Ghislaine Maxwell opposes court
Ghislaine Maxwell's defense team told the court on Tuesday that it opposes a judge releasing grand jury transcripts in her sex trafficking case after the Trump Department of Justice moved to unseal them.
Maxwell's attorneys wrote in court papers that the unsealing would jeopardize her appeal to the Supreme Court and that their client could not take an "informed position" since the court had declined to let her defense team see the transcripts in advance.
Lightning bolt stretches 515 miles
An enormous, 515-mile-long flash of lightning that crossed at least three states has been named the longest in recorded history in the world.
The 2017 “megaflash” stretched from eastern Texas to near Kansas City — a distance that would take at least eight hours by car or 90 minutes by commercial plane, according to the World Meteorological Organization. In comparison, the average bolt of lightning usually measures less than 10 miles, according to the National Weather Service.
