Speaker 1 (00:00):
I see this debate all the time.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
You're no longer Mike. Oh here, Michael, until we get
to the bottom of this.
Speaker 1 (00:05):
Okay, going back, you said something that bothered me. You
know what ruffling my feathers.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Scientifically we are we are not normal. Absurd both go
to jail. It is extremely over I think this is crazy.
I just I don't have any words. I thought you
were better than this.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
There's many things that ruffle my feathers.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Let's get ready aroun.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Ladies and gentlemen, dirty birds of all ages, Welcome to
Ruffled Feathers, where we talk about the things that get
a little bit under our skin. I'm your host, Will
mcfat and I'm joined by Falcons long snapper Liam McCullough
and defensive end Colored Kareem and Liam.
Speaker 4 (00:45):
You've got the topic for us today. What are we
talking about?
Speaker 1 (00:48):
Well, I'll tell you, Uh, there's many things that ruffle
my feathers. One of the things that I want to
talk about. It's summer right. Kids are on summer vacation,
summer break vacation time. People are traveling all over the country,
all over the world. You know what ruffles my feathers
When people stand up on the plane. When the plane lands,
that's what ruffles my feathers. That's what I want to
(01:09):
talk about today.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
All right. So yeah, I'm I'm a hobitual offender.
Speaker 5 (01:13):
Oh yeah, as soon as that plane lands, I'm not
gonna lie.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
I gotta get up. I gotta stretch.
Speaker 5 (01:18):
Why why you know, being someone with longer limbs, you know,
he's a little cramped.
Speaker 4 (01:23):
How tall are you, brother?
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Roughly six four six four? Okay, I'm like check that
in like dot com.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Six two six three is not far off some long legs.
But go ahead, as the taller of the two.
Speaker 5 (01:32):
All at you speak, I appreciate that, you know, being
a little cramped, not really having the shoulder space because
you know, I don't always pay for first class, you
know me neither. I'm gonna sit in the back of
the planes, you know if it's.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
Almost financially conscious flyer as well myself.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
You feel me.
Speaker 5 (01:47):
And so with that being said, my back gets a
little tight. You know, I've been playing football for twenty
years or you know, not in the league obviously, but
you know since I was six wow, And so now
I'm just like, man, I gotta get up, I gotta stretch.
It out, and I'm not a guy who's going to
go up and get my bags. Now I might if
I need something.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Do you get up, stretch and sit back down, or
you like boom, touchdown bing, seat belt off taxi and
you're at the gate and you're.
Speaker 5 (02:15):
Just I'm a standing desk sep. Honestly, I'm probably not
supposed to do this. I don't really wear my seat
belt on the plane.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
That's that's kyled kareem there.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
That's saying that. That's like I wear for the most part.
But take the seatbelt off or whatever.
Speaker 5 (02:32):
I stand up, I stretch and do my thing, and
then I sit on the arm rest.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
That's where like you know, on the arm.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
And he lost me there. That's comfortable. That's more comfortable
than sitting in the seat. Yeah, because why why not
lift the armress side note if you didn't know this,
on most flights to you can you can push a
button that's like back here, you can pop the armrest up,
more leg room, you can maneuver and stuff like that.
Speaker 5 (02:57):
That's a great statement, and that's something that's very true.
But you know, then if I do that and then
my back is against the other armors, it's in the
middle and now I got something.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
So you're in between two seats, Yeah, a rock and
a hard place. So why not why not buy the
aisle seat and just stretch your legs out so long as.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
That's people aren't But that's where I'm sitting. Okay, that's
where I'm sitting.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
But I got an issue with people that, like they're
like as soon as the plane lands, boom being the
little ding goes off seat belt and they stand up
and they're just standing in the aisle for what for?
What to get off the plane quicker? Like, I mean,
if you're gonna stand up, like stand up. But what
I really do not like, what really ruffles my feathers
(03:40):
will is when people from grinds my gears. People from
the back of the plane where you and I sit, Yep,
they pop up and then they grab their bag and
try to shoot up to the front or halfway up
the plane.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
What if they have a connection.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
That's fair, that's fair, But also like plan out your
connections too, Like anytime I'm connecting and not flying directly,
I give myself an hour and a half two hours
just because I don't want to run into any delays,
no aded stress. It anything like that. But realistically speaking,
if you're in the back of the plane where you
and I sit, and you because ever there's plenty of
(04:13):
people that are getting up, so you're not gonna get
that far that much further forward, how much time are
you realistically saving yourself a minute two minutes tops of
waiting on the plane for what. I just don't think.
I don't think it's that much of a difference. I
don't think it warrants. You know, it's not as bad
as clapping when the plane lands.
Speaker 5 (04:34):
But be honest, I think sometimes for me it's just like,
you know, I've been on this plane all day, I'm
ready to get.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Off, and it's just really that feeling.
Speaker 5 (04:43):
Yeah, I sat behind somebody who immediately pushes their seat back,
and I'm like, hey, bro, we're going from Hawaii to LA.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
I'm gonna see it.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
I don't I go back and forth on people leaning
back on the planes, because like, on one hand, like
I wouldn't want someone to be crammed up on my
knees as a taller person sitting in the economically uh
what do you say, economy class coach whatever, there's so
many different names right now, so I necessarily I wouldn't.
(05:14):
It's not comfortable if someone leans back. But at the
same time, like, I'm they paid for that ticket, and
like the seat reclines, like you have the right to recline.
But on that same note, people talk about I see
this debate all the time, the arm rests. Who gets
the arm rests? Because I think, I so there's there's yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay.
(05:37):
So I'm I'm in the window seat. Okay, we're we're
lined up like this, right, I'm in the window. You're
an aisle guy. I'm a window guy. I like seeing
out the plane. So we're like this, we got these
arm rests. Right if in my mind, Will gets both armrests,
He's got the he's got the middle seat I got,
I got the window I can lean against, you know,
I get someone to lean against here, So I got
(05:57):
the lean angle here space, you got the leg room
because you can pop the legs out when no one's
in the aisle. So it seems fair that Will Will
get both of the arm rest if he's.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
In the minute. Yeah, I'll give I'll give Will that.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
But at the same time, there's only one. It's not
like there's two. So it's like, do you share it?
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Do you do? You do?
Speaker 1 (06:18):
Like a one in front, one behind, front, front, back.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
Wells if you're sinning with someone you know the.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
N Yeah, I mean usually usually it's me and the
window of my wife in the middle.
Speaker 5 (06:27):
So like, I don't know, I feel like you can
definitely ask, hey, bro, let me get this one.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Yeah, it should be too much.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
What about the order that people get on the plane.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
You should definitely go back to front.
Speaker 5 (06:40):
It makes no sense that you put first class Delta
one whatever you want to call it, one in the front.
It logistically it makes zero sense because then you get
people in the back of the plane. They have nowhere
to put their things, and then I have to sit.
Let's just let's just say I'm fortunate enough to sit
and you know, let's call it the eggs ro if
I do.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
Okay, see I gotta I got my opinion about ex rows.
Speaker 5 (07:01):
All the seats are filled like all the film, So
now I have to put all my stuff in the
back of the plane, hopefully if there's a SPOTLFT. So
when the lands, I gotta go all the way back,
or maybe I have to wait for everyone to get
off so that I can go back, like, it's just
really inconvenient, so you should definitely go.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
I think it would definitely be faster to board the
plane back to front. But now some of the if
you get on like a big plane, like the entrance
the door to get on the plane is like, is
like not at the front? Ye kind of first class? Yeah, well,
I don't know about you. I'm I'm a I'm a coach.
You may be up there with the big time guys.
Speaker 4 (07:35):
And no, no, I'm on top of the plane.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Uh no. I think it definitely makes the most sense
to to load the plane back to front. Going back.
You said something that bothered me. The exit ros not
really bothered me. The exit rows, hate them, hate them,
will never sit in the next Row'll tell you why,
tell you why. Here's what. Here's the issue. The issue
is you got the leg.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
Room right yep.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
But for larger gentlemen like you and I, you can't
move the arm rest. The arm rest is not like
I don't know if you guys could see this, there's
like an armrest and then a gap under here. That
arm rest is a solid wall. It's a solid wall.
So you're sitting in there. You can't you can't you know,
get comfortable. You are stuck there knees together like this.
(08:22):
You may have extra leg room in front, there is
no sort of wiggle room or anything. I do not
like exit rows. The hype is way over hyped, way
over hyped.
Speaker 5 (08:33):
As a man who travels cheap, hello, it's a it's
an economically friendly first class.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
I would rather sit in the back of the plane.
No wait, wait, no, not the back rowd because the back
roaw doesn't reclyin because you got the bathrooms back there.
Give me a second to last row in economy before
I got exit row. I'm a window guy.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
I don't know, but.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
Windows are hit or miss because there are some window
seats on the plane that I was on a flight
back from Toledo, Ohio, coming back from a college teammate's
wedding this weekend. I had a window seat, and I
actually I got upgraded from UH to Comfort plus to
Delta comfort plus right, and I got upgraded to a
window seat. And I was like, sweet, I get an
(09:15):
extra leg room and I get a window. I go sit.
I got the leg room. There's no window. You know why?
It was in front of an exit row. That's tough.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
Uh here's okay, let me let me ask you something.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
Okay, it's the last point and then we gotta we
gotta land this plane.
Speaker 5 (09:31):
Let's let's let's say let's say you do have a
eggs ro seat, right?
Speaker 2 (09:35):
Yeah? Me personally, I love the eggs.
Speaker 5 (09:40):
Row where there's no seat in front of it so
I can really just stretch my legs out. No, now,
I don't like it sometimes because I have nowhere put
my stuff, so I have to put it up the.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
Top trade table comes out of the arm rest. Yep, Nope,
don't like it. You know why because then you have
that solid arm rest.
Speaker 5 (09:52):
Okay, here here, Here's my biggest issue, okay, is when
people who are a lot smaller.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
Than me, okay, which is most people.
Speaker 5 (10:01):
Yes, take those seats okay, and just puts their cross
their legs and don't they don't even utilize the full space. Well,
I'm right next to them, and I'm I'm fighting for
space and they don't even like.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
It's like a mental thing for you. They want to
have that seat to like be like, yeah, I got
the ex wit.
Speaker 5 (10:18):
You're not even trying to be just like hey.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Okay, I know we got to go quick. I want to.
I got a question for both of you. Give me
your airport slash airplane snacks. What's your go to snacks
on the plane?
Speaker 4 (10:31):
On a plane, I'm not a big snare.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
Are you getting a snack and taking it onto the plane? No?
Speaker 3 (10:35):
See, Like I just now I think realized that you
could even do that, because I think forever I was
just so afraid of like you can't go through security
with literally any.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
I bring full meals.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
Yeah, so I wasn't like so I'm you know, honestly,
whatever the plane's giving me that that's kind of just
my snack on the plane.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (10:56):
I am a typically I am a gummies with an
I usually do.
Speaker 1 (11:01):
You bring up from home or you getting them at
the airport? Don't got me start on the price of
the airports next highway robbery.
Speaker 5 (11:06):
I try my best to bring it from outside airport,
but if not, I got it. You know, bite the bullet,
I do that in the water, or I'll switch it
up and do like a pay day or almond Joy.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
I haven't had someone for hang out timeout. Did you
say an almond Joy? An almond Joy almonds, coconut and
chocolate mounds.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
We don't do mouths mountains.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
There's both terrible options.
Speaker 5 (11:30):
I keep a Payday or Almond Joy in the glove
box of each one of my cars.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
All of what yep, that's all of the choices at
the gas station, at the airport, all the choices for candy.
And you go for a a You said an Almond.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
Joy, Almondjoy or pay Day, either one.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
What's your snack?
Speaker 2 (11:51):
He's a little frustrated.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
I need to refocus. I need to lock in. Give
me a big old diet coke, big diet cocap another podcast.
Give me a big old diet coke. You know what
I like the little I'll take a little two pack
of those bisc Off cookies on they give out very cookies,
very underrated. Cookie is the little biscus very underrated?
Speaker 3 (12:13):
Well, this was a very underrated podcast. Some people are
already saying, some people are some people would, but we
want to hear from you who won the debate. We
covered a lot of topics it takes for flying. Uh
you know, we may have solved airline travel. Who knows,
but let us know. Liam Calid, thank you so much
for joining me today. Thank you guys for having us
