Lynn Jordan: identify and resist the (00:48):

Lynn Jordan: subliminal influence all around (00:49):

Lynn Jordan: us. (00:51):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Quick question for you, remembering the last time you (00:52):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: felt your blood pressure shoot up because of a headline, did (00:55):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: you ever stop to wonder who actually planted that little (00:58):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: grenade in your feed? (01:00):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: The average person scrolls (01:02):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: through more content than the (01:03):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: length of a football field every (01:05):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: single day. (01:06):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: And a lot of what we stumble upon online feels less like (01:07):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: information and more like emotional tripwires deliberately (01:10):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: placed by people who aren't just trying to inform you. (01:14):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: They're trying to move you, (01:16):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: often without you even realizing (01:18):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: it. (01:19):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: It's a subtle, almost invisible (01:20):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: war for your mind, and most of (01:22):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: us are walking right into the (01:24):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: crossfire unarmed. (01:25):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: But stick around, because by the (01:27):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: end of this, you'll walk away (01:28):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: with a powerful five step mental (01:29):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: armor kit, turning you from a (01:31):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: passive target into a sharp, (01:33):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: discerning detective. (01:34):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: The problem is that this manipulation isn't new. (01:37):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: People have been trying to sway opinions for centuries. (01:40):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: What is new is the terrifying (01:42):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: speed and sophistication of it (01:44):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: all. (01:46):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: We're not just talking about a biased newspaper anymore. (01:47):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Now a single bot network can blast a fabricated claim across (01:50):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: the planet before anyone can even begin to fact check it. (01:53):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: It's like trying to put out a forest fire with a teacup. (01:56):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: We see it constantly. (02:00):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Whether it's a troll army amplifying a divisive hashtag, a (02:01):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: convincing AI deepfake, or an algorithm pushing content that (02:04):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: confirms your existing biases, keeping you in a comfortable yet (02:08):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: dangerous echo chamber. (02:11):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: The goal is an accuracy of truth. (02:13):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: It's pure, unadulterated reaction. (02:16):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: They want to trigger outrage, fear, or smug certainty. (02:18):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Anything that keeps your thumb moving and your brain idling, (02:21):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: they use classic emotional appeals, false dichotomies, and (02:24):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: personal attacks to bypass your rational mind and go straight (02:28):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: for your gut. (02:31):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: There's a book titled Subliminal Seduction by Wilson Bryan Key (02:33):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: that explores this. (02:37):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: A potent example he gave was (02:38):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: from when the movie The Exorcist (02:40):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: was released. (02:41):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: People were reportedly vomiting (02:42):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: and running out of the theater, (02:44):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: physically made ill by what they (02:45):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: were seeing. (02:46):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: It wasn't just the subject matter. (02:48):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: The creators were accused of (02:49):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: inserting split second frames of (02:51):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: a demonic face and other (02:52):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: disturbing images. (02:53):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Even though the frames move (02:55):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: faster than the eyes could (02:56):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: consciously register, the brain (02:57):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: allegedly picked up on them, (02:59):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: causing those physical (03:00):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: reactions. (03:01):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: He also described how graphic artists hide subliminal images (03:03):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: in ads, like sexual symbols and ice cubes, to subconsciously (03:06):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: sway you into buying a product. (03:09):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: And here's the kicker if you're (03:12):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: thinking, not me, I'm too smart (03:14):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: for that. (03:16):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Congratulations, you've just exhibited symptom number one. (03:16):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: That overconfidence is exactly what manipulators count on. (03:20):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: We're all wired for emotion, and (03:23):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: that makes us all potential (03:25):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: targets. (03:26):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: The question isn't if you've been manipulated, but how often. (03:27):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: So why should you care? (03:32):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Every unearned emotion you feel, every manufactured outrage or (03:34):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: baseless fear, is a withdrawal from your most precious (03:37):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: resource, your attention. (03:40):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: And that account isn't limitless. (03:42):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: The impact is deep and insidious. (03:45):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Researchers have found that emotional and negative news (03:47):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: drives the spread of viral videos and strongly influences (03:50):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: people's judgments, even when they don't trust the source. (03:53):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: The emotional content can (03:56):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: override the brain's slower, (03:58):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: more critical evaluation of (03:59):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: credibility. (04:00):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Now multiply that by the hundreds of micro stories you (04:02):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: probably skim through every day. (04:05):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: The constant barrage of manipulative content, loaded (04:07):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: language, carefully chosen images and sounds all adds up. (04:10):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: The cumulative effect is (04:14):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: devastating both personally and (04:16):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: societally. (04:18):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: It leads to pervasive anxiety, (04:19):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: deep societal polarization, and (04:20):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: a nagging feeling of (04:23):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: powerlessness. (04:24):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: And here's the chilling part the (04:25):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: algorithms that feed you this (04:27):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: content are practically designed (04:28):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: for that. (04:30):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: They don't care about truth. (04:31):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: They care about engagement. (04:32):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: They learn what makes you react and give you more of it, (04:34):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: trapping you into a self-reinforcing loop that makes (04:37):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: it harder to think clearly. (04:40):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: This isn't just about individual well-being. (04:41):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: It's about the very fabric of our public discourse. (04:44):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: It can feel overwhelming, but (04:47):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: you don't have to stay on (04:49):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: defense. (04:50):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: The solution is the five piece mental armor kit. (04:51):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: You can build your own mental armor. (04:54):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: This isn't about becoming a cynic. (04:56):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: It's about becoming a discerning individual who can navigate the (04:58):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: digital world with confidence. (05:00):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Let's equip you with this mental kit. (05:02):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Armor piece number one. (05:05):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Your immediate defense is the emotion scan. (05:07):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: That gut punch feeling from a headline. (05:10):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: That's your amygdala, your (05:12):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: brain's emotional center going (05:14):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: into overdrive and amygdala (05:15):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: hijack. (05:17):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Manipulators are masters at triggering it. (05:18):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Here's the trick. (05:21):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Next time a post makes you physically react, pause. (05:22):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Then name the emotion out loud. (05:26):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Say I'm feeling angry or this is making me anxious. (05:29):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Neuroscience shows that simply (05:33):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: naming an emotion activates your (05:35):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: prefrontal cortex, the rational (05:37):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: part of your brain, and could (05:39):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: significantly diminish the (05:41):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: amygdala's response. (05:42):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: It's like hitting the mental brakes. (05:43):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Once you've labeled it, ask, is this emotion, data or drama? (05:46):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Is it a genuine concern I need (05:50):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: to investigate or is it just (05:52):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: noise designed to provoke a (05:54):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: reaction? (05:55):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: If it's drama, acknowledge it and keep scrolling. (05:56):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Don't feed the beast. (05:59):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: If it feels like data, you're ready for armor. (06:00):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Piece two the three click rule. (06:03):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: You've decided the information might be data. (06:06):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Now apply the three click rule to assess its credibility. (06:08):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: First click check the immediate (06:12):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: source who published this a news (06:14):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: organization, a blog, a random (06:16):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: account. (06:18):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Look for an About Us section or a mission statement. (06:19):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Does it look professional and state its biases? (06:22):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Second, click check the source's source. (06:25):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Where did they get their information if it cites a study? (06:27):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Can you click through to it? (06:31):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: If it quotes an expert, can you verify their credentials? (06:32):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Trace the information back to its origin. (06:35):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Third, click check the source's funding. (06:38):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: This is critical. (06:41):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Who's paying for this information? (06:42):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Look for donor lists, parent (06:44):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: companies or institutional (06:46):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: affiliations. (06:47):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Is it funded by a political group or an industry lobby? (06:48):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Understanding the financial (06:52):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: backing can reveal significant (06:53):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: biases. (06:54):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: If you hit a dead end, a 404 (06:56):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: page, an anonymous author, or a (06:58):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: shady nonprofit with no (07:00):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: transparency, downgrade that (07:01):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: information. (07:03):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: It's entertainment, not fact. (07:04):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Don't base your worldview on it. (07:06):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Next is Armor piece number three. (07:09):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: The statistic sniff test numbers look official, but they're often (07:11):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: BS in a lab coat. (07:15):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Use the statistic sniff test by asking for rapid fire questions. (07:16):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: What's the sample size and is it representative? (07:21):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: A study of quote unquote average Americans that only surveyed one (07:24):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: neighborhood isn't representative, no matter how (07:28):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: many people they asked. (07:30):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Who funded it? (07:32):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: If a sugar company funds a study (07:33):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: claiming sugar is healthy, (07:35):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: that's a massive conflict of (07:36):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: interest. (07:38):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Was it peer reviewed? (07:39):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: This is the gold standard. (07:41):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: It means independent experts have scrutinized the study. (07:42):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: If not, it's an untested claim. (07:45):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Is the axis on the graph manipulated? (07:48):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: A graph can make a tiny change (07:51):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: look like a massive spike by (07:52):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: chopping the y axis or (07:54):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: selectively picking start and (07:55):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: end points. (07:57):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Always check the labels and scale. (07:58):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Also, be aware of correlation (08:01):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: versus causation and check if (08:03):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: numbers are absolute versus (08:05):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: relative. (08:07):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: If the answer to any of these questions is missing or vague, (08:07):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: don't trust the stat. (08:10):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Armor piece number four the frame flip. (08:13):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Every story you encounter comes with a frame. (08:16):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: How facts are presented, the (08:19):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: language chosen, and the context (08:20):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: omitted. (08:22):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: This shapes your perception. (08:23):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: one outlet's. (08:24):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: "Freedom fighters" are another's "rioters." (08:25):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: "Tax cuts stimulate growth" (08:29):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: versus "tax breaks for the (08:30):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: wealthy." (08:32):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: The words carry inherent biases. (08:33):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Here's the task. (08:36):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: When you see a contentious (08:37):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: story, find a report on it from (08:39):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: an outlet with an opposing (08:40):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: political view. (08:41):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Pay attention to the language (08:43):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: who is quoted and what is (08:44):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: emphasized. (08:46):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Then try to write a neutral (08:47):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: headline that both sides would (08:48):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: have to agree is factually (08:50):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: accurate. (08:51):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: If you can't, you've just spotted the point where (08:52):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: objective reporting ends and biased framing begins. (08:54):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Armor piece number five. (08:58):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: This is your ultimate defense. (09:00):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: The twenty four hour shared delay. (09:01):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Instinctive sharing is the currency of propagandists. (09:04):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: They design content to go viral before anyone can verify it. (09:07):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: So here's the rule. (09:10):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Set a personal policy to not (09:12):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: share any sensational or outrage (09:13):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: inducing content until you slept (09:15):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: on it. (09:17):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Wait twenty four hours. (09:18):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Why? (09:20):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Studies show that false rumors (09:20):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: take, on average, about twelve (09:22):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: hours to be debunked or (09:24):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: clarified. (09:25):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Follow up reports emerge and fact checkers do their work. (09:26):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: This delay also gives your brain a chance to cool down, moving (09:30):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: you from reactive to thoughtful. (09:33):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: You'll become a trusted source, not the friend who cried wolf. (09:36):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: All right, if this is clicking (09:40):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: for you, follow me and hit that (09:41):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: subscribe button. (09:43):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: And if you find this useful, share it to spread the word. (09:44):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: After giving it the full armor kit treatment, of course. (09:47):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: So let's have a practice round and take this armor for a spin. (09:51):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: You see, a headline "breaking new study shows chocolate cures (09:54):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Depression!" emotion scan. (09:58):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Immediate reaction is hope you label it hopeful. (10:01):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Too good to be true data. (10:04):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Or drama. (10:05):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Let's check three click rule. (10:06):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: The article is on (10:09):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: sweetlifeDaily.com a click (10:10):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: reveals it's a vague lifestyle (10:12):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: site. (10:14):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: They cite a study from the Global Cocoa Council. (10:14):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: A final click shows the council is an industry group funded by (10:18):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: major chocolate manufacturers. (10:21):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Red flags everywhere. (10:23):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Statistics. (10:25):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Sniff test. (10:25):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: The article claims a seventy (10:27):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: five percent reduction in (10:28):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: depressive symptoms, but the (10:29):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: sample size was twenty rats, not (10:31):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: humans. (10:33):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: It was industry funded and not peer reviewed. (10:34):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: The test fails spectacularly. (10:37):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Frame flip. (10:40):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: The original headline frames it as a cure. (10:41):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: A neutral headline would be "preliminary Rodent research (10:44):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: suggests cocoa may affect mood. (10:47):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Human trials needed." (10:49):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: You spotted the manipulative frame 24 hour share delay. (10:50):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: You resist sharing. (10:55):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Sure enough, reputable sources debunked the claim within a day. (10:56):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: You've just avoided spreading a false medical belief. (10:59):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Then there's a social pressure defence. (11:03):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: What about when friends and family share garbage, (11:05):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: confronting them can be awkward. (11:08):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Instead of full debunking, try gentler, more curious approach. (11:09):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Here's a few lines to try. (11:13):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: "That's an interesting claim. (11:15):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Where did you see that? (11:17):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: I'm trying to get better at checking sources." (11:18):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Or "wow, that's pretty triggering. (11:20):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: I'm trying to figure out if it's data or drama. (11:22):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: What makes you think it's (11:24):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: reliable?" The key is to sound (11:25):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: genuinely curious, not (11:28):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: confrontational. (11:29):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: You're modeling good behavior and giving them an out. (11:30):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: The goal isn't to win an argument, it's to raise our (11:33):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: guard collectively This armor kit needs maintenance. (11:35):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Mental armor rusts if neglected once a week. (11:40):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Pick one story and run the full kit retroactively. (11:43):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Internalize the process. (11:46):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: Build that critical thinking (11:48):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: muscle until the second nature, (11:49):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: when you realize of much of what (11:51):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: you encounter is poorly sourced (11:53):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: or biased, something profound (11:54):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: happens. (11:56):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: You'll see that skepticism isn't cynicism. (11:57):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: It's a form of calibration. (11:59):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: It's setting your internal radar to discern truth from noise. (12:01):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: As a bonus, your anxiety levels will drop. (12:05):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: You'll gain a sense of agency. (12:08):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: And that, my friend, is incredibly liberating. (12:09):
undefined

Lynn Jordan: In conclusion, you now have a (12:13):
undefined

Gabe Ortiz becomes a third-highest ranking officer in all of Texas while his younger brother Larry climbs the ranks in Puro Tango Blast, a notorious Texas Prison gang. Gabe doesn’t know all the details of his brother’s nefarious dealings, and he’s made a point not to ask, to protect their relationship.
