Wał Pomorski 🏰, system niemieckich umocnień od Darłowa po Wałcz, był w 1945 r. celem I Armii Wojska Polskiego 🇵🇱 dowodzonej przez gen. Stanisława Popławskiego. Początkowo Polacy, źle wyposażeni i wyczerpani, atakowali w trudnych zimowych warunkach ❄, ponosząc ciężkie straty. Walki były brutalne, a oddziały Waffen-SS dopuściły się zbrodni wojennych, m.in. w Podgajach 🔥. Przełamanie nastąpiło dopiero przy wsparciu artylerii i lotnictwa, otwierając drogę na całe Pomorze. W historii zapisał się epizod z 1 marca 1945 r. – ostatnia szarża polskiej kawalerii 🐎, w której wzięło udział 180 ułanów. Szacowane straty to ok. 2000 poległych i 2800 rannych po stronie polskiej oraz nawet 8000 po stronie niemieckiej ⚔. Wał Pomorski pozostał symbolem ofiary i determinacji żołnierzy.
