you know, the podcast so far.

(01:53:42):
Mm-hmm.
As ever like.
Per like, you know, Fran made thesuggestion that we cover Venetian
Princess, so if there are YouTubersthat you guys think we should cover,
either write us a comment or send usan email and Yeah, we'll if they're
someone in the next few years, thenwe'll chuck them in the rotation.
You could also DM us on the Rewind Timessocials on Instagram and or TikTok,

(01:54:09):
which potentially will be having somelittle, some little clips popping up.
We're gonna start chopping it up.
Yeah, we gotta get on, we gottaget on, we gotta get on the grind.
You get on the short form content.
We could doing
the the we.
We've gotta be the top.
Yeah.
We cover landscape.
We're on landscape, but wegotta get into, we gotta crack
into the portrait video market.
