(00:00):
Did you know? In Mark chapter 5, it says, Thena leader of the local synagogue, whose name
was Jairus, arrived. When he saw Jesus, he fellat his feet, pleading fervently with him. My
little daughter is dying, he said. Please comeand lay your hands on her. Heal her so she
can live. So they set off to Jairus' house toheal his daughter. On the way there, a huge
(00:24):
crowd was following them. And this is wherewe find the story of the woman with the issue
of blood. who touched Jesus' garment and washealed. While Jesus was still talking to this
woman, someone came from Jairus' home. "'Yourdaughter is dead,' he said. "'Don't bother
the teacher anymore.' Hearing this, Jesus saidto Jairus, "'Don't be afraid. "'Just believe
(00:46):
and she will be healed.' When they came to thehome where the child was sick, Jesus saw much
commotion and weeping and wailing. He went insideand asked, "'Why all this commotion and weeping?
"'The child isn't dead. "'She's only asleep.'The crowd laughed at him, but he made them
all leave, and he took the girl's father andmother and his three disciples into the room
(01:07):
where the girl was lying. So often God is doingsomething in our life. He sends his word, we
listen, and we believe. We are walking towardsthat word, that promise, that goal with God.
We are on our way somewhere with God, but thenalong the way there, some voice comes along,
some report, some information. And it throwsus for a loop. It may even be true. Suddenly,
(01:32):
we're confronted with facts that seem to contradicteverything we've been hoping for. In reality,
the girl was most likely dead. At least, whatthey knew of being dead. She fit the bill.
With a voice, the report comes, Eh, don't bother. She's dead. Stop wasting Jesus' time. Just
accept it and move on. What you thought wouldhappen won't. You missed it. Sorry. Just move
(01:55):
on. And even though Jesus said to him, Don'tworry, she's not dead. Jairus still heard those
words. They probably directly hit his heart. And even though Jesus is there saying it's
okay, there is a huge crowd weeping and wailingand carrying on, further solidifying the report
that she is dead. It's hard not to notice thecrowd. It's hard not to notice the facts. It's
(02:19):
hard not to notice the reality in front of usbeing backed up by the noise and commotion.
Oh, I guess I misunderstood or I got it wrong.Maybe Jesus isn't going to heal my daughter.
I guess it's too late. I missed my miracle.I should just face the facts. Here's a desperate
guy on his way to bring his sick daughter help. They're already late because they unexpectedly
(02:41):
stopped to heal the woman with the issue ofblood. So he is extra stressed, I'm sure. Every
second counts. We need to get there. And thenhere comes people from his own house. Don't
bother. She's dead. It's too late. But Jesuswas unfazed by those words, for he knew the
truth. The crowd didn't see what he saw anddidn't know what he knew. The crowd was only
(03:03):
responding to what was right in front of theirface, and they took that as absolute truth.
There are two truths, two realities, if youwill, happening at the same time. There is
the reality that the girl is dead. Then thereis the reality that Jesus is saying she's not
dead, but only sleeping. So the reality accordingto what we know about the girl, and the reality
(03:26):
according to what Jesus knows about the girl.Sometimes what we know and see and accept as
truth isn't always the only option. Or maybethere is something beyond what we see and hear
that is actually the real truth. A truth greaterthan the one right in front of us. We should
base our lives off of what God knows and notbe limited by what little we know. Sometimes
(03:49):
we need to expand our beliefs. and realize thatmaybe we know less than we think we do. Who's
to say there isn't a whole other reality rightthere in front of us? Oh, but you have to accept
the facts. The girl is dead, obviously. Ourgreatest experts on being dead have confirmed
this. She's in fact dead, accepted and moveon. I wonder how many things we are missing
(04:12):
out on because we just accept these so-calledfacts and move on. We don't always have to
accept words as truth. Even if they appear real.especially when they are in direct opposition
to what God is saying. Don't let any voice comeand talk you out of something you know God
has said and convince you it's too late no matterhow real or factual it appears to be. Stick
(04:35):
with what God is saying. People don't alwayssee the whole picture. Just because you don't
believe something is true doesn't mean it'snot possible. We can be tempted to start responding
to the weeping, the wailing, the report, thecommotion. We hear Jesus, but there's so much
commotion, it's hard to remain in what he issaying. It's hard to not be distracted by the
(04:57):
opposing realities around us. Jairus could havesaid, oh well, just leave. We have been through
enough, let us mourn. And that would have beenthat, his daughter would have truly been dead.
Or instead, choose to stick with Jesus, stickwith what he is saying, his words, his truth,
and kick out the other voices and commotion.and believe she will be okay. Right now you
(05:21):
could be on your way somewhere with Jesus, believingfor a miracle. And so many voices keep coming
up to you. Oh don't bother anymore, it's toolate. Whatever you've been believing for, whatever
you've been waiting for, it's not going to happen. But Jesus is saying, don't listen, it's not
so. Just keep walking with me and believe. Don'tlisten to all the commotion, the wailing, the
(05:42):
weeping. It's just noise. Stop settling forwhat we think is possible. and move towards
what God says is possible. How many things dowe just accept because they are facts? How
many times have you said or heard it said, well, that's just the reality of it. Well, maybe
it is, but maybe there is another reality thatis greater. We have decided it's too late,
(06:05):
but God is saying, don't listen. You don't knowwhat I know. Your breakthrough isn't dead.
It's still there. We just need to keep walkingand believe. The answer for Jairus' daughter
was simply to get rid of everything that wasopposing the words Jesus was saying. Kick them
out and make them leave. In your life, Jesusmay be saying one thing while circumstances
(06:29):
shout another. Choose to stick with Jesus' words, even when faced with contradictory and opposing
reports or discouraging facts. Choose to stickwith what God knows about your situation. And
just like Jairus' daughter, the impossible.will become possible for you.
