Welcome to the JESUS LOVES U Podcast.
(00:02):
Today’s message is simple… but serious.
Let’s talk about Lot’s wife—and why looking back can cost you everything.
⸻ Genesis 19 tells the story of how God rescued Lot and his family from Sodom—a city so wicked that judgment was unavoidable.
God’s command was clear.
“Escape for your life.
(00:23):
Do not look back or stop anywhere in the valley.
” – Genesis 19:17.
But in verse 26, it says.
“But Lot’s wife, behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.
” She didn’t curse God.
She didn’t run back into the city.
She just looked back.
But in doing so, she revealed where her heart truly was.
(00:46):
⸻ Lot’s wife wasn’t just glancing over her shoulder.
She was longing for what God was destroying.
She didn’t want to leave.
Her heart was still tied to a city full of sin, compromise, and comfort.
She looked back because she wasn’t fully surrendered.
And that’s the same reason many believers fall today.
⸻ Let me ask you— What is God calling you to leave behind… that you keep looking back at?
(01:10):
• That old relationship.
• That hidden sin.
• That version of your life before Christ.
• That crowd you don’t want to disappoint.
Luke 17:32 says it plainly.
“Remember Lot’s wife.
” That’s Jesus speaking.
He didn’t say it for fun—He said it as a warning.
⸻ God doesn’t rescue you to leave you torn between two lives.
(01:31):
When He calls you out, He expects you to keep walking forward.
Philippians 3:13–14 says.
“Forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead… I press on toward the goal.
” You can’t move in two directions at once.
You either keep looking at your past—or you run toward your purpose.
But not both.
(01:52):
Lot’s wife teaches us this.
Half-obedience is disobedience.
⸻ Let’s pray.
Father, I don’t want to be like Lot’s wife.
Show me what I keep looking back at—what I haven’t surrendered.
Give me the strength to let go of the things You’ve called me out of.
Fix my eyes on You, and lead me forward into holiness, purpose, and obedience.
(02:13):
No turning back.
No divided heart.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen.
⸻ Some things behind you were never meant to come with you.
Don’t turn back.

Let the warning in Lot’s wife become fuel for your forward motion.

(02:35):
