(00:00):
Welcome back to the JESUS LOVES YOU Podcast — where we keep it real, raw, and rooted in God’s Word.
(00:07):
Today’s episode is for anyone who’s ever wondered, “Am I still a baby Christian?
And how do I grow up in my faith?
” Let’s talk about it.
⸻ What Is a Baby Christian?
A “baby Christian” — also called a new believer — is someone who’s just started walking with Jesus.
They’ve been saved,but they’re still learning the basics (00:23):
what it means to follow Christ,
how to read the Bible, how to pray, how to hear God’s voice,
and how to let go of their old life.
And that’s okay — we all start there.
But here’s the truth (00:39):
God doesn’t want you to stay there.
Just like babies grow into children, and children grow into adults — God wants His sons and daughters to mature in the faith.
⸻ 1 Peter 2:2 says.
“Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation.
(01:00):
” So yes — it’s normal to start with milk.
But if you’ve been saved for a while and still can’t handle deeper truth,
or you’re still stuck in sin, something’s off.
Paul said in 1 Corinthians 3:2.
“I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it.
” He was calling them out — not because they were new, but because they were still acting immature.
(01:24):
⸻ So How Long Does It Last?
There’s no timer.
You’re not automatically mature just because you’ve been saved for a year.
Spiritual maturity isn’t about time — it’s about growth.
Some people grow fast because they’re hungry, obedient, and in the Word.
Others stay spiritual infants for years because they won’t let go of the world,
(01:46):
they avoid correction,or they don’t want to change.
⸻ How Do You Know You’re Growing?
Ask yourself.
• Am I craving God’s Word more than I used to?
• Am I producing fruit — love, patience, purity, humility?
• Do I handle conflict better?
• Am I walking in obedience even when it’s hard?
• Do I recognize lies and stand on truth?
(02:07):
If you’re seeing progress — even if it’s slow — you’re growing.
⸻ Warning Signs of Staying a Baby Christian.
• You avoid reading the Bible.
• You chase emotions but not truth.
• You’re easily offended.
• You keep returning to sin without repentance.
• You base your faith on feelings instead of the cross.
(02:27):
Maturity doesn’t mean perfection — it means direction.
You’re walking toward Jesus, even when you fall.
