Speaker 1 (00:09):
Hello, faithful, Welcome to a breaking news Move the Chains
episode of the first and ten podcast. I'm your host
Brian McDonald, and today we're diving into the nitty gritty
of the forty nine ers twenty twenty four initial fifty
three man roster. The preseason is officially over and the
forty nine Ers have made their selections. We'll break down
each position group and see what changes have been made,

(00:31):
who's new, and what this all means for the upcoming season.
So let's get into it. Let's start with the quarterbacks room.
The forty nine Ers are sticking with three quarterbacks for
a third consecutive year. Brock Perty, who took the NFL
world by storm and earned his first Pro Bowl nod
last season, is back as your starting QB. Backing him
up our Joshua Dobbs, a veteran acquisition, and Brandon Allen,

(00:54):
who's had a year of experience in Kyle Shanahan's system.
One thing to note, Perty's exact back situation is still undecided,
so keep an eye out on that as we move
closer to the season opener. Moving on to the running backs,
the forty nine Ers ground game remains in good hands
Christian McCaffrey headlines the group, coming off of a fantastic
season where he was named the ap NFL Offensive Player

(01:18):
of the Year and led the league in rushing yards.
Jordan Mason also returns this year, providing depth and reliability
with Kyle Yuschek, the All Pro fullback, he continues his
role as a versatile weapon in the Niners offense. The
newcomers here are fourth round pick Isaac Garrendo and fourth
year vett Patrick Taylor Junior, who comes from the Green

(01:38):
Bay Packers. At wide receiver. The core trio of Deebo,
Samuel Senor, Brandon Ayuk and Juwan Jennings is back. Ronnie
Bell returns, and there are some new faces in the
mix this year. Chris Conley, Ricky Piersoll, and Jacob Cowing
have also joined the roster. The first round draft pick
Ricky Piarsal missed the preseason due to a shoulder issue,

(01:58):
but he's expected to be a key contributor this season. Meanwhile,
fourth round draft pick Jacob Cowing has shown potential as
a punt returner during the preseason. These new editions should
provide additional depth and options for the forty nine ers. Offense,
and it's a small group for the tight end position.
This year, it's just two on the initial roster. George
Kittle returns as one of the league's elite tight ends

(02:20):
after another thousand yard season. Joining him is Jake Tonjes,
a Los Gatos native who spent the last year on
the team's practice squad. On the offensive line, we see
mostly returners and a new addition. The corps remains with
Aaron Banks, Jake Brendle, Spencer Burford, Colton mckivitz, Jalen Moore,
John Fleeciano, and Nick Zekel, while Dominic Pooney is a

(02:40):
new name. Pooney, a third round pick, had a standout
pre season, making three consecutive starts at right guard and
didn't give up a single sack. A couple notes here.
John Fleeciano is expected to land on the injured reserve list,
and left tackle Trent Williams is currently on the reserve
did not report list. The defensive line is where we
see the most changed. The forty nine Ers have added

(03:02):
several new faces, including Leonard Floyd, Malik Collins, Jordan Elliott,
and Yutor Grosmatos. Floyd in particular is a high profile edition,
bringing past rushing power to compliment Nick Bosa. Also on
the roster this year is Javon Hargrave, Robert Beale, Junior,
Kevin Givens, and Sam Okayano. At linebacker, Fred Warner remains

(03:23):
the leader of this group. Joining him are linebackers Curtis Robinson,
free agent addition, Devondre Campbell, senior Demetrius Flannagan Fowls, de Winters,
and seventh round pick Tatum Bethune. Robinson is a first
timer to the initial fifty three man roster after being
a frequently elevated practice squad member in the past. The
cornerback room features Tarbarius Ward and d b Diamedo Leonore

(03:46):
as the mainstays, with new editions including Isaac Yadam and
Ronardo Green. Yadam's edition is notable after a solid season
with New Orleans Saints, and the younger guys like Drell
Ludter Junior and Ronardo Green offer some future potential. Fourth
year vet Ambry Thomas is also making a return this year.
Next the safeties include Talanoa Hufunga, George Odom, JayR. Brown,

(04:08):
and rookie Malik Mustafa. Hufunga is working his way back
from an ACL injury, and there's some uncertainty about his
immediate availability, but it's really good to see that he's
been activated from the unable to perform list. Meanwhile, Mustafa,
a fourth round pick, will add crucial depth to the
team's secondary rounding out the roster, the specialist trio remains

(04:29):
unchanged with kicker Jake Moody, punter Mitch Wishnowski, and long
snapper Taber Pepper. Moody's back after a strong rookie season,
and Wishnowski and Pepper continue to be the forty nine
Ers mister reliables. And that's the breakdown of the forty
nine Ers twenty twenty four initial fifty three man roster.
There are a few new faces and some intriguing storylines

(04:51):
to follow as we head into the season, but make
sure to stay tuned to first and ten for all
of the latest updates and analysis. We'll have an in
depth breakdown of the team's roster coming very soon. But
thanks for joining me today, don't forget to subscribe to
First and ten, and as always, go nin Ers.
