Speaker 1 (00:09):
Hello, and welcome to the forty nine Ers First and
ten podcast, presented by Cisco. Ten minutes of the most
up to date forty nine Ers news, First Thing in
the morning. I'm your host Brionna McDonald, and joining me
is team reporter Lindsay Polaris. Lindsay, Happy game Day. How
excited are you to open up the season at home
(00:29):
at Levi Stadium.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Happy game Day to Youbree and to the faithful. We
made it.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
It is officially kick off for the twenty twenty four season.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
I could not be more excited.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
I think it's wild that the forty nine ers have
six primetime games. Really no better way to ring in
this twenty twenty four campaign. I think there's a lot
of close connections in this game that just add more
layers to it. So really just such an exciting way
to start the year. And I anticipate that the faithful
(01:02):
are gonna show up big the way they always do.
I'm expecting a really electric atmosphere out there today, amazing.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
The forty nine Ers had a busy weekend ahead of
tonight's game. First, with their final practice of the week
on Saturday. Lindsay, what were the important takeaways from that practice,
and what was head coach Kash Shanahan's game status report
for tonight's game.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Let's start with the status report.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
We have defensive linemen in tour gross matos and linebacker
d winners. They were ruled out on Saturday. And then
we've got three question marks for the forty nine ers
headed into tonight. Safety TALANOA Hufanga is doubtful as we
all know, he is working back from an ACL injury
he suffered a week eleven of last season.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
And then we have two questionable players.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
Running back Christian McCaffrey's dealing with a calf and achilles
and then offensive lineman Aaron Banks who broke his pinky.
Both those players questionable, so we will find out if
they're going to suit up take the field at the
same time everyone else ninety minutes before kick, so stay
tuned before that. One thing I will say is that
(02:06):
Christian McCaffrey and Aaron Bangs both were limited participants all week,
so I think that generally tends to lean towards a
positive outcome for tonight that they'll suit up, But obviously
we won't know for sure until that injury where that
final inactives report comes out and then just as far
(02:26):
as practice, this was the very first week that everyone
was back together. That's something that head coach Kyle Shanahan
talked about. Trent Williams, Brandon I, you completed their first
week of practice since getting their contract situation settled.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Obviously a positive, you know.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
Shanahan went on to comment and say that Trent Williams
looks incredibly in shape. Having him back in practice is
more just getting him comfortable with the rest of the
offensive line and getting everybody ready for game day.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
So it looks like the forty nine ers are in
good shape.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Honestly, I don't really expect Trent Williams or Brandon I
to skip a beat tonight.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
All right, thanks, Lindsay.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
We'll keep an eye out for that inactive's list before
kickoff tonight. But before we talk game day, there was
an awesome celebration happening at Levi Studium yesterday to honor
the newest member of the forty nine Ers Hall of Fame,
Frank Gore and Lindsey. You were there.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Take us into the night.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
What was it like.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
It was a very special celebration for a very special
player in Frank Gore. He is the thirty first player
to be inducted into the forty nine Ers Hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
He put on that red jacket for the very first time.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
And I think my favorite part of the night was
the unveiling of the Frank Gore statue that will be
placed in the forty nine Ers Museum in the forty
nine Ers Hall of Fame, with the rest of the
members of that Hall of Fame group and just so
many emotional, heartwarming speeches. His former teammate Alex Smith was
(03:54):
the MC for the night. Then we had Miran Norris speak.
Patrick Willis was in attendance, Brian Young was in attendance.
Just a ton of forty nine or greats were there,
a ton of alumni. I'm not naming them all, but
there was a great, great alumni picture that took place
at the end of the night, and the stage was
just filled with names that everyone will recognize over the
(04:17):
course of forty nine Ers history, you know. I think
one of my favorite parts of Frank Gore's speech was
him his great appreciation that he has for the York
into Barlow family.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Just a great tribute to the organization. He got emotional
it was.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
It was really cool to watch, and it's you know,
it's his rightful place in forty nine Ers history of
Frank Gore finished as the franchise rushing yards leader. He
had sixteen one thousand career rushing yards. That's third most
in the NFL. So just a huge congratulations to Frank Gore.
And you know everyone was kind of just like looking
(04:56):
ahead and saying, you know, this is step one, and
you know, every everyone's really excited to see how his
campaign to Canton all shakes out. But you know, certainly
everyone in attendance there believes that's the next step for
Frank Gore.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
How cool. Congratulations to forty nine Ers legend Frank Gore.
The party for him does not stop there. For tonight's
halftime show, the team is celebrating his induction into the
forty nine Ers Hall of Fame. So if you can't
be there at Levi Stadium to watch it happen in person,
you can tune into the forty nine Ers YouTube channel.
We'll be live streaming the entire halftime show, so you
(05:34):
don't miss a thing. Make sure to check that out.
And now that we're talking about game Day, I do
have a quick reminder for the faithful who will be
at Levi Stadium tonight, and that's to get to this
stadium early. The team is expecting a packed out crowd
tonight and there's a traffic and parking advisory around Levi
Stadium today because of that. So for my expert game
(05:55):
day fans, make sure you allow some extra time for travel,
carpool or take public transportation, and make sure you're in
your seat before kickoff for a smooth and successful Monday
night football experience. I just wanted to get that word
out before it really gets busy tonight. But Lindsey, let's
get into this matchup a little bit. Jets Niners Monday
(06:16):
Night Football. Do you have any bold predictions for tonight's game?
Speaker 3 (06:19):
You know, I think we've talked so much over the
course of the off season, preseason, like really starting in
free agency, that the forty nine ers have invested a
lot in revamping that defensive line, and I think we're
going to see the fruits of that labor tonight. So
I'm gonna go and say we're gonna have.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Bare minimum three.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
Sacks and I think at least one each for Nick
Bosa and Leonard Floyd. You know, I think those are
two of the players that everybody's excited to see play together,
bookending that defensive line.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
And yeah, they're certainly going to have their work cut
out for them.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
Because Aaron Rodgers is incredibly talented quarterback. But I think
I think we're gonna see big things from that d line.
I love it.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
I love to see it. You know. I was thinking
of the offensive side of the ball and having everyone
there reunited before Monday Night football. I think it's going
to be electric there. So I'm thinking, you know, some
fiery offense, a strong defense. We've got a good matchup tonight, lindsay.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
I am so excited. We're going to be the only
game on So.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
Everyone please make sure to tune in to your favorite team,
the San Francisco forty nine Ers, kicking off that twenty
twenty four season.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
Yeah, I think it's gonna be a great matchup, exactly,
