First up though, why arethe findings in the state
of search Q2 2025 report crucialto you and your business?

(01:28):
Because it shows user behaviorbased on clickstream data
collected from datto's largescale panel of tens of millions
of active desktop users globally.
It reveals how search is changing
and evolving the impact thatAI has had on search and more.
It's no surprise thatGoogle search has undergone
significant changes inthe last year with AI mode

(01:49):
and AI overviews
and search results with the rise
of answer engines like Chat, GPT, Gemini,
perplexity, and others.
But what's really happening with
how people search is search dead.
Is chat GTP takingtraffic away from Google?
Should you ignore search?
Is Google on the precipiceof becoming irrelevant?
Should we focus SEO effortson answer engines in a EO?

(02:12):
What does the Clickstreamdata show in terms of
how user behavior and search are changing
and how should we as marketers evolve?
We're going to answer these questions,
show you the surprising results,
and explain what you can do now
to make your marketing morerelevant and more impactful.
First up, the state ofsearch Q2 2025 report.
Google isn't just a player in search,

(02:33):
it's the whole stadium.
Surprisingly, this has not changed much,
and it's not likely to changedrastically anytime soon.
Answer engines have had onlya minor impact on Google's
domination and monopoly.
Google still holds an overwhelming share
of search at 95% in thislast quarter with Yahoo
and being in a second and third place.

(02:54):
So for every a hundred peoplelooking for something online,
about 95 of them are using Google.
So Google is still king. This has not changed.
SEO is still important. You cannot ignore SEO.
While it's good to know theseother search engines exist,
like being in Yahoo, your primary focus
for traditional search should be Google,
and that is not changing anytime soon.

(03:15):
The conventional searchmarket is seeing a slow dip,
but this doesn't meansearch is going away.
However, it does mean searchis becoming more fragmented.
And here's what I mean.
The number one destination
after a search on Google isYouTube, followed by Reddit.
So not only is YouTube receivingsearch traffic from Google,
it's also the second largest search engine
from a different study.

(03:36):
Up to 55% or more of Googlesearches have videos.
If you want to capturemore search traffic,
a video strategy is a must.
Another interesting statisticfrom the Dodos report looked
at three major contentplatforms, YouTube, Reddit,
and Pinterest, and each respective share
of desktop users in the us.
YouTube, as you mightexpect, has 75 to 80% share

(03:59):
of desktop users, followed by distant.
Distant. Second is Redditat around 35 to 40%
of desktop users and thenPinterest with about 15% share.
What's interesting to note is
that people are searchingon these platforms.
The data show that YouTubehas seen a massive increase in
one year from 3.6 searchers per user to

(04:19):
around 10 searches on average,
Reddit is steady on average number
of searches per user over the last year
with four to five searches.
Then Pinterest saw pop in January
of this year from twosearches per user per month
to an average aroundfive searchers searches
per user per month.
People are using platformsother than Google to search.

(04:39):
So what should we make of these data
and how should you adjustyour marketing strategy?
What are the implicationsfor your marketing tactics?
First, it's clear that Googleis still the dominant search
engine by a huge margin,
and that's not changinganytime soon as AI chat,
like GPT has not made a meaningful dent in
Google search dominance.
If discovery is vitalfor your brand, then SEO

(05:02):
and Google ads are still essential
to increase your visibilityin Google searches.
Second, Google is keeping moreof its traffic on its pages
or Google propertieswith zero click searches.
The steady increase in zero click searches
where the user search is answeredin the search results page
and they do not click throughto a website, has been growing

(05:23):
for several years.
At first, search elementslike rich snippets, FAQs,
and knowledge panels werethere to keep you on Google.
But now we have AI overviewsin AI mode answering your
questions in Google search results pages
to increase the likelihood
of appearing in Google's AI overviews
and other answer engines.
There are some essential tactics

(05:44):
that you should be following,
and I have a related videoabout this titled Google AI
Overviews, why yourWebsite Traffic Is Down
and How Small Businesses Can Adapt.
You can just Google that andmy name and it should come up.

In that video, in theaccompanying blog post,
I cover tactics that you can use now

(06:05):
to increase your exposure inthese AI overviews in AI chat,
so be sure to check that out.
Third search is becoming more fragmented,
so branch out from just Google.
Think in terms of where yourcustomers are hanging out.
Consider layering on avideo content strategy.
If you haven't embracedvideo yet, now is the time
to consider that over half ofall Google searches have video

(06:28):
and as the second largest searchengine, people are looking
for answers to their questions on YouTube.
