Speaker 4 (00:26):
Happy Tuesday.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Everybody.

Speaker 4 (00:27):
Welcome to the Big Blue Kickoff Live presented by Cadillac,
the official luxury vehicle of the Giants. Johnsh malc Pauldatino
with you taking your calls if we get to them. Today.
We have a fun little game. I guess we're plying
a little contest whatever you want to call it, that
might take the whole show if if it doesn't, we
will take your calls at two A one nine three
nine four five one three. Today we are going to
be doing our NFC East player draft, where Paul and

(00:50):
I will both select eleven players on offense and defense,
so twenty two players each and then a punter, a kicker,
a return person, and then your offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator,
and head coach and we're gonna put our teams together.
Is not a separate draft for the coaches and the players.
They're all together into one thing. So if you think

(01:11):
the head coach is really important, pick them first. Overall,
that's how we're doing this. So everything everyone's gonna get
put together in one big pile here. So that's what
we're going to do. But really quick, before we get
to that, we want to update you on what happened
at OTAs today. We're in the podcast studio, brought to
you by Hacking Sack Maarnine Health. Keep getting better, Paul,
another good day for the offense. Corter Flott had a

(01:33):
pick in this and in the practice he did a
nice job. Wait did Flot have to pick? No, Holland
had to pick. Sorry, he had to pick. Crashing down
over the middle early in practice. But the Russell Wilson
Jalen Hyatt combination continues to pick up steam a great
deal does it? And then an awesome back shoulder throw
on the right sideline. And then Jamis Winston had a

(01:53):
connection and the names escaping me, who's the undrafted rookie
out of well Bo.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Collins snacking different catches today during team drill.

Speaker 4 (02:00):
And two from Jamis Winston went over the top and
two over the top. One on the right side line
one kind of on a little flag route on one
of the hash between the hash marks and the numbers.
So those are the big offensive players on that side
of the ball.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Lane had safety had an interception early too in the
in the first team drill. I wanted to get his
get his.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
Other defense, remember that.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Yeah, he intercepted to dart over the middle.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
But you know, was Holland.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
I had forty three?

Speaker 4 (02:27):
I think it was eight.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
There's a big difference between forty three and eight.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
Did you see the Holland interception as well?

Speaker 2 (02:34):
I did not see the Holland.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
It was not forty three. It was eight, Okay, ninety
nine percent sure, So Attack and I both had Holland
with the pick.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Okay, okay, I look, I could have I was talking
to somebody in the medical staff for a minute, so
I might have missed Holland's pick, but I could have
sworn Lane had one too.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
But okay, thought it was only Hollan. That's all right,
That's okay, fine.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
And in any event, well, we were inside today of
course in the field. That was because it really drenched
earlier this morning. Yeah, it was rough. Deba had a
nice defense on the sideline. Did you see that? Okay,
that was the beginning of practice in the seven on sevens.
You know, all I can say is this blot had.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
A pass breakup on the left side, not a pick that.
He had a pass breakup.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Winston had one throw which we talked about after it happened.
One of the catchers by Collins. Winston did one of
these three quarter arm deals.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
Where I was on the crossing route over there. Yeah, right, yea,
I will say this, and then on the deep bat
by the way, he did a great job looking the
safety off and getting the ball on the right sideline.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Jamis Winston has really nice tools. The problem is they
don't always work exactly the way you'd want them.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
I mean, he practices like he plays. The flashes are spectacular.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
That's exactly what happened. There are some dips too, That's
exactly it. Yeah, he is inconsistent. By the end of
the day. After every practice, you always wind up saying
to yourself, man, he made a few nice throws, And
then you also say to yourself, he missed a few throws. Yeah,
it happened to every practice.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
He's gotten progressively better as it's gone along, though. I
think his last couple of practices have probably been his
percentage of better throws has been higher recently.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
I agree with that. I think quite frankly, the last
two practices Dart slipped a little bit, you know, as
opposed to early on when he came out like a
house of fire. He's had a few more miscues or
misfires than he was having in the earlier practices. That's
not to say he's done badly, because he continues to

(04:41):
throw the ball well, but i'd say just, you know,
not quite as sharp as he was earlier on.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
Now I'm with you. I think that's fair, all right, Paul.
I'm trying to find where I didn't my notes here
for this, but I can't find it. I'm gonna have
to do this kind of just lie by the seat
of my pants here. I'm trying to find my notes
for the UH for for our little contest today, and
where they are.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Could I add just one other item about it?

Speaker 4 (05:05):
Please go ahead? Yeah, Well, they'll give you time to
time to find this, okay.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Good. Daniel Bellinger a diving grab from Russell Wilson which
was really sweet and the teammates really really celebrated it
because it was a marvelous athletic catch by Bellinger that
was in eleven on eleven's That was really sweet. The
other item was THEO Johnson a one handed stab as

(05:31):
he reached up in the back of the end zone
and pulled it in from Wilson. Wilson put it where
nobody else could get it, and Johnson went up, climbed
the stairs and one handed brought it down. So both
of the Giants' lead tight ends on the depth chart
came up with nice grabs today. I thought that was
kind of nice. But I do think the offensive star

(05:54):
of the day was Bo Collins. Yeah, and I think
Hyatt was the second one. Hyatt would be the number
two guy. Yeah, because they had multiple catches.

Speaker 4 (06:02):
Yeah, absolutely, all right. Do you want to get into
our player draft here?

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Sure? All right?

Speaker 4 (06:06):
Do you want to flip a coin again, I'll bring
it up.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
Doesn't matter for me. It's half a dozen of one
six or the other, alright, So want me to go first? Sure?
Why not?

Speaker 4 (06:16):
I'll go first. All right, my first pick, And again, folks,
I explained the rules. So we're gonna going one by
one here. I'm gonna sect Dexter Lawrence. I think he's
you know, one of the best players in the entire division.
I don't think it's a position of strength as much
as some of the other ones. And I think he
is a unique talent that I'm not going to find

(06:38):
a replication of anywhere else in the division. So my
first pick is going to be Dexter Lawrence. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
And for that reason. Also, when you consider guys who
are either offensive or defensive Player of the Year candidates,
you'd have to believe that those are the guys who
are going to come off the board very very quickly.

Speaker 4 (06:56):
Yeah, that's correct.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
So Michael Parsons for me, oh how about that have
to be my first pick?

Speaker 4 (07:01):
I thought you're biased. Part of my mental strategy here,
I thought you're gonna be biased against him, so I
did not pick him first.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
Okay, no, that's fine. I mean, my my, my feelings.
Remember what do we talk about the other day? And
it's funny, somebody wrote on one of the one of
the YouTube side after the show. You know, Paul doesn't
always understand the directions or you know, look, I get
the directions. The question between best player or player you

(07:33):
like is a different question, and in this particular case,
you didn't ask me about players I liked. If you had,
Michael Parsons probably would not have been my first pick.
Not there, but that's not what you asked.

Speaker 4 (07:45):
All right, I'm I'm loading up here, Paul, I'm loading up. Okay,
here we go. You know who you want next to
big Dexter Lawrence. You want a quick, explosive three technique
that can get after the quarterback, Jalen Carter.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
Please, yes, totally understand.

Speaker 4 (08:01):
I will take Jalen Carter. And there's the middle of
my look, gonna be building through the trenches as Paul
takes fancy pass rushers. Let's go.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
Yeah, hey, I get it. I get it.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
And by the way, I thought Mike Indexter should have
been the first two guys pick, So I think that
made sense. Now I think it gets a little more
interesting in terms of strategy you want to take.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
I'm taking sake one boy.

Speaker 4 (08:21):
And he was on my he was in my top
five as well. All right, so now knowing how this works,
I'm not I'm not gonna have to touch a running
back now until like the last pick in the draft
is Caral's not gonna pick a second one correct, and
there's no clear cut second one that you have to have.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
I'm telling you that right now. I'm not taking a
second one. I could if I wanted to run a
pro set, but I'm not going.

Speaker 4 (08:40):
And I should bring this up by the way, so
right now, and I'm keeping track of how many guys
from each team gets selected as well. So we got
four players, two from Philly, one from the Giants, one
from the Cowboys. I'm running Paul build this the way
he wants. So, if he wants to run a two
tight end offense, he can run a two tight end offense.
If he wants to run base defense, he can run
base defense, he can run nickel if he wants. Same
for me. So is not gonna mirror each other necessarily.

(09:02):
We just want to get the best eleven on the
field we can. Yeah, as we build these lineups, Okay,
I'm gonna select with my next pick, I'm gonna go
Lane Johnson, right tackle, Philadelphia. H I don't think there's
another elite right tackle in the division. I think he
stands out. I think there's a few left tackles that
are really good. Well, I think the only right And
you don't have to you can you don't have to

(09:24):
do it that way, but I liked, I was.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
Just gonna ask you that are we are? We definitely
locked into left guard, right guard, left tackle right here,
and if you want to put one of the left
tackles at right tackle, you can, but I'm gonna but
I'm gonna take that.

Speaker 4 (09:35):
As an advantage because I have a guy that's actually
set up at that spot. And frankly, you can argue
he's the best offensive lineman in the division. On top
of that, yeah, you know, he's a permial pro bowler.
He's fantastic. He's really really good. So I'm gonna continue
to build up through the trenches and I'm going to
go right tackle Lane Johnson.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
And that's why Andrew Thomas was next on my list.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
Really with the injury issues, you're taking Andrew Thomas, Yeah
over Jordan my lotta.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
I yeah, I gotta, I gotta do it. I've gotta
do it. I gotta do it.

Speaker 4 (10:06):
Andrew Thomas de Pault left tackle. As now we're gonna
start to we have a little run here. We'll see
we have a couple of good offensive tackles off, so
I'm not sure you're necessarily gonna have to have a
huge run here, because you got two guys left that
are that are pretty darn good. Okay, I'm gonna go.
Let's see where else do I see a sore thumb
of a guy that is a perennial pro bowler. Okay,

(10:27):
so I'm gonna go here. Then I am gonna continue
to bit about the offensive line and the guy that
I think stands out as by far the best guard
in the division. I'm gonna go Tyler Smith from the
Dallas Cowboys. I think he's the only I think he's
much better than Landon Dickerson or significantly better. And I
think he stands out as a as a guard that

(10:48):
just can be dominant and just be really good inside.
So I'm gonna go with Tyler Smith from the Cowboys
as my selection here.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
Okay, that's that's that's understandable. Uh let's see where did
I have him on my list here? No, I didn't
have him on my list at all, believe it or not. Okay, yeah,
uh all right, let's see here. I'm going to Uh.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
Oh, we've had seven players go, not one Commander's player yet.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
Well, I don't know what to say about it.

Speaker 4 (11:23):
Went to the NFC title game. I think it's interesting.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
It is interesting. I don't know how to explain it.
But it's just the way it it's just the way
it's falls. Okay, I'm gonna have to uh, I'm gonna go.
I have to go to uh to Jurgons at center.

Speaker 4 (11:42):
Oh, you're going center.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (11:44):
I think he's by far the best center.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
It's in the division.

Speaker 4 (11:46):
It's the same theory that I use a Tyler Smith. Right,
you're picking the guy that kind of stands out of
that one particular position. I totally get where you're going
with that. All right, I think that makes sense. So
that's Jurgens another Eagle. All right, So I am going
to go now. Now, now you're trying to find you're
trying to squeeze value right and get guys that maybe
aren't deep at certain positions. But I do think you

(12:07):
have to just make sure you kind of just get
the best players on your team too. So I don't
think you should start picking guys that aren't you know,
Pro Bowls, Pro Bowl guys, Shore Fire Pro Bowl guys yet.
So I'm gonna go. It's such a coin flip between
these two guys. I want both of them. I don't
know which one to pick or maybe, you know, maybe
I'll go a different position. I'm gonna go. I'm gonna

(12:28):
go AJ Brown as the first receiver off the board
from the Eagles. And the reason I decided to go
with Brown in that group, I just think from a
speed physicality standpoint outside, he's just a beast where he
can out physical guys for the football, come down with them,
make big plays. I'm gonna go with AJ Brown as

(12:49):
my next pick here. Okay, so that's Philadelphia Eagle number five.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
Mm. Yeah, that's that's not a surprise, right, they were
already starting to dominate the damn list. Correct. Oh man,
I'm going to uh take Tunsul at tackle pick. I'm
gonna go, uh yeah, we finally got a Washington guy.

Speaker 4 (13:12):
So that's your right tackle.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Yeah, that's my right tackle.

Speaker 4 (13:16):
That's fine, I'm gonna go.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
I felt bad for Washington. I wanted to get him
on the board.

Speaker 4 (13:22):
Yeah, And I think you can actually make an make
a You can make a have a debate as to
which offensive tackle you pick next. With my lot is
also very you can have that debate. But the Tunsil's fine,
all right, So now I don't have to pick my
lotta for a while. I can let him sit there.
That makes me feel good, Yes you can, alright, I'm
gonna double up on wide receiver. Man, I'm on my weapons.
I didn't get the weapon of running back. I'm my
weapons a wide receiver. Give me, give me cd Lamb,

(13:42):
please Lamb. I'll be rolling with A J. Brown and
Ceede Lamb as my two wide receivers.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
I feel pretty deep, pretty good about that. Okay, let's
see here. Uh. I think I'm going to go Mitchell

(14:08):
at cornerback. Okay, I think he's the best corner I
think that's a good pick. It's a freaking other eagle.

Speaker 4 (14:15):
He took the words out of it about to say
the same thing, all right, So then we got cornerback.
We got second year player too. That's that shows what
a good pick that was last year corner off the
border high. That is pretty pretty good if if if
you're putting on Mitchell getting picked that high. Yes, sir, okay,

(14:37):
this is interesting. Now where do I want to go next?
I have a couple of different options. I feel I
don't feel like there's much of a difference between the
top two quarterback, which is the only reason I have
not taken a quarterback yet, but if I wind up
with any one of those two guys, I'm happy with it.
So I don't. I'm not gonna kind of attack that
before I have to. You know where I'm gonna go here.

(15:02):
I'm gonna select Javon Holland. I think he's the best safety, okay,
and I think there is a significant, fairly significant drop
off as you go from him to the next safety
on the list. What is it, Malik Hooker, Tyler Neuban.
I do think there's a significant drop off when you
go from one to the next. So I want to

(15:24):
make sure I get the best guy at that position.
I'll take Javon Holland. That's Giant number three off the list.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
Okay, let's see here.

Speaker 4 (15:36):
Oh, I know I should I should have picked somebody else. Shoot, okay,
go ahead, I'm gonna it it myself.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
Going to take Neighbors, good pick.

Speaker 4 (15:43):
She was my next best wide receiver on the list.
That's a good pick. So that's Giant's number four off
the list, and Paul selects some Molak Neighbors. Okay, Well,
I'm gonna keep the I'm gonna keep the street going here. Actually,
when it comes to giants and I need an edge player,
and I think Brian Burns is by far the next
edge player yep left on the board. So I'm gonna
I'm gonna take Brian Burns to play next to Dexter

(16:04):
Lawrence and Jalen Carter. Inside, I think I feel pretty
good about that. And that's a New York Giant number five.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
Okay, you're up, sir, I'll take Thibodeau.

Speaker 4 (16:16):
Thibodeau interesting.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
I'm counting on a bounce back here from him.

Speaker 4 (16:22):
Okay, it's Giant number six, literally for my days. You
think he's definitely better than Nolan Smith and Dorri's armstrong.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
Well, let's put it this way. If if he does
what he's capable of, I think he is, but he's
got to reach his ceiling. If he doesn't reach his ceiling,
then he won't be.

Speaker 4 (16:42):
Yeah, I buy that. I'm on board with that.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
I think that's fair, and it is it is for
him an important year because that fifty year option will
be looming, very important. You know, I mean, he he
knows the story.

Speaker 4 (16:53):
I mean, he has the fifth year option.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
You know. What I'm saying is it's looming in that
that'll be the final year of his deal. If he
wants that extension, he's gonna have to play out now.

Speaker 4 (17:02):
Okay, I will take I'll take the other guard that
I think is a stand. Now give me Landon Dickerson,
guard from the Eagles, who I think is the next
Beeck's card in the division. I feel good about him,
and as I try to build out my offensive line here,
and he would be a left guard, I'll take.

Speaker 2 (17:17):
I'll take Cosmy right away.

Speaker 4 (17:18):
Then yep, and he cos Me is he he's the
right guard right and then if I'm not mistaken, right
hold on, I think I'm gonna just put the wrong
one in there. Yeah, I put that for you. That's
my bad, all right. So Landon Dickerson is me and
Sam Cosmy is you here, let's see Sam Cosmy okay.
And then Landon Dickerson was me at left guard, and
I got to add those to the list here for well,

(17:40):
I'll put LANDA Dickerson. I'm moving the right guard. That's fine,
that's not a big deal because I have Tyler Smith already.
But that's okay, okay, So did I I'm not sure
I did I add him ready to the list or no?
I don't remember. Shoot, how many Eagles have been taken already?
Let me make sure I know you're not one, two, three, four, five, six, seven. Okay, yeah,

(18:04):
so I think I did write him down already. Okay, perfect, Okay,
I'm up next to here. Let's see, so Cosmy's gone.
I don't need none of the guard I'm set with that.
I don't need to pick a run, the running back er,
a center. But is you already picked them? You have
both your tackles, right, I don't need to pick a tackle,
So let's go. I'm gonna go Zach Bond. I think
he's the best inside linebacker in the division. Last year

(18:26):
he played really really well. He's young, and I do
think there's one other inside linebacker that I think is
a good player that that still has, you know, playing
good football. But I think Zach Bond is a standout
at inside linebackers. I'm gonna go Zack Bond from the
Philadelphia Eagles.

Speaker 2 (18:40):
Okay, I'll take George Pickens. George Pickens really three receivers?

Speaker 4 (18:46):
You're going with three whiteouts? Okay, well that's your second
white out right?

Speaker 2 (18:50):
Well, uh, that's correct, Yes, And I'm gonna go with
three white outs. I'll let you know that now.

Speaker 4 (18:55):
Okay, I'm going with three whiteouts as well. So we're
we're on the same page with that, all right. So
you pick picking he was on my.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
List, Let's were more of the talent wise, Yeah, I.

Speaker 4 (19:03):
Think you have to, all right. So with that being
the case, I'm gonna go with the best. I'm gonna
try to nab snag what I think is the that's
another cowboy. I'm gonna select who I think is the
best tight end on the board. I'm gonna take Dallas
Goddard from the Philadelphi Eagles. Okay, thill out my one
tight end.

Speaker 3 (19:24):
Mm okay.

Speaker 4 (19:29):
Ah. So we're about halfway through right now. Just FYI
for the fans following along at home.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
Okay, uh, I'll take Digs at the other corner.

Speaker 4 (19:50):
Got the knee injuries, not practicing, Paul very risky.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
It's very risky, I know, very risky.

Speaker 4 (19:56):
I love Paul focusing on all the all the the
glitzy outside positions here. It's very it's very pol datino.

Speaker 2 (20:04):
It's very not like me.

Speaker 3 (20:07):
All right.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
So that's Trayvon Diggs. That's another Dallas cowboy. That's fine
for them all right. That's a good question. Now this
is where it gets a little interesting. How important is
it for me to get that player or should I
hold off on that? Okay, you know what I'm gonna
do here. You know, I think might be the best
overall coach in the whole division. I'm gonna select Vic

(20:28):
Fangio to be my defensive coordinator. I think he is
a standout coordinator. I think he is a difference making coordinator.
I don't think there are many of those around, So
I'm gonna I'm gonna draft Fangio to be my DC.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
Okay, Scary Terry McLaurin, Okay, becomes my third receiver.

Speaker 4 (20:47):
That's fine, all right, So I shouldn't happy I did
not pick the other guy because the guy that I
wanted is still on the board.

Speaker 2 (20:51):
Yeah, you can.

Speaker 4 (20:52):
You can have him Fangio.

Speaker 2 (20:53):
You know, I've never liked him, so I'm not taking them, all.

Speaker 4 (20:58):
Right, So stery, Scary Terry call. See that's what I
thought you're gonna do for Micah. Uh, Terry McLain Okay,
all right, So pause is wide receivers?

Speaker 2 (21:08):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (21:08):
Set up here? You have all but one of your
offensive linemen set up. I have a you already have
your set, so I don't have to force those same
thing with that position. Now, all right, so I need
to pick a second. You know, I'm gonna go Bobby Wagner.
I'm gonna go with the old man. He's gonna be
the leader of my defense. He's gonna be in the middle.
He's gonna call the plays, he's gonna make sure everyone's

(21:29):
lined up. You'll put him with Zach Bond, who's an
athletic guy playing behind Dexter Lawrence and Jalen Carter. You
try to put the ball up the middle against me,
Paul good.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
Look, he's gonna get old someday.

Speaker 4 (21:39):
Not not, not in this fantasy world, baby, Not in
this fantasy world. That's the commander.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
Let's see. Uh uh do I do that?

Speaker 3 (22:00):
Do that?

Speaker 2 (22:02):
Yeah, I'm gonna have to. I'll go Tyler Newban.

Speaker 4 (22:06):
Okay, he was, he was the next best. Say him
and Elie Cooker were the next year.

Speaker 2 (22:09):
I needed the safety, So I'll take him.

Speaker 4 (22:11):
Me put him, put him in your list here. Okay. Now,
let's see you have not drafted a defensive tackle yet.

Speaker 3 (22:22):
That's interesting.

Speaker 4 (22:23):
I know I grabbed the two guys early.

Speaker 2 (22:24):
Exactly what's the point. I totally get it. Let's see,
I know who I want, But there's two guys there
that are both correct. That doesn't matter very correct.

Speaker 4 (22:34):
All right, I'm gonna go I think the next best corner,
to be totally honest with you, of the guys in
this division, I'm gonna go Paulson a Debo can play outside.
I think he's healthier than these other guys. I think
he's done it in in the league for a long time.
I know he's coming off an injury, but he is
healthy now. But I think, uh, I think Paulson adebo

(22:55):
is A is a good place to go here for
one of my two starting quarterbacks. I'm gonna go paul
in the depot.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
Okay, uh oh, why not the uh the edge player,
the defensive end linebacker. I'll take Abdual Carter.

Speaker 4 (23:15):
You're gonna put him with a linebacker because you have
two edge players already.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
Right. Well, what I'm gonna do is, I got I
got Tibbs, who basically plays kind of stand up defensive
end for the Giants, and I'll put Carter at outside linebacker.
And I've got Parsons as as my other outside line.

Speaker 4 (23:30):
All right, I do Carter. Why not picking the rookie?
Why not Paul living on faith? I like it? All right,
I'm gonna go. Let's see, I'm gonna go with another
cornerback here, and I'll go with more of a veteran
and hope he stays healthy and has something left and
he was so bad in the last year. What do
you think of Marshaun Lottimore? Do you think he's got

(23:50):
anything left?

Speaker 2 (23:51):
I think I think he's a pretty good player. I mean,
whether or not that's I had him on my list
as a potential guy, I'm not gonna tell you not.
I did have him as a potential guy, but I
went with Mitchell and Diggs, and it was between Latimore
and Digs because Mitchell was the guy I wanted more
than anybody, right, and it was between Lottimore and Digs.

Speaker 4 (24:10):
All right, I'm gonna go. Then I'm gonna go another safety.
I'm gonna go Leak Cooker to be my second safety,
just because I think, you you know, after that there's
a fairly steep drop off. I'm at that position. So
I'm gonna go and Eleak Cooker as my second safety.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
Okay, that makes perfect sense because I think I think
the safeties in this league are not very good overall. Myself,
I agree with you. I'm with you him, I'm not.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
I'm not a big fan. So, uh, let's see here.

Speaker 2 (24:45):
Enough of this, I'm gonna go take Aubrey.

Speaker 4 (24:47):
Ah, I was gonna be my next pick. Good pick, Paul.

Speaker 2 (24:51):
I like that. Freaking dude's got a robotic leg.

Speaker 4 (24:54):
Now he's a monster. He's an absolute monster, all right.
So I'm I'm gonna take that same approach then and
as my kick return on the pic Cavanti turpin, because
I think he is by far the best one in
the in the division.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
Okay, that makes perfect sense. Oh, let's see here, So
I don't need to go there. I don't need to
go there. That's still left. How many of my fronts
seven do I have? I've got on defense?

Speaker 4 (25:25):
On defense, you have filled out Micah and Caevon and
abdual Carter. That's it.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
Micah, Cavon, abdual Carter. Also, Pain is still there on
the board, and so is uh Overshwan.

Speaker 4 (25:39):
Yeah he's hurt though. Yeah he's coming off a serious jury,
and so's Davis. He's not coming off a serious injury.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
No he's not.

Speaker 4 (25:47):
But he's there.

Speaker 2 (25:48):
That's what I'm saying. He's there.

Speaker 4 (25:49):
He wants some be's there. He's got beef.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
I'll take pain.

Speaker 4 (25:53):
That makes sense. Still on pain, command their player.

Speaker 3 (25:56):
Off the board. That's one two m.

Speaker 4 (26:00):
M all right. So now I'm gonna draft my head coach,
and man, he's annoying, but he just won a Super Bowl,
so I can't not pick him. I'm gonna go Nick
Sirianni and make him my head coach.

Speaker 3 (26:13):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
So, so we don't have many rounds left, do we.

Speaker 4 (26:22):
Now we're getting there. We're getting towards the end.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
Okay, so.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
M hm, let's see, Uh, I gotta you gotta have
two down linemen. You gotta have two down.

Speaker 4 (26:39):
Yeah, you have to have two defensive tackles.

Speaker 2 (26:40):
So I'm gonna take Davis.

Speaker 4 (26:42):
Jordan Davis.

Speaker 2 (26:43):
Yea, let's take Jordan Davis.

Speaker 4 (26:45):
Good player, he was, he was on my list. It
was either him or if you want a quicker guy,
you would pick with Diggy Zoo from Dallas. Yeah, though,
those those would have been the two guys.

Speaker 2 (26:53):
I gotta I gotta go with the beef.

Speaker 4 (26:55):
Good pick.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
All right.

Speaker 4 (26:57):
Now we're kind of just filling out here as we
go along. All right, I'm gonna stick with my coaching staff, Paul.
I'm gonna go with Cliff Kingsbury to be my offensive coordinator.

Speaker 3 (27:06):
Okay, okay, So one, two, three, four, eleven.

Speaker 4 (27:22):
I can tell you what you're missing, Paul. You are
missing right now. A quarterback, a tight end, a left guard,
a linebacker, a slot corner or another linebacker depending on
how you want to build your or and another safety.

Speaker 3 (27:35):
Okay, all right, so.

Speaker 2 (27:40):
I'll go. Uh, I'm gonna I'm gonna move. I'm gonna
move Tate Banks into the slot. You're gonna let me
do that.

Speaker 4 (27:48):
I mean, if you wanna, if you want to match
up against DeVante Smith with Tate Banks in the slot, you.

Speaker 2 (27:53):
Can well, only because he's the best corner still on
the board.

Speaker 4 (27:56):
I mean. Deron Bland is still there, still there, alright,
Marshaun Lattimore is still there. Cooper dejene is still Oh.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
I'm looking at some time I separated these in different categories.

Speaker 3 (28:08):
It's my fault.

Speaker 4 (28:08):
I'm sorry, though. You have a lot of slot guys.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
Thank you for letting me pull that. No, yes, no problem,
I will pull that back.

Speaker 4 (28:15):
Um, you know what.

Speaker 2 (28:19):
I'm gonna I'm gonna do it. I'll take a.

Speaker 4 (28:21):
Care ka all right. I think he's the next best linebacker.
He's the next best linebacker. I think that's a good pick.
All right, So Bobby o'carak, we'll go next to I
do a quarter for you at the linebacker position.

Speaker 2 (28:35):
All right.

Speaker 4 (28:36):
I'm gonna go back here now, and boy, no, not
my kicker is my last pick? Yeah, because I don't.
Nobody gets me excited there and no punter gets me excited.
All right, So I'm gonna I'm gonna go back to
corner now. And I was hoping you were gonna make
the decision easier for me by picking one of these
guys if you did not, unfortunately, so I am going
to select Deron Bland to be my slock corner from

(28:57):
the Dallas Cowboys with all those interceptions.

Speaker 2 (28:59):
Yeah, he certainly has a bunch of o's. Oh yeah,
you know you didn't. You didn't take Loatimore, right, you
were talking about I left the detective. See, I crossed
him out. That that was my problem. I crossed him
out before you can take him here. Yeah, yeah, I'll
do that. I'll take Latimore.

Speaker 4 (29:21):
You got my a Lotimore.

Speaker 3 (29:22):
That's fine.

Speaker 4 (29:22):
All right, So that's another commander Marsha and Lattimore off
the board. To Paulatinos, you only have one safety left
on your defense to fill that out.

Speaker 2 (29:29):
Pohol, Yes, yes, yes, that's correct.

Speaker 4 (29:31):
All right, I'm gonna make the tough decision. Both of
us were sitting here trying to make the other one
make the decision for us, and neither one of us
did so. And I realized I did not have him
as the top quarterback. Well this is this is in
my ranking. But I'm gonna go Jayden Daniels. I swear
back from the commanders to be my quarterback.

Speaker 2 (29:50):
You know, it's funny because the quarterbacks in this division.
I'm sorry, but I'm just not drop dead knock over
by these guys.

Speaker 4 (30:01):
Yeah, I mean you gotta. I gotta hate. Two guys
that went to the NFC title Game. Another one I
want to say, No, I understand, another one that was
second in MVP voting.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
I understand that. But when you compare some of the
other players at other positions where where there's huge gaps,
I'm sorry, I think these quarterbacks are more products of
their overall environment. Daniels was extremely lucky as a rookie,
I think he's going to take a step back. I
really do.

Speaker 4 (30:28):
I would have surprised if you took a little step back,
and that would have surprised me.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
I mean, as much as I hate to do this,
you know, I'm gonna have to take Hurts. I mean,
because he had a terrific season last year. But again,
he is the product of the environment.

Speaker 4 (30:40):
He has helped a lot by what's going on around
He's helped it awful a lot. I agree with that,
But you gotta give him credit, not everyone. And in
the biggest games that he.

Speaker 2 (30:49):
Has done, he has done well, yes, very well. And
so and this is remember this list is not about
who I like. This is about who you who you'd
have to pick in terms of talents. So I'm gonna
have to pick Herts. I may not want to, I
may not like him, but I'm picking him.

Speaker 4 (31:04):
All right.

Speaker 2 (31:06):
I think I checked that box.

Speaker 4 (31:07):
All right, So I'm gonna I'm thilling out my line now.
I'm gonna Enjoiner my lot as my left tackle.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
Okay, that's fine.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
Will you allow me to move your Maine Illuminato guard.

Speaker 4 (31:22):
Will I allow you to move your main Illuminoti guard.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
Sure, I'll let you let well, then he's gonna be
my other guard.

Speaker 4 (31:27):
Okay, over running Huh.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
I'm a big Illumini fan. Okay, So he's got some
position flax, I'd like to use it.

Speaker 4 (31:36):
Okay, that sounds good, all right. Uh center, I think
the second best center in the division, believe it or not,
even though he's a second year player. I'm gonna go
Cooper Bebe at center. You know I was a big
fan his coming out of the draft. So I'm gonna
go Cooper BB at center here.

Speaker 3 (31:51):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (31:53):
Uh, I'll take Anger the punter from Dallas.

Speaker 3 (32:03):
Yeah, okay, but that.

Speaker 4 (32:08):
Paul with both Dallas kickers.

Speaker 2 (32:10):
Yeah. See the other day when you said to me
about Dallas as specials, you're right, They've got the best
kicker punter combo in the league. Maybe kick returner and
kick returner is dynamite two. But their coverage units are
just so atrocious.

Speaker 4 (32:23):
I couldn't that bad.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
Last year they were atrocious on.

Speaker 4 (32:26):
Their fossil I don't remember that. To be honest with you,
I might have a bad memory. I do not tell
that strictly.

Speaker 2 (32:31):
It's you know, it's strictly the coverage units. Now, they
can do a lot of stuff to you, but their
coverage units are not We're not good, and so I
went with the balance. When I made my selection for
the points system the other day, I went for balance.

Speaker 4 (32:44):
All right, I'm going DeVante Smithier as my third wide receiver, right.

Speaker 2 (32:47):
I totally understand that I will take THEO Johnson at tight.

Speaker 4 (32:52):
End over Ferguson.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
I will.

Speaker 4 (32:55):
That's crazy.

Speaker 2 (32:56):
Here's why.

Speaker 4 (32:56):
No, that's crazy, Paul, No, here's why.

Speaker 3 (32:58):
Here's why.

Speaker 2 (32:59):
Here's why. Because I believe the Giants are gonna have
to throw the ball a lot more.

Speaker 4 (33:05):
But which guy do you think is a better player
right now?

Speaker 3 (33:07):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (33:07):
But this is also partly the situation that they're in,
isn't it. Like we talked about, it's projecting.

Speaker 4 (33:12):
I think you want to put these guys in a
neutral situation. Which players I.

Speaker 2 (33:15):
Told you yesterday on the show that I was thinking
if Johnson could reach the heights that they need him to,
if he can catch fifty balls and average thirteen yards
of catch. I don't think Ferguson will do that first.

Speaker 4 (33:26):
And I'm a huge first done that every year in
his career.

Speaker 2 (33:29):
I don't think he's gonna do that with Pickens. Now,
Pickens is going to take a lot of that share
away from him. I mean, unless you think they don't
want to throw the pickens. I think that's why they
try it.

Speaker 4 (33:38):
I would imagine they will throw the pickens an awful lot.

Speaker 2 (33:40):
Well, who do you think that's gonna come from. Who's
gonna lose those Who's gonna lose the ball?

Speaker 4 (33:43):
I mean they don't have a second wide receiver right now.
You're gonna have two wide receivers in a tight end
and do just fine.

Speaker 2 (33:49):
But between Lamb and Pickens, they're going to gobble up
a lot of those passes.

Speaker 4 (33:53):
We'll have the wait and say, so, you think Johnson's
gonna have a more productive year than Ferguson this year?

Speaker 2 (33:58):
And remember, coming out of Cool, I was a huge Ferguson.

Speaker 4 (34:01):
I know That's why I still have why I'm so surprised.

Speaker 2 (34:04):
I love Jake Ferguson, I really really do. But I
just think when you look at look at the wide
receivers the Giants have, and then look at the two
guys Dallas has, somebody's gonna get a bigger market share
fair enough.

Speaker 4 (34:17):
That's where I'm going, all right, I'm gonna fill out
my edge position, and you know what, a big fan.
I was if he's coming out of school, and I
think he's starting to come on now in the pros.
I'm gonna go. Nolan Smith from the Eagles is my
second edge.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
Okay. H So I got a safety to pick, and
then I got a coaching staff to go.

Speaker 4 (34:35):
Yes, okay, So my safety Donovan Wilson is the next
best guy. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (34:40):
See the Wilson of Blank and Ship and I just yeah,
I'm not you want a thumper pick Donovan Wilson. Yeah,
I'm I'm you know what, No, I'm gonna go with
the damn system guy. I'll go Blank and Ship. I
don't like him, but I'll take him. Uh and then
uh at leaves me with coaches.

Speaker 4 (34:57):
Yes, okay, go ahead, that's the Eagles with that all
your players, yeah, your players are all My players are done?
All right. I have not picked my special teams guys yet,
so I need to do that. All right. My last cornerback,
this is interesting. So this is gonna be my slot. No,
I already have this. I guess I can put Bland
outside right because he played outside from last year?

Speaker 2 (35:17):
Flex there.

Speaker 4 (35:19):
All right, Yeah, I'm gonna slide Bland outside and I'm
gonna draft. Do I like Sants for still better? Or
do I like Cooper Dejeane better? I think Cooper Dejean's
a little bit more versatile. Does he can't run back
play a little safety. So I'm gonna go Cooper degene
as a guy that that will be my third corner
as I add yet another Philadelphia Eagle to our tally here.

Speaker 2 (35:38):
Okay, all right, you're I'll take dan Quayinn Okay, great coach, Okay,
we put that in there.

Speaker 4 (35:49):
So now you don't have either corner yet either correrect? Okay,
Then I gotta pick my my kicker on my punter here.
I knew you need a kick returner too, from what
I'm looking at here, right, Oh, yes I do.

Speaker 2 (35:58):
I do need a kick return. You also need a
returner what I'm looking at here, But you have a
kick return. He doesn't matter what order I picked these guys.
That is? That is correct?

Speaker 4 (36:05):
Okay? All right, So I guess is Jake Elliott the
next best kicker in the division?

Speaker 2 (36:11):
Is that what you have? He was? He was a
ted and consistently No I know, but Gono's always hurt.
You can't take him. I'm just still do you like,
do you like Matt gaybetter?

Speaker 4 (36:22):
Do you like?

Speaker 2 (36:25):
To me, it's it's the older, more hurt guy, or
it's Elliott who seemed to be more intensistent. It's one
of those two.

Speaker 4 (36:31):
Guys, Jake Elliott from the Eagles. Don't love it. But
I wanted Aubrey, but you literally picked them a pick
before I was gonna select him. Okay, Okay, you're up next.

Speaker 2 (36:40):
Well again, if I'm gonna continue to preach how I
believe the giant special teams are, They're putting so much
focus into these special teams to try to make it
one of the best in the league, not just the division.
I'll take Smith Moore set.

Speaker 4 (36:52):
Okay, now, he was my next best return man too.
I have no problem with that pick, all right, And
I'm going to go to the punter. I like Trustway.
I think he's a I think he's a good punter.
So I'm gonna go trust Away a punter.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
Okay, uh Ibra Flues from my defensive coordinator.

Speaker 4 (37:13):
I think he's I think that's the guy. I'm with
you on that, all right. And then I need to
select my running back. And I think this is a
tough on Paul to be honest with you, because.

Speaker 2 (37:28):
Brian Robinson's good, but yeah.

Speaker 4 (37:30):
He's more of a banger. He's not a go catch
him out of the backfield. I want a guy that's
a little bit more versatile.

Speaker 3 (37:35):
And you know.

Speaker 4 (37:36):
That's the problem, not a I think there's much left.
So I'm gonna go Tyrone Tracy here. And I've been
on upside here with Tracy. I understand that. But I
think Tyrone Tracy he can catch them all to the backfield,
he can run between the tackles, he can do a
little bit of everything. I'm gonna go Tyrone Tracy is
my running.

Speaker 2 (37:53):
Back, all right? Uh so I have just the oc left.

Speaker 4 (37:59):
Right, Yeah, that's it. That's all I got. I got,
That's all I got, And you got two first timers
are Mike Kafka, that's right, and so to.

Speaker 2 (38:05):
Me, that's a no brainer. Mike Kafka was the oh
seat when the Giants went to the playoffs, so I'm
going back there.

Speaker 4 (38:10):
Okay. So I'll run through the teams very quickly. Do
you want to compare like each side of the ball
at a time, But I'm gonna give the whole team
doesn't matter, all right, Let's do offenses first, So my
offense is Jaden Daniels, Tyrone, Tracy Dallas, Goddard, who look
at these wide receivers, aj Brown, Ceedee Lamb, DeVante Smith

(38:30):
up front, Jordan Mylotta, Tyler Smith, Cooper Bebee, Landon Dickerson,
and Lane Johnson. So that's my offense. Compare that to
Paul's offense. He rolls out with Jalen Hurtz, Saquon Barkley,
Theo Johnson, Malik Neighbors, George Pickens, Terry McLaurin, Andrew Thomas,
Jermaine Luminor, Cam Jurgens, Sam cosmy Laromy Tunsel. I like

(38:56):
my offense a little bit better.

Speaker 2 (38:58):
What do you think? I I don't know. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (39:05):
Johnny Mack hold up one for Smell, called up too
for t Tino. What do you think? Schmelck love to
ask PIERCEA what he thinks. I'm gonna send this to
I'm gonna get his takes, Yeah for sure. All right, now,
let's go to the defensive side of the ball.

Speaker 2 (39:17):
I don't feel so bad about my offense. No, you're
office with you, but you got a.

Speaker 4 (39:20):
Good team defensive side of the ball, and this might
flop here I have Dexter Lawrence and Jalen Carter as
my tackles, Burns and Nolan Smith outside, Zach Bourne and
Bobby Wagner as my linebackers my secondary where I think
I'm a little week at corner, Paulson to Deebo, Deron
Bland and Cooper Dejan, Javon Holland and MALIEK. Hooker are
my safeties, Paul, You're rolling out Michaeh. Parsons and Keevon Thibodeau,

(39:41):
Deron Payne, Jordan Davis, Abdull Carter, and Bobby o'caraka your
defensive backs or Quinion Mitchell, Trayvon Diggs, Marshaun Lattimore, Tyler
Neuban and Reed Blanket Chip.

Speaker 2 (39:52):
I like your defense, Yeah I do? I do? I do?
I like my defense better? Yeah that that I'm not
afraid to go out and say I will. I will
like my defense.

Speaker 4 (40:00):
So Paul says, Dexter Lawrence overrated his defenses.

Speaker 2 (40:03):
Oh please please?

Speaker 4 (40:06):
Would Brian Byrne you not good enough?

Speaker 2 (40:09):
You went and you had then scapped up Dexter before
I could get them.

Speaker 4 (40:12):
Javon Holland Paul is dismissing him. Paul's in a demo
not good. Paul's going with his defense.

Speaker 2 (40:18):
My problem is I took too many giants on our offense.
That's my problem. I should have known.

Speaker 4 (40:22):
Better kicking game. I think Paul's the advantage here. I
have Jake Elliot, tresswayan Cavante Turpin. He has Aubrey Anger
and a Mere Smith Moore set. And then with the coaches,
I have Sirianni, Kingsbury and Fangio, and Paul has dan Quinn,
Kafka and eber Flus. I like my advantage there, So yeah,
I agree with that. More interesting. And I tried to

(40:43):
do these as we went. If I missed one or two,
I apologize, but I think we're gonna have a decent
ballpark anyway. So, of all the players we selected, we
have nineteen Philadelphia Eagles, fifteen New York Giants, twelve Dallas
Cowboy and ten Washington Commanders.

Speaker 2 (41:04):
Ten Commanders. Well, it took long enough for me to
finally break the seal on Washington.

Speaker 4 (41:09):
You did well, we got the ten, you know. And
doesn't this go back to what we all thought.

Speaker 2 (41:16):
About the Commanders going into last season, that they would
be possibly the fourth team in the division. Possibly Oh
certainly not battling for one or two. We all thought that,
and then what happened. They turned out to have a
spectacular season. Daniels came out of the box and he
was just firing away and everything really went well for them,
and they were probably the biggest overachiever in the league

(41:38):
last year. I'll say this, and I think that's we're
kind of reflecting that right now. I think you're seeing
the importance of the quarterback position, right He played very well.
This was reflected how the Giants came out in our
position group ratings as well, where the Giants fared pretty
well in those ratings for all of us, much better

(41:59):
than they ever have four when we've done those yeanks,
not just in Paul's and mine as well. So can
the Giants get good enough play out of the quarterback
position to take advantage of the rest of the players
on the roster to make that group good enough? I
think that's the question that remains to be seen.

Speaker 4 (42:21):
That's what I think. If you look at you know,
what people predicting and things of that nature, it's because
of the quarterback positions. Though teams are higher than the
Giants are on people's prediction boards, right, can the Giants
get enough out of that quarterback position to take advantage
of the rest of the talent. And you know, I
didn't separate it by offense or defense. They probably should have.
But you had both Giant safeties. You had Paulson Adebo,

(42:45):
you had Bobby Okarake, you had Dexter Lawrence, and you
had three giants that play the edge. All picked on defense.
It's eight guys, It's eight out of twenty two guys.
That's more than a third of the defensive players or
giants number. It's about forty percent right there. That is
a good It's a little less about thirty eight percent.
That's a good number. So I think you like that. Offensively,

(43:09):
On the other hand, you only a one wide receiver
out of the six be a Giant. You did have
one of the two running backs, but I think that
was kind of a toss up as to who the
second guy was going to be there. You only have
two offensive linemen out of the ten that ended up
being Giants. One of the tight ends. But again, I
think that was a toss up right between him and Ferguson.

(43:30):
You see, there's just much more of a presence on
the on the defensive side of the ball than on
the side of the ball. And I think that talks.

Speaker 2 (43:38):
That speaks to where the Giants are as a team
right now. Yeah, I mean, look, this is why when
Joe Shane went into the off season, and you know,
we all heard about how hard they went after Matt Stafford.
We all heard about it. At Stafford's a Pro Bowl
level quarterback. Yeah, we talked about its crazy at the combine, okay,

(43:59):
And it looked like they were in position to get him,
and then he decided to stay and the Rams resigned
him and gave him the extension and the rais and
everything else. Okay, fine, pivot, go get somebody else. And
they went after and got Russell Wilson. Now, Russell Wilson
is thirty six plus years old. The way he's throwing
the ball right now, I do feel like he has

(44:22):
enough to raise this boat above sea level.

Speaker 4 (44:25):
I really do.

Speaker 2 (44:27):
We're gonna have to see, They're gonna have to protect
him because I don't know how many more shots, folks.
The one thing I will say about Wilson, yes, he's
really really cut, he's thick, he looks like a running back.
He's an outstanding shape and condition. That's quite clear. And
he can still throw the ball. That's clear too.

Speaker 4 (44:48):
So what do we know?

Speaker 2 (44:49):
We know he's a little bit slower as he roams
around and runs out of the pocket. That we know,
and we also know that he has taken a ton
of hits and sacks over his career in the n
Football League. I do not want to see this offensive
line get him hit too often this year. They've got
to play better because how much more is he going

(45:14):
to be able to take before he does break down
at some point? At some point, the beatings that he's
taken are going to collectively force him out of a lineup.
It's gonna happen, John, I just don't know when.

Speaker 4 (45:28):
If the offensive line plays as well as they did
the first six games of the years, is that enough? Yeah?
I think it is.

Speaker 2 (45:34):
If they could play at that level for at least
two months out of the season, hopefully three. I don't
know if I can get it out of them for
the whole season. I don't know. That may be too
much to ask, But can you get me two or
three months of that level of play, then Russell Wilson's
good enough to make the Giants very competitive I believe that. See,
I think you and I actually agree on most of

(45:56):
what we think with this giant step chart. My biggest
difference when you would be me and you, I think
is that I am incredibly high on special teams. I'm buying,
I'm buying the game plan, and you're, well, you want
to wait and see, right, you want to wait and see.
And I think that's fair because Smith Marsett.

Speaker 4 (46:15):
Well, look, you know, Paul, we've talked about this. We
put for special teams play. I put a lot, and
I mean a lot into the importance of the field
goal kicker, right. I just think that is the most
important start of special teams. It put points on the board.
I think it's critical in close games that have a
really good field goal kicker. And absolutely love Graham Gono.
He's phenomenal. But wait, last two years he has not

(46:37):
been able to stay healthy.

Speaker 2 (46:39):
And I totally understand that. Yes, you you your questions
are Gano's got to be healthy. And I think your
other question is MS. Smith Marsett has a small sample size.

Speaker 4 (46:48):
Right, he does. But I'm not sure I feel relatively
good about Smith mors Okay, I don't. I'm not that
concerned about Okay, So I feel real good about him.
I feel real good about the resources and their belief
in the CITs. I think that's very, very important. And
I do believe that you know, the kicking game's gonna
be okay. I think you know it's gonna bounce back.

Speaker 2 (47:08):
Now. That may be fools gold because two years have
always been hurt and he's been in this league watch
seventeen years. That may be fools gold. I know this,
when he does kick, he's as bad as good as
anybody in the conference.

Speaker 4 (47:20):
He's super consistent.

Speaker 2 (47:21):
Okay, So I'm putting a little more faith into the
specials right now. You are a little bit more wait
and see, And you have a right to be. You
absolutely have right.

Speaker 4 (47:29):
And I'm frankly Paul and I know we we're not
gonna get into this philosophical debatey as we've done it
before and fans have heard it. They probably tired of it.
I just don't put as much stock in that as
you do, right necessarily, And that's.

Speaker 2 (47:41):
Fair too, right, That's okay, that's a matter of preference. Then.
I think the other area where you and I probably
disagree some is I'm much higher on the potential of
the tight end rule. I just think we're gonna see
a lot more production out of those guys, whether it's
THEO Bellinger if it turns out then it's Dulcet, You're
for DONI or whoever it is. I think the giants

(48:04):
tight end room I'm expecting. In fact, I think it's
it's almost imperative out of them that they get significant
production out of the tight end room. And I think
you're probably a more even keel on the tight ends
than I am.

Speaker 4 (48:16):
Yeah, I mean, we just haven't seen guys do it yet,
to be honest, And that's again the.

Speaker 2 (48:20):
Wait and see is perfectly normal. In fact, it makes
a lot of sense. I won't dispute that at all.
But those two of the those two factors I think
is where you and I are probably biggest in terms
of our cavern. Now.

Speaker 4 (48:34):
I have said the tight end group to me, might
be the most interesting position group on the roster. Like,
there are a lot of pieces there that fascinate me
that I think have a lot of talent and I
think can turn into something. But you're in but I'm
I'm in the show me phase.

Speaker 2 (48:49):
That's correct, and that's fair. That's absolutely fair. I'm being
a little ahead of the horse here, putting the carriage
a little bit out of the horse, and I'm putting
a lot of faith in the specials and the tight ends.
You're in show me phase on both. Otherwise, I think
we're pretty much exactly on the same page on every
other unit. Yeah, I think that's fair. I think that's

(49:10):
fair overall.

Speaker 4 (49:11):
When when when you talk about the group, Look, the
defense has the talent to be a very good unit
if they can figure if that second cornerback spot, you know,
works itself out, and they figure that out, and the
second defensive tackle spot figures itself out, and I think
that you know, Ray Robinson Harris will be a good
enough player where you know you're gonna be okay there

(49:33):
given everything else that's that that's going on on the
on the defensive line, I think you first of all
need the defense to be really good most important, no doubt.
But I think they have the talent to be very good.
They're just as I talked about it. Defense is a
weak link based position. And again, if that second quarterback

(49:55):
spot works itself out, I don't see a ton of
weak links for teams to go after on this defense
like there's no heading into this game. I love this matchup.
I'm going to attack this matchup again and again. I
think you feel okay about a lot of the matchups
that you're gonna have against other teams in the division.

Speaker 2 (50:09):
Right, no question about it. In general, that is true
for the defense, But on offense, it's no more imperative
than it is on the offensive line, because if you've
got that weak link on the offensive line, defensive coordinators
will make sure they abuse that spot and they will
short circuit whatever it is you're trying to do by

(50:31):
coming after that spot. They want that Achilles heel and
they can do a lot of damage to you by
attacking that spot. So the problem becomes for the Giants
can across the board on the offensive line, can they
avoid an achilles heel situation? That, in all honesty to me,

(50:52):
that is the biggest of all the issues that the
Giants are facing right now, because that achilles heel could
pop up anywhere along that offensive line. We talked about
Andrew Thomas, great, great player, but because of the injuries,
he could potentially wind up being an achilles heel.

Speaker 4 (51:10):
We don't know that.

Speaker 2 (51:12):
We just don't know John. So you know, hey, that's
what the off season is all about, right The off
season is about projecting, trying to rationalize, trying to logically
figure out where the upside is, what can you realistically
expect from each of the spots. The one good thing
is we sit here today compared to the last the

(51:35):
bulk of the last several off seasons, we can at
least sit here today and say the talent level on
this team, from top to bottom, is higher than most
any team the Giants have had in the past decade.
I think we can both say that with confidence.

Speaker 4 (51:50):
Ah decade, I think strong. I think the twenty sixteen
team was pretty talented. I think that was and that's
within ten years. So I wouldn't put this team on
the level of that team. I don't think thing necessarily.
You know they still you know, still rolled up Beckham
junior on that team. No, yeah, well Vernon and Jenkins
and Snacks like you would. That was still a pretty
loaded team.

Speaker 2 (52:09):
You know what, though there were there was some suspects
on defense, sure club, and I think this defense is
better than that one. So I would say, perhaps if
you want to say on parlet's let's just say this
the two playoff teams twenty two and sixteen in the
last decade, those are the only two teams that were
above sea level. So so, at worst, at worst, this

(52:34):
is a top three team from the last decade. At worst, yeah,
So I mean, anyway, that's where it's at, folks. This
was this was a very interesting I hope you guys
had fun listening to this because it was. It was
certainly interesting, and it was a little bit offbeat, and
maybe we gave you some food for thought, maybe some
water cooler conversation about your respective offices.

Speaker 4 (52:57):
All right, so I redid my accounting. What do you
got I missed as we did that conversation. I only
messed up one number, and it was the Eagles actually,
so they were nineteen. They were at seventeen, Okay, the
Giants were at sixteen, So that's thirty three totals. Wow,
And then twelve for the Cowboys. That puts it at
forty five, right, and then eleven for Washington that puts

(53:17):
us a fifty six. And each of us did draft
twenty eight players. Twenty eight times two is fifty six. Yeah,
that's how I know my math is right. So it
was seventeen Eagles, sixteen Giants, twelve Cowboys, eleven commanders. That's
where we wound up on this list. How about that
the Giants, Just so people want to know where the
Giants wound up, Tyrone Tracy at running back, Burns at edge,

(53:41):
Dexter a tackle, a de bow a corner, Holland at safety.
Then the league neighbors and wide receiver, Theo Johnson at
tight end, Illuminor and Thomas on the offensive line, Thibodeau
at the edge, Carter and o'caraka a linebacker, Nubian at safety,
a Mere Smith mar said as a return man in
Kafka as the offensive coordinator, I'll go through. We got
a few minutes, so the Cowboys, you would both specialist

(54:04):
Aubrey and anger Matt Eberflus DC. That was the only
coach of the Cowboys staff that was as one of
the six. Trayvon Diggs corner, Michaeh Parson's edge at Deron
Bland corner, George Pickens wide receiver, Cavante Terpin kick returner,
Malie Hooker safety, and then Tyler Smith and Cooper bb
on the offensive line. Which shows, by the way, only
two Cowboys. It shows how far that Cowboy offensive line

(54:26):
is fallen, then only two Cowboys are on the offensive
line group, and then Ceede Lamban wide receiver, which again
no no, and George Pickens I mentioned that, So you're
two two of those guys in there. For the Commanders,
you would Jayden Daniels on offense along with Terry McLaurin,
and then three commander offensive linemen to the Paul Detino's
over here with Cam Jurbins, Sam Cosmy, Laramie Tunsel. Cliff

(54:50):
Kingsburg is the offensive coordinator.

Speaker 2 (54:53):
Jurgens is Philly.

Speaker 4 (54:54):
Oh so I didn't so you know what I must
have just that wasn't a mistake. I know Jurgens does
not play for Commanders.

Speaker 2 (54:59):
That must have just been a.

Speaker 4 (55:00):
Slip of the finger there. So you put the Commanders
in a ten See, I'm happy, I'm going I'm glad.
You know what my initial my initial numbers were actually
right on the money. So the Eagles were at nineteen
fifteen for the Giants, twelve for Dallas, ten to for Washington.
So McLaurin and wide receiver and then Cosme and Tunzel

(55:21):
at on the offensive line for the Commanders, and then
on defense you would Deron Payne, Bobby Wagner middle linebacker
for me, Marshaun Lattimore, Cornered, Dan Quinn a head coach,
and then for the Philadelphia Eagles, this is gonna be longlist. Guys,
bear with me, uh Jyalen Hurts on offense along with A. J. Brown,

(55:41):
DeVante Smith, Dallas Goddard, Jordan Malatta, Landon Dickerson Lane, Johnson Church.
Oh my goodness, it's almost to have the offensive line
butter Eagles ridiculous A four to the ten. The other
teams each had two with the Eagles had four. That's
kind of how that's gonna go.

Speaker 2 (55:59):
Right.

Speaker 4 (56:00):
On defense, you have Nolan Smith, Jalen Carter, Zach Bonn,
Cooper Dejeen, Jordan Davis, Quineon, Mitchell Read Blanken Chips. So
how many Eagles made the defenses?

Speaker 2 (56:09):
Three, four, five, six, seven Eagles of the twenty two
on defense?

Speaker 3 (56:14):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (56:15):
And then you had their place kicker Jake Elliott. You
had their head coach Nick Sirianni, their defensive coordinator Rick
Fangio and those are your Eagles.

Speaker 3 (56:25):
On the list.

Speaker 2 (56:25):
So you know, folks, on Eagles are really good.

Speaker 4 (56:30):
I mean, what can you say? The Eagles are really
really good.

Speaker 2 (56:33):
You know what's funny, I mentioned this the other day.
I don't know if it was with Lancer with Matt
and you'll second this notion. I'm sure last off season
there was a lot of talk about Sirianni maybe being
at odds with Hertz. Yeah, coaching staff was gonna have
to shuffle again because of some of the guys leaving.

(56:54):
And you know, some of those guys on defense looked
like they were getting old and maybe they hadn't retooled
it really as well.

Speaker 4 (57:00):
And by the way, I don't think that the guys
on defense getting old was wrong. The thing is that
a lot of the young guys they brought in, they
stepped up.

Speaker 2 (57:07):
They stepped up in the field.

Speaker 4 (57:08):
Quarter became a star, Nolan Smith became close to a star.
He got the two corners on Mitchell and Cooper de
Gene exactly read blanket Ship took another step. The linebackers,
Zach Bawd came out of nowhere. So I mean they
that's why bringing in young talents so important.

Speaker 2 (57:24):
Every stinking domino fell right for them, because that should
have been a team that we thought their window of
opportunity was closing, and instead they just opened up a
whole new window. They blew a hole in the wall
and built a new window.

Speaker 4 (57:38):
You got a draft. Well, guys, there's a reason. It's
by design, the reason. We spend three or four months
every year locked in on the draft here, and we
literally only do it from January through April, four months
every year. A third of our year, third of our programming.
I dedicate to the draft. It's the most important thing
NFL teams do every year. Of course, if you don't draft, well,

(57:59):
you're not gonna sustain success. You cannot do it any
other way. Cannot do it any other way. It's a requirement.
And the Eagles had been darned good at Unfortunately for.

Speaker 2 (58:10):
The Giants, Yeah, they're in the division and their window
was open again, and it's gonna be awfully tough for
somebody to dethrone them.

Speaker 4 (58:18):
So maybe tomorrow it's gonna be you and Lance tomorrow,
and then it's you a Matt on Thursday. Maybe on
Friday with you and Sidetech, you could have Sidetach and
Pearson breakdown the two teams.

Speaker 2 (58:29):
And have them give their analysis.

Speaker 4 (58:30):
