What do you get when you cross multiple Robert Pattinson's and Pamela Anderson in the razzle dazzle? Episode 42 of The Chronicle Film Podcast as Clotilde and Paul review Mickey 17 plus The Last Showgirl.
First up is Bong Joon-Ho sci-fi satire Mickey 17 starring Robert Pattinson. This film is based on Edward Ashton's novel of the same name. We follow Mickey Barnes (Pattinson) is hired for an unique job as an ‘expendable’, sent into space to head to colonize the world of Niflheim. Every time he dies, he’s cloned and restarts again! The film also stars Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, Mark Ruffalo.
Related Post: Mickey 17 ReviewThe second and final film is Gia Coppola's The Last Showgirl starring Pamela Anderson. This film has arrived with a lot of buzz, as Anderson's big dramatic comeback. A similar comeback like Mickey Rourke's The Wrestler but with a story closer to The Substance. She plays Shelly a woman who has been dancing for 30 years at Las Vegas last Showgirl show. The show abruptly ends leaving Shelly no clue what to do next, what does do is try and repair a strained relationship with her daughter (Billie Lourd). The film also stars Dave Batista, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kieran Shipka and Brenda Song.
