It is the Fresh King Benjamin, yourhost for Comedy Rumble, coming to you
live with Comedy 7 winner Ray Earl.
Ray, how you doing tonight?
I am doing great.
How are you?
I'm feeling pretty fantastic.
I am looking forward to our Comedy RumbleAll Stars show in just about two weeks on
February 7th, where we're going to get allof the eight different winners of Comedy

(00:26):
Rumble, including you, together for anultimate Comedy Rumble battle at Wiseguys.
I'm really looking forward to that.
How are you feeling about that?
I'm feeling great, but I'm also verynervous because there are some heavy
hitters who won and I am very excited.
I might have to get anew outfit, so we'll see.
Oh my god, I can't waitto see your outfit.
So Ray, tell us how, how didyou get into stand up comedy?

(00:48):
Uh, I had an aunt.
And we were all, my aunts andmy mom, we were all going to,
my background's in architecture.
And so we were all going to the MichiganDesign Center to look at fabric.
And that was my choice.
And so I was just in the carclowning, having a good time.
And my aunt said, you missed your mark.
You should have done comedy.

(01:09):
Mm. And how, how long from thatconversation until you, you went up for
your first, your first time trying it?
I would say roughly about five years.
Wow.
Okay.
So you bet on it for five years.
And then five years later, you were like, you know what?
My aunt knew what she was talking about.
Yeah.
Yep.
Yep.
And how long have you beendoing standup comedy since then?

(01:31):
Since you started?
Gosh, almost 14 years now?
Whoa, that's such a funjourney to have been on.
Um, you have like a favorite momentfrom your, from your time on stage
that you remember of like somethingthat stands out as like, oh, that
was a really great moment on stage.
I would have to saywinning, uh, Comedy Rumble.

(01:55):
That was a pretty awesome night.
That was pretty, that was prettygood and honestly unexpected.
Yeah, so I was very excited.
Oh good, I'm so glad.
It was, it was such a great night.
You're such a fantastic performer.
Um, as a comedian though, sinceyou've been doing this for 14 years,
I imagine that when people find outthat you're a stand up comic, uh,
this happens to me all the time too.
Where, uh, Someone will findout I'm a comic and they'll

(02:17):
say, well tell me a joke.
And I'm just curious, how does thatmake you feel when someone, when
someone says tell me a joke right afterthey find out that you're a comic?
Well, I always go to my, uh,standby joke that I, uh, always
tell when they ask me that.
And it's a pre woke joke.
I love this already.

(02:38):
Okay, and I always say, um, mothsare butterflies with down syndrome.
That was the first joke that I ever told.
Oh, that's such a good joke.
That's great.
I love that.
That's a fantastic response.

(02:58):
Um, do you have a favorite street
joke?
What would be a favoritestreet joke for me?
Hmm.
You know, I sat and mulled overthis for the longest, and I really,

(03:20):
I can't think of one.
I don't know, like, I will saythat anything by Earthquake
Comedian, I would say that wouldbe a good street joke for me.
You know, just anythingby Earthquake Comedian.
Do you want
to hear, do you want to hearmy favorite street joke?
Yes, please, please.
This is
literally a joke that I was told onthe street when I was asking people
for their favorite street jokes.

(03:41):
So, uh, there's a penguinand his car isn't working.
And so he takes the car into the shop.
And while the car's in the shop,he goes next door because there's
a little ice cream, uh, shop.
And he goes and gets ice cream.
He eats a little ice cream sundae.
But because there's a penguin andjust has flippers, he kind of gets,
when he's eating it, he kind of getsthe ice cream all over his face.
And, uh, then he goes back to the,to the car shop and the mechanic

(04:06):
comes up to him and says, Well,it looks like you blew a seal.
And the penguin kind of wipes his faceand says, No, it's just ice cream.
That was pretty gay.
But very funny.
It's a pretty gay joke.
yes, pretty gay joke.
Yes.
Well, Ray, I am so excited to have youon Comedy Rumble All Stars on February

(04:27):
