Through the winter season, the Steamboat Sound Check podcast, presented by McCreight Progressive Dentistry, has teamed up with Schmiggity’s to showcase the exceptional artists gracing their local stage.
This week, we're thrilled to feature Nate Werth—a five-time Grammy Award-winning percussionist renowned for his innovative rhythms and dynamic performances. Hailing from Dyer, Indiana, Nate's musical journey has taken him from early orchestral percussion lessons to becoming a pivotal member of the jazz-fusion collective Snarky Puppy. His inventive use of both traditional and non-traditional instruments has not only defined his unique sound but also contributed significantly to the band's success.
In 2015, Nate co-founded Ghost-Note alongside fellow Snarky Puppy drummer Robert "Sput" Searight. What began as a side project has evolved into a powerhouse ensemble pushing the boundaries of funk, jazz, and hip-hop. Ghost-Note boasts an impressive roster of musicians who've collaborated with legends like Prince, Snoop Dogg, Erykah Badu, and Herbie Hancock. Their albums Fortified (2015) and Swagism (2018) both debuted at #1 on the iTunes Jazz Chart, solidifying their place in contemporary music.
