(00:00):
It's good to see you, Nick. What? I just said it's good to see you.
There's no punchline. Alright, man. Ready? Everyone's ready?
No. Yes. You're never ready. I am ready. No. He just says no just to say it.
It's funny as shit.
Hello, listeners. Welcome to the Gamepad Saga podcast. Gamepad Saga. I'm Eric.
(00:26):
Today we have Kashawn. Yes. We have two Two guests with us. Two.
Daryl. Hello. Daryl was here last time. Hey, guys.
Nate's first time. Hello, Nate. Hi. Daryl was here with us. What was our last one? Nintendo.
Nintendo and- And that's some basketball. Yeah. Basketball. Basketball.
2K basketball. 2K25 just came out. Yeah.
(00:48):
And I heard it was actually really good. You did? Yeah. All right.
I heard it was really good. Have you played it yet? No, I have not.
It was 2K day the other day and you haven't?
No. No, I have not. And I know it said no really loud like that because,
you know, I'm boycotting.
No, come on, man. You're going to boycott. Jason Tatum on the cover or one of the covers.
That's what I'm saying, because we talked about that. My man Jose at work is
(01:11):
a Boston Celtics fan. I'm pretty sure he's over the moon.
Yeah, that's probably why he grabbed it. He didn't. I don't think he played.
I don't think he plays 2K. No.
Picking that thing up. I'm picking it up. I'm hurting people's feelings. Three bucks again.
But no, hurting people's feelings. I'm yamming. I'm shooting threes.
I'm doing behind the back step back who's your mama I'm getting it all no you're
(01:33):
not yes I am no you're not alright I may not I don't know nah nah.
So, today's episode, we are going to talk about the Gran Turismo series.
Yeah. Yeah. Let's get into the origin story of this real quick.
I wish I was good. You wish you were? I wish you were good.
Well, we'll figure that out. But let's get into the origin story.
(01:56):
You boys. You're going to start out this way already.
All right. Go ahead. You boys. You too. You too.
Let me tell y'all a story real quick. So, how this man got into Gran Turismo was because of me. Okay.
So yes yes you you have that face is
because of me i remember the commercial for gran turismo came out i think it
(02:17):
was what what it came out 97 98 98 the commercial came out for it i'm like oh
man this looks like it's gonna be a great game it's gonna be awesome it's gonna
be trash it's gonna be terrible you like all the obscure stupid games that's
what i would get now this he did the
same thing with me on middle gear solid as well same thing
(02:37):
right so i rent the game
i get it and it's i can't turn i can't brake fast enough i don't have fast cars
i don't really like this game very much this man tries it and the rest was fucking
history this is how this man got Out in the Gran Turismo.
(02:58):
At first, I thought it was just going to be another arcade game.
That's what I thought. Because Gran Turismo was dubbed as the real driving simulator.
I was like, no, it's not. It's going to be lame.
Yeah. And then I played it. The rest is history. Yeah. If I didn't rent it,
you would have never knew. You would have never knew.
(03:18):
Since the first one. Yes.
You guys play the first one? Daryl? Nate? The first time I saw the first one
was at my aunt's house in Philly,
either Philly or Delaware.
(03:38):
What did you think? My brother O'Neal was playing it. Who? O'Neal.
It's a brother. Oh, okay.
Name sounds familiar. I just saw it on the screen and it I mean back in the day it was all,
pixelated yeah we did and that was it never even played the first one uh huh girl thank you,
(04:05):
Okay. And that's the end of our podcast. Yes. So, guys, good night.
Now, the first time that I was introduced to Gran Turismo was through Nate.
Nate did it. So, it's a funny story. So, this is how I initially met Nate.
Met him at an apartment complex. And one day, I happened to get off or something
(04:28):
like that. And I came over.
And I saw Nate playing the game. And I remember to this day,
because Nate had a smart ass comment, because I was like, you know,
I'm going to get another job or something like that or apply for another job.
And Nate was like, you work a lot of jobs.
And all I saw him playing was like Gran Turismo. Right.
(04:48):
And no, he didn't say you work a lot of jobs. He said you switch a lot of jobs.
That's what he said. I remember that.
And I just stood there and I saw him playing and he was like writing the TV
and he was playing, he was playing, he was playing. And then when four came
out, that's when I linked up with him and started playing with him.
It's funny that you mentioned that odd fact. You know, the average male goes
(05:10):
through at least 18 to 19 jobs before they find something that they land. Ask Nate.
Did you know that, Nate? That means I'm on a good track.
I don't think I'm into teens yet. Ask Nate. Okay. What does Nate do? What do you do, Nate?
As work? Yeah. I'm a maintenance guy. That's good stuff. Yeah.
(05:34):
He's got it made in the shade. Don't let him fool you. Yeah.
That's good stuff. No, it's hot outside.
He said it's hot outside. I ain't trying to be out there.
All right. So all the Gran Turismo games are developed by Polyphony Digital.
They're published by Sony and Active Entertainment.
Kezi Nuri Yamamuchi, better known as Kez, is the CEO of Polyphony Digital.
(05:56):
And he's I guess you know the one behind Gran Turismo Gran Turismo yeah yes.
Did you know he did a little racing for a while? No. He participated in the
25 Hours of Thunderhill and also the 25 Hours of Nürburgring.
It was twice that his car and the Nissan GT-R didn't win, or his class anyway. Is that the Nismo?
(06:21):
The GT-R was the Nismo back in the day? Yes. Okay. That was back in 2011.
See, I know a little bit, guys. 2012. I know a little bit. I know a little bit.
Not too much, but a little bit.
So, back in the early 90s when Kaz was, I guess, with Sony, started with Sony,
they did not have faith in him to start Gran Turismo.
(06:42):
It's any company, sure. Right. Because he knew at the time.
And then he created a game called Motor Toon Grand Prix. Motor Toons? Yeah. No way!
Yeah. That was a great-ass game, too.
I guess it was like a Mario Kart for the PlayStation, I guess you could say.
And it sold pretty well. Then after that, Sony said, all right,
(07:04):
we'll let you work on Gran Turismo. You got your shot, kid.
You got your shot. So Gran Turismo 1, you can play it on the PS2 and the PS3.
It was released in Japan on December 23rd of 97, released in the States May
12th of 98, and sold 10.85 million copies.
(07:26):
2.55 million to Japan, 10K went to Southeast Asia, 4.3 million went to Europe,
and 3.9 were sold in the States.
And also, Gran Turismo is the best-selling PS1 game. Did you guys know that? No.
Really? Yeah. Dang. Nate did, thanks to Nate.
(07:48):
Nate bought the game like six times. Right? I've never played.
He saw it that one time, saw the pixelations, like, I got to buy this game.
Got like six copies. Thanks to Nate. Yep.
Thank you nate gt featured 140 cars 14 different manufacturers and 11 racetracks
and they didn't have the license for real racetracks so they were fantasy racetracks,
(08:11):
grants for them did licensing tests i guess you could say yeah so the teach you how to,
use the brake how to take turns anything with you know motor racing kind of
i guess you can You can call it a tutorial type thing.
You okay, Steve? Yeah, choked on my beer.
(08:33):
Can't breathe and swallow at the same time, boys and girls, just so you know.
GT1, the race weekend, I guess you could say, was like a real race weekend.
Qualifying, practice, tune your car.
But now, there's no qualifying in the game. Just like in rear race.
They should bring that back. Some of them.
(08:54):
Bring back qualifying? Yeah. In the game. I go back and forth.
Because they i mean now they put you at the back make
it a little artificial this is for like the campaign playing
or online or both for gt1 no
online yet but you can say yeah the campaign or
any single player mode but yeah
(09:15):
okay makes sense i'm just here
for the questions oh because i have i have
played little of this game yeah very little but
yeah i mean you could no adjust a lot of things in your car tires turbos and
our coolers oh i would see this man tinkering with his cars for hours so just
i'd be sitting in this room like what is he doing like this is so boring like
(09:38):
i don't know what's going on and he's like changing the pitch and changing.
Tire pressure yeah yeah oh yeah the game did allow you to change the tire pressure
i just threw that out there they needed they just got rid of it for seven i
don't know sport did that we'll get there when we talk about it each race only
allowed six cars on the track,
(09:59):
the game did have a feature like a memory card
battle thing this was a feature that allows you to
save your save cars that you could acquire during
i guess the one player campaign mode yeah i remember
that i will say just a little tidbit i
grand trismo had some pretty good soundtracks i
will say that i remember listening to the music while you were
(10:21):
playing and like damn it's just banging this is
yeah i'll give gran turismo that for sure and
they brought them back for seven i don't know if y'all know this like
all the song tracks oh no not all
of them but stuff that we did listen to like way back when they're on seven
oh nice i'm sorry my bad oh you're fine man it's okay my bad just had a flashback
(10:41):
sorry yeah bring them out we're good yeah all the stories you can think of i'm
just emotionally damaged by nate that's all oh no Well, we'll get to that in a little bit.
So, Fast and Furious movie came out in 2001, right? Mm-hmm. Do you guys remember
the video game Need for Speed High Stakes?
Yes. Now, this game came out in 99. Mm-hmm.
And remember in Fast and Furious, I talk about paint slips? Mm-hmm.
(11:04):
Racing for pinks? Mm-hmm. Yeah, you could do that in Need for Speed.
You could literally put your car up for a race, and if you lost, it was gone.
You don't remember that? Do you own this game? You did? Yeah. At one point.
Mm-hmm. I need to see it yeah I think it was the first Need for Speed that had,
cockpit view right not sure we'll have to do a Need for Speed episode realistic
(11:28):
cockpit view but anyway go ahead I'm sorry.
But I thought that was, at that time, you know, early 2000s,
we're like, hey, let's add some realism.
That's right. No one played GT1, right? I didn't. I did briefly.
Well, my favorite track was Grand Valley. Just one day.
(11:49):
Done with this. When you played the campaign mode, GT did have a used car lot.
That's right. And it will update every 10 days, I guess, in-game days.
Oh, did it? Mm-hmm. Oh, my God. This game was more sophisticated than I thought. It was.
Holy cow. It had to be. One? This is one. It had to be.
(12:10):
What you got in all your other games, GT1 made it president. Grandpa. What?
I guess you would say GT1's the GOAT. Yes. It is. It is. I agree.
I don't know. A lot of people say 2's better.
2 graphically got a bit better, but we'll get to that when we get there.
(12:31):
Oh, we're there now. This guy. Two is graphically better, for sure.
Because I know we all played two. Yes. I didn't play two. You didn't play two?
I didn't jump on to four, but no.
No, I mean, I would race you and you'd beat me and I'd be like,
all right, I'm not playing this anymore. I'm done. I'm sick of it.
I'm getting exposed today, by the way. That's all right. About what?
About getting my ass beat in this racing game. Man, join the crew, bro.
(12:56):
So, as we segue to Gran Turismo 2, which can be played on the PS2 and the PS3,
was released in Japan December 11th of 1999 and released in the States December 23rd of 1999.
And it sold 9.3 million copies and ranks third on the best-selling PS1 game list.
(13:16):
You said PS2? Was it originally a PS2 game?
No, originally a PS1. Okay. I was surprised myself.
I was like, whoa, I can't play this. So those that don't know,
you could play, Brother said that you could play it on the PS2 and PS3.
The only time you can play it on the PS3 if it's the first fat models that came
out. I believe the 60 gigabyte. Yes. With four USB slots.
(13:38):
Mine's two. Yeah. Yeah, something. Two? Yeah. I'm telling you.
It's like. It's not the four USBs? Uh-uh.
I know there's a model with the four USBs though. But it's the two?
But it had to be 60 gigs. I believe it is, yes.
Okay. But yeah, you can play it on the PS3 with that model specifically because
it had the backwards compatibility.
(14:00):
All the others did not. I was shocked when I found that out. I was like, wow.
So sold 9.3 million copies, 1.71 in Japan, 20K in Southeast Asia,
3.96 in North America, 3.68 in Europe.
It's not bad. No. A lot of people like cars around here. Yes.
GT2 did feature 650 cars. That one.
(14:23):
Wow. 53 different manufacturers, and now we have 27 tracks, and we are introduced to rally racing.
Rally racing fans. Nope. Wait, you're rally racing in GT2? All right, of course, Nate.
Anything with a motor, I'm racing it, no.
This time we do get real tracks. You know, we get Laguna Seca.
(14:44):
They do get a... Boo. I don't know what it is, but boo.
What's wrong with Laguna Seca? Too much dirt. It's a rally course.
Why is there too much dirt? It's a pavement. But they do have a rally section.
They do take part of Pike's Peak course.
I guess they call it from Cove Creek to Devil's Playground. Really?
(15:05):
One tidbit. There's like a data transfer. So
you can carry over the cars that you purchased in the first game over to the
second game yeah i do remember that hearing that yes and then even though i
didn't play the game i remember that yeah you can't hear nate but he is fascinated
by that tidbit there and you can import the license i think it was only for uh bna license tests,
(15:28):
that's all you needed did you they didn't
have super license yet did they no just bna still yes
and they did bring the license test back that's what
it was i couldn't get out of the the license stage that's that's why i stopped playing
that motherfucker it's that serious for you it's that
serious man that's all we will play you know
this yeah go big or go home and i definitely was
(15:48):
going home for sure you cannot achieve 100 in the game because they were supposed
to have drag racing in the game but they decided to cut it last minute interesting
very interesting thing actually but the reason why gt2 is important to me because
nate taught me how to break,
and two yeah he did that he did that i was one of those that would that would
(16:13):
drive down the inside slam on the brakes and turn nate was like no we don't do that here.
So he was the one that taught me how to turn and nate taught you that he did in two,
Nate pulled a Shaq. He pulled a Shaq. He's like, we don't go around turns like that. Pretty much.
(16:33):
Nate taught you that. And Nate is like, Nate's the GOAT, bro. Yeah.
Grant's really my mentor. No, I'm not.
A little louder, sir. We couldn't hear you. From what I hear, I heard some stories.
So Nate, skip one, taught you how to play two. Correct.
(16:54):
Yeah. Yeah, that's why I don't play with y'all no more.
The thing I like about 2 is it forced you to pay attention.
Because in the 1 now, in 7, we have the perfect line indicator and whatnot. And it gets red.
(17:19):
Oh, yeah, you're right. In 2, it didn't have that. You got the downshift indicator
that tells you what gear.
The suggested gear for that time. Yeah, the suggested gear. You don't have to.
I didn't. But to slow down, that's all you needed to know to slow down.
(17:39):
So did it, I mean, wasn't the indicator like a black line though?
Like if it was realistically like cars driving?
Or was it a different game I'm thinking of? That's a different game. Okay.
Yeah. And this, it just- Once you started getting to your breaking point,
a red number would come up, like third gear or second gear.
(18:00):
And then the deeper you go in, it starts to flash.
So when it flashes, that means you're supposed to be there? You're going too fast.
You're going too fast. I'll tell you the suggested gear for that turn.
Pay attention. Jerry, we're going over!
Pay attention. Nate just dropped some jewels. Pay attention.
So to all you GT fans out there. Pay attention. Pay attention.
(18:23):
And so I don't know if Nate remembers, but we would all go over there and play Gran Turismo.
And then I don't know how it started, but we started writing down,
I guess, how much money we were making. Because I guess we only use one memory card.
Nate had all this money, but we were like, let's just race, do something on
(18:46):
cars. I don't know. Do you remember what we were doing? Yeah.
So we basically picked a car to build.
We basically, each person would race for their money to put in that car.
So let's say we had like 10 mil. I do a race and it was two mil.
Now I got two mil to play with.
(19:07):
Then to race three mil. He has three mil to play with.
And that's how we did it. that's right because we couldn't yeah there were no
online lobbies just yet right what yeah y'all did this yeah that's why i don't play but y'all.
(19:28):
But it was fun. I forget how long we did it for. I don't know.
Maybe a couple months. But yeah.
Nate, you have a favorite GT2 track?
I can't remember it, but it was like a jungly. It's a street track. It was kind of jungly.
Street track, jungly. Yeah. And my memory from that game isn't a lot of people
(19:53):
say, oh, that's where they got introduced to the skyline.
And no, my memory, my car from memory from that game was the,
you remember that racing civic with the four door civic with all the colors
on it. It was like white, green.
Yeah. Yeah. Red. Was it the HKS one?
I don't know. It might've been, but it's a racing four door. Yeah.
(20:21):
That's my memory. That's the car. I remember from that name that and the silhouette. R31. Oh, okay.
My favorite track is Midfield. I wish they would bring it back.
Yes. I forgot. I think in five, Nate whooped my behind in Midfield.
They didn't have it in five. Did they?
(20:43):
They had brought it back in one of them. Either four or five.
I think it was four. I guess. We'll see. I think.
I believe in our circle. We all love Midfield. Yes. And they need to bring it back. They do.
Grand Tismo, bring back midfield, goddammit. Bring it back.
(21:04):
Let's see, what other memory do I have? Another memory I have,
we booted up the game. It was at Nate's house. And he was in the Jaguar.
The one in the JC video. Is it XJR? Yeah, it is. Because he said he told me
he liked that one. Yeah, it is.
I don't know if we're... I think we're at the test track. I just remember hitting
(21:24):
the gas and it was doing a wheelie.
Did I game shark that? Yeah, you did. I don't know.
But back to Trex, they do have a couple street courses that are fictional,
but they use real-world locations like Rome and then Seattle.
Yeah, I remember those, yeah. Seattle, yeah.
(21:48):
And I guess Grindwall, it's a real location in Switzerland.
Any other GT2 stories? Anything else? Is that where the Pikes Peak was?
Pikes Peak? Yeah. Yes, sir. Yeah, in GTE2. Yeah, the endurance races, right?
Yes. I remember falling asleep to those all the time.
(22:09):
I remember being in the room. I'm able to get in his room today?
Yes. Yes. Not Nate. Not Nate. And then late.
Yeah. And I would watch this man sit here and maybe go like 30, 40 laps manual.
Yeah, it's crazy to think how long we would do them. Yeah. Yeah,
and then put that thing on auto and just let it go.
(22:31):
Speaking of, did that come? I thought that was three. Three?
Three, that might have been it. But I remember he would still do endurance races.
Even in two. I remember he did endurance races on two. But those were manual.
All of them? My God, yes. Oh. 24-hour races, 12-hour races, 10-hour.
Six yeah i was surprised when i didn't drop that 24 hour race i was kind of what,
(22:57):
did you do it yes yeah you did it yeah well you could pause the game and save
oh so it wasn't okay i got you so you can have the option you can pause it and
you know how we did with most games just leave it on come back later we had
no memory card for the longest time,
no memory card i know a lot of people out there know that struggle yes then
(23:18):
mom and dad look why is this game on turn it off and it's like oh my god my
progress right fuck my progress.
That'd be terrible hurt your soul every time let me take a sip of blue moon
for all the times i lost progress so now we're a gran turismo 3a spec released
(23:40):
on the ps2 released in japan on april 28th 2001 and it made its way to the states july 10th 2001
so what does a spec mean i guess they
tried to break it up a spec b spec a spec was like the manual mode this did
not come over until four but a spec was supposed to be like u drive and b spec
(24:02):
would be like computer drive okay they were gonna have two versions but b spec
didn't work out and and it ended up becoming GT4.
Mm-hmm. Okay, makes sense.
GT3 sold 14.89 million. And million.
It's the highest-selling GT game so far. Ranked second on the best-selling PS2 game. Three?
(24:25):
Yes. Mm-hmm. Thanks, Nate. God, no. Nate bought six more copies of GT.
Yay, Dave. Of the GTA Gran Turismo 3.
Thanks, Mega Shake. rank second with
best selling ps2 game just behind grand theft auto
san andreas make sure you check out that episode yes
we just dropped that not too long ago 1.9 million
(24:47):
sold in asia 5.85 million sold in europe and 7.14 sold in north america in north
america yeah a lot of people like gt3 it's 2001 no it was kind of the height
of racing at that time really yeah it was Even with NASCAR, it was big.
Cross the Pond. Did they call it IMSA then? What did they call it? What?
(25:11):
They called it something else. IMSA? What? The Endurance Series?
Talk about the F1 Series? Well, they had F1, but whatever IMSA is now.
I just remember it being called WeatherTech. But I think it had a different
name before then, around that time.
Yeah, now it's World Endurance Series. World Endurance. Yeah,
like you said, Fast and Furious was coming out at that time. Mm-hmm.
(25:35):
2001, wasn't it Too Fast, Too Furious came out then? Or was that the year after?
Oh, you're talking about that trash, the one in Miami?
Fire him up. It's okay. What's wrong with Too Fast, Too Furious? The one in Miami?
I think that's it. It doesn't even go with the storyline, but we're getting
off topic. I mean, we're talking about Fast and Furious here.
(25:56):
Those are y'all's. I mean, Tokyo Drift was where it was at. Thank you.
Thank you, Tokyo Drift. Tokyo Drift was where it was at.
Thank you. I wonder if you know. Oh, man, man, Tokyo. And you see me in your
movie and you know you have to go.
I am not making fun. I am actually singing the song. I like that.
I've seen that movie the first week it came out. Actually, it was like 20 times.
(26:20):
We actually saw it at work just yesterday.
Thing comes on like every other day at work. It does. Wow. It's a great movie.
It is a great movie. so gt3 features
180 cars a big downfall
from the what 650 we got in two but yeah
they are on a new platform 40 47
(26:41):
different manufacturers third beer boys and girls
and 19 tracks to race on they bring
back laguna seca and then we also get
monaco but they i guess didn't
have the license to use that name so they use cote diazor
yeah cote diazor yeah
or cote because it had the yeah yeah
(27:03):
yeah cote yeah that sounds that sounds better gt3 does
feature f1 cars rome and seattle make a return tokyo r246 course is a real location
it is located in the shibuya district of tokyo oh and use the r246 and i guess expressway number four.
(27:25):
Shibuya don't do that nate you already knew that you you
helped design the game bro so we're not
able to transfer any data because ps1 and ps2 memory
cards were different qualifying was still in the game six
cars on each track when you race was online then at that time not yet no online
(27:46):
capabilities yet but they were working towards that maybe maybe not over here
but maybe in japan does that mean Japan has GT4 Prologue,
that's when they started testing out the online capabilities,
we won't talk about that game because it wasn't released in the states GT4?
GT4 Prologue because it was only released in Japan didn't you have that at one point?
(28:11):
GT5 Prologue and we also won't be talking about the HD concept either because
that was released in Japan only okay well Well, I do have a question.
So what is, that's basically a game that was just HD?
I don't think so. It was more of probably just like a demo game.
(28:32):
Just like GTA 5 Prologue is.
So I don't even know, I don't even know Prologue were even demos or I guess,
what do you call it? Just like prequels. Yeah.
Just like Ground Zeroes. Yeah, okay. They were like, hey, let's see if this works.
And Tech Demo, I guess they call them. Yeah, it's an easy way to...
(28:55):
Not market, but to test the market to see if we still love the game.
Okay. Because it doesn't give you everything, but it does give you enough to
want to go and grab the actual, like you were saying, GT5.
Well, I mean, I guess they were making enough money that they could do that.
Yeah. Absolutely. Yeah.
So, funny enough, I mean, since I'm basically not in this episode.
(29:17):
You are. You're a top contributor. I'm a top contributor? Yes. And 0.01%.
But i will say this though fun fact when
we get to this episode pretty sure we're going to do a mega man episode at some
point yeah we'll have to mega man is great by the way i know it's gt gt but
(29:38):
since you added you were talking about the prologue for four and five mega man
legends they had something that was uh they had mega man legends and they had mega
man legends 2 but mega man
legends 2 kind of started off in a really weird spot
at the beginning of the game kind of didn't know what was going on
it did stem from the first one because it is a sequel however
(30:01):
there is a gap in between that a lot of people don't know about and there was
a demo disc in i think what what was what was that playstation magazine that
you got that got to get demos i think it was just called playstation magazine
there was a demo disc specifically for For Mega Man Legends 2.
And it was called Mega Man Dash. Mega Man Dash 2 something. Right.
(30:26):
And then Mega Man Legends 2 was Mega Man Dash 2.
So the demo actually had the first part of the story for Mega Man Legends 2.
And then you played the rest of it in the actual disc.
Wonder why they. Well. Maybe it was a practice that was going on at the time.
(30:46):
That people. So this is about 2000s?
Yeah. Alright, so suits are starting to take over video game companies.
So, yeah. Any Mega Man lovers out there, there you go. Brian.
Yeah, we'll definitely have to bring him for that one. I mean,
all right. We'll talk about it later. Yeah, later.
(31:08):
Sorry, I just had to get that out there. It was a great segue.
Let's get into it. So GT3, besides endurance races, I mean, no,
it's pretty much straightforward.
There's no online capabilities yet.
Again, my favorite track is midfield. You said you didn't play 3,
(31:31):
Daryl? I didn't play 3. I know Nate destroyed it.
What good stories you got for 3? 3?
Look at him thinking. No real stories.
I felt like 3 was just, because I like cars, so it was just a grind.
Yeah. To. This was the first game on the PS3, and the car total kind of,
(31:55):
I'm sure, disappointed a lot of people. Yes.
I was like, huh? And then you have like 60 of the cars being,
what, Mazda, Nissan, Honda.
But they made it work. Yeah, they did.
Yeah. Three was fun, but no other than this. Mm-mm. Get to the good one. Get to the good one.
(32:18):
So now we're going to talk about Gran Turismo 4. Yes, sir. It came on the PS2.
Yes, sir. This game was supposed to come out in 2003, but it was pushed back.
Sony stated that it was due to localization problems. I guess they couldn't
get the language correct for the game and for other... What type of language
are we talking? Was this supposed to be expanded?
(32:39):
Well, the language is, as far as putting it, I don't know, French, Chinese.
Previous games were like that or no? Yes. I know Japanese games were.
The text and everything. But that's what they're claiming. It could have been
something else, but... I mean... It's just what they're, the excuse that they're using.
This is for, is this still on PS3? PS2. PS2?
(33:01):
Mm-hmm. I don't know about all that, man.
Now see, you ain't gonna get my 10-4 hat on here. And I'm three beers in,
you know? I'm slowing down, everybody.
So, 4 was supposed to feature an online mode, but it was removed later.
This is how I ended up with two PS2s and two Grand Turismo 4 copies.
You didn't game that much. Wait, what?
(33:23):
What how it ended up with two ps2s and
two copies i think i vaguely remember this i think
i vaguely remember this well at this time you know halo was around the
land party thing land parties yes they
said you could hook them up by landline or land ethernet cord but it didn't
work for me i didn't figure it out you had to get two of them i did i think
(33:46):
why did i get one of those you ain't special huh no i'm not you're right and
i'm his brother you're right i'm not i'm not i don't know what happened.
He said, I don't know what happened. You know what happened.
Is that the one you broke? Or did you break the PS1? That was the PS1. Okay. Okay.
If we're going to get into that story. See?
We're going to get into that. Let it all out. So, first off,
(34:07):
it wasn't, okay, it was my fault.
It was my fault. Because I remember you would always say, stop putting your
feet on the entertainment system.
Oh, yeah. And Eric had model cars at the time. I put them on top of the TV.
Yeah. He built model cars. Partially my fault.
No, because they were up there before I even was doing it.
That so you didn't learn we would we would sit in
(34:28):
this room and you know we put our feet on the entertainment system because it
was comfy and just less stress on your back and
i remember i put my feet up there a
little too hard and i remember a blue dodge viper with white stripes i remember
falling down do you remember that dodge viper okay so a blue dodge viper came
(34:50):
falling down like a missile from the heavens i think it was a metal die cast
it was it was it was pretty heavy,
and what what i think you were playing,
and we're in the middle of a race and all of a sudden you hear and it stopped working.
(35:13):
Yeah i felt so bad you had no
idea no yes i did yes i did because first off
i couldn't play games after that now and secondly it
was his playstation it was his brand new it was the mini right it was the model
3 the mini one okay it was the model 3 yeah yeah he just he had just gotten
it not too long ago either not too long ago i i broke it i sucked done i sucked i'm a terrible person,
(35:41):
gt4 was released in japan december 28th 2004 and released in north america february 22nd 2005 2005.
Ranks third on the best-selling PS2
games. And do you know what the fourth best-selling game on the PS2 was?
Grand Dismal 4. Oh, Grand Theft Auto. Oh, 4? Check out the episode.
(36:01):
Grand Theft Auto Vice City. No, Vice City was good. But yeah, check that out.
Dang. Sold 11.76 million copies worldwide.
1.45 went to Asia. 6.83 went to Europe. And 3.47 went to North America.
Sounds like the numbers are going down a little bit. In North America.
(36:21):
In North America, yeah. Yeah. But they're picking up in Europe,
which is, I was kind of surprised. Yeah. I was like, holy cow.
You know, a lot of people say this is the best game in the franchise.
Four? Yeah. Would you agree? Four. Four.
A lot of people like this one. Hmm. How many cars were in it for?
Featuring over 721 cars from 80 different manufacturers, 51 tracks to choose
(36:47):
from, and that includes dirt and snow tracks.
Is this the one that introduced tuning companies?
They always had tuning companies in there. Like, they always had them.
So, I see what you're saying. and like
one and two you would go to that
one screen and by the parts but yes then me and tuning companies as far as having
(37:11):
like the hks s15 sylvia the blitz r34 yeah yeah yeah i see why for yeah i agree.
I didn't like Blitz, though. I mean, no disrespect to Blitz,
but I ain't like Blitz. I think Nate did.
(37:32):
I mean, yeah, you know. No, Nate was like, Blitz is the shit.
It was like picking your favorite team, you know.
Oh, I like this company. Let me show them off in this game.
HKS is my favorite. No, it wasn't. It was Blitz. Do they even still exist today? Who? Blitz?
HKS? I see it on 7, like, for the decals, but I don't know if they...
(37:54):
Oh, okay. I shouldn't be.
Sometimes they're diversion companies. Okay. Like, trust is a part of HKS.
I gotcha. So.
So, the GT4. Now we get the A-spec mode.
Then we get the B-spec mode. Yeah. Which is kind of like, I guess you can call
the crew chief. Mm-hmm. You know, tell the driver.
(38:16):
What to do. Yeah. Slow down, pit.
I like that. You like that? Yeah. That's a nice little addition.
Especially helps with the 24 hour because wasn't it
24 hour in this one yes yep for both yeah so
you had to do it manually and b-spec yeah that was for split yeah so you had
to do a 24 hour for a-spec mode and not 24 for b-spec mode i don't remember
(38:39):
that yeah i remember that yeah you could do it either way you're gonna have
to show me i don't pull it out we'll look maybe i I did it all myself.
In GT4, we are introduced into photo mode. Four? Mm-hmm. We could take photos in four.
I think I remember that. This guy.
(39:02):
And qualifying has been removed from the game. So now we just start in the back
and get our artificial difficulty that way.
Starting to bet. Yeah. I mean, you only had to pass five cards. I like a challenge.
Don't you start don't put me in 30th i'll get first place in one lap i mean yeah like three,
(39:27):
so we do have our fantasy tracks we do have more real world tracks sarf is introduced
do we have watkins glen yet no watkins glen yet,
monaco is back we should have that fuji's in
the game and finion raceway or now it
goes by sonoma raceway nate's favorite laguna sega nurburg ring has finally
(39:54):
made it yes i love that suzuka yes sakuba and twin ring motiki oh yes yeah that
was his motiki and then fuji was his too.
Sorry, flashbacks. It's okay. It's all right. A few secrets.
You could get like a all black car, I guess, out of the dealership.
(40:18):
The prototype. Yeah, you can. Yep.
But you can only get them through select number of days, between days, end game days.
694 and 700. So you had to be on the lookout. Wow.
And this is where you could change your oil change and get HP boost, horsepower boost.
So was this the one that had the track that spiraled oh it's not apricot,
(40:47):
remember the one i'm talking about i remember the name well i don't remember
the name i remember know the track you're talking about yeah but we'll have
to look it up but yeah if it's not in four it's definitely in five okay because
i think that's where my nightmare started that's where your nightmare started.
Yeah. You ain't never had a nightmare in this game.
(41:09):
So, we're almost at five. We're at four. Nate, do you have a favorite track in four? Fuji.
Midfield. Same here. Fuji. Midfield did receive an upgrade in four.
Little chicane thing. It made it a little more... Promounced.
Yeah. So, you actually did have to slow down. You couldn't just drive right through.
(41:29):
If you didn't tune it correctly, yes. I'm sorry. See what I'm saying?
See what I'm saying? Man, turn to the legend over here.
Well, hey, just before we go forward, I'm drunk. All right. Continue. Yes.
Just FYI. You played four? Yeah, I played four. This is why I introduced.
Favorite track? Yeah, man. Share stories. What you got? Shoot.
(41:53):
Nate used to clown me on midfield. He was like, you're not ready for this,
bro. If you didn't play this, you're just not ready.
And then there was another one. I think it was, it was Fuji.
Like Nate just totally destroyed me.
Well, what about any time that you destroyed Nate?
(42:15):
I never had the opportunity. I'm glad you asked that question.
I mean, I was close. I was very close.
And then he told me that he had the wrong tires on. And then that was a wrap. You know, it's funny.
It's funny that you say that because I had a high school teammate I played football
with, right? This is apples and oranges, but it's in the same category, so hear me out.
(42:38):
I had a high school teammate that I played football with, also ran track.
Do you guys remember Xavier Carter?
Yeah. High school football slash track star over at Palm Bay.
Our fastest guy over where I went to high school at raced him.
Xavier Carter beat him in untied Jordans.
(43:04):
Untied jordans that yeah you got a heavy shoe that's not tight that sounds just
like nate nate would do some stuff like that nate would do some stuff like that,
nate would take a stock car have the wrong tires on it and defeat everybody,
so that's the urban legend so just so you know urban legend ain't no urban legend here,
(43:25):
he would say i just bought this car i'm testing it out right i just want to
see if it goes that's never happened,
You heard it here first. I like the modesty. No, because he did that. He did that.
What about a successful time you played GT4?
(43:49):
Nate and I, he had an R34 and I had an R34.
So I believe yours is red. I believe it was red and mine was white.
And we were racing one time and I thought I could just want to have it.
I swore I had it because I was like right up on him. He was like, I got you.
Yeah. Because I did the same thing you were talking about. I broke too hard.
(44:12):
Because I was right up on him.
And he was like, too soon, Junior.
You need to go back to the drawing board.
That's not even successful. I said a successful time. That's the closest I got.
I'm not even talking about Nate anymore.
I'm talking about the game itself now. Man, I had to do a hard break.
(44:33):
Because I was like, he got me. He got me.
And then, no, there was one time. I'll give you one time. There was one time.
Yeah, at band camp, right? So I raced Nate. It was the only race that I think
I've won in history, right?
The only one. He took it, like I said, this is Nate.
So he took, I guess, a Lamborghini or something like that.
(44:54):
He had Lamborghini and he had
like a comfort soft tires on
it or something like something astronomically crazy
right and then i had the ferrari and
we're still talking about four right yes okay i had the
i can't i forgot what the one was but i had
beat him so bad but this is what nate was saying he was like hey did you ever
(45:16):
look up at the clock i was getting you around the corners i don't care how fast
you were going i was getting you around the corner didn't you see the time just
degrees every time i went around the corner that's because Because your Ferrari
is so powerful that it doesn't break in the corner.
So I'm trying to teach you a lesson here. Just pay attention. Just pay attention.
(45:38):
You was up 10 seconds. Now you're down to five. Pay attention.
That's never happened.
Never happened? That was the only one. That was the only one. Oh, my God.
Oh. That was the only one. Well, I guess if it wasn't recorded, it never happened.
That's what I'm saying like he psychologically like defeated me like he would
(46:03):
do stuff like that like are we still in four or five we're still in four we're still in four,
we're still in four we'll make it to five six seven I was mentally outside of
the podcast for a bit but yeah we're still in four,
shortly after that I showed the Ferrari I was like I'm done I'm done to rap.
(46:26):
So now we're on to Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. Prologue. The lovely tech demo, I guess you can call it.
It sold 5.35 million. 10 million!
Ranks eighth on the all-time PS3 games sold.
Asia bought 860,000 copies. Europe, 3.5 million. North America, 1.34 million.
(46:51):
Numbers are going down over here. Yeah, that's what I was saying.
It seems like it just they keep going down okay released in japan on december 13th 2007,
then released in north america on april 15th of 2008 so all right well i mean
so far we're on the fifth one so working towards the fifth well i guess you
can call it the fifth yeah so this is the prologue right we're doing the prologue
(47:13):
and so we had mentioned that this was a demo,
yeah essentially that's how i feel like every time i boot it up like it's just
a feeler that's all Yeah, because it couldn't even get too far in the game. Yeah.
How many cars could you get in the prologue? This one introduced the Amuse S2000.
(47:36):
Because I remember my brother playing it, using that car. He finally was able to get that car.
The Honda? Mm-hmm. S2000? Yeah.
I mean, how good was that car to begin with? I mean, just in real life.
Okay. He gave me a face on. He just told me. He was like, he was like,
Hey, if you ask me that question one more time, I'm going to slap you. It's a body machine.
(48:01):
Make you want to slap your mama.
Talk about the S2000 one more time. Tastes so good. I'm not a Honda fan.
You know, neither am I. Neither am I. But you see lots of them on the road now.
Well, the souped up ones, anyway.
The souped up ones. You don't see, remember back in the day?
Don't follow me. They had a Honda Civic or an Accord.
(48:23):
Somebody had some type of, put your hand down. Had an Accord.
But you souped it up and everything like that? Yeah, he loved that thing.
He loved Pikachu more, though.
That wasn't my car. I know, and you're like, that Pikachu is mine.
That's my brother's car. Let me get it in a minute.
So you like Charizard then? No?
Blastoise. Oh, he was a Blastus. He was a Blastus fan. It's all right. It's all right.
(48:48):
It's okay. Yeah, he was like, they need to put a box Chevy in the game.
Box Chevy. I've never said that.
A box Chevy. I was never, you know, speaking of Blastoise, I was never really a Pokemon guy.
I never was so at this table yeah of course of course so i do were you were
(49:08):
you into pokemons no okay confession what's your yeah let's do this let's do
this please remember let's do this because the parents letting us go to a movie
motherfucker and you don't know how upset i was,
finish finish the story and i'll i'll say my side go ahead and go ahead i don't
know i guess i was like a closet pokemon fan i'm so upset just even fucking
(49:32):
thinking about this and i was like i think rela wants to see it.
All right. He's, all right. Let me pick this up. Let me pick this up.
So the both of them wanted to go see the Pokemon movie that came out in 2000,
right? As now I've gotten older, that was a pretty good movie.
That was a pretty good movie. Yeah. I thought it was. But then I didn't want to see it.
(49:52):
I wanted to see something else. I don't know what was coming out at that time,
but I wanted to see something else. Either that or I just didn't want to go,
period. Right. And what happened?
We went to Pokemon. We all went to go see Pokemon.
Mom was like, Madre was like, you know what?
No you're going with your brothers and you're spending time and you're gonna go see it,
i don't all right listeners out there i don't know how you how how how you can
(50:16):
understand how hot i fucking was because i was not the pokemon guy i was not
i'm not saying pokemon is bad by any means it's just something i just i just
didn't get into i love anime i have i have an anime tattoo god God forbid.
But he tricked you. No, he didn't trick me. No, I straight up said.
Oh, you said Rhi. You said Rhi wanted to see. I said Rilan wanted to see.
(50:39):
But yeah, I deep down wanted to see it.
So Rhi wanted to see it. He was just going to be the fake chaperone.
The fake chaperone. And then, you know what?
The story unfolds and I'm getting so angry just fucking thinking about this.
And again, three beers in. So, I mean, come on.
(51:01):
Come on brother come on brother i love you but damn it why would you do that
to me i wanted to see it i mean i want to see what the hype was about i was
curious well i mean yeah now that,
because i remember it was a couple years ago me and a couple buddies were talking about it i'd,
remember i don't remember all of it but i do remember some bits of it and i'm
like you know what it wasn't that bad of a movie it really wasn't right so you're
(51:24):
doing all that complaining and you know no no i am complaining because i didn't
want to see it in the first place Like, I see what you're saying, Eric.
He wanted to see it deep down inside too. You know what?
Daryl, I don't like you already. God damn it.
God dang it. That was a good call on that movie, man. I thought so too.
Again, I'm being patronized, and I don't appreciate any of this right now. That was a good call.
(51:48):
But back to Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. Yes, Blastoise. We had 76 cars. 76?
Yeah, they really... Man, it was just a demo. I mean, that's still a lot of
cars for a demo. Yeah. Yeah. That's trash. I think.
I mean, yeah, because you're kind of expecting something else,
and they drop like this tech demo. Yeah. Like, what is this?
(52:09):
Did you get the demo, Nick?
No. they say i ain't playing with that
my brother had it so i used
it on his and you're like man that's the shit trash so yeah they were playing
with things because with gt5 prologue they did have servers did allow online
gameplay um four tracks two different layouts suzuka suzuka circuit East.
(52:36):
Then we get Daytona!
Nate's favorite track.
I will say, I'm kind of biased, but that is my favorite track. It's a nice facility.
The showers are really nice, too. I said the showers are really nice.
Well, I mean, they have brick. What? Continue.
(53:00):
Three beers in, boys and girls. but
they had london yeah they
had it was a fake track but they use the location i
remember that london track yes i
remember that one yeah but yeah prologue wasn't my favorite it wasn't your favorite
no you can it was a teaser that's all just throw it away let's let's get into
(53:24):
the meat and potatoes and bring out five all right we're almost there before
that we got gran turismo on the PSP.
It leads to October 1st, 2009.
Gran Turismo on PSP sold 4.67 million units worldwide.
Ranks third on the best-selling PSP list. Nice.
(53:44):
Do you want to know which game holds the top spot? Need for Speed. No.
It's PSP now. Oh, Grand Theft Auto. Correct. Oh, my gosh. Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories.
That's a good game. Yeah. That's a good game, actually. It's a high game.
We get 45 different tracks, and we get 833 vehicles.
(54:06):
833 on PSP? On PSP. I need to go buy one. First off, I didn't even know there
was a Gran Turismo on PSP. Mm-hmm.
Shows how much I paid attention to that thing. Yeah. You know,
it's PSP. Trying to get into the handheld world.
I picked up a copy. I bet you did.
Pulled it out, played it, and now we have the PlayStation Portal now.
(54:27):
Mm-hmm. I got one. You got one? I don't even use it.
Well, why don't you use it? I don't know.
It's there. Yeah. I mean, I'll use it when... You know what?
I used it when I was playing Persona 3.
We're going to do one on Persona 2, boys and girls. So, just so you know. Just so you know.
You heard it here first. All right, Daryl. We're at Gran Turismo 5.
(54:49):
All right, here we go. We finally made it. Here we go. We made it.
Mama, we made it. Hey. Red balls.
This is where Nate started destroying everything that was moving.
So Gran Turismo 5, released on the PS3, released in the States November 24th,
(55:10):
2010, just before Thanksgiving, and then a day later in Japan.
Sold 11.94 million copies ranked second on the all-time ps3 games sold wow do
you guys want to know the best-selling ps3 game if you say a grand theft auto
ps3 gta 4 yes well yes yeah gta 5 yes.
(55:37):
GTA 4 was so much better though they're both GT games correct,
so Asia you see 2 million or sold 2 million copies of Grand Turismo 5 North
America 4.78 and Europe 10.53 damn yeah I don't know what's happening in Europe but they
(55:57):
get better features in Europe that's why they be selling out like they built
it yeah 10.53 million yeah their platforms are different
but yeah we do finally get online
racing and we finally get 1089
cars 1089 okay 1089
car i got you got me yeah sure no not really but i got you this is when uh dlc
(56:23):
was introduced to the gran turismo series you can download cars we get 99 different
manufacturers ferrari Lamborghini and Bugatti.
Finally make an appearance I think this is McLaren's first appearance in a game
as well now they did this weird thing where they had premium and standard cars,
(56:46):
standard was no interior we went to the cockpit view premium had detail detailed,
we had 81 different track layouts,
does anyone remember Dunsford AeroDome? I do.
What do you remember? I remember that this is where Nissan General was created.
(57:11):
That's the track that they use for a TV show test track.
The British Top Gear. That's what I'm saying. Oh, Top Gear. Yeah.
That's what I just said. This is where Nissan General was created.
I ain't lying to you. Hey, 5U is a beast.
We do get, you know, real world tracks again. Nürburgring, Sarath, Sakuba, Laguna Seca.
(57:35):
We do get Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Monza.
I did like Monza. So I do like Monza. I like Indianapolis.
Oh, we do get a track editor.
Oh, yeah. I remember that. So you had a list of options. I guess you could scroll
through and create your track. This is GT5?
Yes, it was. I see two of you. So that's why I just needed to see.
(57:58):
I just wanted to make sure we're in the right spot. We're in GT5.
That's classic. I think I have a picture out there on Facebook.
It's with Nate and Daryl. Don't do that. Don't do that.
In our cars? Do it. don't do that three of us three of us yeah why you do that,
let's see I know I had the GTR I don't know who else had the GTR Nate I think the other one is,
(58:25):
is it cause I tried to be different so I know yeah I know I ain't get same thing
Nate did cause Nate was like,
man you bring whatever you want to bro going down or the way yeah you bring
whatever you want to I've never said that,
probably got the Lotus Evora or something like that.
(58:46):
I don't know if the Evora was out. That might have been.
I'm just saying, like, they just killed the game.
So still only eight cars on the track.
Kind of, I don't know. I figured by that time they would figure it out how to
have more cars raced against.
Yeah. But either way, you got your license test again. Every game features that.
(59:12):
Absolutely. I don't really have a favorite track. I mean, if I did,
it'd probably be Daytona.
Daytona? Yeah. I think in four and five, Nürburgring was mine.
Nürburgring? Yeah. Yeah. George likes Nürburgring. Yes, he does.
I don't know what track I really liked in five.
(59:35):
I'd have to look at the lists. But yeah. Yeah.
I mean, if anything, what I did like about 5 was the room that you created.
If the host left the room, it gave it to another person. Yes.
And it didn't close the room, looking at you, GT7.
(59:56):
Yeah. Y'all heard that laugh. Y'all heard that, right? Y'all heard that.
Y'all caught that, right?
Sinister. That's what I'm saying. Man, my memory from five before Daryl messes it up.
Speak of peace. I think five had that track that spiraled up and then it went
(01:00:23):
downhill and you kind of popped a little wheelie. Yes.
And went down. It was, I specifically remember racing you and Daryl there.
I'm sure we raced there a lot. Y'all had Lamborghini Aventadors.
Here we go. Here we go. And I had the Murcielago. Oh, my gosh.
(01:00:47):
And I lost. No, you didn't. Yes, I did. No, you didn't. Yes, I did.
I lost and I left for like two months. That was not us. That was not us.
And he said, I got to go back in the gym. No, I was untouchable. Don't fall for that.
Don't fall for that was O'Neal O'Neal beat
(01:01:09):
him so bad that he was like no the car spun out I couldn't get a proper handle
on the car so I was dead last I remember you were mad but I don't think you
like took a hiatus yes I did no it wasn't for much at least two weeks to a month and a half cause I,
didn't know what everything was so I drove.
(01:01:34):
All All setups of cars, all-wheel drive, mid-engine, front-wheel drive,
rear-wheel drive, to try and understand what likes what.
Yeah. And massage it a little after that per car.
And yeah, I came back. It wasn't us. It was O'Neal.
(01:01:58):
O'Neal beat you so bad. Was O'Neal playing Gran Turismo at the time?
Yeah. Yeah. Oh. I don't remember that. It wasn't us. I mean,
we started it. Yeah, he's right.
We started it. But O'Neal had beat him so bad that he was like,
man, fuck this game, bro.
It was. I know it was. It might have been all four of us. Right.
(01:02:18):
But it wasn't us, though. No, the thing of the whole thing is I lost.
I don't care who came in first.
That's why I say that's where Nissan General was originated.
Because when he took that break, bro, ain't nobody pay attention.
(01:02:39):
Nobody yeah we came when he came
back it was like everything that we did to win
he's like you're doing it wrong let me
show you how to do this boy he did and he was calling everybody
out he was like you got too much power you're breaking too
hard you need to work light yeah your car
(01:02:59):
is too light he was like what that's too much shit for a car i just need to
get from point to point b that's it now he's it he came back with vengeance
and then when he was when he started winning he was talking shit oh i have the
wrong tires on you you guys don't know how to tune your cars,
i'll teach you just and isn't five where
(01:03:22):
we could send each other the cars and y'all was like you need
to do this you have too much i believe so yeah we could uh yeah
we could go back and for i never sent my
car to nate not one time never because
nate would bring that shit back like yo bro this is trash if i
was you i would sell it right now like get your money back for it bro why would
(01:03:44):
i say that because you didn't get fixed you said the car was too far gone i
forgot got which one i still want some of them are because you can't undo weight reduction yeah and,
you gotta buy a whole new car yeah people strip them you daryl strip them down to nothing.
(01:04:07):
And then shove everything.
That's what he said he's like daryl you gotta do much
about it the test ring yeah that's it and then on one of them i remember we
were racing one time right we were racing one time and he was like yeah let
daryl get it first because we know he's gonna accelerate off the line but once
(01:04:30):
that corner comes we're gone and it was like that's how it was every single time you'd be like,
you're packing too much power in there it's cars trash hey then i remember you
would tell you like all right eric let's just wait till he just crashes out
let's just go So we're almost there. That's never happened.
(01:04:53):
We're almost there. Anything else for Gran Turismo 5? Pretty much straightforward.
Did that one introduce nitrous? No. I think 6 did. Was it 6?
I don't know. I didn't look that one up. Because I remember racing at midfield.
(01:05:14):
Yeah. With nitrous? With nitrous.
We would come over that last crest. Before the start-finish line. Yeah.
Take off. At the top of the hill. No, smoke the tires all the way down to the finish line.
See, that stuff. See, that's why. See, you know about that. I ain't know nothing about that.
(01:05:36):
Maybe that was six. Nah, see.
That's why I don't race you no more. I told you he's psychologically,
no, because he's psychologically like destroyed you. Destroyed you, broke you down.
That was influence. No, it wasn't. No, it wasn't. It was now influence and motivation.
It's all in the delivery. It's all in the delivery.
(01:05:59):
Yeah, yeah. See, see, that's what I'm talking about right there, to get good.
I remember one time, and this, this isn't a knock on you, but I remember one
time, I was, I was, you know, learning a fighting game.
And there was a character I just like really was having a hard time with, right?
And I'm trying to figure out like, what do I need to do? So I consult my fighting
(01:06:19):
game guru, Josh Kelly. Yeah, I'm speaking to you.
Calling you out, dog. And then I'm like, well, what do I do?
He's like, well, just get good, bro.
That's Nate. That's exactly what I got. That is Nate. so
every time something comes up and and i'm
having issues i'll just say oh well but you just told me to
(01:06:40):
get good so that's what i'll just do you know fuck you bro fuck you get kicked
off yeah so that's basically what nate was saying like i mean no no you shake
your head you shake your head right right it's all a delivery it's all in the
delivery i remember that eric and i we used to be mad at the game.
Like, we used to be mad at Nate. I know it was in five.
(01:07:01):
Mm-hmm. Delivery. And then...
Delivery. Then Eric started linking up with Nate. And that's when I was like, what the? You traitor.
I think I do recall that. Yeah, you did. Because there was a point.
I was like, I was frustrated with the game.
Wasn't understanding what was going on. Right.
(01:07:22):
That was after your hiatus. I think I remember talking to him. Yeah.
And then he started linking up with you. And then when I sent him a car,
when I sent Eric a car, Eric was like, oh, this is trash.
You got too much downforce. horse you you need to do this that yeah your suspension
is all messed up look all messed all messed up suspension's all messed up so
(01:07:43):
you better drive brother yeah like.
And then he was like you know i learned a lot from nate and nate was like don't
do this just i'll let me consult with nate real quick that was incentive for you to,
get good. No.
(01:08:04):
Open up and accept. But I think between four and five they flipped the physics.
They did. Really? Yeah. Was that a four or five they flipped the physics or five and six?
It was four because I could pack power into the car. And five I couldn't.
And that's when y'all was like that's when y'all were like man Darryl you trash.
(01:08:28):
You got too much power. We never said that. yes you
did I remember one race I remember I know that's
what you said you're like yeah we know Daryl's gonna accelerate off the line
I remember I remember I do I remember so we're gonna make our way to Gran Turismo
6 alright go ahead we're almost to the favorite your favorite 7 so Gran Turismo
(01:08:49):
6 released worldwide December 6th 2013,
sold 5.06 million copies ranks 9th on the all time PS3 game sold ranks 9th.
Six wasn't that popping. No. Sorry, 750,000 units sold in Japan,
3.23 million sold in Europe, and 1.24 million sold in North America.
(01:09:13):
I mean, we're still in the millions, though. In the millions.
Yeah, but it's not the same.
Six was like, I don't know, it was like an in-between. I don't think I remember Six.
It's a blur, not a popular one. Yeah, it wasn't. So what made it not so popular?
You didn't have the features like you did in N5.
(01:09:34):
Yeah, you'd think they'd carry on a lot of the other stuff. The other stuff that they were doing.
Yeah, they kind of flipped it up. Yeah, they didn't do that.
But we do have 1,279 cars, 111 different manufacturers.
This is a sport, right? Not yet. Or a sport of different. It's a different game.
(01:09:55):
Sport was more geared towards online only.
Yeah, that was kind of like a demo, yeah.
So for 6, this is the first game in the series to not feature a used car dealership.
We do get 33 different tracks with 71 different layouts. You have your license test.
(01:10:15):
But we do get a bunch of good tracks on this one.
Yes, I agree with that one, yeah. The game was kind of blah,
but we get Ascari Race Resort.
Game was hot ass. We get Bronze Hatch, Goodwood Hill Climb, Mount Panorama,
the Red Bull Ring, Nate's Favorite.
(01:10:36):
Doesn't agree thumbs down hate red balls we get
silverstone twin ring motegi's back
we get sarth willow springs fuji daytona
indianapolis nurburgring suzuka sakuba and manza top gear test track yeah yeah
monaco yep so yeah they gave us a bunch of tracks yeah it did it had a lot of
(01:11:02):
nice tracks It was just the layout was just trash for me.
Chorus Maker makes a return. Yeah. Gran Turismo 6. Obviously.
Cell figures show that it was not loved. Nope. I don't remember much of it.
It's kind of like a blur. It was.
Just. Did we? I don't think we even played cells together. I was about to say,
(01:11:26):
did we go back to five to play together?
Yeah, we did. Probably. Probably did. but yeah let's see what was i say 2013
i know the following year we all started playing destiny.
Yeah we're not we're not gonna talk about this nah we're
not gonna talk about that yeah an eight hour
(01:11:46):
eight hour work shift bro an eight hour work
shift and i get no drops not even commons no drops
oh yeah vanilla disc yeah
you want to know something let me let me tell you this
right now let me tell you this i hope that it
burns in the right places at the right times and
if dirk mcgurk lost his shirt i hope
(01:12:08):
he killed it too that's how i put it that put it with that garbage staying in
line sorry i was so upset that's okay all right and we understand standing in
line to pick up six destiny oh destiny stop it i'm glad you stood in line garbage ass fucking game,
no he Nate did that he was like man fuck Gran Turismo bro I'm about to play
(01:12:32):
this Disney I did but it is on sport.
Gran Turismo sport oh yeah he was like nah man fuck that game 6 is nothing to
talk about we'll just make our way to sport Gran Turismo sport which came out
on the PS4 sold 12.977 millions. Mm-hmm.
(01:12:59):
I had water in my mouth. Sorry. 65% of those sales went to Europe.
24% of those sales went to the US. And 11% went to Japan.
Japan don't like the game no more? They love the game. Well, I mean, Japan is...
I would say out of both six and sport, I would say that sport was pretty popular
because being a GameStop worker, a lot of people picked up sport.
(01:13:22):
Yes came out October 17th 2017 in North America and released in Japan October 19th 2017 eh,
stayed away from this game it was the online only only thing that and they well
not online but still playing at disney they were just playing it and he's like
(01:13:42):
man fuck their game i got sport,
and immediately uninstalled it wasn't that bad yeah so was it a continuation
of six but then and people cheating or what? Oh, man.
So at this time, eSports is on the rise.
(01:14:03):
Yeah, don't they have like a huge competitive thing with Gran Turismo? Yeah.
So I'm sure that led to wanting to make an online-only game.
Which I think is pretty, that's a pretty cool idea.
But for the ones who don't like to play online, just want to boot it up and
be able to play a game without being connected to your server.
(01:14:26):
Seven sorry it's a free game i got i just told you guys this earlier it's a
free game i got never played i'm not saying then but yeah i picked up sport
probably or i picked it up when,
gt7 was announced why did you pick
it up when it was announced because i wanted to get back in
the grand yeah cheaper and i want to get back in the
(01:14:48):
grand turismo that was the wrong one to pick up their disappointment of
six actually was pretty good man it was all right i just
wasn't a fan of online lobbies and racing against
people i don't really know wreckers but it
wasn't that bad is that the one where they took all the like you were able to
in the room if you're racing other people they can control like your tcs and
(01:15:10):
all that stuff was that six nobody can control like if you if you built if you
can change it yeah you can put the settings in yes,
could you yeah yeah like if you can have or use traction control yeah yeah yeah yeah.
I played against somebody one time. They were talking shit the whole motherfucking
(01:15:31):
time. I turned that bitch off.
They were like, as you can see, he's quite powerful.
As you can see, he's accelerating. But he's going to destroy himself because I turned the TCS off.
So I'm like, man, let me get out of your bitch.
So at the launch of a grand turismo sport
(01:15:52):
the game had 168 cars 29 different tracks by 52 different manufacturers 52 that's
less than the last yeah this number keep going down bro well this is kind of
their first game into the online only i mean they did have a campaign
mode call it that but yeah it wasn't
(01:16:15):
okay it was just more just online only game
i got you by 2021 the game
had 338 cars and 82 different track layouts nice that's when i got back into
it i got back in at the end of it and you can purchase cars yeah you buy the cars with real money,
(01:16:38):
but then in the game, if you had enough credits, you could buy the car anyway. Credits, yeah.
Yeah, I never- That's how I think most of games should be, give you the option.
Yeah. Let's do, I hated that. I didn't win a race in sport.
Oh, wow. I raced, that's the first time I raced against George.
(01:17:00):
Is it? Jorge? Mm-hmm. Jorge. Jorge. He, uh, he whooped my butt.
Let me show you how to do it for a minute though so it's not like it's not like
that you had been playing it you just it was just like you said you were just
trying to get back in it right,
every time i raced him he beat me no i'm good on that man well you don't get
(01:17:25):
better by quitting yeah you didn't quit though you went in retirement like jordan
and then came out like you went you You retired. You came back as 45.
But then what? You put on 23 jersey and it was like magic all over again.
45 ain't 23. That's right.
But 23 scored 45 points.
(01:17:48):
And took fines every time he wore 23.
Fined a million dollars every time. That's funny. I got 23 tatted on. Oh, my gosh. Exactly.
So Brazil, Interlagos, you know. Yeah. Makes an appearance.
For what? Gran Turismo Sport. For what? To race at. Get Monza. Monza.
(01:18:16):
Grand's Hatch. Barcelona makes a return. Or not makes a return,
but makes an appearance. Who?
Barcelona. Oh, Barcelona. I'm sorry. Spain. I like that. I like that. Good try. Sir. Spa.
Daryl loves Spa. Spa, Frankenshaw. Nah, fuck Spa. Daryl's favorite.
He said fuck Spa. Oh. We'll get that one.
(01:18:39):
Fuji's in the game. Goodwood. Motor Circuit. Mount Panorama.
Nürburgring. ring nate's favorite red bull ring suzuka
sakuba laguna seca willow springs
yeah but that's sport
yeah not too much doesn't sound like much to talk about seeing it's an online
(01:19:00):
game yeah i don't care for it until the end and i started to get into it and
as i started to get a hang on it seven was announced i said okay we're done here.
Uninstall yes so
we have
(01:19:22):
finally arrived yes Gran Turismo 7
the most recent it is on track allegedly according to Matt Piscatella Piscatella
he used to work at Activision Warner Brothers he dropped a tweet on X or whatever you want to call it
(01:19:43):
That Gran Turismo 7 is on its way to sell more copies than GT3 A-Spec.
Really? Mm-hmm.
Now, really, they expect the best-selling one. Yes. Sold $14.89 million.
Really? Yeah, because they're not putting a cap on it.
(01:20:05):
Normally, like, the first year or something like that, when it first launched,
they ain't putting a cap on it.
So that's why they— Even after, like, the bad, like, microtransactions?
Yeah. Oh, that was messed up what they did. Yeah, so can you explain a little
bit more on where they were going with that?
So i guess when they sent out review copies it
did not include an option for microtransactions for
(01:20:29):
a few copies yeah so they sent a few copies out
and stuff like that to get everyone hyped for the
game okay yeah so then how that goes when
it was officially released there's this option
to uh pay your real world
money to top off your credits and
gain now mind you at launch you could only get
(01:20:50):
20 million credits yeah it
was capped at 20 million yeah i remember that but yet
they're selling cars for 20 million yeah broke
for this mclaren did you
so how so how much so it capped at 20 million so how much was per per like the
(01:21:11):
same transaction how much was the highest and how much was the mid i should
have looked i didn't look it up oh we can look that that up now i'm gonna look
it up i'm gonna look it up now while we're talking but it was ridiculous.
Yeah don't do that nate nate got every car in the game bro no yeah you do no i don't yeah you do,
(01:21:32):
or is eric done last night with eric eric
you got almost every game in the car yeah i mean uh
every car in the game you know there was something that happened
in the game and allowed you to keep generating money so
i kept grinding to make money and you
know was that a glitch no man it was
in the game it was in the glitch they just
(01:21:53):
failed to fail find that issue yeah so i was just i was grinding out the game
oh are you talking about with the dodge no dodge the tomahawk yeah the tomahawk
where you could just mess with it and grind all that money no no and i'm just
gonna I'm gonna go on the PlayStation store. That.
(01:22:14):
What the tomahawk allowed you to detune it to a certain power point so you can
enter x race into certain races and win if you know how to drive it yeah and
win and destroy everything yes but the,
aston martin hand has i don't know if they fixed it i'm not i don't want to
(01:22:38):
put it out there because that's too late that's how the tomahawk got caught
because everybody kept putting it out
there okay right so here's the here's the pricing on this so for a hundred thousand credits,
it's 250 250 no no no two dollars and fifty cents i was just about to clarify,
yeah for a hundred thousand credits for a hundred thousand hundred thousand
(01:23:01):
yes for a hundred thousand okay for 250 000 it's five dollars for 75 hundred
thousand it's ten dollars and then for For $20,
for 20 whole dollars, it's $2 million.
So you're telling me, you, all three of you are telling me, if I want five cars,
I got to spend $100 in real game currency, real money. Polyphony.
(01:23:25):
Real money, U.S. dollars, Euro dollars, whatever it may be, whatever it converts to.
For five cars in my garage, I spend $100. Yes. So for 10, I spend $200.
For 15, I spend $300.
Again, how much chicken can you buy with $300? A lot of fucking chicken.
The reason why people are doing that, though, is because you do have the classics
(01:23:49):
that are worth that, the $20 million and stuff. McLaren F1.
Yeah, that's why people are doing that.
I get it. It's a video game. I don't want no real-world occurrence. But you got it.
So was there microtransactions on GT6?
Yes. Were there in 5? Yes. No? Yes. Where were I?
(01:24:12):
Five so because you
can down that's when it all started downloading okay so then like
paint chips so then now let's let's talk about this way so
were the credits as much as it was then than it is now i think the credit doesn't
mean the same pretty much the same i've it's been a while we can we can compare
this to 2k now you have to spend you have to spend there you go no no no but
(01:24:34):
seriously seriously seriously you have to spend what 20 40 dollars more it's not the same,
I understand it's not the same. Once you get the car, you get the car.
It's not the same. What do you mean it's not the same? It's not the same once
you get the car. I think they've adjusted the payouts over time in Gran Turismo 7.
I believe they are the highest. I haven't seen a list in a while.
(01:24:56):
Because people were upset. Yeah, the payouts were ridiculous.
For the payouts for it.
Yeah, but look at it. Okay. okay let's look
at it i'm getting like 20 200
credits per race okay you know
how many races if i'm just doing it that way you know how many races i have
to do in order to get a two million dollar credit car all right yeah yeah i
(01:25:19):
hear you but it keep this in mind though how much money do we have to spend
to upgrade the player in 2k and then 100 correct and then we can't transfer one One player.
Right. We can't transfer that money over. Yes, you can.
They switched it for 25, right? No. 24, I think. They started doing it in 24.
23, actually. 23? They started doing it in 23.
(01:25:39):
23. So you could transfer all that to other players.
It's called a rebirth. Yeah, I'm great. On the same game or different years?
So on the same game, different generation. Okay.
So say if you have a PS4 and you upgraded to PS5, all
those credits you got on ps4 you can do on ps5 oh that's
(01:25:59):
nice to know yeah well i mean it should i mean a lot of
people complain about it so it should be nice i'm just
saying if i if i have the mclaren that's 20 000 right now if i go play the game
20 000 i mean 20 million right 20 million and i go ahead and i buy it that's
my car no matter if i transfer it over or not that's understandable but what
(01:26:20):
what i'm saying is is that grinding out the credits right yeah that's the
grinding out like if you're putting time into the game you should at least get
some type of like the game should have some type of thing where it's like you
played for this long so you get this amount of oh this or whatever yeah there's
like a roulette system yeah they do okay but the roulette is trash though i
(01:26:40):
don't really like i mean i know you gotta finish there's some gas money.
Like you get a six star and it's like oh here's 10k bye yeah which should not
have yet to get Like all the bricks of gold I have yet to do that You never
will I can't with you right now I know you will,
(01:27:02):
I got it several times, but who's counting? No. I am.
Got it like four or five times.
So Gran Turismo 7, celebrating 25 years, was released March 4th,
2022 on the PS4 and the PS5.
(01:27:24):
The game was supposed to come out back in 2021, but we all know C19 messed everything up.
Well c19 we're not even gonna give it we're not
even give it the actual name no i just call it c19 i call
it covid 76 i change the number every time
i say it yeah covid 82 c19 that's a new one covid 22 dang but that was when
(01:27:48):
that was when the world ended yeah why are you going dark i mean but seriously
this is when the world ended it was the it was the era of nothing for like two Two years.
Yeah, but you're still here. Two and a half years. Mm-hmm.
I can't with you right now. No, I'm just being real.
Yeah, you're being real. The game does have a car dealership, which is a joke.
(01:28:09):
It's trash. I agree. It's just one car dealership? Just one dealership seems
to have the same 30 cars. Same.
Trash. And it rotates. How many cars are in GT7? We're at 514 cars.
It's getting less and less. I'm telling you. 71 different manufacturers.
And they want us to do these microtransactions This is what I'm talking about
(01:28:30):
This is what I'm talking about right here I think it's more on Sony's end Than Polyphony.
Just how i mean they could they could vouch for us though like some of these
game companies can vouch for
us man like we're putting 70 yeah 70 and if you get the deluxe of 90 yeah.
(01:28:52):
What were you gonna say nate i got the deluxe version we know gt7 you gotta
see he got the deluxe version we all got the deluxe how much money to see i
see i got it free i got the standard so what what did you what how much money did you put into it,
just how much yeah how much was the
uh 25th anniversary 70 80 bucks no
(01:29:14):
no i think it was 100 was it was 100 yeah i
think so so what did you get with it i mean you got
probably got some cars probably got credits i think you got a
bit is it a limited edition can yeah
the the steel you got the Tom's Toyota Supra okay right I mean it's not a bad
(01:29:35):
car I'm done I'm done with you Nate I'm done I like that car you don't even like Supra no I don't,
but it's a good car that one has the 3S GT I knew you was going to say it does
not have the 2J so we're good you know it's balanced.
(01:30:02):
So, GT7 stories. Nate, what do you got?
Where am I at with stories? GT7.
We know where I'm at. Yeah, we know where you're at. Don't be bashful about it. Getting Daryl'd?
Getting Daryl'd. You mean that...
(01:30:24):
I think partially. Watch, say it. Partially. You got too much power.
It might have been my fault. No, it wasn't. What happened?
What happened? No, we did. Okay, so one race I did win.
You right. You right. I didn't mean to hit you. And then that became a whole
department. Oh, hold up. Hold up. Hold up.
Hold up. But that's part of it, is it not? No, because Nate was like,
(01:30:45):
I don't think he saw me. But everybody was like, oh.
So this is how we play. What was it? Was it monster? Monster.
I'll never forget it. So hold on, hold on, hold on. So bump drafting ain't it?
Bump drafting's not a thing? I didn't try to.
I didn't try to. Was it the first corner? Yes.
Okay. Yeah, but in five, in five, this is Nate.
(01:31:09):
He bump drafted me, and he said, oh, that's part of the game.
Go check it. It's part of the rules.
I'm like. Did you end up facing the other way?
No, I mean, now hold up, hold up.
There's a car in the wall now actually i did
and daryl's defense i did that does
(01:31:30):
happen sometimes no it breaks no because
you know breaks what car did i
use what'd you use i think you what i think you used the porsche but i had the
lambo and right it was an accident i said it on on live why are we why am i
poor we play the win the game man i didn't mean to no no no i just remember Remember,
(01:31:53):
Nate didn't even fight. Someone forgot to hit break. Look, just look.
We play to win the game. I don't want... Nate, I love you.
I love you. Thank you. But you better not be apologizing. I got you.
About winning a race. I did. I had to.
You did what you had to do to win the race. And that was the only race I won,
(01:32:15):
actually. That was the only race I won. Because it was.
Legitimately. That was legit. Oh, my God. It is legit. No, no, no.
Look at Jeff Gordon. Let's put in Jeff Gordon now.
All right? That man's wrecking half the goddamn field. Yeah,
but you don't like Jeff Gordon anymore. To get to where he needs to be.
He's all right. you retired him right i don't retire no no no no jeff i mean
(01:32:36):
jeff gordon was all right he was good he was good at what he did but no i what
people don't understand like it was that race,
that i woke up the sleepy giant because it was from that point.
Nate destroyed the shit out of me nate he was like no i think spa was first,
(01:32:59):
Nate, did that not happen?
No, that was after. Was it after? That was after. Okay. Did that not happen?
That one was an emotional race. It did happen. That was an emotional race.
Because Nate, when he's focusing, he doesn't talk.
So you know you're in trouble. That's what I'm saying.
And it's just like, like, spa, that was an accident.
(01:33:19):
I completely, because y'all let me do the test draw, and nobody said anything.
Nobody was like, we told you the rules, man. No, because nobody said anything.
I was just test driving this car, and everybody was like, oh, okay.
And then you put it on start. I was like, well, okay. Okay, fine.
(01:33:42):
Then when i won they'd be like what the fuck is he
celebrating for you didn't win you didn't
so when it happened you know we had a little racing league going and we had
all called our cars that we were using daryl wanted to use a different year
(01:34:03):
for the corvette and wanted to destroy all.
We're all like, why is this car so fast?
Because the previous race. Don't you do it.
Previous race, I think you were close, but then you came, then we went to the
spa, then you just destroyed everybody.
(01:34:23):
Y'all let me test drive this thing. Y'all let me go the whole track and I would
have my headphones on and nobody said anything.
It was quiet. We didn't think you would change the year. We didn't think you would change.
We were like, no, we were doing the honor system. No, that was my fault. That was my fault.
And I thought that I had, I was like, holy shit, I won?
(01:34:45):
I'm nine seconds ahead? No. No way. No. Okay, here we go.
And y'all probably muted me and was talking shit like, hey, I don't think Daryl
knows what the fuck is going on, guys. No.
Then I text messaged everybody. I was like, that was a great win,
guys. And everybody was like, what the fuck?
(01:35:06):
He couldn't leave fast enough. That was the suspicion point.
He left so fast, we're like, wait a minute.
We have to look at this. Why did he leave so fast?
I had to do something real quick. And I was like, hey, guys, great race.
And I was like, what the fuck? Wait a minute. Was that car even legal?
(01:35:29):
No, it wasn't. Performance.
No, it was not. Because you know how to set whatever running.
It's just. No, it wasn't. Well, it was according to your criteria. But the car itself.
No, that's my baby right there.
I was just like, I was fucking destroying them.
Call them deny deny deny no
(01:35:51):
you don't understand that was the
greatest feeling in the world to beat nate and
o'neill it's just the car setup that he had for it just made him much better
he got good you know what hey i know and i was celebrating then y'all came back
what the fuck bro you did not win his you know and then we were arguing about
(01:36:13):
the year yeah it's like there was no No, why'd you?
There was a, you know, because we said, you know, hey, we're running this car.
You know, Michael Beasley said it best.
Basketball player Michael Beasley. Yes. Sometimes God made you better.
And that day, that day, that day he was better. I turned that game on quick.
They ain't lying. I turned that bitch on quick.
(01:36:36):
I think Brian sent the message like, wait a minute. Why does this car look different?
Right. So then Detective Brian. Brian well investigated because they were just
saying pull up the replay I was gonna say pull up the replay did we challenge this I was like oh,
who threw the flag who threw the flag Brian Eric Eric was like no dog you ain't winning this shit,
(01:37:00):
and then I was arguing with Brian cause Brian was like yo look at the front
end it's not the same front end not the same car yeah so y'all had rice with the same cars,
yes that's what it was yeah so we called you know whatever but i
was testing out the track and i had a older
year and i was supposed to bring out i believe the 14 yeah
(01:37:20):
the same one with the same one that we were racing what did you bring
up the 09 so i brought out the 09 they were the
same color i wasn't even paying attention they were like the same color and
then i was like holy shit this thing's a beast
and then that's when they started at like reviewing the tapes and deflategate
or some shit right because we were in the beginning of our race season we let.
(01:37:51):
No hey i'm gonna be using this card yeah
for this season and we
can't change or if you did change you had to ask for permission there was a
penalty as well you couldn't add upgrades for like i think it was three races
or oh yeah we're doing an upgrade thing didn't acquire any points for two races. Yeah. One or the other.
(01:38:18):
They got me good. They got me good.
No, no, no. We didn't get you. We need to show our specs on our cars from now on.
Let me just see what upgrades we got, because I see some people cheating,
Daryl, but I don't want to say anything.
But you can't really cheat, because the PowerPoint had a cap.
(01:38:38):
It was You can't really cheat.
So his win was legit? it no because
it wasn't because i didn't use the original car he said
he was going to lose all right so correct me
if i'm wrong now i need i need to understand this you don't have to
play devil's advocate no i'm not i'm not playing devil's advocate i'm
(01:38:59):
i'm trying to see this correct me if i'm wrong so you set
the criteria right you know did you set the criteria in in
game before we start yes oh so it's not it's
not in game it's what you all agree on in game
yeah i mean you can set like whatever you want your room
to be as far as performer points yeah pitting or
tires required okay yeah all right so it's
(01:39:19):
in game y'all chose the
same car he didn't choose the same car so he
y'all chose the same car but he chose the same
car of a different year yeah it was a bit so how
did that not flag this was this was a different on
the honor system them no you can't say
(01:39:41):
oh you can't say anything we know there's
different years of cars yeah but we all call out hey
we're gonna use this car right so so whoever
picks first gets that is that that's the year of the car no
what it was was just like you just like if you
want to start the season yeah before we started the season we
all picked the one car that we were gonna y'all did seasons yeah hold
(01:40:02):
the fuck up this is getting deep yeah okay so.
Before the season y'all called out whatever it was yes
and my absent-minded behind had thought
that i picked the card that i started the season with and then
these local jokers here didn't even say nothing they
was quiet i thought we did say no y'all
didn't question it at first but because he doesn't have a
(01:40:25):
mic i did have a mic and i could hear y'all but y'all
was quiet as a day i think we questioned it but we're like well let's just go
until I won alright so I have that same car he had okay,
(01:40:46):
It's not slow. It's not fast either. Oh, it's fast. Okay.
It's bad. He, we could see the difference. Okay. All right.
Or after the first lap. So how did we not call this race? We did 12 laps.
How did we not call this race then? We already started and they called it afterwards.
(01:41:09):
Like after the fact. Yeah. Oh. I don't know. Oh, okay. That's a good question.
Because they didn't see anything.
See no we kept questioning it we were
like why all of a sudden he's this fast no i thought
i said that's a different car i'm
a car guy so i knew off you know what you know we're probably all talking over
(01:41:31):
you know no no we're not talking you know what nate you sound like uh uh gronk
off of uh empress new groove hey you see how mad he's getting right.
He's mad at that race he was like what the
fuck that is not the car but but but my
thing is my thing is it officially started and
(01:41:53):
ended oh right no no no i'm just saying i'm just saying i'm just saying you're
talking to a defensive minded guy played db who cheated every fucking play they
could if i knew i couldn't hang
with him right i'm grabbing jersey i'm i'm doing all All kinds of shit.
Right? See? See? But he said he picked the wrong car.
(01:42:16):
I did. I had to admit. Because I was going back and forth with him.
But this is the part that messed up, right? Because we do trial laps.
Okay. I sat and I didn't even pay attention.
Nobody said anything. I sat while everybody was doing their trial laps.
I was literally sitting.
And then Eric started the race. And I was like, fuck, I can't even get out this
(01:42:37):
car. We didn't say nothing.
I was sitting around the first corner, like off in that little area over there. I was sitting.
All right. Well, you know, I think when was the next season started?
Are we not doing this anymore? I ain't trying to. You got to find some time.
Man, shit. We're waiting.
Waiting on what? Me. Nate's a fucking beast. Wait, me?
(01:43:00):
Fuck that. And I'm definitely not playing with O'Neal.
But he gave us a good laugh. What are you talking about? Neil had a stock car and beat everybody.
Oh, this one used a vent. for a vet yeah at
700 horses while everybody else was
at 500 exactly and then
george jumped in it was a fucking george's mom's
(01:43:21):
yeah too we did one track how you get good right okay so we against good people
all right was that when we're using the mercedes yes yes and and then george had Yeah,
fuel consumption,
(01:43:43):
tire wear. But we all agree on it.
I didn't agree on it. It's majority.
Yeah. Exactly. I was going to say that. That is majority. But it's for other
people. Yeah. And I'm like, all right, whatever.
George whipped it so bad. I remember George whipped it so bad on the first lap. Same cars?
(01:44:04):
No, not the same cars. Ferrari. Yeah, he had the Ferrari. Set a PowerPoint limit.
And we have to abide by that rule. Okay. You can't have a car over that. Okay.
Yeah, George. Yeah. Had a machine. And Nate was telling me something.
Nate was like, oh, I see what he did. So he put on racing softs and then he
(01:44:27):
put the gasoline on lean so that he could go.
Yes, that's what he did. No. Depending on the train. Put on racing softs.
Probably put the gas to like two or three.
Not lean. Yeah, he put that on Cs. He had it nice. Yeah, he did.
You're right. If you lean it out, it's actually slower.
So he had it on a good tune. Yeah, three or four.
(01:44:47):
He had the softs on. And he took the fuck off.
Yeah, because by the time... That's how it's gone. That's how a lot of racing...
If you watch racing now, that's what they do.
Yeah, by the time we were pit, he would already... He would be leaning out.
Yeah, he would be gone. And put mediums on. Then he could run the race.
Five or six. He had the gap...
(01:45:08):
We getting close. That's why I don't fucking race y'all. I told you.
You psychologically fucking know. We still raced. It's racing.
Someone has to. You win some, but you lose some. I don't hear that.
Someone has to. I don't hear that. You live to fight another day,
yeah? Nah, I ain't live to fight nothing.
Nothing. Deebo done came around and got you. If you don't immerse yourself in
(01:45:32):
competition like that, you can't ever get good. I agree. I agree.
Where you're still at because what are you racing a computer
don't do that don't do that i'm serious i told
you i want i too i do want don't you do that because you're trying
to be deep all of a sudden no no i'm just i just get better no i know your two-week
(01:45:52):
hiatus that you did that that right there better man sometimes you gotta step
away yes refocus yeah and that's what i did found some Some stuff that was off.
I said, oh, turned it off.
Came back, adjusted some suspension a little better. Right. And I mean, even now.
(01:46:13):
And that's the same thing. We raced last night. Yeah.
All of us won. I won one. He won one. O'Neal won one.
You can't know what you need to fix if you don't immerse yourself into something that's better.
I know what I have a challenge because you already told me you putting too much
(01:46:35):
power in that's what you not all the time Not all the time stop it.
I mean doesn't also it also goes with the track.
It goes with the car Yeah, yeah, I mean you got a lot of things that is that
really the key incorporated in seven Yes, I know I agree with I have cars at the same PowerPoint and.
(01:46:57):
Will not bring out at certain tracks because it'll get destroyed.
And how it's how you drive them in this game.
I'm using a lot more muscle cars because there's a city where from there's a way to drive them.
Now there's, I found a way they're more controllable.
Now I think I feel like mine are like, I have a, what is it?
(01:47:23):
The demon that's in the game.
Yeah. Yeah. That was a good one. Yeah. I have that thing. I feel like that thing, I found it.
The issue with that car now, though, in the game, I feel like, is the transmission.
It has too many gears. What am I going to do with eight gears?
What? In that car, my third gear is first gear for me. Oh, my God. Yeah.
(01:47:48):
Doing donuts in the first two?
No. Well, I mean. It just accelerates.
It shifts go fast yeah I
don't even need first and second I just leave it in
third and it has so much torque yeah it's gonna just pull itself out yeah so
I agree with the older cars yeah you can't pack all that that damn power in
(01:48:11):
there cause it doesn't perform right mhm I like the I like the Cuda I like the Cuda but the uh,
I don't like the Chevelle I have one I have three I think it's pretty decent.
Yeah, I don't like it. The one that I built, I don't like it.
I put it too light. Like, it's super duper light. I know, Nate,
(01:48:34):
you're a genius. It's a gift. I got you.
No, you're not building a drift car. You're building a car to go around corners.
Well, this one is a drifter. I know. Because you put that swap in it, and now it's junk.
I didn't put no swap in it. Did they get the LS swap? Actually,
I don't think it gets a swap yet, to be honest.
(01:48:57):
The Firebird does. The Firebird does get the LS swap in. Yeah, I have that in there.
And so does the older Corvettes, because I have both of them with this swap
in there. I tried. I was looking.
I was like, they're both at 728 horses. Why? Oh.
There was another one, too, that you could do a swap, and I forgot which one
(01:49:17):
it was. But with those, you have to be a driver.
Nate, don't you start with that mess.
I found out also I started short shifting in some of my cars and I'm faster.
Really? So you're shifting at a lower RPM. Is that what that is? Yeah.
(01:49:38):
So is that more for a stability thing? Yes. Okay. Yep. So I started doing that too.
And that's the problem with the muscle cars. You short shift and depending on
the track and the setup and the,
Like with my Camaro, which is supercharged, I don't let it whine out because
(01:50:00):
then I'm sideways going to fight it.
I shift right before I know that supercharged power is going to come in and
it just takes off. I'm starting to like them.
I mean, I'm a Dodge guy.
I'm a Viper king. Stop it.
(01:50:21):
You've always said American is trash you've always said that's it,
now is that now we we did it in the Chevy I know how to use them now my gosh
yeah I would agree I think they've gotten better American cars have gotten better
in video games yeah yeah they have at least for me I mean I'm sure there's other
they're not so wobbly yeah I remember this yeah yeah like they don't perform
(01:50:41):
as what they should have been performing like,
except the Viper it's always perfect I don't hear I don't hear It's an amazing machine.
No, I tried to get you to look at my Diablo. You wouldn't look at my Diablo.
I was like, Nate, look, man, I got this Diablo. It's like a little freaking kid at a candy store.
(01:51:03):
I was like, Nate, Nate, look at my Diablo. You're like, ah, it's trash.
Just throw it away. Throw it away. I think.
Yeah, Diablo. Oh, yeah, I do have one, too. That's how much I love Lamborghini Diablo.
So that's the Kuntash I'm thinking of. The Diablo GT.
The Kuntash is a beast too if you tune it right.
(01:51:25):
It's dangerous. Yeah.
What was that? The Kuntash is a beast if you tune it right. I have one tuned
pretty decent. Yeah. It's all right.
I'm not a Ferrari guy. Yeah. I have them. I like the LaFerrari.
I do like that one. 4.58 in the house.
Yeah, I'm just not a big Ferrari guy. I have a couple of 458s. They're nasty.
(01:51:49):
Oh, my God. Then they had the Scuderia. Yeah, you called it the Scuderia.
Oh, that thing is... It's an amazing machine.
Yeah, I like it. And the F8, finally, after they did the suspension tweaks. Yeah.
I never used that one. I was like, oh, it's good now. Went and bought another one.
(01:52:10):
Yeah, I got to play with that one, too. Another one. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah, man. I need your help, bro. He needs your help.
Don't do that. Just ask. I have asked you. Just hop in the room,
man. We'll create a room. You're trash. Exactly. You're trash. Create a room.
Let me look at that card. Let me.
(01:52:30):
No, I mean. Where can they find you on PlayStation Network? Your gamer's head. Yeah. Nissan General.
I think it's Nissan General.
Or isn't it? Yeah. Or is it 23 General?
Oh, here we go. Well, now you need to switch to 23 in Japanese is Nissan.
Mm-hmm. So you're telling me you the Michael Jordan of the game right now? No.
(01:52:57):
In Japanese, 23 Nissan.
Daryl, where can they find you on PlayStation? Socials, anywhere?
Yeah, they got, I'm under demonic. I might switch that, but I'm demonic.
Yeah. And y'all are like, that's Darryl. You need to change the dress.
(01:53:18):
He's a demon on this track. Three beers in, boys. That's me.
Sean, where can they reach you on PSN?
PSN, Kioji1224.
Nice. They can reach me at SHS underscore Scorpion. You still rocking that?
Yeah. You're still alive, man. Man, ain't nobody trying to be a Scorpion for life, bro.
(01:53:40):
Hey, hey, I'm a Scorpion for life. I'm a scorpion for life Nah Nah I'm a scorpion
for life I don't even claim them No more bruh Those corpse I mean Wait did you
go to satellite too Yes I did,
Graduated in 99 That's how old I am 99,
It's just a good Taking over for the 99 Can you wake up With your mask Yeah You bad yeah.
(01:54:05):
Hey Hey Cash money records Back in the day Taking over Yeah taking over,
you need to change that eric no it's good it's too compared to bootylicious69
that's out there i feel you i don't think you're ready for this jelly,
cause my body too bootylicious for you baby you know hear about those screen
(01:54:29):
names or email addresses people gotta put oh on resumes or whatever talking
i gotta you got talking about Talking about screen names,
there was one, it was like years ago, it was like maybe like eight or nine years ago.
Steve and I were playing Battlefield, and one person had a screen name of Dad's Moose Knuckle.
(01:54:50):
Oh, my God. Wow.
Holy cow. So you want to talk about weird screen names.
Bootylicious is one, but Dad's Moose Knuckle? Oh, no. Oh, no.
Wow.
(01:55:11):
Yeah, it was dad's mousseline. I was in tears when I saw that. Me and Steve were dying.
What? Yeah, man. There's some weird shit out there.
I mean, I'm pretty sure they do it for all comical purposes.
Like, I don't think people are like, oh, yeah, you know.
But yeah, dad's mousseline was probably the best one I came across.
(01:55:39):
And on that note, thank you for listening.
Appreciate you listening. We're out. We're done.
