Welcome to episode 4 of Winderland, hosted by Giuseppe, broadcasting directly from Southern Italy. In this special installment, we delve into the intricate world of wine tasting examination, focusing on three core aspects: visual, olfactory, and taste olfactory.

Today's episode features an extraordinary vertical wine tasting session, showcasing two Barolo wines from Piemonte, both produced by De Simone. The spotlight is on the same grape variety, 100% Nebbiolo, but from two distinct vintages: 2019 and 2020. Get ready to explore the fascinating differences and nuances between these two exceptional wines.

Starting with the visual examination, Giuseppe describes the 2019 Barolo as having a beautiful garnet red hue with orange reflections, while the 2020 vintage exhibits a fading ruby red color with garnet tones. Both wines display a high consistency, indicative of their substantial alcohol content.

Moving to the olfactory analysis, Giuseppe notes the intense aromatic profiles of both vintages. The 2019 Barolo offers aromas of red cherry, red currant, dry herbs like thyme, purple flowers, and savory spices from the oak. In contrast, the 2020 Barolo is characterized by boysenberries, raspberries, dry red roses, and oak aromas such as cocoa, dark chocolate, and sweet cinnamon.

Finally, the taste olfactory examination reveals that both wines have a crisp acidity, with the 2019 vintage being slightly less tannic than the 2020. Both wines confirm their full-bodied structure, making them high-quality selections.

Welcome wine lovers, it's me Giuseppe with episode 4 of Winderland,
directly from Southern Italy.
Today's topic is wine tasting examination, which covers three aspects,
visual olfactory and taste olfactory.
Today is a special one because it will be a vertical wine tasting.

(00:33):
Means two wines from Piemonte, the same producer, which is De Simone,
same grape, 100% Nebbiolo, so we're talking about Barolo, but different vintages, 2019 and 2020.
Wow, that's an amazing episode, isn't it?

(01:01):
All right, let's start with a visual examination.
Let's see, 2019 has a beautiful garnet red with orange hues.
Instead, 2020 Barolo shows a fading ruby red color, with some garnet hues.

(01:21):
Then, moving forward on the consistency.
Both show their consistency minus because of the presence of a high amount of
alcohol. Next step, intensity.
It is intense, because I can smell different family's aromas. 2019, let's see.

(01:47):
I guess some red cherry, red currant, dry herbs like thyme, purple flower,
finish with the savory spices notes from the oak.
On the other side, 2020 instead.
Boy berries, raspberries, dry red roses, finishing with oak aroma like cocoa,

(02:15):
dark chocolate and the sweetness of the cinnamon.
So, overall, both vintages are fine in terms of quality wine.
Then, on the last part of our wine examination, we got taste olfactory. 2019 Acid's wise taste,

(02:38):
Crisp,
Just like 2020 Barolo On the tannins,
Let's see 2019 is slightly less tannic than 2020 To finish, I can tell easily
That their structure confirmed from the full-body wine.

(03:02):
Alrighty. Alrighty, people. Let's wrap that up. If you have enjoyed this complimentary
wine tasting class, but you want to get more details, send me a DM on my Instagram page at Winderland.
Enjoy your day. Ciao.
