In each episode, grade 4 and 5 students from Strathcona Elementary School interview a variety of different members of the Chilliwack community including an author/illustrator, local business owner, Chief and CEO of the Squiala First Nation, body piercer and Associate Dean in the Faculty of Science. During the interview, students ask the essential question:
What do you most appreciate about the City of Chilliwack, the city we live in?
In this episode, we interview Salina Derish, founder of PickEco Refills—the Fraser Valley's first zero-waste grocery store—and President of the PickEco Zero Waste Society. Known for her "attainable and sustainable" approach to environmental advocacy, Salina is transforming how her community thinks about consumption and waste. When she's not championing sustainability, you'll find her hiking or freediving, always collecting litter along the way.
