VIC Advent Devotions

Jerusalem–built as a city that is bound firmly together, to which the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! May they be secure who love you! Peace be within your walls and security within your towers! (Psalm 122:3-4a, 6-7)

There is non like You among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like yours. All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name. For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God. (Psalm 86:8-10)

I wait for the Lord; my soul waits, and in his word I hope; O Israel, hope in the LORD! For with the LORD there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption. And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities. (Psalm 130:5, 7-8)

For the Lord will not forsake His people; he will not abandon his heritage; for justice will return to the righteous, and all the upright in heart will follow it. (Psalm 94:14-15)

"The Lord says to my Lord, 'Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.'" Psalm 110:1

Oh sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. The LORD has made known his salvation; he has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the nations. He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. (Psalm 98:1-3)

For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot. (Psalm 92:11-13)

He shall cry to me, “You are my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation.” And I will make him the firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth. My steadfast love I will keep for him forever, and my covenant will stand firm for him. I will establish his offspring forever and his throne as the days of the heavens. (Psalm 89:26-29)

But it will be said of Zion, "Every nation is born in her, and the Most High Himself will make her secure.” The Lord will write down in his record of the nations: “This one was born there.” There will be singing and dancing, for all will find their home in you. (Psalm 87:5-7).

O Shepherd of Israel, hear us; You who led Joseph like a flock, O One enthroned between the cherubim, shine! As You lead Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh, stir up Your power and come to save us. (Psalm 80:1-3)

O God our Savior, help us; because of your glorious name, rescue us; yes, forgive our sins for Your name's sake. (Psalm 79:9)

Give the king your justice, O God, and your righteousness to the royal son!

Shout for joy to God all the earth; sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise! Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies come cringing to you. All the earth worships you and sings praises to you; they sing praises to your name.”

Praise is due to You, O God, in Zion and to you shall vows be performed. O you who hear prayer, to you shall all flesh come. 

Awake! Why are you sleeping, O Lord? Rouse yourself! Do not reject us forever! Why do you hide your face? Why do you forget our affliction and oppression?” (Psalm 44:23-24)

In sacrifice and offering you have not delighted, but you have given me an open ear. Burnt offering and sin offering you have not required. Then I said, “Behold, I have come; in the scroll of the book it is written of me: I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.” (Psalm 40:6-8)

Turn to me and be kind to me– I am lonely and miserable.  The troubles of my heart have become great. Take me out of my distress.  See how poor and miserable I am, and take away all my sins (Psalm 25:16-18)
