Good morning, Quakers! It's Monday, September 15, 2025, and here's what's happening at the University of Pennsylvania. The Class of 2029 has officially arrived, with 2,429 first-year students moving into Penn's 13 College Houses during Move-In Week. They join 3,416 returning students, bringing vibrant energy to campus as the new academic year begins. In a significant move to enhance affordability, Penn has expanded its financial aid program. Starting this fall, families earning up to $200,000 annually will qualify for full-tuition scholarships. Additionally, the university will no longer consider the value of a family's primary home when calculating financial aid eligibility. The university has also unveiled its fourth Climate and Sustainability Action Plan, setting ambitious goals to achieve carbon neutrality by 2042. This plan underscores Penn's commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability. On Wednesday, September 17, journalist John Harwood will be on campus for a conversation hosted by Dick Polman. Harwood, known for his work with CNBC and CNN, will share insights from his extensive career covering American politics. The event is scheduled for 12:00 PM and requires prior registration. Later that day, at 5:30 PM, authors Julia Elliott and Stephanie Feldman will participate in the Bernheimer Symposium. Elliott is celebrated for her story collections "Hellions" and "The Wilds," while Feldman is known for her novel "The Angel of Losses." This literary event promises engaging discussions and is also open for in-person attendance with prior registration. The Penn Quakers football team is gearing up for the 2025 season under the leadership of head coach Ray Priore. While the team was selected to finish sixth in the Ivy League preseason poll, fans are optimistic about the upcoming games at Franklin Field. Today in Philadelphia, expect a mix of sun and clouds with a high around 78°F (26°C). There's a slight chance of showers in the evening, so you might want to carry an umbrella if you're out late. That's all for today's update. Stay informed, stay engaged, and as always, Go Quakers!
