Episode 15 | Released: 14th April 2025
Welcome back to the Twin Elements Podcast.
In this episode we discuss a heated topic and one that always has differing opinions.
We talk about eating wild game such as feral pigs, goats, buffalo and deer. All of which can have the potential to harbour and spread disease.
However, in this podcast we also run you through a few strategies and steps that we perform to help ensure the safest possible quality meat in our freezers and reduce risk elimination.
We will identify and list certain bacteria and other organisms which can infect these animals and the important diseases that they can transmit to humans.
We run you through the very true and apparent risks of eating these wild animals, mainly to make you aware that they exist. Then we will go through step by step to help you reduce your anxiety and understand how to safely mitigate those risks.
Whilst we live and breathe this sort of stuff in our daily professions as Veterinarians, and also eat majority of the meat we hunt for ourselves.
It is worth stating that this episode is simply a guide to wild game meat and the diseases that it may harbour. Eating wild game meats should be done at your own risk. This podcast should only act as a thought provoker and a basis for your meat harvesting desires. Everything mentioned within this podcast should be diligently fact checked to ensure your own piece of mind heading into the field and feeding your friends and family.
