Speaker 1 (00:00):
New ones.
Speaker 2 (00:00):
Would you just asked March BArch got his elbow going
to be out this week? Holton Sup, you guys know that,
soode this Calf, Jordia Watkins, you guys got the high
ankle screen.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
Robert Real Rapp doctor during practice CJ West, CJ went
West hyper extended his knee. We think it's gonna all right.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
But it looks similar to like what happened to Michel
last week. Sacal and everything checked up on this so far,
so I'll feel we'd be lucky.
Speaker 4 (00:28):
From what you saw.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
How practice, though, I was happy with the guys. I'm
excited to see the film.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
You know, it was a huge challenge today, you know,
just having twenty guys out and how many ever we
have on puff and stuff, so there's a challenge to
get through that.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
I thought we needed it and I was real proud
of the guys.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
A number of positions have to step up, especially with
dB D line wide out, but I thought we competed
hard out there. I thought we did a good job
and excited to have a tape from these guys.
Speaker 4 (00:51):
I did you see notice like improvements from a week ago?
Speaker 3 (00:54):
Or does that chester right away?
Speaker 1 (00:56):
Not really?
Speaker 3 (00:56):
I mean it's a different team, We're going against a
different situation. We're in a different spoke to me were
last week. I don't I try my hardest not to
measure ourselves up for some other people in these I
just I just like different schemes and.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Different players to go against.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
It's more about us continue to get our guys the
best they could be, and I think it helps to
go against some different techniques and style to do that.
So so I like this rocket enough work today where
you won't plan on Saturday or I'd like Brock to play. Well,
we'll see, how you know, I haven't decided anything for
sure yet. We'll watch this tape, but you know, I
plan on getting these starters going. There's you know, there
(01:28):
might be a couple of guys I rest, but there's
not a lot of you know, especially on the defense,
there's not a lot of healthy starters as it is.
But I'll figure that out here in the next twenty
four hours. But playing on some starters to play.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
When you say like.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Going up against different guys like mckid, it's getting up
going up against Crosby a lot. You know, did you
see anything.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
Happen in the team periods I mean you can feel
Max every play. I don't, but I don't really sit
in isolate there, but you can feel them every play. No,
we got a couple of them, but I think Coldon
got a couple two. Fun to watch them one on
ones when we do that stuff. I don't know how
many refs we got of it today down numbers, but
that's usually my favorite thing when it comes to those
type things. Were the one on ones, because that's really
when you get to get just isolate on those guys.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
But I don't know. I wasn't over there for.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
That, Kyle.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
You had expressed hope obviously. It was just that that
Dillard could maybe be the answer a screen tackle.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
Well, you have to undo like witch outside.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
At this point without good Yeah, I mean we're always
looking outside, but if there was a lot of guys outside,
they want to be outside, they would be somewhere. So
I was excited to get Dillard in the mix and
compete with that. But we still got Spence going, we
still got Pleasant going, So we got guys competing for
that spot. It would have been nice to have him,
but he could get a rough jury that could be available.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
For a little bit for this time to what he
was doing with. Yeah, yeah, same things before.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
But what is Connor Colby showing you.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
I think he's getting better each week.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
You know, when you get these guys in at first
you try not to judge him too hard because it
takes a while. But the cool thing about alignment, if
you just gradually get better each day, you kind of
learn while we're asking. It's always different techniques. You never
have a guy come out of college who is gonna
have to run as much as we ask him to
his own, So that always takes a number of days,
sometimes a number of years. But I think he's improved
a lot here in the last couple of weeks, and
(03:03):
so I got a high PFF grade. So I know
you guys are on top of him, but I don't
think that.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Was too oft I mean anymore so.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
When we talked to Chris about him a couple of
weeks ago, he said that he was pleasantly surprised by
where he was at in past protection relative to like
in Iowa.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Didn't run pass as much rights.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Has that been Yeah, I would agree with that.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
You don't get to see a lot of that on
Iowa tape, and just his size and stuff he's he
has an advantage with his size being in front of
people and his feet and stuff. I've been able to
do it too, So he's catching up in the run game,
but he's had more of an advantage in the passing
games so far.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
I know you joke, but does the PFF grade matchup
to the forty nine ers grade?
Speaker 3 (03:40):
I don't know. I don't really know they're grade. I
just know they tell me when they have a high grade.
So I know what you guys are gonna ask about.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
So I'm saying, did he did he great out? Well?
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (03:47):
I thought he played well.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
Yeah he did.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
He did well.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
So did the other drawmasta too, so they're get him
more accurate.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
Sorry, as he seemed like the Raiders were doing their
share of antagonized and you guys are really sort of
be in control of sustaining that with the laundry list
of injuries or was there a message today let's try
to keep things in control of these joint practices.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
Yeah, there was a huge message.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
We got an idea what we would walk into and
but it's the same as the game. Like I have
no problem with people fighting, I have a problem with
you know, hurting your football.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Team and losing football games.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
We don't like to be able to fight on game
day because one it's a fifteen yard penalty. We like,
explosives are hard to get by. We don't like to
just give them people and you get it dejective and
it's a lot harder to play with forty five and
forty six, and today I looked at even stronger. I mean,
we were out here with missing twenty guys. We have
some physicians that don't really have enough to go. I
looked at it as if if you get punched and
you throw a punch back, I told the guys that
(04:42):
shows out mentally.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
Week you're out because all you're gonna do.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Is the five guys left to do the whole practice
just because you couldn't handle getting.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
Him in your face mask letting that hurt someone's hand.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
So I thought it was important to truly show how
tough you are by no one throwing a punch. And
from when I saw the guy's handle that because we're
able to come out there, Trent, do you ply with
some teachers like play this season?
Speaker 4 (05:04):
Is that just because sure age doesn't any different? Leader, Jo,
how does he's poor things? Anything to do? With you
getting expense or as much work respects.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
No, it's more about Trent.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
I'm starting to have new plus thirty six year old
rules for certain people. His plus thirty six might be
a little different than our counter and monk staffers. But
you know, Trent's playing at a very high level. Trent
sat it's good a shape. I think it's a lot
further long right now than it was last year. We
love where Trent's at. And you only have so many
bull rushes, so many everything you have in you once
you get to a certain age, and when you put
(05:36):
a guy out there like Trent, I mean, everyone wants
to measure himself up against it. And so I've been
and joint practices with Trent, and it's a little different
for him just going against people, so kind of would
have taken them out of that and be a little
bit smarter with him. Is McCaffrey and Kittle Are they
ready for the regular season anything? Yeah? I do. I
mean you always want to keep working and stuff, but
it's such a fine line. Like those guys, they're ready
(05:59):
physically when it starts, but they know they got to
get through camp and stuff so their bodies can take it.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Throughout the whole year.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
It's really tough when the way those guys play on
Sunday that they can always throughout the year get a
lot of work on Wednesday and Thursdays. So if you
don't get that work now, sometimes you never can catch
it back up. The problem is is stretching it all out.
That's so we got to be smart with those guys.
That's why those guys do get some fed days. It's
kind of naturally happened with these scrimmages because we've had
two on one off, then we have to travel. Now
we have tomorrow off and then we'll see how the
(06:25):
game goes. Haven't decided with all those guys yet, but
there's not a lot of time in the game either.
With how Christian, I guess coming off of last year's
injuries and stuff. Did you check in on him during
camp or just you can tell by how he's practicing way.
I mean, I'm round person a lot, so talked to
him a lot, talked to the trainers a lot, and
Christian is very neurotic about his body, so you know
(06:45):
he's on top of all that stuff.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
But I mean last year was the first training camp
he missed with us.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
Missing training camp isn't always the best way to It's
definitely not the best way to keep you healthy. But
getting hurt in training camp AUSO is a problem too,
So that's kind of those real decisions I have every
single day.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
He's moving really well to the naked eye, to the
GPS trackers saying.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
That it's still Who's Christian?
Speaker 3 (07:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (07:08):
Is it all his numbers the same as twenty three?
Speaker 1 (07:11):
Yeah? Yeah, I think it hit like twenty five yes
from they or something like that. So trying to be
Christian happy. He's doing awesome, realizing as fast as he's been,
it's quick as strong. So it's Christian Cavin judge.
Speaker 4 (07:26):
Of Rockhead really as almost from last year and this
man one off time here to see it and the
prase higher.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Ah yeah, I notice rock had a couple more bud
lights lately. I think that's from Christian again from Kittle.
I'm just joking Rocks not like that. But I think
hanging out with Kittle is awesome. You got a lot
more working and stuff, but it's not necessary stuff you
see on the field. It's just cool to see guys
get closer and just become more comfortable with each other.
(07:52):
And I mean I've been here now, I think three
or four years together, and you know, spend a lot
of time with people like that in your whole life,
so hopefully it'll be full more. I mentally, you mentioned
before the risk reward does I decide on their starters
are much?
Speaker 1 (08:05):
You know, how do you balance that given how many
injuries down on the depth that you have, and that
may even change the companies. Well, the fact that some
of you.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
Guys are heard, it kind of takes these decision processes
out for me. I mean, like, I think there's three
healthy starters on defense right now, so I can decide.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
On those three guys. But it does put a lot
more pressure on the threes and stuff. The two has
become the ones, the threes becoming twos. We don't really
have threes right now. But I look at it all
and how much time you're getting the next few weeks
and stuff.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
And I'd like to get a good I'd like to
get a lot of work for as many guys as
I can on Saturday.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
So we're gonna try to treat the following week like
a number of a normal week where we.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
Take a Monday and Tuesday off, try to have a
normal Wednesday, Thursday, Friday schedule, which will be one day off.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
Because it's a Saturday game. But I'm trying to do
that as best as we can.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
And guys who miss all of Saturday, who don't work
on Friday, then the whole team at Sunday and Monday off.
Now all of a sudden, you've had a guy rest
for two any days and it becomes unsafe to bring
him back.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
So we gotta figure out how to balance it.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
Out the defensive line.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
I mean, many guys who are probably gonna make the lobsters.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
That are available right there? Do you ever, I mean,
it's not just stupid to time to be You're gonna
like many should here we go again?
Speaker 4 (09:17):
I mean, have you ever did those feelings? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (09:20):
I mean that's what we all get you. That's so
we all don't like training camp. We love football, we
love practicing and stuff. But you know how valuable these
players are winning games. And you know, I think we
had sixty linemen out there today too that I think
we signed yesterday too, that we signed the week before,
and two guys that I really know, you know, so
that it's a little bit different. It gives guys other
(09:42):
opportunities we can see more people. But yeah, that's I mean,
this is my first time going to it, so it's
kind of life of the coach, so you know, accept
it a little bit more. But yeah, it's something I'm
thinking about a lot, and yeah it's a big deal
and hopefully we can fix it. That's it, all right,
I guess
