Speaker 1 (00:04):
What's up, faithful, Welcome into the forty nine Ers. You've
got mailed Podcasts presented by Delta Dental.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
I'm Lindsay Plaris. Faithful.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
We have reached the end of the season here at
Levi Stadium. No more games will happen for the twenty
twenty three year.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
The forty nine ers.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
Are headed to Vegas next week for Super Bowl fifty eight.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
I love the sound of that.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
And that marks the end of our weekly run here
on the podcast. We will still have off season episodes,
but more info on that to come. So this week's
installment is our best of episode, and I'm joined today
by my producer Nigel McWilliams, who you don't see every episode,
but he has worked tirelessly this entire season behind the
scenes to help bring this whole vision to life every

(00:49):
week for you guys.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
So let's welcome him. Nigel. Hel's Dolan so faithful.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
I hope everybody's having a good day. I'm chilling next
to Lindsay.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Nigel.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
We don't get to see you really on any of
the episodes because people are manning the cameras, But what
has this season been like for you? Having all these
amazing guested duos and alumni come through or you've got
mail podcast set.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
It's been pretty cool, especially from start to I won't
say finished, but from start to now just from I
enjoy coming in here, turning the studio, setting up everything
from mikes to camera, just sitting back and watching and
seeing more of a relaxed aspect from our players, getting
to know more about them, creating more content for you

(01:37):
guys to consume, and get to just know more about
our players and get to understand them a little bit
off the field as well.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
We compiled our best of lists and so we have
a lot of highlights from this year because there's been
so many cool moments, and I feel very fortunate that
these players have kind of invited us into their lives
a little bit and have just been so gracious and
just shared things about them that you wouldn't hear in

(02:04):
a press conference, you probably haven't heard in other podcasts.
So we're very fortunate that they trust us with that.
So let's just start with the list.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
Start it off.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Okay, So these are in no particular order because we
just kind of went through all of our episodes and
got a little nostalgic just now we're starting off with
dog ownership. During the Kyle Yueschek and Christian McCaffrey episode,
I think it was them and their full dog dad element, and.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
We'd love to see it.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
They were just chatting back and forth, didn't bringing up
the dog names. Uh, just seeing them in a setting
outside of football talking about off field stuff. Man, just
was really important, especially for CMC, because you know, we
see CMC and we think, oh, man, dude's a machine.
But like I said, dude is a human being and

(02:53):
he loves his dogs.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
Man Bro loves his dogs.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Hem and Juice, And I didn't even I didn't even
know Use was a cat guy.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Yeah, he told us that.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
And then I think one of the best parts as
well is that these all three of these dogs that
are owned by these two men have full government names.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
Full government names might even have Social Security and amos.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
So you're gonna listen to that on this podcast clip.
But one of our absolute faves of.

Speaker 4 (03:20):
The Yeah, that was one of my favorites.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
All right, So off the field, both of you guys
are dedicated dog parents, so I did want to ask
about that.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
When did you guys decide in your busy NFL careers.
It's temper dog and you actually have two.

Speaker 5 (03:34):
Yeah, I'm on, I'm on puppy number two. And it's
so funny because I grew up I was a cat guy.
I never liked dogs. I know it's kind of weird,
but it was about five years ago. My wife had
showed me these samoids on Instagram and I'm like, that's
a dog like those exist that looks it looks like

(03:56):
a cat, it looks like a Pokemon, kind of like
a cat dog. And I fell in love with him
right away, and I'm like.

Speaker 4 (04:04):
Yeah, let's get one.

Speaker 5 (04:05):
And so four years ago we got our first and
then this off season, unfortunately, after losing the NFC Championship,
it was just an impulse thing, like we were just sad.
We were literally just sad, and Chris's like, you want
to get another dog?

Speaker 4 (04:19):
Like, yes, yes I do.

Speaker 5 (04:21):
And so I ended up being the best decision ever.

Speaker 4 (04:25):
Yeah, mine was.

Speaker 6 (04:26):
My fiance just completely wrote me into it. I was
completely anti dog. I'm like, there's no way. I'm like,
I can't take care of a dog. You know, it's
gonna have to be a small dog because you know,
I don't have at this point, Like I was moving around.

Speaker 4 (04:41):
I didn't.

Speaker 6 (04:42):
I've been a nomad for like a two years now,
and I was like, sure, fine, you know, we can
get a dog and I do anything.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
For that dog. That's my guy.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
I was about to say. I was like, no regrets
on either side.

Speaker 5 (04:55):
You're literally the best decisions I've ever made in my life.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
We're gonna move on to our next You've got mail highlights.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
So this was from Fred Warner and Drake Greenlaw's episode.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
I think this made a lot of people laugh, and
I do appreciate that Fred Warner took this and he
actually followed up on it on his own podcast, So
shout out to Fred. Dre was gracious enough to share
what a typical Arkansas cuisine is and I had no
idea what it was.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
But you were also from the South, so you were
not shocked at all.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
No, I wasn't shocked at all. From dear me. Dre
talked about raccoon.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Soals, meat, hoghead cheese, all of the stuff that I
don't I haven't seen out here in California, but the
still just reminds you home and being away from home
too out here, it just kind of just kind of
makes you think of home and family and stuff. So
that's why I kind of thought that was a cool moment,
just seeing Jerry talk about the cuisine and aspects of

(05:52):
how they you know, how they go about capturing they
talk about capturing or.

Speaker 4 (05:58):
Any talking about it.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
He also talked about the different ways that you can Yeah,
you can.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
Cook it various.

Speaker 4 (06:03):
Raccoon meat is very oily, very oily.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
We had no idea.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
I don't and Fred was a little taken aback as well,
so he learned a little bit.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
I learned a little bit. It was cool. I appreciated it.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
Hey, look, man, I got love dre Man.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
Daniel from Walnut Creek wants to know. And this one
is for you, Dre.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
What's the best thing about Arkansas that only an Arkansas
native would know about?

Speaker 4 (06:26):
Pig baby?

Speaker 7 (06:27):
All right, So if you got the Arkansas you know
what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
It depends on where you go.

Speaker 7 (06:30):
Now, if you're going to northwest Arkansas, you need to
go to Dixon Street. I'm tell you right now, you
need to go to Dick Street. Dickson Street is the club.

Speaker 6 (06:37):
Just no.

Speaker 7 (06:38):
It is a club, though, but it's like a good
like bar, a good place to go and hang out.
And kind of feel the vibe for the city a
little bit, you know what I'm saying. So like, if
you got a good weekend after a game, after hopefully
a hog win, you know what I mean, we get
us a win one of them SEC wins, go out
there to diston Street, have you a good time? And yeah, yeah,
you'll enjoy it.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
What is a very Arkansas? Who is the state known for?

Speaker 7 (07:02):
Oh, we're known for all type of foods. I mean
we got ratcoon, squirrel got awesome, you got deer, like
you got what? Like, what do you want? Like you
got alligator?

Speaker 4 (07:12):
Whatever?

Speaker 7 (07:13):
Anything you want?

Speaker 4 (07:14):
Like they got it all.

Speaker 7 (07:16):
Oh yeah, we do it all fry, cook, bake, bake, yeah, bull.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
All mall pig feet what you want from.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
That episode As a small sidebar, I loved how I
remember asking them if they tracked each other's stats, and
they both initially said no, and then I I think
I talked about a specific season and the order in
which they finished in Tackling, which was one and two,
and they knew exactly what I was talking about, and
then they just started laughing because it seems that they

(07:48):
are tracking their.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
Best in the world, best in the best in the
World Man.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Best Linebacker duo.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
Our next favorite moment comes from the Nick Bosa and
Chase Young episode, which was a recent one and had
we had a couple favorite.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Moments from this one.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
We had a fan submitted question and ask Nick his
favorite sack of his career to this date. He talked
about the Jacksonville sack that he had.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
That he actually split with Chase Young. I really like
that because you just know that these guys are actually
best friends. They are so happy to be playing together.

Speaker 3 (08:23):
And I think it's cool too that knowing they played
together they're here now and just seeing the brotherhood aspect
of them just you know, it's it's not there's no selfishness,
like it's just here, like we did this together and
look at how it impacts the team, and it just
it just goes to show you more of the family

(08:45):
aspect that this team has and how important it is
for them as teammates and as brothers too as well.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
I think also too. You ask them about the brotherhood
and they can talk about it, but it's in those
moments when they're laughing in the podcast studio together there
that you see it in action.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
I love seeing that. I like the one we me
and him paired up on and got the strip this year.
Did you guys feel that one coming?

Speaker 4 (09:11):
Honestly, it was kind of crazy ahead.

Speaker 8 (09:14):
Yeah, it's when Chris said, come on, both took it
up and came back.

Speaker 9 (09:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (09:26):
I honestly thought we were gonna get one together that game.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
And also we cannot forget about the sidebar scene probably
all around the internet.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
Nick Bosa talked about the sales.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
He's a scientist, I think most of the scientists, I'm
almost certain. I mean for him to go that detail,
that just shows you that he's on a.

Speaker 4 (09:49):
Whole other level.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
We learned a lot about Nick Bosa on that episode.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Our next one is from the Charvarius Ward and Diamador
Lenore episode.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
So these guys our physical guys. They're really great tacklers.
You see it week after week.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
I loved hearing them talk about being relatively new fathers.
Giamador Leonor I believe his son is about two, Mooney's
daughter just turned one, and it was you just see
them light up when they talk about their kids.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
Family is a recurring theme, and it just shows you
just how important it is to his team and to
the culture here at the forty nine ers and just
hearing him talk about his daughter and just how you know,
having her and the bond that they have just wanted
him to be made him want to be a better
person on and off the field. And it's just so
deep because children of life, man, and we have to

(10:44):
sew into our futures. And you can tell that Bro's
a good father.

Speaker 4 (10:48):
And he lit up when he was talking about that
moment in the episode.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Yeah, I feel like for both of them, they just
expressed that their why got bigger and I loved that
it was just a different side of that.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
And I think it seems like the feedback.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
We got on that episode, a lot of people really
enjoyed hearing about that as well.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
Yeah what about your moving?

Speaker 8 (11:07):
Oh being a dad?

Speaker 2 (11:08):
Yeah, what's dad life like?

Speaker 4 (11:09):
Uh? It's fun. I like you've seen the smile on
my face. It's fun.

Speaker 8 (11:13):
Like I like me and my daughter. We've been getting
like a lot closer lately because at first she was
just like she only want mommy, She only want her
mom you know, every time I try to grab her,
she a story crying like that was kind of hurt
my feeling out like that, like what I do, But
like if I'm doing it, But like, like I know,
I ain't realize that at first, I'm like, bro, like
why you don't like me? But like now so I

(11:34):
feel like like every since me and her relationship got better,
like at home, like it made me play better on
the field, you know what I'm saying. So I feel
like another thing it did for me just kind of
like it made my heart a little bit bigger, you know,
like it made me want to treat other people or
the treat other people better as well. So because you know,
she did it, she dealing with some things like she done,
had a couple of surgeries already in her short life

(11:55):
and everything.

Speaker 4 (11:56):
So I was like, man like.

Speaker 8 (11:58):
Like if I treat other people good, you know, good
things gonna come to hunt and feature and everything like this.
So it just made me, like I think it made
me nicer, you know, kind of more more considerative others
feelings and everything.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
From the Colton mckivitt to Jake Brendle episode, we also
had a pretty good, pretty good couple of.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
Moments that we wanted to highlight.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
Colton mckivitt's I do think some people know huge outdoors man.

Speaker 4 (12:21):
Yeah, man, he.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
Loves pretty much anything related to hunting, fishing. He said
he wanted to be a park ranger at one point
and not really connected with you.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
Nigel tied tied me back to home, and I was
sitting here thinking like, now you used to go with
my granddad fish and it just puts you in a
place of you know, recurring thing family again. And that
was just a cool episode seeing then vibe off each
other and they enjoy me. They got to talk about
things that they do off season.

Speaker 10 (12:48):
I started early. My dad he's huge into it. He
does taxi urmy. You know, he grew up hunting and fishing,
and you know, he was born in Pittsburgh, Indiana, New York,
and finally Ohio, so he's been around a couple of
great outdoor states. And then I think, you know, six seven,
eight years old, I started doing a hunter safety course

(13:09):
all that and then just to fell in love with it,
done it. You know, it's summer, it's fishing, in the fall,
it's hunting, and now I've really gotten into the duck stuff.
Now out here trying to bring these guys along. Finally,
you know, Charlie will come out. We did a little
fishing in the summer turkey hunting and then getting Jake out.

(13:31):
You know, he came watched, So it's pretty cool to
get these guys out here. And we actually had some
duck for dinner last night. Guys cooked it up for
us and Boat and Christian and they all have it
and said it was the best thing ever. So it's
it's cool, you know, you open some guy's eyes up.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
One of the great things about just hearing from people
like Colton mc kimitts is that not all these athletes
are from California, right. Their interests were born in different
regions of the country. Everybody kind of comes from different backgrounds,
and it's nice to know there's just a diverse interest
on this team.

Speaker 4 (14:03):
Good diversity. Yeah, good diversity.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
And that's like I said, that's important, especially in the
locker room too as well.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
Our last top episode moment of the year comes from
none other than the Brock Pretty episode. Brock Party has
been just so highly advertised as a cool, calm, collected guy,
never cracks under pressure. We've seen it on the field
time after time. I thought it was great that he

(14:30):
talked a little bit about his personal life and I
asked him specifically about his proposal he's getting married in
the off season, and I just asked him, did that
ever make you nervous? And he said absolutely, The actual
proposal to his fiance actually gave him a little bit
of nervous energy, a little bit of jitters.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
So you know what, guys, he's just.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
Like us, you know, like and like I said, like
he talked about too.

Speaker 4 (14:57):
Just how.

Speaker 3 (14:59):
The family asked it was important too as well. And
just knowing Brocks human man, broxing human being.

Speaker 9 (15:04):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
A lot of times, a lot of people forget that
these players are human beings, uh, and that's so important
to being in an internal standpoint, just kind of seeing that,
you know, they go through things too too.

Speaker 4 (15:18):
But just brockhads just such a.

Speaker 3 (15:20):
Good level head and such a good strongholding his faith
that it's just so important and it just shines a
light on him even more just seeing him cherish his family,
talk about his family.

Speaker 9 (15:34):
I mean, obviously the conference that we play in. You know,
my family lives in Arizona, so they're able to catch
you know, a couple you know, road games, and then
they try to come to as many home games as possible.
But yeah, on Sundays for them, it's you know, they
close up shop and uh, you know, go to church
and then watch the game and uh, you know, cheers
on and stuff. So and then they're obviously traveling out
and being here to as many games as possible. But

(15:56):
you know, they're huge for me, you know in terms
of just the support love. They love me for who
I am, not you know, just because I play quarterback
for the forty nine ers like they love you know,
their son, their brother, and man, I'm I blessed to
have them and you know, everything that I do is
for God and you know, for my family.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
So love him so much. NFC Championship. Standing right next
to his dad running.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
Out, we were both right there.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
I mean, his dad exploded in excitement and that's just
pure love and energy and it can't be it can't
be faked. That stuff, that kind of stuff can't be faked.
And it's just so important seeing the family aspect that
was to even bounce back to the NFC Championship. On
the field, Yeah, the coolest thing was seeing the families.

(16:39):
They were so happy. It shows you the village. You
see why they're so successful. Their support system is always
there behind them, you know, on and off the field
and that's so important, especially I think too for successful
football players. Uh, just the family aspect. Knowing that at
the end of the day, you can go call mom
and dad, you can go call a brother, you can

(16:59):
call us, uh, and that just shows you, like I say,
recurring theme, importance of family.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
And we hope you guys saw that. It's been a
pleasure to do You've Got Mail.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
Yes, it's been so fun.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
It's been so fun to be a part of You've
Got Mail this season, and we hope to continue building
on that. And one big part of that is we
love the questions.

Speaker 4 (17:21):
Bad questions. Keep sending them in.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
They're so good, they're so good, like you.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
Throw you like somebody, y'all throw these players off and
they come like they have the best answers, and it's
so it's it's just great content because I'd like, you
never know what you're gonna get, Seriously, never know what
answer you're gonna get.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
I go through some of the questions and I realize
how there's so many lifelong forty nine ers fans because
when we had alumni Steve Young come on the show,
there were questions of people that watched him play. I
love getting those in so just a reminder. I'll always
post our next guests that are coming up as soon
as we have them confirmed on our forty nine YouTube

(18:00):
page on the community tab.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
But you can always email me or tweet at me.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
We've kind of moved away from the forty nine ers
dot com slash mail bag, but if you do email
that I will get them, so you will.

Speaker 4 (18:14):
Get to them.

Speaker 1 (18:15):
We will get to them, and like I said, we
will be doing some off season episodes, so we're not
going anywhere. It's just not going to be quite the
same regular weekly Friday schedule that we've been on because
you know, it is actually the end of the NFL season,
which is wild to think about.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
It's been a long season, and I thoroughly enjoy all
the fans. You all bring so much energy, so much
positivity every game.

Speaker 4 (18:40):
It is so loud.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
Probably I think one of the loudest games I've been
to is probably the Detroit game. I turn around, I
see E forty turning up behind me. I see this fan.
I remember, so this was a funny, cool, cool thing too.
The Green Bay game, I turned around. One of the
fans points to me. He says, we're gonna have a
TD right here and then the next thing that happens,
we have a TV right there in the end zone

(19:03):
and it's just cool.

Speaker 4 (19:03):
Man.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
You have to that positive energy just connects across the
whole team. Man, and just these guys have worked at
buzz Off all season and you know, shout out to
the staff and coaches just such a such a great
job this season doing all the work and it's just
made it so so easy to create fun content and
I've thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed it from the start of the

(19:27):
season till now.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
Man, And as long as I do.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
This huge shout out to Nigel, Like I said, it's
you never see everybody that's working behind the scenes, but
they need to get their shine and none of this
would be possible without him, so I appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
Shout out to you, Nigel. It's been so fun.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
And like I said, we'll be back in the off
season and faithful to be featured in those next episodes.
I will get you the guest names whenever they're confirmed,
and I'll give you I'll sound the alarms when the
next episode is coming. But to be featured on those
next episodes, make sure to submit your questions on that
YouTube community page, and then you can also email me

(20:05):
forty nine ers dot com slash mail bag.

Speaker 2 (20:08):

Speaker 4 (20:10):
We've yeah, subscribe, subscribe up.

Speaker 1 (20:12):
We are on Spotify and Apple Podcasts, but for now
that is it from us, and it has been such
a pleasure for the twenty twenty three season.
