- Ever wondered
why some websites outshineothers in search results?
The secret sauce is notjust quality content,
but also optimized images.
Welcome to our guide onoptimizing images for SEO.
Here's why you should beworking image optimization
into your SEO workflow.

(00:21):
Almost 25% of all searchesin Google are image searches.
And when you combine thatstatistic with the fact
that there are more than 2million searches per minute
on Google,
image optimization is notsomething you should ignore.
Google wants a fast internet,
and its algorithmsreward fast page loading.

(00:42):
And with tools like Canvaand Photoshop Express,
there's no excuse as bothof these tools make it easy.
Hey there, savvy marketers.
I'm Toby Danylchuk with 39Celsius Web Marketing Consulting.
Today, we're discussing howto optimize images for SEO.
But before we get into the content,

Okay, back to the content.
Image optimization is crucialfor improving site speed,

(01:27):
enhancing user experience,and skyrocketing engagement.
Some statistics show
that for every secondslower your page loads
compared to your peers,
conversions drop by 17%.
People will not waitfor your page to load.
Not optimizing your imageswill hit you in your wallet

(01:47):
if you're not paying attention.
First, let's discuss image file names.
Always use target keywordsin your file names,
like pepperoni-pizza.jpgor leatherwallet.jpg,
not 45689.jpg.
Next is your alt text.
This helps search enginesunderstand the image context,
boosting your SEO.
And it's also necessary for screen readers

(02:10):
for the visually impaired.
So provide alt text thatis similar to the file name
with your target keyword.
Next, choose the right image format.
You have 4 basic file types.
The two most common that youshould use are JPEGS and PNGs.
JPEGs are typically used for photos,
while PNGs are often used for graphics

(02:32):
with less color data, often images with text.
Then there are GIFs whichare used for animations,
and finally, WebP.
But I can tell you from experience,
we use JPEGs for 90% or more
of the images we use on web pages.
They maintain the best quality
while reducing the file size the most.
I would encourage youto experiment however

(02:53):
with different quality levels of a JPEG
to find the right balance betweenmaking an image look great
and having the smallestfile size possible.
Next, resize images to matchyour page requirements.
This reduces load time withoutcompromising on quality.
If the dimensions of whereyou're putting the image

(03:14):
are 650 pixels wide,
then make sure the imageis exactly that width.
If you use the wrong image size,
the browser will resize theimages before the page loads,
which slows it down.
This is bad for SEO.
Lastly, don't forget aboutthe power of captions, titles,
and other meta fields.
They enhance both SEO and user experience.

(03:36):
Captions being the most important
out of those remaining fields.
To better understand your pages
and how they are doing on page speed,
utilize Google's Page Speed Insights.
It provides overall analysis of your page,
but most importantly,
it will show you whatyou can save in seconds
by optimizing images on a page.

(03:57):
And in terms of tools foroptimizing your images,
as I mentioned earlier,
we use Canva and PhotoshopExpress to compress images.
Here are some real-life examples
of optimizing images before and after.
Notice how these imagesare still high-quality,
load faster than before optimization,
and have relevantcaptions and descriptions.

(04:20):
That's effective image optimization.
So, why wait?
Optimize your website images today
to boost your SEO rankingsand conversion rates.
Go back through allyour old posts and pages
and start optimizing your images.
The power of image optimizationis now in your hands.
So, I hope this helped youunderstand the benefits

(04:42):
and the importance of image SEO.
