The night before, Lilian attended a dance at a local Territorial Army drill hall. There, she was seen arguing with a man described as middle-aged, round-faced, and wearing a camel-hair coat. Witnesses noted her visible distress after the argument. Alone and uneasy, Lilian left the event, walking into the cold night—unaware of the horror that awaited her.

Evidence suggests Lilian may have encountered the stolen Morris 1000, potentially driven by her killer. Whether she accepted a ride or was forcibly taken remains unknown. The killer struck her with the car, abducted her, and inflicted further brutal violence before abandoning her alive in the freezing cold, where hypothermia ultimately claimed her life.
