Gians defeat the Chargers. He to eighteed, ou't know We're
gonna get plenty of calls today. I'm just having fun
with you guys.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Of course, a big win for the Giants fault And yeah,
should I start where people want me to start or
should I start where I want to start after rewatching
the game? No, I did it too. Let's start with Dart.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
You have to.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
That's what everybody wants to know about. Okay, let's start
with him. Nice game by Jackson Dart.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
I am gonna term Jackson Dart and I kind of
said this on the postgame last night, and I let
the idea ferment a little bit overnight, and I think
it's really on the money. Jackson was a playmaker yesterday.
He did what he had to do. He made some
loose plays, he ran with the football, he scrambled, he
had some design runs, made some nice plays. He was
(01:42):
a playmaker that made plays when he had to and
a lot of that was running on third downs to
convert some of those third downs in this game. He
played a nice game and a lot of the stuff
we talked about pregame, where you know, the way the
Chargers played their zones and rotate their coverages, he might
have some trouble finding guys down the field, and you
know what that happened too, and that's okay, that's supposed
to happen for rookie quarterbash. But he made the type
(02:04):
of plays. And again this is not a shot at
the player that because ten years ago he was the
guy making these types of plays that Russell Wilson used
to be able to make when he was a younger guy,
in terms of scrambling around, running around, running for extra yards,
avoiding the rush, making a throw on the move, stepping
up the pocket and making an accurate throw. And he
made enough of those playmaker type of plays for the
(02:26):
offensive score enough points and to add the winning the
ball game.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
I'll put another layer onto that, please, and I will
say the fact is he didn't make any stupid or negative.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
That's a great point, Paul, great point.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
And you know, often you'll hear people talk about a
high ceiling, and then other people will say, well they
have a high floor. Yesterday, Jackson Dart had a high floor.
He didn't do anything that put the Giants in a swamp. Well,
he did take five sacks, okay, but better than throwing picks.
(03:02):
Sacks aren't good, no, but yes, of course sacks did
not turn it over right.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
And that snap he fell on, which was good yeah,
well Andrew Thomas.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Thomas fell on that one and Wilson fell on the
one that got knocked out.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Of his ya. Again, I don't know if that was it.
You can't see on the tape. If it was A's
fault or Dart's fault, see, whatever the case might be.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
You cannot see on the snake.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
But Paul makes a great point. They did not turn
the ball over in the game, which was.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Huge and plus two right Tom Coughlin's magic number plus
two plus t you win late eighty percent of That's it,
and so to me, I agree with you, John Jackson.
Dart made some very important key plays in different facets
of his skill set yep. Which is the one thing
that you want to be really hopeful about because you
(03:45):
can't say the guy can do it until he does it. Well,
John Dot did it.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
Well. Here's the thing that's good. The art of playing quarterback.
Stuff is stuff that a rookie is going to struggle
with every largely every rookie is going to struggle with that,
especially earlier in their career. The first few game. Sure,
until you see more stuff, the game starts to slow
down a little bit and you can start reading out
down the field, reading safeties, figuring out coverages, that sort
of stuff. But he has that athleticism and creativity, and
(04:15):
again I'll go back to the word playmaking skills that
if and when he does figure out the art of
playing quarterback stuff, that other stuff is what's gonna raise
the ceiling. Yeah, you know what I mean. So that
gets you excited. If you're a Giants fan, you hope
he as he keeps working and does more of the stuff,
he's gonna figure out some of the other stuff where
(04:36):
he's you know, Bob said this during the game five
or six weeks from now, of those five stacks that
he's took, he's probably not gonna take two or three
of them. Like there were a couple of those plays,
Paul where they did the typical play action zone left,
rolls to his right, they leave the defensive end unblocked.
He comes up and two of those plays, the guy
in the flat I think goes Wando Robinson on one
(04:58):
of them and maybe.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
Scatter on the other one when when Dart got tripped,
they let the defensive endcome in clean because Robinson floats down.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
There were two plays like that, and the guy in
the flat was wide open and old Dart has to
do and throw it down, but he's trying to look
down the field and make a bigger play, holds the
ball a little bit, takes a sack. Those are the
type of plays where in a few weeks, as he
plays more, those are going to disappear. He's gonna figure
that stuff out. So you like the fact that he
has that off schedule playmaking ability that gets you excited.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
I charged two we Pulo to two of his sacks.
I charged to Dart the rest of them. I had
one and a half team sacks. I had Lumino with
the sack in half, I had Van Roten with two
half sacks, which combined mathematics.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
You aren't blaming a lumin or on the unblocked one,
are you? I gave Illuminare.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
It beat? O gay Beat? What is his name?
Speaker 1 (05:56):
I believe it's I looked it up. Hold on, there
you go ahead of yesterday. Pass me the flip card
pier since you're wait, wait, wait wait, passed me the
flip card straight ahead against the screen. Yeah, plast me
the flip card place. I think it's o boya it is.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Sorry, there was a stunt on that okay, there was
a stunt.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
Oh no, on that play, yes, I thought, and a
bull rush that I thought was on Allumino. I was
talking about the play where Dart got absolutely obliterated on
in the first half when he did not see the
pressure coming correct and Aluminoor had the block two guys
and he blocked the inside guy. I hope you can
put that one on because that's not his fault.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
I gave Illuminare, uh that was. I gave him a
half because that was the split the guy split Illuminor
in Van Roten.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
No, No, not that I'm talking. I'm talking to play
where there was an unblocked rusher off the right side
because a Lumino had two guys rushing in front of
him and he got the inside.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
I called that a team sack.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
That should be a team sack. I agree with you.
I think that's correct. I'm with you on that. I
just wanted to make sure you weren't.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
No.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
I gave Illuminor a sack and a half the gentleman
that we can't pronounce, and then the other one it's
not that okay, okay, on a stunt with a bull rush,
and then.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
The other fellow too. Upolo.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
I'm sorry, it's toully well. He split, He's split Van
Roten and Illuminare. I had to give each of them
half a shack and I and I think that I
think that was fair. And look, we said before the game,
and I said this last week a million times too,
we're talking about this game. You cannot count on Jackson
(07:41):
Dart to be the savior in this game. And the
Giants did a great job supporting their rookie quarterback.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
It was only about three yards per carry, but they
ran for the and this is taking darts rushing yards
out of it. The running backs ran for one hundred
and seven yards on thirty two carries, so that's it's
only a little bit over three yards per cab That's okay,
that's all right. You were in reasonable down in distances.
There were not a lot of third and super longs
in this game, because that's when Dart's gonna have trouble.
(08:08):
And Scattaboo did a good job and rewatching the game.
Scattaboo has some it's not even necessarily paul the players
where he has these open field broke broken tackles. He
does all that stuff. He's constantly falling forward thirty yards
on a two yard run, he gets four yards on
a three yard run. He gets four and a half
yards every He just falls forward all the time and
(08:30):
doesn't mean a lot on that one individual play, but
it adds up over the course it does. So that
kind of jumped out to me. And I want to
give credit to the offensive line too. They did a
nice job. You mentioned whether there are a few sacks here
and there. Shore I thought Runyon probably played his best
game of the season. Yes, until the last drive when
JMS had a guy lined up right over him. I
thought he actually did really well on the run game
(08:52):
until that final drive. Andrew Thomas was flawless. He played
every snap. We weren't sure if he'd be able to
do that this week. He did.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
He was great.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
And I thought the offensive line played easily their best
game of the year. And it wasn't close. Well, it
wasn't perfect, but he wasn't even close, but not being
their best.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
Right, Let's put it this way, and to hammer home
your point, and this does not count for rushing plays.
And remember two thirds of the Giant snaps were rushing
plays in this game. Two thirds.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
And what a dart through twenty one passes.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Twenty one passes he threw. Now there were some dropbacks
where we had to scramble some, but twenty one attempts,
forty two rushes, folks. Game flow, The Giants had the
lead from start to finish.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
And had a ten point lead early in this game.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
John, it changed everything in terms of game flow.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
Oh, tho was a great stat The Giants changed it all.
The Giants led I think for forty three minutes of
the game. It's more than they led in the first
three games combined.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
See, I know people like to give that kind of
lip service. Oh, you know, you don't want to play
from behind, you want to get off.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
To all matters. It does, it does.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
Looking at this game on Friday, right when Matt was here,
we were talking about the game breakdown. It was clear
the Giants were going to have to run the ball
to create balance, keep the defense on us, keep them offstride.
But the other thing that we're going to have to
do when we did this on the pre game, we
talked about quick game. We talked about don't make Dart
have to decipher the Chargers' coverages. Get the ball out
(10:26):
of his hands to the playmakers.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
Let them do the dirty is funny. They didn't do
a ton of that. It was mostly with the run game.
But yry correct.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
But they didn't have to. They were able to avoid
the quick game because they got functional running correct.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
I mean they won two negative runs of the whole game.
I think exactly. No, it was helpful. Okay, So that's
the anything else on you on the offense, I think
we had everything right. No.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
The only other thing that I do want to add
we did talk about this also in the pre game.
Jackson Dart does need to slide feet first. He did
it again yesterday. Dable keeps telling him Kiffin told him
at Old Miss. You heard it from Kiffin himself. I
heard it from the Old Miss people. I don't mind
(11:09):
that he's got to do some of this scrambling. It
bothers me a little. I get nervous, I get upset,
But you know what, he's gonna make me feel a
lot better if he goes feed first.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
Let me just add something to that, because A, you're
right be and if you're not gonna slide, can you
not try to punch or slap or violently stiff arm
however you want to turn the play you're throwing hand
into the helmet of an opponent defensive back. Please can
we not do that? I know it's exciting, it gets
(11:42):
everyone pumped up. What if you missed the helmet and
your finger get stuck in the face mask and you
dislocate your finger, break your finger. Your quarterback, it's your
right hand. Let's use our noodle a little bit here,
will you please? I'll leave it at that.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
He wants to run like a running back here, only square.
He thinks he's scatabu.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
And by the way, he looked like scattabul on that
one thirty, which again off size on the play. Even
have to end up doing that, but I like three
tackles on the play. Look, it's great. The athleticism is awesome.
But let's let's stay healthy. He already has a hamstring now,
so let's let's let let's keep him healthy a little
bit here. Okay, all right, that's the offense, and this
(12:23):
is what I wanted to lead with, so I'll lead
with this instead. Yes, the defense won this game. Yep,
they were phenomenal. He stepped up, and not only because
they only allowed the Chargers to score eighteen points. You
can take ten of those points that the Giants scored
and hand them to the defense. The Giants defense gave
the Giants the ball and the Chargers three yard line
twice in this game. All right, The Giants probably would
(12:45):
have scored a touchdown on the first one. I wasn't
with a false start by Van Roten on first and
goal with the three, which backed him up to the eight.
You still got to score anyways to score, correct, but
which is not always easy, especially not for this Giants team.
But the defense handed the Giants ten points on a
silver platter. Two takeaways first time all year. There were
positive and the plus minus territory plus two to your point,
(13:06):
and two positives where you put the ball inside the
other team's five yard line. So give him credit for that.
And I talked about Paul, and we talked about this
after the Cowboys game, how we didn't think in situations
where the Cowboys had to pass the ball, the Giants
pass rush was fine, but it did not take over
the game. Giants pass rush took over this game in
passing situations in this game, even on the drive where
(13:28):
Herbert ended up at the end of the first half,
hitting Johnson on the deep pass and we'll talk about
that too. They were pressuring him like crazy on that drive.
He just happened to complete that one. And then on
the final drive of the game. Giants who ran a
ton of twist and stunts in this game a ton.
Jamari Salier was so concerned with Dexter Lawrence, which, by
the way, can't blame you Burns. They run a te
(13:50):
twist which is Dextor Lawrence going inside Burns swooping around
him on the right side of the offensive line, left
side of the defensive line. Jamali Salier is so worried
about blocking Dexter Lawrence he doesn't see Burns looping around,
gets a free run to the quarterback. And and Bob
Pov made this good point to me, Burns doesn't miss
those types of sacks. Ryan Burns gets around a quarterback
does he does not miss them. So that pretty much
(14:12):
ended the game. That the Chargers had another possession, but
it was clutch.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
It was there's clutch of a sack as you can
have and and and this is why sacks is a
misleading stat The Giants had two sacks in this game.
Twenty pressures.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
They were all over justin Herbert twelve quarterback kits. And
there were multiple plays, and I'll want to talk about
two plays here in the fourth quarter, and one is
that Burns play. Already mentioned it briefly when you guys
show and I'm not sure if they showed this on
the All twenty two show this on the TV copy,
but if you see it on the All twenty two
you'll see it. Lad McConkie's running a crossing pattern on
(14:47):
that play and is not an illegal pick. He just
happened to run into Deontay Banks on the play. Quinton
Johnston is when I say wide open, yeah, I mean no,
within twenty yards of him. It's running a deep override
across the field. Herbert knows he's there. That's why Herbert
slammed the ball on that play. No doubt he knew
(15:08):
he was open. And if he would have, if he
could have scrambled and brought himself another second and a half,
that ball's coming out and it's if not a touchdown,
it's going inside the ten yard line. Is Jamon Hollins
in a bad trail position as the deep safety on
the opposite side of thee So that saved that play
from being a potential touchdown. The pass rush and then
(15:28):
I think it was the previous possession also in the
fourth quarter. And I'll give the Giants passers credit for this.
Maybe I'm being a little bit generous.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
Well, before you go there, I can I just mention
one thing.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
Absolutely, go ahead.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
Burns had the quarterback pressure on the interception that was
picked off by Drew Phillips.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
That's true, he did so. Now Giants fortunate that loud
Manconkie falls down on that understood, But yes, yes, correct,
there was Burns impacting the play as one hundred percent correct.
You're right. And the other play I want to talk about,
there was a deep post. It was actually very similar
to the deep post that Justin Herbert connected on when
the Giants played at the Chargers four years ago, where
(16:09):
Herbert has to roll a little bit to his right
because of pressure and I'm trying to find them. I'm
trying to find I can't find the play on my
sheet here. But it was a deep post over the
middle to Quentin Johnston and he won on the route.
He beats Paulson a debo and Javon Hollin takes a
(16:31):
bad angle on the play. You know, maybe that wasn't
his responsibility. I don't know, but Johnson's running on a
deep post across the middle of the field and Herbert
overthrows him by a little bit. But before he overthrows him,
pass pressure on that play forced him to roll a
little bit to his right. So maybe if that pass
rush doesn't force him off his spot in the middle
of the pocket, that could be completed for a deep pass.
(16:53):
So again, I will tip my cap a little bit
to the Giants defensive front on that play because that
probably saved another touchdown. It was late pressure by fouls
on that play. It was a second and ten. Deontay
Banks also got called for a defensive holding penalty on
that play. Okay, and Fowls okara, kay, and Carter was
(17:14):
kind of in the mix to forced Herbert to roll
a little bit to his right. It's at the four
to thirty five mark in the fourth quarter. Pints, oh, okay,
I was looking at the four thirty five in the
fourth quarter. Three okay, and Herbert has Johnston on a
deep post and he just overthrows him a little bit,
but again he had to move off his spot because
of the pass rush, and John's very fortunate again that
they were able to do that, but that's why you
have a pass rush, to make sure the quarterback can't
(17:35):
just sit down, sit back there and survey the field. Now,
to be fair to the Chargers, right, we knew all
year that Slater was not going to be available at
left tackle, so they move all over to left tackle,
and then all kids hurt hurts his ankle early in
the game, so now the Chargers are forced to kind
of do a makeshift situation on the flone, and they're
(17:56):
also missing McKai beck and they're starting right Kai.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
Beck then goes into the game, but he cancussion he
can't play, so to be fair, and Bradley Boseman was
questionable and banged up with the back, so they were
a mess on the line. The Giants stepped up. The
defense played up to its football card yesterday, I would
agree with that. This is kind of what I wanted
to see from them from the get go, but it
took them a few weeks. We knew it would. But
(18:20):
to be fair, this was not the Chargers at full strength.
This was the Chargers C game. Pops.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
Before you can start, and I've said this before, before
you can start dominating good opponents, you gotta dominate the bad.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
Opponents or the ones that are gimbi.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
How many times have the Giants gone against opponents where
we point out an explicit weakness heading into the game
and they're unable to take advantage of it.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
I won't disagree.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
It happens all the time. So your caveats are absolutely correct.
Don't disagree with them at all. But it's a good
first step on a line that they should have had
a lot of question against. They had a lot of
success against them.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
And by the way, Abdul Carter nine pressures, five quarterback hits.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
Whoa ageah. They use them a lot of twist and stunts,
and they he had that one win outside where he
just went right around the backup left tackle. Unbelievable speed
and dip move.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
That's what we saw at training care That's the end,
like every day.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
At at Penn State for them. Yeah yeah, but look,
I just wanted to make out to the defense. I
think they carried that team. Giant's only a twenty and
fifty yards of offense. There's not a lot offense, So
tip the CAF to the defense. I think they really
helped carry the Giants the victory and back.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
To the point about game flow and the ability to
then change the game plan to strictly grind it out.
You said it, John, The two Giants interceptions gave the
the offense a short field. Yep. So those are two
drives that were kind of eliminated from the Giants ledger
because if you're starting at the other team's three yard line,
(19:52):
you can't even put it together a fifty yard drive.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
That's a good point.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
So to be fair, everything about the game flow had
to do with how the Giants had to adopt their
game plan. Say, you know what, we're not gonna have
to throw it very much. Forget about the quick throws
and the game plan that we were gonna do, about
trying to make sure that Dart didn't have to go
through a bunch of different reads and progressions. No, no,
we don't need to do that. We got we got
(20:16):
an early lead, ten nothing, we got great field position,
and we're just pounding the ball. And by the way,
did you notice this at the end, at the end
of the game, John, Until I was reviewing the film
this morning, I didn't notice this seven to fifteen on
third downs.
Speaker 1 (20:31):
A lot of again, a lot of that was the
Dart running stuff, yes, and by the way, he also
had a couple of boys where he stepped up in
the pocket and completed passes over the middle too, including
that last big one, the Theo Johnson huge over the middle, huge,
wide open. I don't know what Dan Henley was doing
on the play, but he was wide open, easy throw,
but good job by darn making it.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
And again, I'm not one who likes to see my
QB run a whole lot. I'm not gonna change my
spots on that, but it definitely helped the Giants yesterday.
Speaker 1 (20:54):
Yeah, absolutely right, And now we'll see what he's even
And Brian Dabile mentioned about four times in his press
confaence yesterday that Dart's gonna be so this week, so
we'll see how much they can remember the second half
of that game. We really didn't see them use him
in the zone read read option run game at all,
so we'll see if that could even be a weapon
next week when they take on I'm.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
Got scattaboo twenty five carries again. He had twenty three
carries combined in the first three games, and I'm sure
he had twenty five yesterday.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
I'm sure he loves that. Oh, we gotta be careful
with him staying healthy too.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
Now, I personally am gonna ship over about twenty five
thousand bags of ice to his apartments, a.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
Lot of ice. He probably may't fit all that ice
in it.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
I think he needs it all right.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
I saved this for last because it should be a
joyous day for Giant fans. It should be very happy. Yeah,
but Giant fans sometimes can't have nice things. And it's
been the theme too much over the last twelve seasons,
where even on a day where you have a great
win Jackson Dart ever starts with a victory, all these
(21:55):
exciting things happen. Your past rush wakes up. You lose
the guy that might be the best player on your
whole team, certainly the best player on your offense. Yep
to buy what all reports are indicating is a season
ending knee injury. And it's impossible for me, Paul to
to over sell how important the league nighbors is to
(22:16):
this offense. He's the best playmaker. He's the one guy
that teams Shork circle with the red sharpy before every
game that you have to stop. He's a guy that
can you know, turn a ten yard slant into an
eighty R touchdown, And it stinks because now you're also
going to be hampered in your ability to value Jackson
Darth the rest of the year because Neighbors isn't out there.
(22:36):
So it stinks. It sucks. It did take some really
good feelings away from the game for me personally. I'm
sure it did for you too.
Speaker 2 (22:46):
But it is what it is, and the Giants have
to figure out how to do it moving forward now,
and now other guys are gonna have an opportunity, like
Jalen Hyatt, like Bo Collins to step up and take
advantage of their shot. You know, the Giants can go
a couple of different well more than a couple of
different ways. They got a lot of ways they can
actually go here, but I don't know which one is
going to turn out to be the best. They could
stick with what they have, and of course Hyatt, being
(23:08):
the speed burner, is probably the guy best suited to
try to take over that aspect of the offense.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
That aspect, yes, but that's not Neighbors roll in the offense.
Speaker 2 (23:19):
No, no, it's not. Right now, none of these things
are a perfect fit. One thing they could do, and
I don't think I like this very much. You could
play Robinson more on the outside, like they've started to
do this year. I don't want to do that because
he's such a good slot guy.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
We did see hide in the slot a little bit
in the second half of the game, and that's one
of the options. Hyatt becomes the slot guy for most
plays and Robinson becomes the outside guy because they've tried
to use him more out there, and you can rotate
him a little bit. You could do it.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
You could do it. I don't know that that's a
great solution because Wando has been banged up in his
early career, and the more you put him outside against
bigger corners, he could get pounded. Okay, that's one potential.
The other potential is you put Slayton out as the X.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
All right, I will I think if well, I think
he goes to the X either way, I mean, I
think I think that's in conjunction. Even if you do,
there's no doubt Robinson outside and hiding the slots, Slayton
has to go to that X spot.
Speaker 2 (24:21):
But to finish what I was thinking about here, you
could go him to the X. You could go Bo
Collins to the other boundary.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
I mean, bo Collins is big. He could play the
X too if you wanted to.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
I don't know if he's got enough speed to do it.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
I don't know. I don't size wise he size wise
he does. He certainly is more of an X than Slatness.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
I look at him as more of a possession guy,
although he did catch the long bomb from Wilson in
the preseason. These are the kinds of things I'm toying with.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
That's a good good good questions, Okay, good questions.
Speaker 2 (24:58):
Because with his frame and his and his catch radius,
he could be the possession guy. And then you keep
Robinson in the slot, you put Slayton as the X,
and you got Collins on the outside. You could go
that would be another possibility. As as I've already gotten
some phone calls this morning. You always could look outside
the building. But the danger there is number one, The
(25:20):
Giants don't have a lot of salary cap room.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Guys that are free agents now are free agents for
a reason. Yes they are. And unless you are extremely.
Speaker 2 (25:27):
Confident, now, maybe if there's a guy or two out
there that they want to work out that I was
about to say, be okay with that, especially these older guys,
you want to bring him in for a workout, see
if they can still run. Fine, I'm a GPS on
them and let him see how they do. Right, Okay,
I'm with you on that. But here's the thing. You
don't have a lot of cap room. I don't think
any of these guys are going to command much money,
but you still don't have a lot of cap room.
And what you have to figure out is is any
(25:50):
of these guys coming in off the street going to
be appreciably better than anybody you have in the building,
even you have little Jordan Humphrey in the practice squad.
That's a good point, right, Are they appreciably better him?
Probably not, Paul, I have no I think everything you
said makes sense. So the none of these are clean answers.
None of these are great answers. The Lak Neighbors is
(26:10):
a Pro Bowl player.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
No, there's no replacing Elik Neighbors.
Speaker 5 (26:13):
No.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
Anyway, I just throw that out there for you folks,
because there's a lot of possibilities.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
And look at tomorrow, guys, you're gonna have Lance and
Howard ONZI. If you want to get more into this,
that's fine. I like to talk more about the game
today coming off the win. If you can tomorrow, we
could do the neighbors stuff. But if you want to
talk about neighbors too, that's fine, we can also do that.

Speaker 6 (27:24):
Hey?
Speaker 7 (27:24):
How you doing? John? And Paul?
Speaker 8 (27:25):
What's up?
Speaker 1 (27:26):
Greg?
Speaker 7 (27:27):
Not much? Not much, man, just calling in. I haven't
called in a while, been anxious to call, but I
just haven't gotten around to it. But very happy with
the win, very happy with the wins.
Speaker 5 (27:39):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (27:39):
I had a lot of people uh on top of
the Giants and talking bad about the Giants in the
first three games. But the only thing I've been telling
him is, like the first game, the defense played all
right against the Commander's offense, didn't show up. Second game
often showed up. Let Dallas put up forty. Defense didn't
(28:00):
show up. Third game, back to one of them we played?
Whoever we played one of the one side of the
ball didn't show up. Yesterday to me just was the
first game, and I told everybody to be patient. When
the Giants can put together a complimentary game, we'll win.
And that's what I saw yesterday with the offense. And
(28:21):
even though the offense wasn't prolific, it was functionable, and
the opfense and the defense complimenting each other very well.
And that's what I wanted to see. And I really think,
now this is just my perspective, and I know I'm
gonna get a lot of backlash on this, but I
really think that players respond to different players, and I
(28:43):
think I just was optimistic about yesterday because I felt
like us in certain that would make the players respond.
And I think that's what I'm what I saw yesterday,
and I just wanted to say that happy to see
the players playing for each other. That's what it looked
like yesterday and looked competitive, and that's what I want
(29:04):
to see going forward, win all lost. That's starting to
turn the corner of changing the culture and playing for
each other, which I haven't seen that in a while.
So I take your responses to that off air. I'm
just very happy, man, not.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
I appreciate the call man good stuff.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
Yeah. I think the one thing that we talked about
in the pregame yesterday is that Jackson Dart is very
well liked in this locker room, and so when a
change is made, it's a lot easier for all the
guys to buy into the change if they like the guy.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
Right and the way he plays does generate excitement.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
No question. And he's also as we talked about with
Tickie Barber, he's also a very willing learner. He's not
as confident as he is. He wants to take direction. Yeah,
I wants instruction.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
I mentioned on the Giants huddle yes with Darius Layton
that went up last week. If you guys haven't watched it,
you should where Darius said, look, I'm ready to go
to bed one night and Jackson's calling me to like
go over a play on the I'm like, dude, I'm
going to bed. So Jackson was certainly you know, the
hitting the video late at night last week, trying to
get ready for this game. And on that final third
and five play to THEO Johnson, that's one of those
(30:09):
plays where THEO ande Darted spoken about it, yes, and
they said, look, they show that type of coverage which
was I believe that was cover two on that play
by the Chargers. You know, don't run across, sit down.
Instead they ran the play and they completed the pass
of the first down.
Speaker 2 (30:23):
How many times we see Dallas front that with Jason
Witten And by the way, on Friday, you know, we
have a forty five minute locker room period after practice
during the course of the week. And I don't know
if you notice this, but Dart's locker happens to be
like by the back entrance that goes to the equipment room,
(30:44):
and it's one of the entrances that leads out of
the locker room.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
Well, Darted had to look like.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
A little bag of something I guess to eat, like
a little piece of sandwich or something he was gonna
wind up taking on the road to go eat after
he was done. And Slayton was about to walk out,
And it's interesting you mentioned what you just said, because
I'm standing there, and Slayte walks out and Dart catches
him right at the doorway, and he starts chatting him
(31:11):
up against something that they saw at practice, and he
was like this and that, and I'm gonna I'm not
gonna get into details because that's not appropriate. But he
was talking to him about certain plays and why why
did you stop on that route? Why did you? And
I mean, his mind is not stopping Jackson. Dart's mind
(31:33):
is on the game twenty four to seven. I cannot
tell you how impressed I am Eli was the same way.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
Now, that doesn't mean that he's gonna figure everything out
he's gonna be great, it doesn't, but it shows his effort.
But it's necessary for that to happen. Right. Sure, it's
not guarantee of that it's gonna happen, but if it's
going to happen, it's gonna happen because of that.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
And credit to Slayton by the way, for being a
pros pro as he's always been since he's been here,
the kind of guy that Dark can go to.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
I would hope if your quarterback comes up to you,
what's a goal for places? And I did. I'm not
going to do.
Speaker 2 (32:01):
That, I'm sorry to say. I've known some receivers who
probably wouldn't.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
Well, not ideal two one nine, three, nine four five
one three. Let's go to Lucas in New Jersey next
years and Lucas, what's going on?
Speaker 9 (32:16):
To Hey, what's going on? How do you guys doing today?
Speaker 1 (32:18):
H good?
Speaker 6 (32:19):
What do you got nothing?
Speaker 9 (32:21):
I just wanted to talk about the energy of MetLife yesterday.
It was incredible. I've never seen I haven't seen a
fourth quarter of that act with excitement. Uh, you know
the stadium was packed even you know, with the final minute.
But who do you think they should kind of if anyone,
you know, get as a wide receiver, it's like maybe
(32:43):
maybe some of the supplement or do you think we
have enough talent on board?
Speaker 1 (32:47):
Paul? Do you do you have the Frager wide receiver
lesson you have? I do?
Speaker 2 (32:51):
I do, But I'm gonna throw something else at you.
How do you feel about a chef's who had a
really good camp slot guy.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
He's he he's due play with. I don't think you're
gonna have him and Robinson on the field at the
same Here's the problem.
Speaker 2 (33:03):
If I was gonna say, if you want to throw
Ochevsky out there, I think he's gotta go slot now,
kench Robinson's got to play outside. I agree with that,
which is another one of the permutations. As you start
fussing with the Rubik scube.
Speaker 1 (33:15):
I think we're going to see a lot of little
Jordan Humphrey. To be honest with you, I wouldn't surprise
me Bo Collins. I think I know people are excited
about Jalen Hyatt, and I think he will get an opportunity.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
He's got to.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
I think people are going to be surprised by how
much Bo Collins ends up playing after this injury. Again,
no one's told me anything. I've not talked to a soul.
That is simply my gut feeling. The fact that they
kept him on the fifty three to start the year
tells me they have confidence in him. They don't have
confidence in the play right away. They would have just put
him onto the private although.
Speaker 2 (33:44):
His special team's prowished to help.
Speaker 1 (33:46):
I'm sure it didn't hurt. But they've even made sure
to get him some snaps in these games. I know
they've got him on the field little bit, so I
think this could be an opportunity for Bo Collins.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
I will give you some veteran free agent names, but
I want to preface this by saying we are not advocating,
nor do we have any information that these people are
of any interest.
Speaker 1 (34:05):
There just happen to be guys that are available.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
That's correct, veterans who are on the street. Dean Day
Johnson no.
Speaker 1 (34:11):
And by the way, his all field stuff, forget that
and locker rooms.
Speaker 2 (34:15):
But we will not give you any analysis on this.
These are just names who are available. Odell Beckham Robert Woods,
Nelson Agalore, Tyler Boyd, Michael Gallup, DJ Chark, Zach Pascal
kJ Osborne. That's probably about enough all of those guys
who played in the league before and are currently veteran
(34:36):
free agents. Okay, but we have nothing else to add.
Speaker 8 (34:41):
That's really good.
Speaker 9 (34:42):
I will say this to your point about those chefski,
I think he can be dynamic. We can definitely find
some place to you know, make use of his you know,
his capability that he brings short. I was talking to
someone in the stands about you. Who do you think
you know? Is little Jordan Humphrey that body type that
you like is easy?
Speaker 6 (34:59):
You know?
Speaker 9 (34:59):
Is that an this gnomer? Is he actually a big guy?
Speaker 2 (35:01):
No, he is. He is a big guy, thank you.
Look he's one of he's one of those types of players.
Speaker 1 (35:06):
He's six to six two and a half two twenty
five enough size.
Speaker 2 (35:09):
You know. Here's the thing. You can be six two
six two and a half and still qualifies a skyscraper
if you've got the long wingspan. Because being a skyscraper
that that really is a an adjective you give to
a guy who's got a large catch radius, who has
a big box. You can throw it to So you
might be an inch or two shorter, but if you
(35:30):
have an int or two longer arms, you don't have
to be six four. You know what I'm saying. I
know you know where you know where I'm going with that.
Speaker 1 (35:38):
Sorry six four oay.
Speaker 2 (35:41):
So yes, it's it's about your wingspan, your catch radius,
your your catch box. That's what makes a guy a skyscraper.
A guy who's five to nine, there's no way he's
gonna have the kind of catch box that will ever
quantify as a skyscraper.
Speaker 1 (35:55):
No, absolutely, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
That's the point. So, yeah, you gotta at least be
at least six six two and a half and then
have a long wing span.
Speaker 1 (36:04):
Well, he actually measured six to fourth the combine too,
so that's so that's that's leg Yeah, that isn't like
a fake elevated six'.
Speaker 2 (36:09):
Four now he's not of the elusiveness or of the
speed correct that the neighbors. Is so if you're going
to go, there it's a different style ye.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
Receiver, correct absolutely right two one nine three nine four
five one Three Coach marven's And Delaware high coach Coach, Fine, hey,
coach we have a lot of people on the. Line
so if you have a major, POINT i want you
to get to that.
Speaker 3 (36:35):
First, okay, okay the major point is the discipline. Part
like to see them do. Better they got down inside
the part and the discipline happened. AGAIN a penalty right. Away,
YEAH i talked about that Last, friday that we got
to get that, straight even if you have to remind
them when then in the, huddle, hey we're in the red.
(36:56):
Zone no. Penalties eight.
Speaker 1 (36:58):
Penalties eight penalties are forty three yards overall.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
This, week right, right And Bo collins might. PICK i
think that's the guy you're gonna have to give a
shut to. IT i would skip, over not skip over
anybody else they. HAVE i go right To Boat.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
Collins one, point, coach if you take Both, collins remember,
now that would be the. Pick then over Little Jordan.
Humphrey who do you have to bring up from practice?
Squad and both of those are similar type. Guys ALTHOUGH
i THINK i.
Speaker 1 (37:27):
Mean you can you can call up Little Jordan humphrey
and still Play Boll.
Speaker 2 (37:29):
Collins, well you, could but that would require a move
that you may not want to.
Speaker 10 (37:34):
Waste Bo collins is on the active, roster right, right
But humphrey's. Not, yeah But Laie nighbors is going to
go on enjo a. Reserve you got an open roster
spot you might need for the. Kicker, no you, Might
you don't, know.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
And again you can you can elevate you may need.
One what you can do too if you're not sure,
Yet If Bo collins can step up and do, it
you just elevate him a couple of. Weeks you Play
Bull collins and if you can't do, it then you
can do the permanent elevation for Little John humphrey if
you want.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
To, yeah we don't know what The giants long term
plan is For. Kicker by the, way because says you
KNOW Mca tammy came up. Yesterday is a practice squad? Elevation,
yeah and you know's ON i. Are we don't know
how well that's going to be.
Speaker 3 (38:09):
Correct my last, thing real, Quick i'm gonna hang up
here since YOU i don't have the. Time Ron John
runyon's wife UNCLE i ended up meeting at a high school.
Game Bill schultz is victorious. Uncle so it was impressive
to meet, him and that is that is his. Niche
(38:32):
SO i just wanted to throw that out.
Speaker 1 (38:35):
Awesome thank You, couch good, stuff and you're. Right, look
you do have to play clean. Football that fall star
AND i mentioned in the open you get a first
and goal with the three and the first player fall,
starting and then the other play that bathered. Me we
didn't talk about, it AND i get it your emotion
all that. Stuff it was like a fifteen minute stoppage
and play after The Elaite neighbors. Injury you cannot have
(38:56):
a delayed game penalty after that long. Stoppage, no it
turned the third and five into a third and. Ten
IF I i remember, correctly you can't have.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
That DO i dare add a third, item of, course
a dual car to jumping off sides on fourth down
when we all knew The chargers were going to try
to draw.
Speaker 1 (39:11):
Somebody do you think they're going to run a play on?
Speaker 2 (39:12):
THAT i.
Speaker 1 (39:12):
DON'T i Was i'm not. Sure i'm kind of fifty
to fifty on.
Speaker 2 (39:15):
IT i think they were looking to get somebody to,
bite and he. Bit AND i talked To abduel after
the game and right away he's, like that's on.
Speaker 1 (39:22):
ME i knew.
Speaker 2 (39:22):
IT i did, it got gotta be more disciplined on.
It BUT i said to, him when you make a
mistake like, that does it focus you all the more
during the rest of the. Game And he's like, absolutely
because he felt like he had he had done a
bad mistake and he wanted to make up for, it
so he increased his intensity the rest of the.
Speaker 1 (39:41):
Game duel one nine three three Lenond, Columbia. Maryland, len
what's going? On?
Speaker 4 (39:46):
Hey nice? Win nice?
Speaker 1 (39:48):
Win?
Speaker 4 (39:48):
Len, yeah definitely a nice, win you, know but you
just can't look PAST i got to start with the neighbors.
Thing just just. TERRIBLE i, MEAN i don't know what
else to. SAY i, mean it's nothing. Else you, know the,
kids the kids a great, player and you, know to
have that, happen you know it's going to affect us
(40:10):
the rest of the. YEAR i know what's throwing names
around my, my my BIGGEST i think the criteria THAT
i would look for in trying to get somebody else
on the roster or or get them more plays is
whoever knows the playbook the, most whoever knows it. Best
we we can't have any wrong. Patterns i'm not sure right.
(40:33):
Now as much AS i Like Bo, collins, uh you,
know Notre dame, Guy i'm not sure that's the. Guy
i'm not sure that's the. GUY i would LOOK i
would look at That mississippi Kid. WELLS i think we
got him on the practice.
Speaker 2 (40:47):
Squad, no, no let he's not, Here, len he's not.
Here but he's not taking he didn't make he's not
on the practice. Squad oh he's not one. Squad and quite,
honestly then he had some flashes, early but then his
camp went. On he did not merit that type of.
Speaker 5 (41:06):
Consideration, okay, okay all, Right, john you use the word
early in the discussion THAT i want to kind of jump,
on and that is clutch. Man there's nothing like your
best players making plays in the fourth.
Speaker 4 (41:22):
Quarter, yeah over the last four. Minutes That burns, sack
that's where you want him to come. Through oh it's
nice in the first, quarter but, man when you're protecting
a lead and you make a play like, that that
is just. That that's just clutch.
Speaker 1 (41:39):
Quarters really what you?
Speaker 4 (41:41):
Want that was that was a great, player a great
play by Bye By. BURNS i don't know WHETHER i
don't care whether there were breakdowns or. Not, listen he
had a line On. Herbert they stayed with, it.
Speaker 1 (41:51):
And he got him on the ground doesn't matter, Absolutely.
Speaker 4 (41:55):
Yeah beautiful play a last point. Lane, yeah, okay real
real quick third down. CONVERSIONS i think he gave the.
NUMBERS i don't know what they were on the defensive,
side but to, me you bid to build the. NARRATIVE
i know you like you like red, law red zone, Performance,
(42:15):
SEAN i like third down. Conversions it changes the.
Speaker 1 (42:19):
Game both are. Important that was big.
Speaker 4 (42:21):
Yesterday that was just huge. Yesterday that way we converted
some third downs and also one. More the clutch passed To.
Slayton the kid looked, poised he looked. Comfortable he didn't
look overwhelmed in the.
Speaker 5 (42:32):
Past the theel, listen we can win this game On.
Speaker 4 (42:34):
Sunday let's beat The. Saints thanks for taking my.
Speaker 1 (42:37):
CALL i appreciate. It i'm assuming he needs the clutch
passed the.
Speaker 2 (42:39):
Theeld yeah he, must because that was immensely.
Speaker 1 (42:42):
Important and by the, Way Bo collins at His Notre
dame pro day had a four five two forty yard,
dash so not slow four five he's, okay but but
he did have a thirty eight inch vertical, jump which is,
excellent and well ten ten broad, jump which is also Excell.
Speaker 2 (42:57):
Again he qualifies he is a. SKYSCRAPER i was thrilled
to get him out of the fifty. Three believe, ME
i thought it was awesome when he made. It but you,
know we're just giving you the, numbers just giving.
Speaker 1 (43:07):
It i'm JUST i think for, Me.
Speaker 2 (43:11):
I'm more inclined to think he's a possession.
Speaker 1 (43:13):
Guy and he measured six, three two hundred pounds at the. Combine,
yeah look and look he. Was he was a big
recruit To clemson before he went To Notre. Dame, oh
he was a big time.
Speaker 2 (43:23):
PLAYER i, mean, look remember, something, Folks The giants did
put him on the initial fifty. Three they didn't even
take a chance of getting him to the practice squad right,
now so.
Speaker 1 (43:33):
We'll, say we'll, say if he has a chance to
to step up, here maybe it's gonna Be jay On.
HYATT i don't know who. Knows we'll to wait and
see and find. Out all, right, GUYS i appreciate you
being quick on the. Calls i'm just trying to get
in as many people as we can after a. Win
people are very. Excited jay And philly's up? Next? Jay
what's going?
Speaker 7 (43:47):
On, hey?
Speaker 6 (43:48):
Fellas ye were?
Speaker 8 (43:51):
Great?
Speaker 6 (43:51):
Hi Frustrated Bronx france plant down here living in the
last couple of. YEARS i joined an avy AND i.
Stayedium WHEN i got out the thank you throw three
questions to. YOU i know we're very busy today AND
i would like to if you could to take it
off the. Year absolutely, questions but my points of What Number,
one this defense is built to have the lead with
(44:13):
this pass, rush AND i think yesterday we saw a
little bit of. It and if we can play with the,
lead you scat as ball control and let the defense.
Eat and that's What i'll say about. That you could
comment on. That the second thing about neighbors, terrible don't,
again we don't want to go on. It we know it's,
devastating but in dark, development could this be A i
(44:37):
don't want to say it's a, positive but you know
how young young quarterbacks lock on a. Receiver could this
teach him to spread the ball? Around the? Thing the third,
thing and then you can guys answer it. Off, YES
i know it's, very very very early for the, draft
But i'm just saying line back a wide. Receiver offensive
line is secondary And i'll leave it at. That, gentlemen
(45:00):
it feels great to have a win on A monday
to be able to WATCH. Espn oh, guy so Stuffering
giant fan and. Elite it's terrible down here because it's
there obnoxious and now that they're. Winners oh my.
Speaker 1 (45:13):
God, No hi got To, Jay hey you, too man appreciate.
It always good to talk to a guy from The.
Bronx all. RIGHT i thought he made three good questions
on the. Draft, sure those, POSITIONS i think those are
ones you look, at and that's. Fine it's actually a
very good off ball linebacker draft for the, record not
a great wide receiver. Draft And i'm trying to think
one of the positions you mentioned, there but not.
Speaker 2 (45:32):
Important, no the neighbor's injury will not Help jackson dark
because what's going to eventually happen, here people is teams
are just gonna play man to man defense against The.
Speaker 1 (45:42):
Giants so they're gonna stack the box against the, run
and they're gonna blitz and they're gonna Force giants receivers
to win one on. One and we've seen this, Before,
paul and in the, past The giants have had trouble
winning in those. Situations now my cafe is back Home place.
One The robinson's not the year off the kne Injury
darius lay and we know he's a good, player and
(46:03):
he did step up When Laku niabors got her last
year for a couple of games he. Did and again
who knows About hyappocollins the rest of the. Guys, eventually
that's what teams are going to. DO i don't know
when it's gonna. Start it could start this week against The,
SAINTS i don't. Know and The giants players are going
to have to win one on. One and you Want
Jackson dart to have somebody when a team, plays man
(46:24):
demand to, say you know What i'm going to every
TIME i See mandaman defense that. Dude and if you
don't have, that, dude it makes it a lot. Tougher.
Speaker 2 (46:32):
Somebody somebody is not going to be able to fill
the shoes of mylite. Neighbors but somebody has to step
up enough to prevent teams from suffocating this. Offense it's
just that. Simple. Now back in twenty twenty, Two slayton
had that late search and they picked Up Isaiah hodgins off,
waivers and all of a, Sudden Isaiah hodgens became a
(46:55):
legitimate part of this.
Speaker 1 (46:56):
Offense who's the little slot guy from the forty nine, Ers.
Speaker 2 (47:00):
James RITCHIE jamesi thank you who caught fifty seven. PASSES
i remember he had a last name that was a first,
name BUT i thought it Was Charles, james and he
was the kick, returner and all of a, Sudden, oh guess,
what you gotta play some slot for. US i, mean
they got production out of those three guys in the
second half of the season that helped get them to the.
Playoffs although you'll remember their record was top heavy in
(47:22):
the first half of the. Year they didn't win a
ton of games in the second half of the, season
but they did. Enough they did enough to get him
to the playoffs in the win a road playoff game In.
Minnesota the point, being though we don't know as we
sit here right, Now, john which one of these receivers
is going to step up out of his current role
and become more than he is expected to.
Speaker 1 (47:44):
Be that's gonna be the story now moving.
Speaker 2 (47:45):
Forward that's.
Speaker 1 (47:46):
It that's. It and the first point he made defense
built to have the lead absolutely upon AND i have
talked about that at nauseum over the. Offseason one hundred.
Percent and, again give the defense. Credit he. Helped they
helped build the lead by giving the ball to the
offense in great field position to. Score and of course
scoring on that first drive for The giants was huge,
too going right down the field and scoring there and
(48:06):
Again Jackson, Dart, paul do you remember how many pass
he's completed on that first drive with the? Touchdown was
a two two two, COMPLETLY i believe for twenty one
yards of memory served me. Right they ran the, ball Camp,
scataboo and they ran the. Ball Jackson dart loved the
tight end in the backfield with the running back in.
Shotgun in this. Game they went away from it a
little bit as the game went. Along, yeah but they
did that a bunch in that first drive and they
(48:28):
had a lot of success run in the.
Speaker 2 (48:29):
Football how about the quarterback drawing the? Touchdown And baldinger
Asked baldy about this.
Speaker 1 (48:33):
One So scatiboo blew off the.
Speaker 2 (48:35):
Line scattaboo Played that was your typical full back lead
out of an eye, formation but done in a different
way because it was the quarterback and the. Shotgun scataboo
did a little bit of an offset full back spot
and then he just obliterates the middle linebacker And dart
practically walks. IN i mean it was it was beautiful power.
(48:56):
Football all, right.
Speaker 1 (48:57):
Let's go to and THEN i have a couple more
just random notes down of you before he. Closed but
let's get two more calls Here pearson before we. Go
let's go To Steven. Vegas he's up. Next Hey, Steve,
hey what's?
Speaker 4 (49:06):
Up?
Speaker 7 (49:06):
John what's?
Speaker 8 (49:07):
Up?
Speaker 6 (49:07):
Paul? Guys big Three?
Speaker 11 (49:09):
Monday, man it feels.
Speaker 6 (49:10):
Good, Hey just a couple of.
Speaker 11 (49:12):
Things, first there's one of Big jackson, dart huge spark.
Plugs he's a he's lifting his. Team he's that he's
developing not only as a, great great, quarterback but as a.
LEADER i think in that locker, room, yep we're looking
forward to.
Speaker 6 (49:25):
Big things to.
Speaker 11 (49:26):
Come THING i want to mention, Obviously i've heard about
the elite neighbors terrible. Loss you can't replace someone like
out of his. Caliber we understand. That uh two Things
i've HEARD obj Is brown their Name that his name out.
There Deyontay JOHNSON i heard as a free agent. TOO
i don't know if he's uh, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (49:46):
Steve, Unfortunately Deontay johnson has pretty much run himself out
of three jobs in the last, Year so you would
have to do a lot of work on what happened
with him in a couple of those. Spots, yeah BUT
i think he's he's probably the most talented guy that
you look. At but he's been, again he's been cut
from the last three. Teams in, fact was it The
(50:07):
who's traded for him and then released him like three weeks?
Later was It? Pittsburgh, NO i can't, remember The.
Speaker 11 (50:13):
Ravens might have been someone, Else i'm not.
Speaker 6 (50:16):
SURE i don't.
Speaker 1 (50:16):
Remember there was a team that traded from basically released
him three weeks. Later so he has been a little
bit of a mess in the locker room for some
of these.
Speaker 2 (50:21):
Teams you, know there's a personnel file thick on every
single one of these, players some of which is not
so great, stuff some of which is perfectly. Fine but
then you have to consider other reasons why they are
on the.
Speaker 1 (50:32):
Street And i'll be, Honest i'm not. SURPRISED i just
SAY i am surprised that it took huntil one twenty
one for someone to bring up Out Ob Beckham. Junior in,
Fact pulaski before the, SHOW i did on what call
do you think when to get the First Beckham junior
question you should see the. YouTube, come oh is it
all over the? Place, Yeah i'm not. SURPRISED i need
to do a better job looking at. Those but, look
if you want to bring any and, plump we can
(50:54):
apply this to all the. Veterans bring them in for a,
Workout see how they, move see how they, run and
if you think they can help, you then you can
bring them. On but you know a lot of these
guys are over thirty and you don't know how much
use they have left in the, tank especially if they've
gone through a bunch of.
Speaker 11 (51:07):
Injuries, well, WELL i think we Got Jalen.
Speaker 6 (51:10):
HyET i mean he's he kind of step up.
Speaker 11 (51:11):
Too he's a great receiver him out Of tennessee.
Speaker 6 (51:14):
If we can get him moved. AROUND i, mean And Wandel.
Speaker 11 (51:17):
Robinson you know he had a big game Against. DALLAS
i think he's going to step. Up and Obviously slayton
so and.
Speaker 6 (51:24):
Then the other THING i just wanted to bring up real.
QUICK i know you guys are.
Speaker 11 (51:26):
Busy the injury to the. LEAGUE i know with A
TORY acl it takes about nine, months nine to twelve.
Months does that change a player after the injury when
they come back OR i mean are they do they
use to.
Speaker 7 (51:38):
Come back up to?
Speaker 11 (51:39):
Speed how does that affect a player's, career especially a
young guy like the.
Speaker 6 (51:43):
League But i'll take it. Off i'll take the.
Speaker 1 (51:45):
CALL i appreciate, it, Man thank you very much for the.
Speaker 2 (51:48):
Call you Remember Dominic kickson And Amani, tumor two really terrific,
giants receivers who have helped this franchise Win Super. Bowls
they had, acls multiple, ACLS i will, say, so sometimes
it's not, terrible other times it can impact.
Speaker 1 (52:03):
You it completely depends on the player in the. Situation
is it a clean? Tear is there more damage and
addition to THE acl that is our a meniscus damage
in addition to THE. Acl we're not going to know
any of. That but whether or not it's a clean,
tear if there's any other damage that impacts. It some
guys come back. Great some guys don't come back. Great
sometimes the, surgery like Remember Odell Beckham junior had the
(52:24):
surgery and they found out that it wasn't repaired to
the extent you wanted it to. Be so that's what
he was with The. Browns it all depends on the,
player the individual. Surgery but we've seen the modern. Day
AND i said this to Pop it this morning when
all the reports came out that it was confirmed to be,
THAT i, Said i'd much rather have that than it'd
be like A ptel attendant or something like. That, oh
(52:44):
no questions that those can be really messy and those
can be. Rough so there's a long history of guys
coming back being just as good after THE Acl but,
again we don't know the deals with. Injury BUT i
think it is Reasonable paul to say that he could
very well be on the field week one next.
Speaker 2 (53:02):
Year, OH i think that's. Possible but AGAIN i.
Speaker 1 (53:05):
Don't well, AGAIN i just said reason to. YOU i
just said it's. Reasonable, yeah that's.
Speaker 2 (53:08):
IT i DON'T i don't think there's anything crazy about saying.
That but, Again john hammered his home ten. Times over
individual cases, vary there's no way to tell this will
impact him long.
Speaker 1 (53:20):
Term, no that it's different for. Everybody all we can
do is. Guess that's all we can, do and that
doesn't really help anybody. Guessing and it was The. Ravens
so The steelers trade him to The. Panthers then The
panthers trade him to The. Ravens he got suspended for
one game due to contact detrimental for the team because
he refused to enter. IT i forgot about. This remember
(53:41):
he refused to go into the game for The ravens and,
yes you remember. That and then he got. Cut, okay
so like you got to do work on all these. Guys.
Speaker 2 (53:48):
Oh for.
Speaker 1 (53:51):
He got claimed by the by The, texans and then
he got waived by. Them he went back to The,
ravens he got claimed, again then he got claimed by The,
browns and he was released in final roster. Cuts so
he's kind of been all over the place a little.
Bit all, right final call the. Show let's go To
marcus and. Tennessee, marcus what's going? On a lot of
new names. TODAY i like, That, marcus what's? Up thanks going?
Speaker 6 (54:09):
On go Big?
Speaker 1 (54:10):
Blue that's, right, Baby.
Speaker 8 (54:14):
Victory, man that feels.
Speaker 2 (54:15):
Great, Absolutely, marcus do me a, favor turn turn your
speaker down and you can listen to us through the.
Speaker 8 (54:21):
Phone, okay, OKAY i actually had you on MY, tv
so hold.
Speaker 1 (54:25):
On, okay no no. Worries so if you can beat THE,
tv that'd be.
Speaker 8 (54:28):
GREAT i got, YOU i got.
Speaker 6 (54:29):
You.
Speaker 8 (54:30):
Yeah it's a little faster than, uh the phone's little
faster than what's actually on the ky exactly, right, sir
bring Bring Turbo miller out of practice Squad man's she's
the dude that we need to. Help we need to
help cam Out.
Speaker 9 (54:41):
Man he's you, know he's. Rible we Need.
Speaker 1 (54:44):
Turbo singletary ran the ball well in this. GAME i.
DID i Thought singletary had a nice.
Speaker 8 (54:48):
Game he did for, one two b for.
Speaker 7 (54:50):
One BUT i don't.
Speaker 8 (54:52):
KNOW i just Think turbo's got it locked in the
box better than better Than.
Speaker 2 (54:55):
Singletary's all, right you got anything else for, Us, Marcus,
no that's, it but.
Speaker 1 (55:01):
VICTORY i appreciate, Him. Marcus all, Right, PAUL i will let,
you as the, resident you, know captain of The Dante
turbomiller fan, Club i'll let you give Your Turbo miller spiel.
Speaker 2 (55:11):
HERE i will only say this About. Turbo he's a
totally different style of back than the other two.
Speaker 1 (55:16):
Guys, oh totally. Different totally.
Speaker 2 (55:17):
Different so if you've got some sections in your playbook
that you want to run this, week then you should
make him a practice squad. Activation they obviously didn't feel
that way in this game against The, charges because they
figured it would be a, pounded grind it out kind of.
Game as we found, out he would not have been
a great fit necessarily for this game. Plan. Correct. Now
(55:38):
the other thing you can do With turbo was you
could also use my kickoff.
Speaker 1 (55:41):
Return you can take the banks back. There in this.
GAME i had one nice, return actually.
Speaker 2 (55:47):
Did and secretary.
Speaker 1 (55:48):
Didn't you, know you can't too, Absolutely.
Speaker 2 (55:50):
But if you Wanted miller up and you decided in
the backfield you needed a little bit of relief for
a change, up or there was something in the playbook
you wanted to use against The, saints you could bring
him up and then again give him a couple of
kickoff returns to all.
Speaker 1 (56:03):
Right a couple of the quick notes pulled before we say.
Goodbye go, ahead we have to be at a one
thirty sharp. Today, Yep pearson's got eat. Lunch very.
Speaker 2 (56:09):
Important of.
Speaker 1 (56:10):
COURSE i love giving him, craping especially as The yankees
playing The Red. Sox by the, way you're gonna get
no mercy this, Week, pearson just be ready for. That
Darius alexander had a nice pressure early in this. Game
get into the. BACKFIELD i Thought Drew phillips played a
really good. Game he had an excellent coverage on, McConkie
on that little flag rat where he knocked the ball.
AWAY i Thought Tyler nuban played a lot, better made
(56:30):
a couple of. TACKLES i thought he had a pretty good.
Speaker 2 (56:32):
Game took a bad angle on The hampton.
Speaker 1 (56:33):
TOUCH i don't THINK i don't, HONESTLY i looked at it.
AGAIN i don't think he. DID i just think he
was too far. Away In hampton's a lot faster than he.
Speaker 2 (56:40):
Is the speed Of. Hampton remember in, Person Remember nuben
was what was your four to six? Guy and you
know What hampton is right in? Person four fourth? Three in,
person he's.
Speaker 1 (56:50):
Faster oh it's not just a, person it's not a
person on tape on the stop. Watch he's faster in every,
way shape or for. Him So i'm. Not and he
was starting on the other side of the feet on
the other hash on that. Play i'm not sure if
there was an angle he could have taken to cut him,
Off BUT i understand your point would have been. TOUGH
i understand your point, Though and one.
Speaker 2 (57:10):
Same thing got. Going he wasn't gonna catch.
Speaker 1 (57:12):
Him, yeah in the combination Of muisau and could have
done a better job of filling that hole on the double,
Well buisau got blocked really well And Ocara kay by
the time he got around it was too. Late, yeah
And MUISAW i thought maybe could have he kind of went.
On he could have put you went on the inside
shoulder of the, block if you could have tried to
engage him on the outside, shoulder maybe squeezed it a little.
Bit but again we don't know whose fault it. Is
(57:33):
but and then and then the receiver. BLOCKED i think
was a debo on. That so all three of those
guys at the point of the.
Speaker 2 (57:40):
Tackle great play by The.
Speaker 1 (57:41):
CHARGERS i thought we Saw Keevon thibodau a defensive tackle
a lot more than we've seen ever in a.
Speaker 2 (57:46):
Game prize the heck out of.
Speaker 1 (57:48):
Me and they ran him a lot on those twists
trying to frame out pretty and it worked extremely. Well
LIKE i, mentioned they used a lot of twist and
sons with Both carter And burns to try to free him.
UP i Thought Dan belton had a little bit of
a he missed a tackle On hampton on the sile
and then he did not get over the top on
that deep play that Be banks on the double. Move,
yeah he needs to get over there on that and
(58:09):
he did not get over there on.
Speaker 2 (58:10):
Time the shame of it is AND i Think banks
probably thought he was supposed to be back, there but
at the same, time the startering go Left banks in his.
Speaker 1 (58:17):
Tracks and in that situation with the time on the,
clock can't do. It you can't be that now unless
the play is that you, Know belton's over the top
on you and you're supposed to be aggressive on that short.
ROUT i DON'T i don't know that to be the.
Case but those two guys have to do better on that,
play especially in that. Situation both of.
Speaker 2 (58:33):
Us have to do, better But banks even more.
Speaker 1 (58:34):
So one hundred. Percent those are the main THINGS i.
Had The giants overall a fifty six percent pass rush win,
rate which is. Astronomical that is astronomically. High if you
your players combined for a fifty six percent win, rate
that is a crazy. Number they had the ninth best
pressure rate this, week almost forty four. Percent did not
(58:56):
blitz a, ton WHICH i. Liked you, lot these great pass,
rushers you should have to blitz to generate. Pressure you've
had trouble in the back. End flood those zones with
people get home with four a little bit more, SO
i like that adjustment By Shane bowen in this. Game
they played a ton of man third most cover one
in the league this year this, WEEK i should. Say
so those are my major notes coming out of the.
(59:18):
Game and, look it's a good, win pow And i'm
happy to be on On monday talking about a victory for.
Speaker 2 (59:22):
Once CAN i second and third? That how about how
about we try to fourth that and see what they
can do against The saints Next.
Speaker 1 (59:28):
Sunday, Yeah so we Have crossed And Lance meadow tomorrow
