George Washington, USA sin første president, hadde én tann i munnen da han ble president 57 år gammel. Han hadde malaria, tuberkulose, difteri, kopper, diaresykdommer og døde til slutt av en halsinfeksjon. Han gjennomgikk ville behandlinger og sugde på blysukker for å dempe betennelse i munnen og hadde nok ganske dårlig ånde! Han hadde et digert gebiss i munnen laget av bly-, gull-, dyre- og slavetenner.
