(00:00):
Why consistency isn't your problem.
It's clarity.
look, most people think consistency is about discipline.
Like there's some secret reservoir of willpower other people have access to, and they were somehow standing in the wrong line.
But here's the truth, nobody's gonna tell you.
(00:20):
Consistency has nothing to do with discipline.
Consistency is the natural side effect of having clarity.
So when you know exactly what you're doing and why you're doing it and what the next step looks like, consistency.
Well, that becomes automatic.
It's when you're unclear that everything ends up feeling like a chore, right? And you struggle with consistency.
(00:45):
You're fighting your way through it.
You are forging ahead, pushing onward.
We can come up with a million different phrases, but it's because you lack that clarity.
And look, I've coached business owners for two decades, and the pattern never changes.
People don't struggle to take action.
They struggle to understand what action matters.
(01:10):
So they flail, they dabble, they start three things and finish none and assume they're broken.
And that's totally natural.
But let's be real, they're not broken.
They're overwhelmed.
They don't know where the hell to go next.
Right? And when you're overwhelmed.
The brain does what the brain always does.
It's gonna shut down your operational tasks.
(01:30):
It's gonna cripple you right where you are and stop you, and there's nothing you're gonna be able to do about it.
That's why the RISE framework exists.
It gives you a way to stop the spinning, take a breath, and reset, because if you don't reset, you can't see straight.
When you reset, you can identify the real issue, and in nine outta 10 cases.
(01:53):
The real issue behind inconsistency is gonna be the foggy definition of success.
You don't know what a win looks like, so everything else feels like a loss.
And who wants to show up every day feeling like they're losing? I know.
I don't.
Pretty sure you don't either.
Otherwise, you wouldn't be listening to this.
Right? it's not, nobody has a loser's mentality.
I've never believed in that.
(02:14):
I've thought actually that was the ultimate mark of somebody who lacked clarity.
When somebody would tell someone else, Hey man, you gotta lose this mentality right there.
Do they, 'cause they're doing something, maybe they're just not doing it right, or they're just not doing it to their best advantage, or they're not doing it in a way that's benefiting themselves or their business right now, but they're doing something, they're having some form of consistency, but it's that clarity that they're lacking in.
(02:39):
And it's why even though they may be consistent, they feel like they're losing because of the proverbial chicken with the head cut off running around.
Peck, Peck, Peck doing a million things and getting nothing actually done.
So let's think about content.
You get on your phone, you open the app, and suddenly your mind goes blank.
(03:02):
Not because you don't have ideas.
You might have a million ideas, but because you can't see the one idea that matters.
Right here, right now.
Clarity is choosing one.
one of those ideas, not 20 of them.
One a simple thought, a single tip, one story.
(03:26):
When you simplify that far down, consistency, well, man, hell, consistency finally has a chance.
You have that opportunity because you're focusing on what matters.
Brick.
By brick.
You can't build a house by just snapping your fingers.
It's not, I dream a genie that might be too old of a reference.
We'll see.
(03:47):
So look, every time I'm doing a marketing riff, your riff of the week is this and the riff, just so you know, that's that actionable item to take away from this entire, you know, whatever, three to five minutes, whatever this is gonna be.
Your riff of the week is simple.
Consistency comes from clarity, not motivation.
(04:10):
Motivation is gonna burn you out and put you in a box 10 years too soon.
But clarity repeats itself.
Clarity gives you the vision.
Clarity gives you the ability to see what's gonna work and what's gonna happen in your future when you stop trying to be consistent in everything and instead get clear.
(04:33):
On the one or two things that actually move your business forward.
Consistency becomes natural and it works.
It's gonna be consistency with something that's hitting the mark, something that's reaching your audience and making people feel something good, bad, or indifferent, but at least you're reaching them, right? I mean, that's the goal.
The goal is always to reach the right people, even if it's not a hit every time.
(04:56):
If you have clarity in what you're reaching out with.
At least you're telling people at that time and place, Hey, look, this is what I'm doing.
This is what I'm all about.
You with me? 'cause you only want those like-minded people with you anyway.
So look, when the consistency becomes natural, it's gonna become lighter, it becomes more doable, and the identity shift starts to happen, right? Like you're gonna have this great shift internally where you stop seeing yourself as somebody who's just struggling to stay consistent and instead.
(05:28):
You're gonna start seeing yourself as a person who shows up because they know exactly what matters, right? I mean, we've all been down that road.
I'm down that road myself doing this right now For you, it's taking 20 years of things I've done behind closed doors for people.
I've, spent two decades essentially locked away like I'm a Buffalo Bill's victim in Silence of the Lambs, putting the lotion on the skin.
(05:54):
And I finally climbed outta that well and decided, you know what? I got a whole lot to share with people from decades of helping business owners and helping people do everything from just getting out from under themselves to building sales and marketing funnels, to complete rebranding, from both personal level people, one, one off offices of just, solopreneurs to, you know, corporate clients like IBM.
(06:17):
So to me.
My moment was coming outta that.
Well, climbing up and telling Buffalo Bill, get the hell outta my house because I'm gonna share this with people now.
And that's consistency, right? that's getting clarity in what I'm gonna do, and then being consistent by putting easy and small pieces in front of me that I can knock down to start building what I'm looking to do as my overall goal.
(06:44):
So look, if you feeling inconsistent right now.
The solution is definitely not to push harder.
Don't go kill yourself when you already don't feel consistent.
That's insane.
Take the step back.

It's gonna be about consistency.
And stop beating yourself up.
Take a moment to step back.
Build clarity.
No more of this BS of I need to try harder and do more and, and work a thousand hours in a, you know, 80 hour week or whatever chaos that you're doing right now, that's gonna get you nowhere but just dead, man.
(07:49):
I mean, it's, I hate saying it like that, but if that's not the truest thing to say, don't know what is, because I've seen it happen.
I've seen people literally work themselves to death and it's the most awful thing in the world because.
Nobody remembers those people because they're already gone and there's nothing left for them to say or do because it was the end.
(08:14):
So no more of that.
No more.
I need to try harder.
Step back and start focusing on clarity.
Find that one brick.
Let's build one brick together.
And hey, wherever you find this, let me know.
post anywhere on my socials, you can respond to me anywhere and just be like, Hey, Steve.
