We are.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
We're all taffy.

Well, part of the Giants podcast network.

(01:06):
on the Giants mobile app podcast platforms everywhere and at
giants dot com slash podcasts. All Right, a couple of
things first up this week. On Wednesday and Thursday, the
NFL Spring Meetings will occur. One of the items that
I can't wait to see them vote on is the
hopeful abomination or demolition of the Toush push. I don't
(01:27):
know if that's going to happen, but that's one of
the things they will be voting on. Another one's going
to be about the participation of flag football in the Olympics,
allowing guys to be part of that. That's another item.
Another item has to do with the seedings in the playoffs,
maybe going to the straight seeds instead of division champions.
We could talk about that if you like, although again
Wednesday and Thursday of the league meetings, I kind of
(01:49):
want to push that talk off until then when we
actually have more input. But if you do want to
bring that up, I certainly make that available to you.
Our question of the day, Pearson was reminding me this morning,
we're gonna tweak it a little bit from what I
had put up on the internet this morning. We want
to know from you guys. The Giants offense, Okay, we're
(02:10):
just gonna go offense today, will go defense tomorrow. Which
eleven players on offense are going to take the most
snaps in the Week one opener against Washington. I thought
we were gonna do it for the season, but I
guess I misunderstood the directions as we were talking about
it last week. So we're not gonna do it for
the season. There could be too many factors that come
(02:30):
into play. Guys could get hurt, there could be guys
maybe moving up on the depth chart and taking somebody
else's job, etc. We're not gonna do that. So just
who's gonna take the most snaps and each of the
eleven offensive slots in Week one against Washington? I think
that's pretty easy. I think the defensive sides a little
(02:51):
bit more difficult, quite frankly, Matt. But that's what we're
gonna do in terms of our question for the day.
In the meantime, Uh, Pearson's still with us. He's still
with us. He Uh he tried, he tried to drown
himself in his Celtic sorrow, but somehow he did survive.
(03:11):
And I'm glad you did. I'm glad you did. I
know you don't have a horse in this fight, right,
I'm pulling for the next. You are still pulling for
the next.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
Yeah, it's good for the city and for the area
if the Knicks win. And I'm never no offense, Pierson,
I'm never gonna be upset about a Boston team losing,
even though the teams that I like. Boston isn't exactly
the biggest rivalry. I mean, the Celtics would be like,
I'm a Mets fan. I don't hate the Red Sox, okay,
but in general that's because you.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Beat them in the World Series. That's why if they
had beaten you, you'd hate.
Speaker 4 (03:44):
Them probably, But in general, it's always good to I
will never be upset about a Boston team losing or
a Philadelphia team losing. I get any sport, so I'm
pulling for the next.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
All right, Well, we appreciate the support.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
I gotta say you lested about I don't think fifteen
seconds into the show without making a Knicks reference. Somehow
we might make it a little bit further in.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Well, look, John's on vacation this week, so you know
I had to pick up the slack, right, is he
would have done it if I didn't.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
Oh, he would have led with him, Absolutely would. And
I went at least a little bit into the program
all right before we snuck a little nikobokas go New York,
go right in there.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
But in any event, it's it's good for New York,
it's good for the NBA. In fact, it's good for
the entire universe when the Knicks are kicking people's butts.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
So it should be an entertaining series coming up, Knicks Pacers.
You must remember back in the day.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Halliburton. Halliburton is really nosed himself into that list of
guys who belong in the post office wall. You know,
Reggie Miller's on that wall, Paul Pierce's on that wall,
Trey Young is on that wall. There's there's there's quite
a rogues gallery on that wall. Halliburton has been nudging
his way onto that wall. Okay, yeah, he definitely has been.
(05:04):
So we're going to see how that works out. But
that's not until Wednesday. Yes, so we have time. We
don't we don't. We don't have to address the next
any further for the next two shows, much to Pearson's
joy and thrilled.
Speaker 4 (05:14):
I'm gonna hold you to that.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
We don't have to do that.
Speaker 4 (05:17):
We don't have to stick to that tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
No, we don't have to do that.
Speaker 4 (05:21):
I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna back off a little bit.
We'll let the Bakers rest up and do what they
need to do to win Game one at the Guard.
It's so nice thought have home home court. Yeah, it's
I'm sure it's nice just to be playing in the
conference finals, be.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
In the top remaining scene in the East. Oh yeah,
it's sweet.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
I've had my team there in over twenty years, I
believe it or not.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
I actually covered the New Jersey Nets when they were
at the Meadowlands for about four years the early.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
Two thousand years.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Buck Williams one of my favorite all time players. I
covered Daryl Dawkins to Minski.
Speaker 4 (05:55):
A little bit before Jason Kidd got there.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Oh yeah, oh yeah, that team I was not a
fan of.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
Yeah, because they were good. It was they were admitted
to the finals.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
But the Nets had a good run earlier. Yeah, not
as good, not as good, but yeah, but with that previous.
Speaker 4 (06:14):
Team, some solid teams before the Chuck.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
Daily teams, the Calipari teams I I love Chuck, love
Chuck daily. But anyway, well I'm digressing, I know. But
I actually did cover the Nets for about four years.
I covered all their home games for our flagship w FA.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
So you don't quite hate them like you do with
my Mets.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Oh, I have no love loss for the Mets. I
know that's the Mets. Could just you hate the Mets,
but you don't drop down to Triple A International League.
Speaker 4 (06:45):
Feel that way. But the Nets. You're just indifferent.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
Not quite as much, no, but but.
Speaker 4 (06:50):
A little bit. Yeah, I don't like the Nets were
in the Eastern Conference finals and not the next you
wouldn't be rooting for them like I'm rooting for your next.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
Well, actually, I can't despise this Nets roster right now?
Speaker 4 (07:03):
What's there were?
Speaker 5 (07:05):
No?
Speaker 2 (07:06):
There were, but there were guys on that Nets roster
over the years who I did not like at all. Right, fair, okay,
But I've always i've always always thought of Buck Williams
as one of my all time favorite non Nicks.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
We'll take that as a small Nets w right there. Well,
there's one guy that you actually like.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
You do remember the end of his career? Right?
Speaker 4 (07:30):
No?
Speaker 2 (07:31):
Not quite No, he was the prototype power Forward. He
was awesome, and I and I and Chocolate Thunder too.
I was a Dawkins guy. I'm sorry, I just was.
I was a Darryl Dawkins guy. So all right, anyway,
super John Williamson, going back many many years ago anyway,
So yeah, there was a lot of nets over the years.
(07:51):
I did actually like, but never really liked the team
so much. It was individual players I would pick out
fair enough that I could do the Nick's blooded me
me to pick out individual players, but I couldn't like
the team. That was the difference. Okay, that is all right.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
Let's go to the calls.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
Let's go to the calls. Two one nine three nine
four five one three. Oh hey, we've got three people
on the line.
Speaker 4 (08:15):
But for some reason, I don't know why, it's not
showing up, but it sounds like we got a pretty
special guest calling them on line three.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
Come on, John, let's hear it. How you doing, my man?
Speaker 5 (08:27):
What's up? Fellas?
Speaker 4 (08:28):
How you doing JC?
Speaker 5 (08:30):
I'm good. How you guys doing, man?
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Jonathan? It is great to hear from you once again.
Are you calling us from some tropical paradise? I know
you like the vacation.
Speaker 5 (08:40):
I am at my house in North Bergen, New Jersey. Fellers,
I am right here, babe.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Well, to some people, New Jersey is a tropical paradise.
Speaker 5 (08:49):
Well, I'm born and raised here, bro so it's the home.
And you know what, the weather has been good to
us lately, so I'll take that.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Yeah, not bad, not bad. So what do old the
pleasure of today's phone call? So nice of you to
join us today.
Speaker 5 (09:04):
Well, look, I've been we haven't talked, and you know
I like to talk ball with you guys, you know,
especially you Paul. You know, no offense to you, side tech,
but you know me and Paul of two know, we're
like Batman and Robbin. I'm being the Robin, you know
what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
Of course I haven't.
Speaker 5 (09:19):
I haven't had a chance to talk in a while.
Or so I said, let me let me tune into BBKL.
Matter of fact, let me call in the BBKL because
I haven't talked to my guys in the while, and
I actually want to get you all, you know, opinions
on something. When I ask you guys a couple of questions.
My first question is, of course, I think the Giants
hit a home runn in the draft. I think they
did really well. My question is to both of you guys,
(09:43):
which player from the draft are you most excited to
see come training camp.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
I'll let you go.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
First, all right?
Speaker 2 (09:51):
For me?
Speaker 4 (09:52):
The most the player I'm most excited to see in
training camp. Oh, I'm gonna have to go with not
the obvious answer. I cannot wait to see Darius Alexander
out there. I think he was just the perfect fit
to play alongside Dexter Lawrence and on the interior with
all of the guys we have on the edge. Now,
I know Abdul might have been the easy answer there,
(10:13):
but I already just have such high expectations for him
already that basically I expect him to do what I
think we all kind of expect him to do. But
Darius Alexander, I feel like some people are kind of
sleeping on him, and I think once the pants come
on and we actually get to see some contact at practice,
which obviously doesn't happen until training camp, I think he's
going to leave a lot of people impressed and surprise
(10:35):
a lot of people.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
Yeah, you know, Jonathan for me, because they don't do
a whole lot of hitting these days during the summer camp.
It's so hard for me to talk about a scataboo
who needs to be physical in order to get people's
blood pumping. Same thing I want to see. I want
to see the battles between the guys who are going
(10:57):
to try to block Abdul Carter as he tries. I
used to get through them on the pass rush. I
want to see what happens in the trunches with Alexander.
I can't see much of that in training camp. It's
not like years ago, you know that. So for me,
it's probably gonna be for Dony the seventh round tight
end because he's a skill position player, and skill position
(11:20):
players get to create the most oohs and odds during
most of these training camp sessions because there's hardly any contact.
Speaker 5 (11:31):
I like it. And you know, tight ends nowadays, especially
in twenty twenty five, they're the quarterback's best friend. You know,
you could definitely no doubt it's a great receiver on
the outside, a great run game as well, But those
tight ends are always kind of in between the hashes.
You know, they're always like the second to third option,
and they could be great safety valves. So I hear you.
I like it, Paul. My second question to you guys,
(11:54):
as I'm staring at this bauntlet of a schedule, right,
I don't know if you guys actually broke this down,
but from that week Sticks game, the Thursday night football
game against the Eagles, which is October ninth, right, the
Giants go from that Thursday night game, which you haven't
extended week of course, to the next game, which is
(12:17):
the Broncos on the road. The Giants go from October
ninth to December fourteenth, so two months. And I'm not
counting those games. I'm not counting the Eagles game. I'm
not counting the Commander's game. But the Giants go two
months excluding the bye week, Yeah, with only two home games.
(12:38):
Like I've never seen anything like that. Like that's scary
to me, guys, Like to be honest with you, like
I hope that the Giants are more away, you know,
a visiting team, and they have success on the road,
because you do, got the last three out of the
four games at home. But that gone, I mean, that
(13:01):
doesn't even matter who they're playing. They're literally at MetLife
Stadium twice in two months. I've been around the game
for a long time, Paul, I know you have been
around a little bit longer than me, Matt Sidetek. I
know you do your research and I know how you
know how intelligent you are when it comes to this stuff.
Have you ever seen anything like that before?
Speaker 2 (13:21):
It's pretty challenging. But I would throw on top of that,
how about the fact that Giants by Week is in
week fourteen. That can't make it too happy as a
player either, does it?
Speaker 5 (13:33):
No? Not at all.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
Yeah, Between you know, two road games to start the
season and then that stretch that you just brought up.
I mean again, that's an eight week stretch where they
have two home games. That's rough. I mean, there's no
doubt about it. That's why getting off to a solid
start to the season early when you do have you know,
at least three home games in the first six weeks,
(13:58):
although three tough home games. Those are not going to
be like your cake walk home games. But that's why
getting off to, you know, just a solid start to
the season is so important. You don't want to go
into that stretch of mostly road games way behind the
eight ball already.
Speaker 5 (14:17):
Yeah. Absolutely, And the way the schedule is now, Matt,
I don't know if you do this too but I
spoke to Paul about this, like I still break the
season down into quarters with that last game being like
the bonus game. So I still do first four second
floar to and then halftime and then you know, your
(14:37):
third quarter, and then your fourth quarter, and then that
last game is like the bonus game. That's like the
overtime game. That's the push to get to the playoffs,
to rest if you are playoff and you are secured
in that playoff spot. So I still kind of see
it that way, and I agree the Giants have to
come out in the first half of the season, which
(14:59):
is the first eight, and they have to come out swinging.
They have to do good in a division, you know.
And that's something that Paul, you know, I always harp
on every single year the Giants have struggled in a division,
even when the Giants went to the playoffs. I'm not mistaken.
Twenty twenty two when they won a playoff game, they
were one four and one in the division.
Speaker 6 (15:20):
So crazy is if the Giants can start off that
first half of that you know, season before the dotlet
really gets going and have a you know, a respectable
record in the division, I think that'll keep some optimism
alive for not just us before the fan base as well.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
Hey Jonathan, while we have you on the phone, I'd
like to throw something out to you because we haven't
had you on the program much lately. So Abdul Carter
comes into the Giants situation as a number one draft pick,
number three overall, obviously, the spotlight and the microscope is
going to be on him from the first snap that
he takes. As a pro U. You're a lyning you
(16:01):
played the position. I know he's in edge rusher.
Speaker 4 (16:03):
It's a little bit different than the kind of linebacker
that you played because you did coverage an off a lot.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
But what will you be watching for from him as
a rookie, especially in that first month of the season
as he tries to get his feet wet.
Speaker 5 (16:19):
Well, you know, it depends on how much they're going
to play him. You know, I think even at the
number three draft pick, you know, you expect those guys
to play a lot. You expect those guys to be
you know, valuable contributors early. But because of Brian Burns
and Kvon Thibodeau, he's not expected to play one hundred
percent in the snaps, right, you know, So what I
(16:39):
would like to see from him is good production in
those snaps, whether it's forty, whether it's seventy percent. I
feel like between that window is kind that when we
receive him early and I think on how he would
play the first few weeks, I think that would be
a good indicator on is that load going to increase
(16:59):
or is it going to stay the same or decrease.
But I would like to see because mental errors would
happen with young guys, right, Paul. So I'm not really
tripping over mistakes. I'm not really tripping over you know,
him not being at the right place. You know, especially
early on, there's a lot of things coming at you
when you're playing early. But I would like to see
his production whenever he's out there really really high, you know.
(17:23):
I would like for him to be able to, you know,
when he's rushing on second and long and third and
long in those past rush situations that he has a
high pressure rate, he has a high sack rate, And
for me, that would make me feel real comfortable about
where he's at in his development because the mental side
would come along. But sometimes at that position, That's why
(17:44):
I'm like, sometimes just don't complicate it for these guys.
Sometimes it's not thinking at all. It's just going ahead
and being a better athlete than a guy in front
of you, and having a better mindset and going ahead
and whipping his butt. So I would like to see
his success rate high and his production rate high early
in the season because the reason why the Giants drafted
(18:05):
him so high, and I think he's a consensus one
or two best player out from twenty twenty five draft class.
You know, I think everybody either has Travis Hunter or
him as their number one player in the draft, so
you expect that guy to have an immediate impact. But
the thing is with him, he doesn't have to play
one hundred percent of the snatch because of the depth
(18:27):
that the Giants has. I love the opportunity that he
would walk into. I love it being with Bruce Bowen.
I love it being with the roster that the Giants had,
you know, and people were speculating about getting rid of
kvon Thibodeau and he had draft value and stuff like that. No,
I'm all for multiple pass rushers because the reason why
(18:47):
the Giants beat the Patriots twice in the Super Bowl.
No offense to Eli, No offense to David Tyree, Victa
Cruz and Blaxico Burrison, all of the great offensive guys,
all the great offensive linemen. It was because the pass
rushers frustrated the dope and he did it look the same.
The reason why the Eagles beat the Chiefs the way
they did because they might have beat him regardless, but
(19:09):
the reason why they beat him so soundly was because
Patrick Mahomes is running for his life. He never looked comfortable,
and that's because they have an array of pass rushers,
not one dominant pass rusher, not too they have him
an array of pass rushers. In this day and age,
in twenty twenty five, it's still the same thing. If
you can frustrate these top tier quarterbacks, which the Giants
(19:33):
will see. Commander's right. They got Jaden Daniels, Rookie of
the Year, NFC Championship, Dak Prescott. I don't care who
don't like him. Dak Prescott has been one of the
most consistent quarterbacks in the NFL. Week three, it's the
great Mahomes, right, and the Chargers, the young usin herbertw
who's been playing with greatness, and then the Eagles Jalen
(19:55):
you know Jalen Hursts the Super Bowl. You have to
be able to frustrate and flustered these great quarterback consistently.
And I think adding that duel to the roster that
the Giants have without letting nobody go, but just finding
ways and spots for them to actually be on the
field at the same time or substituting them so they
(20:16):
have fresh, fresh pass rushers on every single passing situation.
I think that is ideal for what the Giants want
to get done.
Speaker 2 (20:23):
Yeah, it's going to be no picnic, that's for sure, Jonathan,
you says, I'm so glad you called today. Good to
good to hear from you, my man.
Speaker 7 (20:30):
Thank you.
Speaker 5 (20:31):
Tellas I'm a little under the weather. I sound a
little rasty right now yourself.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
Hey, most importantly, you're already in rhythm talking football. You
guys be good, Jonathan. Thanks always, good to hear from
from j C.
Speaker 4 (20:46):
That was a nice, pleasant surprise.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
It really was. I I had I had. I thought
he was going to call in and start talking about the.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
Next I wasn't sure as well.
Speaker 2 (20:54):
That well, you know, Pierson never would have let him
on if he had said he wanted to talk next.
I'm sure he would have told Johnny Mack and not
get did I call?
Speaker 4 (21:01):
But one thing that you know, jac was just talking
about towards the end there about you know how important
it's going to be for the Giants to fluster all
of the quarterbacks that they faced this year. I know
I brought this up on the show before, but of
the giants seventeen games, six of them are against quarterbacks
that were drafted last year. So second year quarterbacks who
(21:21):
have obviously do not have a whole ton of experience
under their belts. I mean, Jade and Daniels had a
phenomenal rookie season, but he's still a young quarterback going
into just his second season. I think he's twenty two
years old. JJ McCarthy did not play at all last year.
Drake May, Caleb Williams, bon Nicks. These guys are I mean,
(21:41):
Bonix is on slightly on the older side, but these
guys are all second year quarterbacks that can be confused
depending on you know, the complexity of the defense that
you know, Shane Bowen or whatever the opponent is, you know,
shows them. These are guys that can get a little
flustered and you can surprise them, give them disguise as
new looks that they haven't really seen before. And when
(22:03):
you have a talented pass rush, and especially a pass
rushing unit that can get after the quarterback with honestly
only four guys, like we saw the Eagles do in
the Super Bowl, that's how you can get really creative
on defense and really fluster a young.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
Quarter The only caveat there that would somewhat diminish that impact.
And John and I talked about this the other day.
The coaches on that schedule, for sure, are literally like
a mount rushmore of current NFL coaches, this is a
great list of opponented coaches.
Speaker 4 (22:35):
There's a reason why the Giants have the number one,
you know, hardest strength of schedule. It's because these opponents
are almost a whole well coached, have good.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
Teams, good teams, and terrific coaches, some of the best
in the league. I mean, it's going to be one
heck of a mountain. Mcclimb. All right, let's get let's
get to the phone calls. Ronnie and Atlanta, your first
of the show.
Speaker 4 (22:59):
Hello, Hey, how you doing good to talk to Ronie?
Speaker 8 (23:03):
Good good?
Speaker 9 (23:04):
How you doing guys?
Speaker 3 (23:05):
Hey, listen, I am just full of optimism about the season.
I think we're gonna be okay. I'm just I'm just
worried about our wider receiving corps. Reason being is, I
don't know what's going on with it Gabe Davis negotiations,
but I would feel more comfortable if he's on the
other side of Malik because of his experience, and I
(23:26):
think he would add a dimension to our offense. You
know that that could bring it upscale. What do you
guys think about that?
Speaker 2 (23:33):
Let me ask you two questions. Number one, what makes
you think he's better than Darius Slayton, Because I'm not
sure that he is.
Speaker 4 (23:43):
I was just about to say Darius Slayton has played
one more year than Gabe Davis in the NFL and
has had more consistent success in his career than Gave
Davis has had.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
Right, And and that reason is I think that I
could be wrong, but I think that Gave Davis is
more of a contested catcher than Slayton. I don't look
at Slayton as more of a contested catcher. I look
at Slayton as more of an over the middle slant
or he can stretch the defense, obviously with a speed,
but that guy that can get up and go get
(24:15):
it in the midst of a crowd. I looked more
of Gabe Davis as well as Malik Davis as those
type of receivers.
Speaker 2 (24:21):
I think Matt's word consistency is important to note here.
If Gabe Davis was as consistently playing at a high
level that he was supposed to when he came out
of school, the Bills would have kept him. They would
have resigned him. He would not have been a free
agent that wound up going to Jacksonville for a pretty
decent buck. Look. I like Gabe Davis. I think he's
(24:44):
a good player. I'm sorry though I could not give
away Darius Slayton snaps to him. I don't think you
could either.
Speaker 4 (24:51):
No, I just think Darius Slayton has shown more, and
especially in you know, well. Gave Davis obviously had success
Ryan Dable's system years ago, but Darius Slayton has now
had you know, three three seasons playing in this system. Yeah,
playing pretty well. I mean last year was his lowest numbers,
(25:12):
And honestly, I think we can all agree that a
big portion of that, not all of it, but some
of that is due to just the inconsistent quarterback play
that the Giants had. Darius Slayton is just you know,
he's You're right that he's not the you know, he's
not the guy that's going to go out and get
you eight contested catches a game. That's just not his
style of play. He's capable of the contested catches like
(25:33):
he has that ability, But the number one guy on
the Giants' roster that fits that bill right now is
obviously Molikue Neighbors. He did it as a twenty one
year old rookie last year on an almost weekly basis.
He was, you know, grabbing balls, grabbing footballs outside out
of defender's hands like he will look like that. It
was week three against or week two or three against
(25:54):
the Browns. One of his catches that he literally leaped
over the defender took the ball out of the defenders
for an amazing, like twenty thirty yard grab. The belief,
Neighbors is they guy in the Giants roster that's going
to make those contesting So, Ronnie.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
I think that's the first thing that would I would
push back on. The second item is Joe Shane was
just on with Kay Adams the other day and said
it was a get to know you meeting with Gabe Davis.
I tried to slow down everybody's role last week when
the report came out that he was coming here. He's
coming off of a moniscus repair last year. Okay, So
(26:30):
to me, that was a due diligence meeting that the
Giants did with him. And basically that's what Joe Shane,
without using the words due diligence, he said, it was
a get to know you meeting. Well, they know who
he was from the past, but this was kind of
a get to know you update. This wasn't because they
were looking to sign him when he got here. This
was let's sit down, let's talk, Let's see where you're at,
(26:51):
Let's see where we're at, Let's see what your medicals
are doing, and maybe just maybe down the road, maybe
there's a fan. But if you're Gabe Davids, and I've
asked callers this on the show before, if you're gonna
be behind Slayton Robinson and neighbors and you're gonna be
the fourth receiver on the Giants depth chart, are you
really looking for that deal or are you're gonna try
(27:14):
to go to a team bless you by the way,
that may have you as the number two or the
number three receiver on the depth chart, I mean opportunity.
As far as the Giants are concerned, I see him
as a fourth receiver.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
I think he could potentially maybe push maybe for that
third receivers maybe or at least, you know, be the
guy that's giving Darius Slayton some plays off. But I agree,
I really don't see him. He's not I don't think
he's gonna go above one of those other top I mean,
obviously not Malik. He's a completely different style player than Wandell.
(27:52):
He's not a you know, shifty slot receiver, so that
would basically leave Darius Slayton. We just discussed our reasoning
behind why we are more confident in Darius Slayton. So
I still think that a deal could get done at
some point over the next two months. But as we
see every year, I personally, I don't think I think
that would be a situation where it's more we're getting
(28:13):
towards very close to the start of training camp. I
feel like the last couple of summers, in the days
leading up to the start of training camp, the Giants
have signed a veteran or two almost every year, right
like the two one to two days before training camp.
I don't know this for sure, obviously, I feel like
if the Gabe Davis situation were to lead to an
(28:35):
eventual signing, it would probably be closer to that date
after the Giants go through the spring workouts OTAs and
give their current receiver group a chance to really show
what they what they can do with this new quarterback room.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
I would say this, Ronnie, if he really wants to
come here and wants to re establish himself as a
player and is willing to be at least three and
a half or four on the depth chart, right, God
bless him because he'd be one of the best number
four receivers in the NFL. That'd be great.
Speaker 4 (29:05):
I'm not saying that I.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
Don't want the player. I'm simply saying to you, given
the circumstances in the fit, I'm not so sure that
he won't try to find a better fit somewhere else.
That's really what I'm what I'm telling you.
Speaker 3 (29:18):
But my question is, wouldn't it be better, I mean,
just listening to this wide receiving course, if we had
neighbors in Slayton, along with Lindale and then of course
Gabe Davis. And then we have Hyatt coming off the
bench along with I don't know, maybe one of the
other guys you at UDFA or or one of the
(29:39):
special team.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
Okay, well that brings another question, Oh, Ronnie, that brings
a third question into play. And I wasn't even going
to go there, but it is. It is a relevant question.
If you're going to sign Gabe Davis, you're basically burying
Hyatt and you're going to give up on him. Basically
after two years, you're kind of giving up on him
because this is year three. It's the year he's got
(30:01):
to step forward and he's got to produce.
Speaker 4 (30:04):
It is time.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
It is a showy year for Jalen Hyatt. Well, if
you're gonna sign Gave Davis, Jalen Hyatt's now the fifth
receiver on your depth chart. And oh, by the way,
he doesn't play specials. Gave Davis doesn't play specials. Slayton
doesn't play specials. Neighbors can return kicks, but he's not
a special teams guy, and Robinson's not playing specials. That's
(30:26):
the other problem. Run in two. You want an entire
wide receivers room where none of those guys play special teams.
Bryce Ford Waitton is here too, and he does play specials.
Marsette is also and Marsett is here as a kick
return guy. I just don't know that there's a fit.
Speaker 4 (30:44):
Yeah, that's why I like when I, you know, saw
the reports about you know, Gave Davis coming in for
a visit, and we kind of speculate or thought about
what the fit might be. I kind of saw it
like if the Giants do end up agreeing to a
deal with Gave Davis chance, it will be a one
year sort of prove it deal. Sure. I kind of
look at it similarly to how the Giants signed Alan
(31:07):
Robinson a year ago, and he went through the offseason
training camp with the team and then didn't end up
making the team, Like looked okay during preseason, ended up
catching on. I forgot where I think he went, Troit Detroit,
maybe two different teams, But like that's sort of how
I see this situation potentially playing out, Like they might
(31:29):
eventually agree to a deal with him to give him
a shot to see what he can do throughout the summer.
But even if they do, I don't think it's depending on,
obviously the structure of the deal. I don't think it
would be one hundred percent guaranteed that he would then
make the team, given more how he looked last year.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
More than likely he's on the short list.
Speaker 4 (31:47):
Like if somebody gets hurt in the spring of the summer,
more than likely that's a call you made quickly to
get somebody in here.
Speaker 2 (31:53):
Who has a clue as to what he's doing. But
but again, I don't know how you feel about Jalen Hyatt,
but I think the Giants really would still like to
see if there's an outside chance they can get him
to be what he's supposed to be. Yet I don't
think they're quite ready to give up on him.
Speaker 9 (32:09):
I like that kid.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
Okay, Well, if you signed Dave Davis, Jalen hya at
your fifth receiver, which means you know there could be
weeks where he doesn't even get a jersey, how does
that help?
Speaker 3 (32:21):
Yeah, it doesn't help. Yeah, I guess, I guess I
didn't look at it in that aspect. But yeah, because
I love Hyde, I love his speed, I love his upside,
And you're right, maybe Russell Wilson or Jamis Winston or
even dark can be that quarterback to exploit him.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
Finally, maybe maybe I know this. Russell Wilson has talked
about him a few times now, He's mentioned his name
when he has talked to the media.
Speaker 4 (32:46):
Yeah, and Russell Wilson's just one of his strengths is
throwing that deep ball. Yeah, as he said it like
dropping the ball in a bucket thirty forty yards down
the field. That is one of his strengths. And obviously
that would benefit Jalann High it greatly that having a
quarterback that is really able to do that and do
it on a consistent basis.
Speaker 3 (33:06):
Thanks Ronnie, that makes sense.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
Thank you have a great day. Appreciate the call.
Speaker 4 (33:10):
Thanks Ronnie.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
Two on one nine three nine four five one three.
It looks like we've got line to Wilson in Roxbury. Hey,
how's it going, Hey ply yea, sir.
Speaker 7 (33:23):
Matt, how are you guys doing. It's been a while.
We'll send to my buddy Johnna then, you know, yeah, well.
Speaker 2 (33:31):
Hey we'll catch up to him. Shoot ear later, I
promise you.
Speaker 7 (33:34):
Yeah, yeah, okay, Pully, listen, Yeah, you're not gonna like
we You're not gonna like anything that I'm gonna say
you're a man. But you know I love you, Matt.
You know I love you, right.
Speaker 4 (33:44):
I love how you start your call with. You're not
gonna like what I said.
Speaker 2 (33:47):
Try try to be concise to the point in factual.
That's all I ask.
Speaker 7 (33:52):
Oh, well, I I am. I know that you guys
you know, like Brian David and Joe Shay personally, That's fine.
Speaker 9 (33:59):
What can you do me a favorite?
Speaker 2 (34:01):
Pully?
Speaker 7 (34:02):
Let him play one game first before you start making excuses. Pully,
I love you. But when you and Matt that poor
Glenn from Maryland that there's a there's a realistic chance
that they can starting four, and Matt tells him they
can start one in three, but you know by game
five things might be positive. Pully. I want to grab
(34:24):
my DV and throw it at the window.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
No no, no, no where wa wa wa wa. We'll see,
we'll see if.
Speaker 7 (34:31):
They starting four. I want the kid, the false Gitars
in the bathroom fire.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
Wilson. Wilson, hold on a second, Hold on a second,
but the the ration. Now, I'm not gonna shit here
and tell you the Giants are going to go to four.
But you have to recognize anything is possible, including a
horrible scenario such as that, and and as I I
(35:00):
never been more emphatic about Willington marriage theory about you know,
you expect the worst and hope for the best. And
when you keep that theory in the back of your mind,
it transcends to keep you grounded so that you don't
get too carried away.
Speaker 4 (35:18):
That's all. And Wilson, Wilson, that's wait, wait, Wilson.
Speaker 7 (35:22):
Agree with you completely. I think this year, I hate
to say it, it's going to be a dumbst fire.
I have no expectations whatsoever. No, that's not the point
that I'm trying to make to you. That I'm trying
to make to you is that if we start alling
forward right, you cannot tell me about rainbow and about
and about roses and about it. Listen, but look, at
(35:44):
this point, there is no positives if they are all for.
I don't want a plane flying over over the stadium.
I want like a rocket ship flying over the stadium.
Speaker 2 (35:53):
Wait, Waitte, Wilson, Hold, let not go here for a second,
all right, And then and then I want to I
want to get something clear with you.
Speaker 4 (36:00):
First of all, when Paul and I spoke about this
last week, even John and I on the huddle schedule reaction.
We never said that an zero and four start there
would be you know, you'd be able to turn some
positives out of it, we said, And I did say this.
I said, there is a way where you could start
one in three and in those three losses, play very
extremely close competitive games, be in those three games until
(36:23):
the very end against three likely playoff teams, still lose,
and then go into Week five being one and three
and not feeling like the sky is falling. That is
what I said, and I still agree. I still feel
that way, and that's fair because you will be playing
the Saints. And don't get me wrong, that doesn't mean
anyone is happy with one in three, because no one
would be happy starting one in three. But it wouldn't
(36:46):
be It wouldn't be quite the same as you know,
it wouldn't be quite the same as starting one in
three in twenty It wouldn't be quite the same as
starting one and three in the twenty twenty three season,
where that one win was the miraculous second half comeback
against the Cardinals. It would be different from that situation.
That is all we were trying to say. No one's
gonna turn around and tell you one in three is
a good promising start that people are happy.
Speaker 2 (37:08):
About a night.
Speaker 7 (37:09):
Let me tell let me, let me tell you what
eighty percent of Giants fans called now some. I mean
this a lot. I respect all the callers, but when
people tell me that they have they have a good
vibe and girl expectations, they don't know.
Speaker 10 (37:22):
They don't.
Speaker 7 (37:23):
They're just saying that because they want to say that.
I'm gonna tet something right now. I don't care if
we play a Super Bowl winning team every every weekend
for seventeen games. If the Giants don't make the playoffs
this year, I don't now seven wins, eight wins. I
don't care. If they don't make the playoffs, everybody should
be gone because I don't want to hear any more improvement. Man,
(37:45):
this is year four of this reg You may and
all I all I hear is they win, They win
the draft, They have the best draft all the time,
and they always seem the team that's going up. You know,
it's got the arrow pointed up. And at the end
of the day, we have nine games in two years.
I don't want any more excooses, man, I don't care
if you play the Kansas City Chiefs Kelly seventeen.
Speaker 2 (38:08):
Games, Wills Willson, do me a favor, Do me a favor.
Take your hypotheticals, Okay, throw them in the kitchen cupboard,
and deal with reality when we get to that point.
If you want, we could.
Speaker 5 (38:21):
We can.
Speaker 2 (38:22):
We can if you want to.
Speaker 4 (38:24):
If you can't, if you can't help yourself, but think
about negative hypotheticals for the next several months. We could.
Speaker 2 (38:32):
We could just ask you not to call until we
get to the third or fourth game of the regular season.
Speaker 4 (38:39):
We could do that.
Speaker 2 (38:39):
If you just want to wait and deal with reality
when reality comes, we could do that.
Speaker 7 (38:45):
The reason why I called was because you told Glenn
that I owe that. Oh in four there's still some
pos No no, no, no, no.
Speaker 5 (38:54):
No no no.
Speaker 9 (38:57):
He bothered me.
Speaker 7 (38:57):
I'm not gonna lie to let you bother me. It
bother me two years and Utah, poor Glenn.
Speaker 9 (39:05):
That an we can.
Speaker 4 (39:06):
Start a four wires.
Speaker 2 (39:09):
Here's what can be true, and I'm going to let
you go on this thought. It is absolutely true that
you can find individual positives within a game, certain units,
certain players. You can do that even though you lose
(39:29):
the game. That is possible, and I think what Matt
is talking about is to some degree that concept. You'll
be able to find some good if the Giants fight
through a one and three start and then play a
maybe hapless Saints team in Week five, giving them a
legitimate chance to be two and three and maybe get
(39:52):
back on the horse. I think that's kind of what
you're talking about, is that there are.
Speaker 11 (39:57):
Different different ways to get to two and two, one
and three, zero and four, four and oh, there are
different ways to get there. And then there are other
people who are so shallow and just look at the
surface of the onion and they think four and oh
is great, even though their team's been outplayed for four games,
(40:19):
and chances are they're whistling past the graveyard and they're
going to fall apart pretty soon. It's easy to say that,
I get it. I get it because the league cares
about your record. They don't care about how you got there,
they don't care about style points.
Speaker 2 (40:33):
This isn't college football. I understand that. But let's push
the hypotheticals away, throw them in the kitchen cupboard, and
let's deal with the reality when the season starts. How
about we do that? Wilson and then we'll be very
glad to talk to you. All right, if you want
to call us back any time before then, just try.
Speaker 4 (40:52):
To stay away from the hypotheticals because that's not gonna
help anybody right now. And look, obviously everyone would be
sit up here and say, yeah, we'd love to for
the Giants to start four and oh. Obviously everyone on
the team would say, well.
Speaker 11 (41:09):
No kidding, sign me up.
Speaker 2 (41:11):
When can we get that four and oh?
Speaker 4 (41:12):
Sign me up for three and one, even two and two.
But like, at the same time, you have to sort
of be realistic, have realistic expectations. This is a Giants
team that did just win three games last year, all right,
Like not using that as an excuse moving forward, but
you just have to temper expectations, like I don't think
(41:33):
anyone's expecting the Giants to go into the season and
be Super Bowl contenders. That is four and oh start
would be a super Bowl contender.
Speaker 2 (41:41):
I don't know the firstbody on the planet who's going
to pick the Giants to be favored in those first
four games exactly.
Speaker 4 (41:46):
So it's like that's why you just have to be
somewhat realistic. Obviously, in the grand scheme of things. If
the Giants were to go eight and nine in the season,
would that in the great like? Would that be a
fantastic sixth season?
Speaker 5 (42:01):
No?
Speaker 4 (42:01):
But considering how the last two years have gone, and
considering how young and up and coming the roster currently is,
an eight to nine season, what have you feeling extremely
good about the team's direction going into twenty twenty six.
Speaker 2 (42:16):
I'm taking into context. That's the point. Yes, that's the point.
All right, let's go back to the calls. Randy in California,
You're next, try to end and the insanity on this program.
Come on, Randy, I know you can do it.
Speaker 5 (42:30):
Oh you know I can.
Speaker 9 (42:31):
Brother, you know you guys would have to be follow Wilson.
I mean right after Wilson I got it. Oh wow, Okay,
so you can only go up.
Speaker 2 (42:41):
It's not a high bar.
Speaker 5 (42:43):
Okay.
Speaker 9 (42:43):
So this is coming from eighty five percent of the
fans out there because he was only eighty right. So
the season hasn't started. This is an entirely different team.
We have new players all over the place.
Speaker 2 (42:56):
It's over a third of the roster's been overturned already
and we haven't even got an opening day exactly.
Speaker 9 (43:02):
And it's gonna take a couple of weeks for us
to start gelling together. Our back in and are stopping
to run quarterback. Everything's gonna take time, So Wilson, blow
your role, bro right, We'll all get there together one
way or the other. It doesn't matter if we win
or lose. It's if we're playing better football. We're stopping
to run, we're getting actually more than ten to twelve
(43:25):
points on a scoreboard. Come on, guys, sure right, shut up,
and I'm sorry, but nobody's Super Bowl favorites until the
game is played. It doesn't matter what the newspapers say,
who's favorites or whatever. Right, it's about the end of
the season, So slow down, relax.
Speaker 4 (43:46):
Good points.
Speaker 9 (43:46):
Am I right or am I wrong?
Speaker 4 (43:48):
You're right, Randy.
Speaker 2 (43:49):
You know what it comes down to. Ultimately, people's frustrations
and emotions tend to overtake their logic. Really, that's what happens.
It takes a back seat when people are frustrated and impatient.
That's that's the bottom line. And that happens in all
walks of life. It has nothing to do with sports necessarily.
(44:10):
It happens in every day life.
Speaker 4 (44:13):
But I do understand, you know, fans like Wilson and
other fans that do sort of feel that way, just
given how the last what decade plus for Giants football
has gone. Like I, we all understand the frustration. We
are equally if not more frustrated. Oh yeah, coming to
the building every day and having to feel it. Like
for us, there's no separation like the you know, Giants
(44:36):
football is our lives livelihood, so we feel it very much.
Speaker 2 (44:40):
So you know, the one thing I would say, and
you brought it up at the beginning of your call,
and I think that may be one of the most
important things to keep in mind as we go through
the summer here, and that is the Giants they sunned
like fifteen free agents. I mean, these are guys who
they have plans for. They went and got a draft
(45:01):
class that, by almost every account is a really, really
high level draft class. So to assume that this team
won't be better is being foolish. You have to look
at the additions and you say, look, look at all
of this talent they've added.
Speaker 4 (45:20):
To the roster.
Speaker 2 (45:21):
The roster on paper is clearly a whole lot better
than it was last year. And that's the one piece
of speculation. If you want to chew on over the
summer that you need to chew on. The question becomes
how much better is the roster and what will it
lead to in terms of a record. None of us
(45:42):
know the answer to.
Speaker 4 (45:43):
That, So just be happy knowing that they didn't stand
pat and didn't look at a three win football team
and say, Okay, we got a three win football team,
We're going to pretty much just roll the whole thing.
Speaker 2 (45:54):
Back and not make many changes. Well, that's not what happened.
Speaker 4 (45:58):
Now. The defense is completely different. I mean this defense.
Obviously there's some core pieces that are still there from
last year, but there was a lot of additions made
on the defensive side of the ball. This defense now
has the potential to be a top tier unit. I'd
like I think we can all agree that the defense
has a very good chance of being the strength of
the twenty twenty five Giants football the Giants season. And
(46:21):
when it comes to the offense, I mean, obviously, the
last two years, the offense, or even more than that,
the last few years, the offense has been nowhere near
where anyone has wanted it to be. Of course, well,
the Giants went out and completely revamped the entire quarterback room,
the most important position in all football and obviously especially
on the offensive side of the ball. Completely changed the
(46:44):
entire room and brought in some proven veterans in addition
to the rookie and Jackson Dark where that room is
going to have a completely different look and feel that
it has ever before. Really, I can't remember any time
the Giants transforming their quarterback room from one season to
the next as much as they have this offseason. And
obviously a lot of the other pieces on offense, a
(47:06):
lot of the other pieces on the offense does look similar.
I mean, I do think there's more depth, especially on
the offensive line. Now that was a clearly a priority
going into the off season. But the quarterback room is
what's you know, hopefully changed this the Giants offense of
you know, misfortunes from the last couple of years. Like
if the quarterback, If the Giants can get good consistent
(47:29):
quarterback play, whether it's Russell Wilson, Jamis Winston, Jackson Dark,
Tommy DeVito, whoever's out there, they can get good consistent
play out of that position, the entire floor of the
offense is going to be raised, and that's gonna lead
to more points and lead to more competitive games, Rady anything.
Speaker 9 (47:46):
Else, and yeah, and the defense so too, because it's
going to raise the offensive line. Yeah, it's gonna give
the defense more arrest. They're gonna be able to get
after it more. But my one question was, are we
better off running a worth three than a three four
with the pass rush now that we have, I think
they've got you have a wonderful day.
Speaker 2 (48:06):
Thank you, Randy, appreciate it. Call again. I think the
Giants because of the additions that they've made, they've got
more versatile group now in their front seven. And I
would maintain to you that there may be sometimes when
you're gonna see four down up front. I could see
it happening. I hope Shane Bowen decides to get overly
(48:27):
creative and put some plays in where he's got four
down up front. And I'm not talking about putting the
two edge rushers in the ground. I'm never a fan
of that. But I think he's got many, many, many
more looks now that he can use because of the
additional defensive linemen that were not only signed in free agency,
but then they drafted Alexander in the draft. You know,
(48:50):
gold stand ledbetter Robert or Roy Harris, Robertson, Harris, Robertson
Harris of course duel. You know, Carter comes into the
mix as edge guy, but can play off ball as well.
Speaker 4 (49:03):
I'm telling you now, I've already been in the laboratory
and I've been up to three thirty in the morning
doing all kinds of things with the schematics that I've
seen or created on my own.
Speaker 2 (49:13):
I got a bunch of them. Now, you know, he
doesn't ask me, but I got a bunch of them.
I could see so many different ways to deploy this
front seven. I'm excited about it. I'm excited about it.
Speaker 4 (49:26):
Yeah, I said it earlier. I've said it on the
show in the past, the last couple of weeks. But
Chambo has all the pieces now to get as creative
as he wants as the defensive play caller. You know,
he can throw out so many different schemes, looks, disguises
now because of the various levels of talent at all
three levels of the defense. I mean, the Giants made
(49:47):
additions to all three levels of the defense, and especially
the defensive front and the secondary big changes.
Speaker 2 (49:55):
That's where most of the you know.
Speaker 4 (49:57):
Offseason resources were allocated towards those two groups. So it's
up to Shamee Bowen. Now he has all these pieces,
he's gotta find it. You know, it's up to him
to obviously find the best ways to put the best
combination of players together in certain positions to get the
best out of this unit.
Speaker 2 (50:13):
You guys know I love food, right, So I'm gonna
make this analogy for you. The giants now have a
tablespoon and a tea spoon. They got a fork, They
got a salad fork. They got a steak knife. They
got a steak they got a butter knife. They got
all those pieces in the kitchen drawer to do a
lot of stuff with. Last year, they didn't. They had
(50:35):
a fork, but they didn't have a salad fork. They
had a knife, but they didn't have a steak knife.
They didn't have a butter knife. They had a tablespoon,
but they didn't have a tea spoon. Now they've got
a full kitchen drawer of utensils. If Shamee Bowen really
wants to be creative, he can add a whole bunch
of chapters to that playbook and it could make the
(50:57):
Giants defense really really choice, all right, we go to
Lawrence in Florida. You're next on the program.
Speaker 7 (51:05):
Thanks for calling up a right, Thanks, yeah, thanks for
having me.
Speaker 8 (51:09):
I'm just tired of hearing about how how hard the
schedule is. Let the other teams worry about what the
Giants are gonna do. I think the Giant's gonna sneak
up on a lot of these teams. And yeah, you
keep here, you keep hearing about this, maloney. And now
with the Giants, please are gonna turn around? This reminds
me you're back when they got Phil Simms Alawrence Taylor,
(51:30):
the things started turning around. Now they got this new
quarterback in the new defensive guy.
Speaker 2 (51:37):
To me, it's the same.
Speaker 8 (51:38):
I think the Giants can uh sneak up on a
lot of teams. They're gonna be like Washington was last
year because they're not. They're right in the Giants office
as a lot as a win for them, and I
wish they played the Chiefs on the first first game
of these seasons. The only thing that scares me is
those uh. First of all, the easy team to talk about,
(51:59):
the the Saints, to me, I'm worried about them because
every time they go down there, they always lose.
Speaker 2 (52:05):
That super Dome was the House of ours. It really is.
Speaker 8 (52:10):
And then I don't like those primetime games because Giants
had jings. I remember the one time Giants are playing
the Cowboys. They took the lead of eleven seconds left.
They did an on site kick, the kick went out
of bounds. The Cowboys got in a four to complete
a one pass. It hit a lot now and they lost.
Still right, I just don't like those prime time games.
Speaker 2 (52:29):
They only have three of them though this year, at
least at the moment, there's always flex scheduling that could
change that. Giants have only won two of their past
seventeen primetime games. That's what it's been rough. It's been rough,
I understand.
Speaker 8 (52:45):
But I think the Giants can sneak up on people.
They got the good defense. I think it's the things
that really started to turn around. Gott to be positive. Wilson.
I like his enthusias. Its very enthusiastic, but he just
got let's see what happens for you get all excited.
He's getting himself worked up and that'sn't even happened yet.
Speaker 2 (53:00):
Uh that's and then that's Wilson for you. And he's
passionate I get it.
Speaker 8 (53:08):
I Scatago keeps forty four because I was gonna call
them last week about Ryan the Doug Colder and the
other some other guy called up about it. But a
couple of my favorite all time Giants was Colder and
and uh what, Bradshaw, I think they're forty four. The
fan's gonna, you know, get the fans all pumped up
even more because I not. They're gonna get excited. I'm
(53:29):
excited about this year.
Speaker 2 (53:30):
That's good.
Speaker 8 (53:30):
You should be, must be positively, you know what's going
And get these guys. Don't worry about how talk the
schedule with the other guys in the other divisions. They
have to play the same teams basically, I mean, our
division have to play basically the same teams. So let's them.
Let let them worry about the Giants. That's all I
got to say. I'll take you anything off there.
Speaker 4 (53:48):
But thanks for having great mentality, my man. Thank you
so much for the phone call. Call again, thank you
so the two things. I just want to mention with
what he was just talking about, Lawrence, thank you for
the call. I agree with what he was saying about.
You know, who cares how tough the schedule might look
you gotta obviously gotta go will go out and play
the games. But as we've talked about those first four games,
(54:12):
let's just look at the first four. Everyone is going
to count the Giants out of all four of those games.
They're going to be big underdogs. Even at home against
the Chiefs and Chargers, they are going to be big
underdogs in those games. No one's giving them a chance.
So the pressure is on the other team to win
more so than it is for the Giants, because every
no one expects them to win. So I feel like
(54:33):
that puts more of the pressure on the opponents, which
in which case you got nothing to lose. Really, just
go out, obviously we expect the level of play overall
to be better. Just go out and see what you
can do. And then the other thing I just wanted
to mention, and I get where Lawrence is coming from,
because I don't know how many years you want to
go back, but primetime has has not treated the Giants
(54:57):
well in the last however many years. But Russell Wilson
has been rather successful in primetime in his career. He's
had a lot of success. He has a great record
in primetime. His stats. You know, he has an extremely
high passer rating in primetime.
Speaker 2 (55:19):
That could maybe change the.
Speaker 4 (55:21):
Giants' fortunes when it comes to those games under the
bright lights, because Giants in primetime last year one, because
you know, it's it's no secret that Daniel Jones struggled
in primetime. His struggles sometimes went beyond that, but especially
in primetime, the numbers weren't the best. Russell Wilson is
(55:43):
kind of on the opposite end of that spectrum in
terms of his numbers in primetime, So maybe our fortunes
in primetime are about to change. Don't just All I'm
saying is, don't papoo those night games, because that'll give
the Giants a chance to show the entire nation that
they are a much better football team this year.
Speaker 2 (56:01):
I'm happy there's only three.
Speaker 4 (56:03):
Well, yeah, for us. Night games are kind of brutal
for us personally.
Speaker 2 (56:07):
Don't be begging for more.
Speaker 4 (56:10):
Not I'm just saying I'm not looking at those three
games with quite as much you know, doom and gloom
as I might have in previous years. That's all I meant.
Speaker 2 (56:19):
Pierson, Johnny Mack, either one of you give me an
update on what's going on. In terms of the huddle
this week, I know John is on vacation, but he
did say he had some stuff in the can that
he was hoping you guys might might be able to access.
Speaker 10 (56:32):
Yep, I just put up the Brian Baldinger huddle where
he talks about our entire draft class. Okay, that's on
podcast platforms. I'm not sure if it's up on the
web and YouTube yet, but it should be soon. And
then Thursday we're gonna have Thomas Fedoni's tight ends coach
from Nebraska, Marcus Sadderfield. Okay, he just kind of dives
into his game, which is a good interview too.
Speaker 2 (56:53):
All right, good stuff, thank you.
Speaker 4 (56:56):
All right.
Speaker 2 (56:56):

Speaker 2 (57:55):
I was all ready to get ready for training camp
last week as we started getting nice, nice one temperatures,
and now I'm not so sure.
Speaker 4 (58:02):
Yeah, I think today is the warm day of the week.
It's only going down for the rest of that. That's
what they're telling Man. Some rain. It's not all I'm saying.
I'm glad OTA start next week. Yes, hopefully next week's

bit about the non media days, just we're maybe not
quite as much. Yeah, not as much, not as much,
