Welcome to Social Media forsmall businesses. Are you ready
to turn social media into apowerful marketing funnel that
drives growth, connectsauthentically with your audience
and boosts sales? I'm CheyenneClayman, social media strategist
and agency owner here to helpyou transform your social media
into a tool for measurableresults. Each episode, you'll

(00:28):
get actionable strategies, reallife examples and proven
techniques to grow your brandand make an impact. So grab a
notebook and pen. It's time tomake social media work for you.
Picture this, your post pops upin someone's feed, and instead

(00:51):
of scrolling past, they stop, they laugh, they relate, and
then they click Share. Suddenly, their friends see it, and it
starts a ripple effect. That'sthe magic of shareable content,
and it's what everybody wants. But no, it's not just reserved
for big brands or influencers.Small businesses, just like

(01:12):
yours, can absolutely createcontent that gets shared and
seen by more people. It's allabout how you do it. Today, I'm
breaking down the strategybehind shareable content, and
trust me, it's more science thanluck. So let's go. Let's put our
investigative glasses on. Let'sgo in the lab, and let's break

(01:34):
this down and get started. Ifyou've been listening to this
podcast for some time, you knowthat I often like to dive into
the why before we dive into thehow. Because I feel that if you
don't understand why you'redoing something, it can be very
easy to get discouraged or justgive up completely. So in order
for you to understand why we dothe shareable content, I want to

(01:56):
share why it's so important. What does it actually mean to
your bottom line, which isultimately growing your social
media presence so that you cangrow your business and make more
sales. So shareable content isso important because, number
one, it extends your reach.Every time someone shares your
post, you're getting freeexposure to their audience. It's

(02:17):
really, truly a win, winpartnership and relationship.
You know, before the age ofsocial media, this is just
organically how businessesgained more clients and more
people back in the day, right?Even today, we still do it,
right? If you, you know, have agreat experience with a
business, you tell your friendsabout it. So this is just the
social way of doing so. Andactually, you can reach a lot

(02:40):
more people than word of mouth, because chances are, you one
person tells one person, andthey may tell one other person,
or they may tell another. Whenyou create shareable content and
one person shares it, they'renot just reaching one person,
they're reaching all thosepeople's followers in that
audience, and that growth isunbelievably valuable. Number

(03:03):
two, it builds credibility. Sowhen people share your content,
they're essentially endorsingyour business to their network.
Now, I don't know if you're abig social media user yourself.
I know that I speak with a lotof business owners and even some
of our own clients, they purelyare on social for their
business. But chances are, ifyou're like about 80% of the

(03:23):
rest of the world, you may haveyour own personal social media
profiles and think about theposts that you've ever shared,
or even the ones that you engagewith. Chances are, there's a
reason why they have called youinto engaging with them, which
is whether liking or commenting. If you share a video or you
share a post with someone else,it means that they've captured

(03:45):
your attention, and more thanlikely you trust them. And
number three, it sparksengagement. So shared posts, as
I just shared myself, oftenleads to likes, comments and
even more, shares, which, asmost of us know nowadays that
social media has a thing calledthe algorithm, and this is what
tells it to keep pushing outyour content, and that your

(04:09):
content is valuable, andultimately, the more shares are
just going to build momentum foryour brand. Okay, so maybe now
you're convinced, and you'relike, all right, Cheyenne, I get
it, that's the why. Let's getinto the nitty gritty. Let's get
into the meat and potatoes.Let's hear about what makes it
shareable. Well, here we go.Let's dive in. I'm going to

(04:30):
share with you my secret sauce.I'm going to share with you four
ways or four reasons thatdifferent pieces of content
becomes shareable. So first andforemost, it's all about
emotion, right? Content thatmakes people feel something so
it's not always necessarilysomething great. It's not always

(04:50):
going to be something meaning apositive emotion. Sometimes
negative emotions can be reallypowerful on social media to
bring people into their pain. Sothat they realize they want to
come out of it, so it can belaughter, inspiration, or even
curiosity. It's something thatis going to be more likely to be
shared. For example, say it's aheartfelt welcome home. Story of

(05:15):
a family who has just boughttheir first house. If you're a
realtor, this is gold. This isdefinitely something that you
want to share. It puts peopleinto the space and place of
imagining themselves in thatsimilar circumstance or
situation. Or say, you have atourism company showing a family
or showing a couple experiencingwhat it is that you have, say

(05:36):
it's a boat ride. You're a boatrental company and putting
people there, showing theengagement, showing someone
popping the question, reallycreates this eviction of emotion
that people either say, I wantthat I want to feel that, or,
wow, that's something that isjust touched my heart, and I

(05:57):
want to share it and help othersfeel this way too. Number two is
relatability, so people sharecontent they identify with,
right? So if there's a feelingof me too, or like I was sharing
in the first point of I want tobe like that, or that's
something I want to experience, chances are they're going to
share it. I know, for instance, one of my other brands, one of

(06:20):
my other companies is called theEnergize mama. And I help moms
gain energy so that they can usethat energy to fulfill their
other goals in life. Andultimately, the women I help and
speak to the most areentrepreneurs, and when I create
content for that audience, Imostly share from within my own

(06:41):
life, because I'm also amompreneur, but something that
moms can feel seen by. Sowhether it's about talking about
the lack of sleep, or fitting ina workout for the first time in
a week, or trying to puttogether a healthy meal for
their family and making surethey don't just eat the
leftovers, those are allfeelings that moms actually

(07:01):
feel, and so those are often mypieces of content that gets re
shared the most, just becausethey have a sense of someone
gets it, someone sees me, andthat's what you want to make
sure you do. So for smallbusinesses, it's important for
you to share behind the scenesmoments, even if it's the story
of how your business started, orsay, just a simple day in the

(07:24):
life, you would be amazed at howintriguing that is to your
audience. Number three practicalvalue, right? This, perhaps is
one of the most shareablecontent. It's content that
solves a problem or teachessomething is just simply social
media gold. So some people areafraid. I get this question once

(07:44):
in a while, even from our ownclients, like hey Cheyenne, we
want to share this tip, butwe're afraid that people will
get too much for free and nevercome back to us and actually buy
our own services. And I'll tellthem, hey, I used to feel that
way too, but you really cannotout serve someone the more and
more that you show them thevalue that they're going to get

(08:05):
when they sign up with you. Infact, you're actually going to
give them more value when theypurchase something from you. So
making sure that anything youput out there for free, whether
it's a downloadable freebie, orif it's just content that really
solves a problem for them, orhelps them get started on that
journey to making that purchasethat will ultimately give them

(08:26):
that transformation that they'relooking for. You're going to
build that trust factor. Andnumber four, something that
makes content shareable issimply just visually appealing
content. So you've probablyheard video is King nowadays,
just simply because that is theculture that we're in. Every
single social media platform nowhas its own video content, so

(08:50):
anything from just eye catchingvideos, but also photos or
graphics are going to besomething that just gets more
noticed. That's what people'seyes are drawn to. Quick little
pro tip is, you want to usevibrant colors, clear fonts and
bold headlines. Those threethings, vibrant colors, clear
fonts and bold headlines. Iknow, personally, I love

(09:13):
anything that's written like inbeautiful calligraphy, and
something that looks likecursive. I feel like it feels
very, you know, rustic and oldand medieval. But at the end of
the day, that is not easy toread, and it could be very
easily, something that getspassed by versus if I had just
used a more boring and boldfont.

(09:33):
Yeah, Hey, you. I want to talkto you about something. Let me
guess you're doing everythingthey say to you to do on social
media, you're postingconsistently, you're using
hashtags, even trying to show upon video, but somehow it still
feels like you're just shoutinginto the void. You're getting a
few likes, maybe even some newfollowers here and there. But

(09:56):
when it comes to actualengagement, the kind that I'm
talking turn. Friends, intoclients, into sales. It's
crickets. And the worst part, social media is supposed to help
grow your business, but insteadit's just eating up more and
more of your precious time, leaving you frustrated and
wondering if it's even worth it.Here's the truth, posting isn't

(10:17):
enough. Your audience needs tofeel connected to you before
they ever buy from you. And thatconnection comes from strategic
engagement, and that is exactlywhy I created the social growth
lab. For just $97 a month, you'll get a clear, simple
strategy to actually grow, notjust in numbers, but in real
relationships that lead tosales. I'll give you the exact

(10:41):
engagement tactics you need tostop spinning your wheels and
start seeing real traction. Andthe best part, if you refer a
friend, you both get in for just$47 a month, no contracts, no
risk, just results. So if you'reready to stop wasting time on
social media and finally, makeit work for your business, join

(11:01):
the social growth lab today. Thelink is in the show notes. I'll
see you inside. So now that youguys, I'm sure you've been
taking notes, scribbling downthings, or typing furiously on
your phone, trying to figureout, okay, this is great. I love
that maybe some ideas havestarted to pour out of you.
Well, I want to give you somecontent ideas to get you
started. Because, hey, I want tobe a product of my own teaching,

(11:26):
right? I want to give you guyssome value, some shareable
content. Maybe this is somethingthat you will share with others,
but ultimately, I want to makesure you guys get started on
this. So let's make this allactionable. Here are some post
ideas designed to get shared. Soone, you can do infographics.
These are, like, bite sized, little visually pleasing, simple

(11:48):
little pieces of info. Numbertwo, you can do list and tips.
So what does that mean? Well, quick, valuable tips, kind of
like, say you're a coffee shop,or if you are a restaurant or a
side bowl place, right, youcould create something like the
best coffee shops in your city,or say, your home organizer put

(12:11):
simple ways to declutter yourhome in a weekend. It can be
something very simple thatactually one very clever way to
do this is to do a post thatcould be shareable by other
people that speak to the sameaudience as you. So you're cross
posting, and you're basicallyable to talk to other people's
audience while also ultimatelygaining more people for yours.

(12:35):
Another idea is to do behind thescenes videos, so just really
showing the personality behindyour business. People really,
really love to see the peoplebehind the business, because
chances are, you're not the onlyone out there for them to choose
from. Meaning you're not amonopoly, right? More likely
than not, no matter whatindustry you're in, no matter

(12:57):
what location you're in, thereis competition. So when people
come look for you online, showwho you are, because that is
going to stand out more to themthan another brand who doesn't.
And honestly, I'm sure this isprobably the most shareable
content most of us know arememes and humor. So if it fits
into your brand, if it aligns, don't be afraid to lean into

(13:18):
humor, even if it's doing somekind of a viral trend or using
some viral audio on Tiktok orInstagram, have fun, play with
it and get your teammatesinvolved. Now that you've got
your shareable content. How doyou encourage shares? Because
it's one thing to have it, andsome things go viral right away.
Some things you don't have to doa lot of work, and I'm

(13:41):
unfortunately, I have to tellyou, there's not really a key
scientific formula thatguarantees viral there are some
things that you can do, butultimately, to guarantee that
your shareable content actuallygets shared is you want to make
sure you encourage people toactually hit that share button.
So you really want to make itsimple for them. Here's a way

(14:02):
you can do it. If you'velistened to my podcast a few
times, you'll know I'm alwaystalking about CTAs, CTAs, CTAs.
So what is that? That's a callto action. It's literally just
asking people to share it. Soyou really can just put
something, either on the videoitself, or in the caption

(14:23):
something like, Hey. Knowsomeone who needs these tips,
tag them or share this post. You've probably heard me say
that in this podcast. At the endof every podcast, I always
encourage you to share this withanother business owner that may
need this specific type of help. You can also make it easier on
your audience by includingsharing buttons on your post or
in your captions, especially sayif on Instagram, if you have

(14:44):
over 10,000 followers, when youshare something in your stories,
put a link in there so peoplecan immediately swipe up and go
exactly where you want them togo. And don't be afraid to get
personal post content thatsparks conversations, you know,
ask people what's one thing. Youwish about blah blah blah, or
what's one thing you wish youknew about or before doing blah

(15:05):
blah blah fill in the blank thatworks for your niche and allow
your audience to open up to you. Now, staying on top of trends
also can make your content morerelevant and shareable. So
anything from, say, just makingsure that when you look at your
content plan that you look atwhat's coming up in your
business, as far as perhapspromotions or sales or coupons,

(15:28):
but also making sure that youare creating content that's
going to be seasonal and ontrend for what's going on in the
year. So anything that wouldhave to do with seasons or
holidays or events is really, really prime for sharing
content. You also can searcharound and find what was working

(15:50):
out there, like trendingformats, whether it's
experimenting with reels,carousels, interactive polls.
You know, if you spend some timeon social media yourself, look
at what's getting shared a lot, kind of become an investigator,
a little bit of a SherlockHolmes, and look at things more
objectively, you know, step backand real and start to
investigate and really seewhat's working and what's not.

(16:11):
What are you seeing most on yourfeeds, as opposed to not? So I
know that with that and maybe alot of other things in this
episode, you could easily getoverwhelmed. And I understand
that. My team and I, we get it,creating shareable content takes
