Hoe blijf je dicht bij de lokale context van jouw school, met begrip voor de vraagstukken die daar spelen, maar ben je tegelijk ook verbonden met de wereld daarbuiten en wat dat van het onderwijs vraagt? Nadine Duymaer van Twist en Petra Tijmstra verkennen deze week de vraag: hoe beweeg je je in een wereld die in toenemende mate zowel lokaal als mondiaal is?
Ze gaan in gesprek met Cees Visser, directeur van Eilandschool de Jutter op Vlieland, en Vanita Attema, interim teamleider in het voortgezet onderwijs en coach van startende schoolleiders bij Leaders for Solutions.
Nooit eerder waren de werkvelden van onze twee gasten zo uiteenlopend. Terwijl Cees doelbewust een breder perspectief biedt door actief de buitenwereld naar binnen te brengen en met zijn leerlingen naar ‘de wal’ te gaan, brachten de expats op Vanita’s school in Amstelveen zelf ‘de wereld’ naar binnen.
De schoolleiders nemen je enthousiast mee in hun persoonlijke ervaringen rondom ouderbetrokkenheid, de samenwerking met hun bestuur en de begeleiding van nieuwe (zij-instromende) professionals.
Vanita deelt haar tip uit het bedrijfsleven, opgedaan tijdens het crossmentortraject, en Cees heeft een interessante oplossing gevonden voor het lerarentekort.
De paradoxen in leiderschap die we in Schoolbaas bespreken, zijn niet alleen relevant voor schoolleiders, maar voor álle leidinggevenden.
