Welcome back to the When Dreams & Action Collide Podcast! I’m your host, Joy Lanae, Your Productivity Powerhouse. Today, we're diving into the concept of finding what makes you buoyant, especially during difficult times or situations.
I first heard about buoyancy from a minister I admire, and it profoundly changed how I navigate challenging seasons in life. To give you some context, the term buoyant comes from the word buoy, which means to keep afloat, support, sustain, or encourage. Just like a life vest keeps you from drowning, certain habits and practices can keep us afloat during tough times.
In this episode, I’ll share my personal list of things that help me stay buoyant, which have evolved over the years but largely remained the same. We all face difficult seasons, and having strategies to stay afloat can make a significant difference.
Here are three key practices that help me stay buoyant:
Listening to Inspirational & Uplifting Content: Whether it's music, Bible messages, or motivational speakers, finding content that uplifts and inspires you can be a game-changer. I'll share examples of how specific messages have helped me through tough times.
Talking with Close Friends or Family: Opening up to those who uplift and challenge you can be incredibly beneficial. I'll discuss the importance of vulnerability and choosing the right people to talk to.
Writing Things Down: Even if you're not a regular journaler, writing things out can help clear your mind and sometimes lead to solutions. I'll explain how this practice has helped me during challenging times.
Additionally, I'll touch on other practices like reading inspirational books and serving others, which can also help you stay buoyant.
It's important to find a few go-to strategies to help you navigate difficult seasons. While you can't always control the duration of these times, you can control how you respond and move through them.
I hope you find this episode helpful and that it gives you some ideas for staying buoyant. I'd love to hear your thoughts and any strategies you use, so please drop a comment or DM me on Instagram @hello.joylanae.
Thank you for tuning in, and remember, you have the power to stay afloat even in the toughest times.
